[Ubuntu-BD] ইন্টারনেট সংযোগ সমস্যা

আমি আমার কম্পিউটারে উবুন্টু এবং উইন্ডোজ দুটো অপারেটিং সিস্টেম ব্যবহার করছি।
আমি আগে একটি আইএসপি থেকে ইন্টারনেট ব্যবহার করতাম এবং সমস্যার কারনে সম্প্রতি
আমি অন্য একটি আইএসপি'র লাইন ব্যবহার করছি। বর্তমানে কম্পিউটার চালু করার সময়
উবুন্টু সিলেক্ট করলে আমি ইন্টারনেট সংযোগ পাই না। সংযোগ পেতে হলে আগে আমাকে
উইন্ডোজে গিয়ে কানেক্ট দিয়ে সংযোগ চালু করতে হয়। এরপর উবুন্টু চালালে আমি সংযোগ
পাই। এটা কেন হচ্ছে বুঝতে পারছি না। আগের আইএসপি'র সংযোগে এ সমস্যাটি ছিলো না।
এখন আমার উবুন্টু চালানোর আগে উইন্ডোজ চালাতে হচ্ছে। এরপর উবুন্টুতে যেতে হয়।

এ সমস্যাটি কিসের? দয়া করে জানাবেন।

আহ! অবশেষে এলো, শুধুমাত্র এই অভ্রর জন্যই বারবার উইন্ডোজে ফিরে যেতে হচ্ছিল।

I have tried the commands from the link of Amader Projukti forum. But looks
like I have got only 269 packages there. And the last package name starts
with "g". I don't think I have only 269 packages installed. or am i missing

many questions/situation may seem really absurd to an expert but to a really
new person that problem may be the most important ones.

take for example your "some basic questions" could be solved by googleing or
even looking into Ubuntu-bd mailing list archive because we have answered
many of them on the list before (even after you joined the list, may
have skipped you).

self help is encouraged but you can also google it for them (avoid lmgtfy
that insulting)..

few weeks back I also used to get annoyed easily for basic
questions/situations that could be found out easily, but I don't do so
now-a-days for one of my own bitter experience

and thanks to Lenin bhai for bringing me to sense :)

Learned the hard way.

I also used to get annoyed easily then the time came when I had to fix
something on my blog (I'm noober than noob in web development) to me the
problem was really important while for the knowledgeable person it was like
abc of web development he asked me to find out myself and I managed to
screw things more
that's another story...

*now-a-days I don't get annoyed when people ask about problems that they
could solve themselves...*


However I do get annoyed when they ask in a silly way.. like providing
inadequate  information. silly headings, begging for argent solution etc...

I have really slow internet connection, in this shitty line

a) it takes 5 mins to load gmail,

b) another 1-2 minutes to load individual mail

b-1) if I get some error I have to restart again from a) .

c) after all this hassle when I finally be able to load an email after 5-7
mins I really look forward to interesting situation and nicely constructed
question...

d) if the email is not nicely constructed  I have to ask for additional
information and wait 1-2min to send the mail,
d-1) if I get some error I have to initiate step d) again.

e) repeat stage a to c.

If you are already annoyed by this email how I'm describing my situation
then you should also consider how it is for me to be in such position

(Yes I'm trying to switch my isp and will be doing so in few weeks (need to
get approval from my parents who pays the internet bill)

till then if I behave rudely then I beg pardon beforehand for my
rudeness. but at the same time I encourage people to help the solution
provider by providing additional information of your problem... like
i) what you are trying to achieve,
ii) what method you tried,
iii) what error you received,
iv) did you try googling the solution (if yes what result did you get)
v) last point be patient.

even today in this mailing list I found two problem that are poorly
constructed,

1) first they wanted to know "how to do stuff" (did not say whether they
have searched to solution or tried themselves),
2) when people answered with the solution they said "I tried that already
did not work" (did not say what went wrong)
3) then we have to ask again "what kind of problem they are facing"

here you can clearly see we have to go through three unnecessary stages that
could have been avoided by smartly constructed questions.

think about it.. consider it.. practice it.

The purpose of Tanjir bhai's article was to give some advice, not to provide
some "have to follow rules" still they are important, understand them, think
about them,  consider them, practice them.


you will see that you can get your problem sorted quickly by following those
advice.

You can also copy the .mozilla folder somewhere and then replace that.
That folder contains everything. The folder is in your home directory

I have another question. I have never felt the need to backup my Firefox
plugins, bookmarkas and other application data. How can I back them up? Is
it really possible?

Do you know why Ubuntu is the most popular distro out there? Because
ubuntuforums.org accepts any stupid questions from users. Ubuntu is
based on Debian and Debian exists since the Linux distro movement
started. Yet Debian didn't get the mass love, Ubuntu did. Just ask
yourself, why? You'll know the answer.

You can do one thing though it is a bypass rather than a solution.
Copy everything from Ubuntu to windows. Then delete intrepid and
install jaunty fresh copy. Then paste everything from windows
partition to your home folder.

Answers:

1. Yes you can upgrade your ubuntu 8.10 to Ubuntu 9.04 without live internet
connection. You will need a alternate CD than the Live CD. Alternate CD is
available from Ubuntu website.

2. By upgrading to 9.04 you will not lose your installed softwares.

I just couldn't figure out if these questions are smart enough to be
answered.


   - I have installed Ubuntu 8.10 inside Windows. How can I upgrade to 9.04
   without internet connection ? May be with a live CD ?
   - Will I lose my existing softwares, codecs etc if I upgrade that way?
   - Is there a way to gather the installed packages into .deb packaging ? I
   mean those softwares I installed using apt-get directly, can I create debian
   package for them so that I can re-install the software from that in the
   future?

For gnome: Right click on the menu icon, select Edit Menu. You can
insert new item under desired menu from there. You need to know which
command is required for running your software.

You can use alias for renaming commands. e.g.,

alias dir="ls"

Put this line in ~/.bash_profile file. Then start a new terminal or
run this command:

source ~/.bash_profile

The question is not clear. However, just deleting the partition is
enough for removing Ubuntu. To get rid of GRUB, you need to fix mbr
from windows.

You can install whatever on your default Ubuntu. They don't collide.
They are completely different environment, although you can mix them
together.

Possible but not recommended. You have to manually find what works and what not.

[Ubuntu-BD] Some basic questions

Here i am asking some basic questions which i haven't got answered:

1. After i compile a soft and it does not appear in the application
menu, is it possible for someone to put the soft at the list manually.
If yes, then how?
2. Can i replace bash commands with windows commands? Like replace ls with dir?
3. Can i erase Ubuntu completely and restore windows on a hard
drive?(Installed Ubuntu as a partition)
4. Is it possible to install fluxbox or lxde on top of an existing
Ubuntu?(GNOME)

5. Can i enable other debian based distro's repo(e.g mint) in Ubuntu?

It is really getting out of control about the courtesy of people here.
Someone can ask really a noob question, one should consider it. Not
everyone is knowledgeable about everything. People who cannot use
mouse can be very good at other things where you are not even bad. So
be considerate to people asking for help. If you think the question is
too noob for your expertise, just don't answer it, ignore completely.
You are not bound to answer every question. It is possible to show
people google very politely.

I want to say again: if you think the question for help is too noob.
Ignore it. You don't have to answer it. Really you don't have to
answer all the questions. Repeat after me, you don't have to answer
all the f...ing questions. Just shut up.

Few days ago when RJ bro posted something about how to ask a question
i thought there is a guideline on how to question. I think everybody
should follow those. And i am not attacking personally. I am standing
against spoonfeeding.   solution of this problem could be a search
keyword in google. That's my personal opinion of course. But that
would be the best solution . Self help is the best help.

উবুন্তুতে পিজিন ছাড়াও ভালো মেসেঞ্জার হলো Kopete এবং Empathy
aMSN ও ভালো তবে কেবল এমএসএন এর জন্য।

ভয়েস এবং ভিডিও সাপোর্ট পেতে পিজিন এর সর্বশেষ সংস্করণ ইনস্টল করে নিতে পারেন
www.pidgin.im এ উবুন্তু থেকে গিয়ে ডাউনলোডে ক্লিক করলে দেখবেন দুটি কমান্ড
শেলএ ব্যবহারের কথা বলেছে। ওটা দিয়ে তারপর

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade করে নিলেই হবে

এছাড়া Skype উবুন্তুতে ভয়েস এবং ভিডিও সাপোর্টের জন্য সেরা সমাধান।

আমি পিজিনের পাশাপাশি Empathy ডাউনলোড করেছি। কিন্তু একই সমস্যা হচ্ছে। Empathy
তে আইডি যোগ করার কোন অপশন পাচ্ছি না।

DST ঠওক করতে ইন্সটল করুন:

sudo apt-get install tzdata

গ্রাফিক্স কার্ড ড্রাইভারটা EnvyNG দিয়ে ইন্সটল করা চেষ্টা করে দেখতে পারেন।**

আপনি যদি উবুন্টু ৯.০৪ বা এর আগের কোন ভার্সনের সাথে ইন্সটল করা পিজিন ব্যবহার

সফটওয়্যারটি আপডেট করে নিতে হবে।

পিজিন আপগ্রেড করার জন্য আপনি সিনাপ্টিক প্যাকেজ ম্যানেজার থেকে আপডেট করে নিতে
পারেন কিংবা টার্মিনালে লিখতে পারেন

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade pidgin

ইন্টারনেট ঠিকমত কাজ করছে কিনা সেটা পরীক্ষা করার সবচেয়ে সোজা বুদ্ধি হচ্ছে
ফায়ারফক্স ওপেন করে কোন সাইট খুলছে কিনা (যেমন Yahoo, Goolge, Wikipedia) সেটা
পরীক্ষা করে দেখা।

দীর্ঘদিন ম্যাক ওএস এক্স এবং ম্যাক ওএস এক্স সার্ভার  নিয়ে ঘসামাজা করে, শখ
মিটিয়ে ফেরত আসলাম উবুন্টু তে। ম্যাক ওএসে কোন ঝামেলাই নাই, আর আমার ঝামেলা
ছাড়া কম্পিউটার চালানোতে মজা লাগেনা।
শুধুমাত্র ঝামেলা বাড়ানোর জন্য পিসি, ল্যাপটপ আর উইন্ডোজ মোবাইল ব্যবহার করা
শুরু করলাম, আশ্চর্য হলেও সত্য, উইন্ডোজেও কোন সমস্যা নাই। এরপর আর নয়, চলে
আসলাম উবুন্টুতে।

৮.০৪ পর ৯.০৪ প্রথম ব্যবহার করছি। ৮.০৪-ও বেশি ব্যবহার করি নাই, তারপরেও ৯.০৪-ও
নেটওয়ার্ক ছাড়া তেমন কোন পরিবর্তন পেলাম না। তবে আমার নতুন ইন্টারনেট কানেকশন
(Zip FON) PPPoE এর সেটআপ যে ঝামেলা ছাড়াই করা গেল তাতেই আমি খুশি।
