I already replaced the old Synaptic icon in my local branch. I don't think that the software box is such a good idea. Mainly you loose lots of space just to draw the grey part of the box that does not contain any information. Furthermore I could not identify the box without having the nome-software-update-available in my mind. I prefer the old package icons that Anderson used. So could you try to use a darker green for your old installed icons? That could perhaps increase the contrast to the yellow/orange arrows. Re: [ubuntu-art] request: tango style synaptic icons
Michael Vogt: Thanks for the new icon Sebastian. I tested them on my system and I think the contrast is not big enough for some. I.e. the embedded information on upgrade is not visible enough (because the yellow arrow dosn't show that well over the background). The same for upgradable and locked, I find the contrast not big enough and think it's hard to read. A tango and a tangerine version would be very nice. Your icons are now in my branch, Josué. Thanks for all your efforts, Sebastian Some different options based on tango icons. I would prefer the computer icon since it affects the whole system. Additionally the Ubuntu computer would be even better :) By the way at the moment I can only include the bitmap version, since using the gtk theme infrastructure in synaptic would be a too deep change before the release of dapper. I think this is good. It goes well with Human and Tangerine (since both use the same 22x22 icon for computer). I have added a border to make it 24x24 which is the size used now. I am quite low on time at the moment and therefore my replies have a minor delay. Currently the icons reflect two information at the same time: on the one hand the status and on the other hand the planned action. I am unsure about using the same icon column to show two separated information. Another problem is locking. It would be nice to see if a locked package is installed or not.
