[Bug 184078] Re: keyboard stops working until logout
(Subscribing mpt since he had an issue this morning that sounds vaguely similar.) lcampagn, a few questions? 1. Does this affect only the keyboard, or is the mouse / touchpad affected as well? 2. Do any keys on the keyboard work? Try ctrl-alt-F2, CAPSLOCK, tab, arrow keys, etc. 3. Can you cause X to restart using ctrl-alt-backspace? 4. Which window manager are you using? Compiz? Metacity? KDE? other? An IRQ conflict could indeed produce an effect like this. Can you attach your /proc/interrupts file so we can check if there are duplicate irq's in use? ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High Status: New = Confirmed -- keyboard stops working until logout https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/184078 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

More info: today's experience (till now :-) In kpowersave, I have configured the general settings to suspend to RAM when lid close button in button events. 1. This morning: I turned the laptop on an began to work. Then I had to go to another desk, so I closed the lid (like I used to in Feisty). Automatically laptop went into suspend mode as in Feisty. Everything OK. 2. When I arrived to the other desk, I opened the laptop, then it resumed and after almost 30 seconds of tension :-) the screen showed my KDE desktop OK... ¡but the sound didn't work! (even restarting artsd) Modules were loaded, no error message at all, but I couldn't listen to any sound. Well, I kept on working till the moment of returning at my desk. 3. Then, I closed the lid ... ¡and nothing happened! Laptop didn't go into suspend mode. Well, that was annoying, but I right clicked in the kpowersave icon and chose the suspend to RAM option. Then, laptop went into suspend mode and I closed the lid. 4. Now, I am at my desk. I have opened the lid and laptop has resumed. Everything is OK (not like yesterday, for instance): X is OK (KDE desktop OK), everything OK ... ¡¡¡and now sound works perfect!!! :-¿? I can listen to system sounds, music, ... even tried to play a xvid movie with mplayer and everything was OK. [Bug 185093] trackerd memory leak?
Public bug reported: Architecture: amd64 Version: 0.6.3-0ubuntu3 Trackerd seems to have a memory leak, I found this creating deleting about 85 small (0-2k) temporary text files every minute. After 30 minutes the process was running at half speed, after 4 hours the process had virtually stopped and 'top' showed trackerd to have used up all of the physical memory and 77% of the swap. I switched off trackerd, rebooted and restarted the process, it has been running for a week since with no memory increase or performance degradation. Even if it worked perfectly trackerd should be OFF by default, as a DBA I know that you do not add indexes that impact the system performance unless there is a compelling reason, and the service provided by trackerd isn't. [Bug 184692] Re: [Hardy] screen turns blank when X loading, ATI X1250
Unfortunately, lacking the log files is going to hamper debugging this issue, but perhaps there's some alternate techniques that could help... First, when using th e alpha2 cd, try running sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop quickly before X freezes. If you're lucky, this may shut off X before it locks up. Second, have you tried using a 64-bit version? Same issue, or does it work properly? Third, have you tried installing using the alternate CD? It may skip the step that causes the X failure. Fwiw, this bug sounds a lot like bug 127008, however afaik xresprobe is no longer being used during LiveCD boot. You could check via 'which xresprobe' - in theory it should no longer be present on the system. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- [Hardy] screen turns blank when X loading, ATI X1250 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/184692 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 185107] xen-tools needs to add udev file to handle xen network interfaces under gutsy
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xen-tools Gutsy's persistent network interface naming udev rules are causing Xen instances to have a new network interface name each time a DomU is booted. This is because Xen is dynamically generating a MAC for the DomU, and the /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules file stores the persistent name based on the MAC address. Rules like the following resolve the issue: SUBSYSTEM==net, SUBSYSTEMS==xen, DRIVERS==vif, ATTRS{nodename}==device/vif/0, NAME=eth0 SUBSYSTEM==net, SUBSYSTEMS==xen, DRIVERS==vif, ATTRS{nodename}==device/vif/1, NAME=eth1 etc I have been adding them to /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules manually, but they should probably be handled elsewhere. ** Affects: xen-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- xen-tools needs to add udev file to handle xen network interfaces under gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/185107 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
