I understand you are annoyed by the possibility that the new on-demand
services will be limited to Microsoft Windows users.
We work hard to provide internet services on a platform agnostic basis
and we're committed to using open standards where possible.
We have always planned to evolve the technical systems continuously
from launch and aim to broaden the availability of the service as
quickly as is reasonably possible.
However, we also have to balance objectives against:
(i) Demands of our rights holders
(ii) Viability of alternative technical solutions
(iii) Value for money to the licence fee payer
The proposed technical approach (described in the application)
represents the initial solution for delivering the proposals as widely
as possible.
At launch we expect to deliver the seven day catch-up over the
internet proposal using a combination of streaming and Microsoft DRM
protected download. Where programming is streamed it will be available
to users of Apple and Linux systems, though the amount of programming
delivered via streaming will be limited.
I hope this goes some way to explain our position on the matter. Your
comments have been fully registered and added to our daily audience
log. This is an internal document that is made available to the web
production teams and senior BBC management.

The BBC utilises Microsoft technologies without offering an alternative
Linux, free or open source alternative in these cases:
* The BBC Integrated Media Player (IMP) which requires Windows and Media

I have outlined why I believe this strategy doesn't meet the charter and
identified the parts of the charter I believe you are not meeting.
* If you deliver content that can only be used by licence payers with
Microsoft software you reinforce Microsoft's market monopoly. When you
reinforce the monopoly you damage Microsoft's competitors. ...have
regard to the competitive impact of the BBCÂ's activities on the wider
market; and ensure that the BBC observes high standards of openness and
transparency.
* By demonstrating a closed attitude towards technology and content
where an open solution exists or can be built in partnership with the
open source community you loose your independence. ...be

Meu notebook hoje pela manhã deu alguns probleminhas estranhos. Primeiro, quando liguei e entrei em meu Ubuntu, ele dizia que a bateria estava com 0% de carga (quando na verdade estava 100% carregada) e se desligava logo em seguida dando a seguinte mensagem: Critical temperature reached (39 C), shutting down. Pesquisando no Google, encontrei alguns fóruns relatando o mesmo problema, falando que era bug do kernel, alguém pode me confirmar isso? Olá pessoal, Será que alguem teria a bondade de me ajudar a configurar a conexao no ubuntu 7.04. Eu tenho um ACER 3624, instalei o 7.04 e estava tudo bem até ue nao acessou mais a internete. Tentei TCP-IP, mas n funcionou. Ja reinstalei até a versao 6.06 para ver se funcionava, e nada. Todavia, no win XP funciona perfeitamente. Estou tentando migrar para Ubunto agora, n entendo quase nada... Agradeço toda colaboraçao. Marcio, tenho um toshiba satellite que só pode habilitar o ajuste de brilho e teclas Fn depois que fiz a atualização da bios dele. Verifique no site da toshiba, lá na página do modelo do seu portátil, na seção de drivers e downloads, tem a atualização da bios. Se eu não me engano, é de março pra cá.. bem recente. Porém, só atualiza pelo windows, via software da toshiba. Depois disso é só alegria. Artur. Mandou bem Hamacker. A questão é exatamente esta. Trabalhamos não somente com implantação de CRM, como também com técnicas de vendas e integração com outros sistemas. Utilizamos o SugarCRM, e por enquanto só temos clientes utilizando a versão OpenSource. Já vi clientes ficarem tão satisfeitos com o SugarCRM, a ponto de desejarem largar o JDEdwards. Eu vi gente indicando o Compiere. Eu recomendo que fujam do Compiere. Ele não é livre porcaria nenhuma. É cheio de vendor-lock-ins, ferramentas e documentações proprietárias, isso fora dos segredos de projeto que ninguém consegue botar as mãos sem pagar para o mantenedor. Para se trabalhar a sério com este sistema é preciso pagar pelo menos R$ 5000 num treinamento incompleto e que não me satifez nem um pouco. Existe um fork do Compiere, o Adempiere, este sim é livre e bem maduro. O fork surgiu exatamente por conta dos lock-ins e da documentação proprietária. Voltando ao CRM. Existem diversas questões envolvidas num processo de implantação de um CRM. O CRM que se aplica a uma empresa não necessariamente aplica-se a outra. Além da questão técnica, de se adaptar o sistema às necessidades específicas da empresa, coisa que o SugarCRM faz com relativa facilidade. É preciso se preocupar também com o treinamento dos vendedores. Uma equipe de técnicos, que nunca venderam, por melhores técnicos que sejam, podem ter dificuldades extremas para iniciar uma venda, e para isso, mais importante que ferramentas, é necessário treinamento correto em vendas. A depto de vendas é tão crítico que qdo alguém vem perguntar pra mim sobre ser empresário, eu sempre pergunto: Como você vai vender?. Um produto bom, com boa qualidade técnica, pode ter menos sucesso que um produto de baixa qualidade com mas que conta com melhores vendedores. Continuo recomendando SugarCRM, e tb que vc procure um treinamento específico, de preferência em conjunto com a implantação do sistema. Agora a hora do jabá. No terminal digite: sudo apt-get -f install Ele vai fazer o download de todas as depêndencias que faltam. Se não funcionar, pelo synaptic busque pelo filtro de pacotes quebrados. Amigos Ubuntu Peço antecipadamente perdão pelo Off Topic, mas preciso do conhecimento do mundo computacional, que por sinal é farto nesta lista para tentar compreender o que acontece e tomar as providencias para a correção do erro. Remeto arquivo de boletos bancários em forma de arquivo.txt gerado em software fornecido pelo banco. A partir do mês passado o Mozilla Firefox foi homologado para a tarefa de download/upload destes arquivos. Para a minha alegria, fiz algumas remessas, via firefox ainda no windows xp, sem nenhum erro. Porém, via firefox do ubuntu, plataforma que adotamos agora em todas as nossas máquinas, menos na que gera os boletos, quanto tento enviar, a pg do banco aberta no firefox do ubuntu acusa erro de layout depois do envio do arquivo. Checado o arquivo via cat ou editor de texto, o arquivo está intacto e não apresenta, como os operadores do banco afirmam, um caractere a mais. Depois de alguns testes fracassados, remetemos o mesmo arquivo original, que o pessoal do banco havia dito que havia um caractere a mais, via internet explorer, e não houve erro algum na transmissão. Pergunta: Será que o firefox construído para a plataforma win tem em seu código algo que seja tão diferente do firefox para linux que possa conferir este caractere a mais no arquivo durante a transmissão??? Ou a possibilidade é a de que o pluguin java, que permite esta transmissão, seja 'mais' compatível com windows do que com o linux??? Em minha máquina tenho o Ubuntu e o Kurumin, mas penso remover o kurumin, já que em seis meses de testes, resolvi que o Ubuntu é a melhor distro para o meu uso. E queria saber se é possível unir as partições, deletando o kuruma, ou só formatando a máquina, o que não queria fazer. Aguardo, se há uma solução. José Vitor, É uma boa opção mas não grava em pdf, embora o arquivo, depois de salvo, abra nos visualizadores de pdf para linux, tipo evince (gnome) e kpdf (kde). Na verdade, a opção imprimir para arquivo, no menu de impressão, cria um arquivo post-script (*.ps), que é uma imagem de impressão (pelo menos, foi o que eu entendi). Se você reparar, os arquivos *.ps não abrem no acrobat-reader da adobe. Isso não é problema, exceto pelo fato de que não tem programa nenhum que abra estes arquivos no windows (que eu conheça, pelo menos). Como eu não uso windows... Idilio, Vc pode rodar um cd de instalação de alguma distribuição linux que tenha um bom particionador (pode ser o ubuntu mesmo, mas tem particionadore mais amigáveis, p/ ex. o do Madrake 10 é reconhecidamente eficiente) e criar um partição ext3 nova no lugar das partições do Kurumin (no caso de haver mais de uma, ie, se vc instalou / e home em partições diferentes, ou caso vc tenha criado um swap específico para o Kurumin). Depois de gravar a nova tabela e formatar a nova partição, vc aborta a instalação. (O bom do particionador do Mandrake é que vc pode interromper tranquilamente a instalação.). Mexer na tabela de partições sempre comporta riscos, mas dá pra fazer com alguma segurança (faça um bkp, é claro!). Vc pode usar a nova partição para guardar dados, fazer bkps etc. Não creio que seja possível simplesmente incorporar o espaço das partições do Kurumin nas partições Ubuntu pré-existentes, mas ter uma partição a mais já é uma excelente opção. Turbo cache от NVIDIA это то же, что и Hyper Memory от ATI: на борту, например, 16 Мб, а в качестве остальной памяти используется основное ОЗУ.
