[Bug 405828] Re: fsck always fails (superblock last write time in future) on ext4

2009-07-29 Thread Scott James Remnant
On Tue, 2009-07-28 at 14:16 +, Alexander Hartl wrote:

 I have installed ubuntu 9.10 alpha 3 with the kernel 2.6.31-4-generic and I
 converted my partitions from ext3 to ext 4 following this manual:
 http://biete.com/?p=182. With my home partition this worked without any
 trouble, but when I tried it with my root partition I got the error
 /dev/sda1: Superblock last write time is in the future. FIXED. when I
 rebooted. Then the system restarted. But during this restart the error occurs
 again, so I am not able to boot ubuntu anymore, because it always reboots.

 When I run fsck.ext4 from a ubuntu 8.10 live cd it tells me that the
 filesystem is clean.

From the sound of it, you don't have a UTC/localtime issue (in any case
they always affected people WEST of UTC), but let's just verify that.

Before AND after you run fsck.ext4 on the Live CD, please run the
following two commands and provide the output:

 date

 sudo hwclock --show

Then reboot the full system and press ESCAPE at the GRUB menu, highlight
the (recovery mode) option, *EDIT* it (don't boot), *EDIT* the
linux/kernel line and add init=/bin/bash to the end.

Boot that, it'll drop you into a shell fairly quickly.

Run those two commands again, also provide the output of

 grep UTC /etc/default/rcS

Now reboot -f, select recovery mode again (boot it this time) and
allow the fsck to run. After it completes, before rebooting, run the
three commands again and provide the output.

[Bug 390204] Re: Ubuntu hangs up from time to time when I try to copy files from ATA NTFS to SATA ext4 partition

2009-07-29 Thread Wei-Yee Chan
This sounds similar to a problem that I experienced yesterday.

I did a fresh installation of Ubuntu 9.04 recently and formatted every
partition to ext4. Yesterday, I was moving huge video files from my
home directory to a removable USB hard disk (formatted to ext4 as well)
when the system froze permanently (i.e. all hard disks stopped running
completely). I did this with a couple of my other removable USB hard
disks and the same thing happened many times.

The problem can be replicated by copying or moving files within the same
IDE hard disk as well. Just a while ago, the system froze when I
emptied Trash.

The computer has Windows XP installed, and no such problem problem
occurs when I'm running it.

However, as far as I know, I have not experienced any data loss.

2009-07-29 Thread Thierry Carrez
MIR report for qdox

== Availability ==
 * http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/q/qdox/, arch-all package
== Rationale ==
 * Build-time dependency of libjibx-java, which is a dependency of Eucalyptus
== Security ==
 * No CVE entries, no Secunia history.
 * No binaries, only a Java library (jar file) and associated javadoc
 * No network activity
 * No binary processing
 * Source code review: none
== Quality assurance ==
 * Package works out of the box without configuration, no debconf questions
 * No Debian bugs, Maintenance in Debian is calm
 * Upstream is vigorous
 * Upstream bug tracker: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/QDOX, no relevant bugs
 * Hardware: package doesn't deal with hardware
 * There is a test suite in upstream packaging and it is enabled in the Debian
packaging
== UI standards ==
 * n/a
== Standards compliance ==
 * Package is compliant with FHS
 * Debian policy: compliant
 * Package still uses gcj-compat-dev to build, compiling with openjdk breaks
testsuite
 * Packaging system: classic CDBS/ant build, uses simple-patchsys
== Dependencies not in main ==
 * Build depends: libjmock-java, see MIR in this same bug
== Maintenance ==
 * Package is a Java library without known bugs
 * Low maintenance cost is expected
 * The Debian and Ubuntu Java teams are responsible for monitoring the package.
== Background information ==
 * Purpose of package is clear from debian/control description
 * Upstream calls this software QDox
== Internationalization ==

[Bug 391373] Re: el plasmoide de la papelera no indica los elementos contenidos

2009-07-29 Thread David Planella
Brayan,

As the bug status indicates, the bug has been fixed, but the fix has not
yet been released.

We're planning to release a new language pack soon which will fix this
issue.

Regarding your question on which file you can install to fix this
locally, you can try the following:

1) Download the translated file in .MO format from
https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/jaunty/+source/kdebase-
workspace/+pots/plasma-applet-trash/es/+export

2) Install the downloaded file at the following location:

/usr/share/locale-langpack/es/LC_MESSAGES/plasma_applet_trash.mo

You might need to log out and back in for the changes to take effect.

After digging around a bit, I believe it was fixed, see bug 264104 in
module-init-tools_3.3-pre11-4ubuntu15. Are you happy for me to mark
this as fixed released now?

You are using a driver from a 3rd party source, that's not supported.
Most likely the updates install a new kernel package, and there's no
nvidia module for it. You need to install the driver again.

[Bug 330824] Re: Soft lockups (freezes) when deleting files from ext4 partitions on 2.6.28

2009-07-29 Thread Wei-Yee Chan
This sounds similar to a problem that I experienced yesterday.

I did a fresh installation of Ubuntu 9.04 recently and formatted every
partition to ext4. Yesterday, I was moving huge video files from my home
directory to a removable USB hard disk (formatted to ext4 as well) when
the system froze permanently (i.e. all hard disks stopped running
completely). I did this with a couple of my other removable USB hard
disks and the same thing happened many times.

The problem can be replicated by copying or moving files within the same
IDE hard disk as well. Just a while ago, the system froze when I emptied
Trash.

The computer has Windows XP installed, and no such problem problem
occurs when I'm running it.

However, as far as I know, I have not experienced any data loss.

With reference to a few of the comments made above, I have more than
40Gb on every partition at any time, so the locking up seems unrelated
to the amount of free hard disk space that one has.

[Bug 406351] [NEW] [3.11.1 transition][round 5/6] Please synchronize following packages from Debian sid in Karmic

2009-07-29 Thread David MENTRÉ
Public bug reported:

Hello,

We now start round 5 (of 6) of transition to OCaml 3.11.1 in Karmic.

Could you please synchronize following source packages from Debian sid in
Karmic?
synchronize ocaml-batteries (0.20090405+beta1-1 - 0.20090405+beta1-2)
synchronize ocsigen (1.1.0-2 - 1.2.0-2)

Moreover, one needs to synchronize latest ocaml-libvirt from Debian
unstable (0.6.1.0-1) but changing one Build-depends libgettext-ocaml-
dev ( 0.3.2-2) into libgettext-ocaml-dev (= 0.3.2-2). The Debian
developers have suggested this change.

Response from Debian Developers Sylvain Le Gall and Mehdi Dogguy:

The ( 0.3.2-2) is for transition and binNMU. The available version in
debian is 0.3.2-2+b1.

$ dpkg --compare-versions 0.3.2-2+b1  0.3.2-2  echo OK
OK

You can downgrade the build-depends to = 0.3.2 for ubuntu if you
like.

[Bug 125942] Re: Kaffeine DVB-plugin does not follow localization settings

Note that I have installed my system as an ubuntu 9.04 and added the
kde-dektop. I have no easy way to verify this issue on a pure kubuntu
9.04 installation. Hope this will do :)

[Bug 406293] Re: Cursor drifts randomly on Fujitsu Lifebook P1510D

2009-07-29 Thread Ricky Munroe
Sorry, I'm new to this. Thanks for moving it.

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: yelp
-
  My cursor drifts in a random direction at a random speed at seemingly
  random times. It started happening a few months ago when I was running
  Ubuntu 8.04 on the same machine, but the problem has been somewhat
  transient. A few days ago I reformatted my drive and installed Ubuntu
  8.10 from a USB CD drive. During the installation, the cursor started to
  drift again. It is particularly bad today, and I have been unable to
  find reports of anyone having a similar problem. I believe the Fujitsu
  Lifebook P1510D uses an Alps Stickpointer as its input device.

  ProblemType: Bug

Re: [Bug 162671] Re: VT6656 wireless chipset is unsupported

2009-07-29 Thread Forest Bond
@hal2k1

 The hardware that I have is a netbook. It uses an Intel Atom CPU, and
 although the VT6656 chip is a USB device, it is not removable from the
 interior of the netbook. I'd imagine that this is not an unusual usage
 of this chip.

Can you tell me which model the netbook is?

[Bug 390827] Re: Unrecoverable crash from sleeping, on HP 6735b with Ubuntu 9.04

2009-07-29 Thread 836v

Just to comment you that I went back to Ubuntu 9.04.

Again, everything was going just fine until a security update has
arrived, with new kernel 2.6.28-14, linux-restricted-modules-generic -
2.6.28.11.14, etc. And once restarting, the same quoted black screen
came up.

There is the same problem with this version of kernel, as well.

Fortunately, if at Grub I choose to start with the old kernel
2.6.28-13 everything goes Ok (I am writing this from such version of the
kernel).

Rgds,
Victor
