[ubuntu-in] Setup differences in Ubuntu and arch.
Hi, My base system is.an Ubuntu 10.10 system. I also recently installed arch Linux. My point is want to know why so much different in setup on the network side for both Ubuntu and arch 1. In arch /etc/ there is no /network/interfaces file 2. Also to start stop networks there seems to be. [Ubuntu-QC] Problème de synchronisation avec une KVM
Bonjour, Il y a quelques années, j'utilisais une switch KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) mais avec Linux, la souris ne se resynchronisait pas très bien. Il fallait que je redémarre mon Linux. Comme j'ai dit, le tout date de quelques années et je me demande si ce problème est toujours existant? Je pose la question parce que j'en ai trouvé un pas cher mais j'hésite à l'acheter. L'année dernière, ou il y a un peu plus d'un an, suite à des difficultés de réception sur la plate-forme Linux du nouveau site Tou.tv de Radio-Canada, plusieurs d'entre nous avons fait parvenir une lettre à ce sujet à l'ombudsman, qui nous a répondu la même chose, à savoir que les choix technologiques et les questions techniques ne relèvent pas de son mandat. Le seul moyen restait de contacter Radio-Canada directement via l'option commentaires et suggestions, ce que nous avons fait, pour se faire répondre que des techniciens se penchaient sur le problème. L'ont-ils résolu? Jusqu'à un certain point, mais le gros du travail est resté du côté des linuxiens et de leur débrouillardise plutôt que du bon vouloir des techniciens de Radio-Canada. Tout ça pour dire que Radio-Canada, et sans vouloir offenser personne et paraître politiquement incorrect, ce dont à vrai dire je me fiche, que Radio-Canada, donc, a vendu son âme à Microsoft. C'est une Trendnet, semblable à la mienne (je m'étais trompé) elle marche très bien dans Linux, mais pas en se servant de la hotkey clavier (touche Scroll Lock), il faut se servir des boutons sur la switch... My notes from 2008! say to mount my NAS by runnng this command sudo mount -t cifs //192.168.1.10/Public http://192.168.1.11/Public /media/public -o user=QNAP/username%password BUT I am getting an error that media/public does not exist. I assumed that this would create media/public, do I need to create this in advance and indeed is this the best place to mount it. If you didn't file any bugs or otherwise note down what it was that went wrong, the only way to know really would be to try it and see. For what it's worth, Compiz is working fine on the few PCs I've got running 10.10, but I don't think I'd used it at all while they were 10.04 boxes. Hi Miranda, I am using ardour with hydrogen and Muse (instead of Rosegarden, because I never got it to sync properly via jack). UBS is a great system for audio production, the only thing I´m missing from ardour is the capability to build side-chain effects. Typically, what we would do is create a rhythm track and then he improvises vocals and lyrics while I play the keyboards. After about ten minutes of noodling around while recording, I take the vocals and midi data, chop it up, organize it into a song, assign synth sounds to the midi data, process the vocals, and record any additional instrumentation it needs to flesh it out. I know that I want to use Hydrogen, auto talent, sound fonts, synths, and effects plug ins, but I'm not sure what the best sequencer or DAW would be to use to for recording or mixing, or how to go about pulling everything together. Do I have to use Ladish with a sequencer and a DAW and route everything together, or can I do most of this inside of one program? I'm thinking qtractor looks like the easiest to get a handle on, but the lack of envelope automation for fx, panning, and volume is sort of holding me back from using it. I use those a lot and I don't know how I would get along without them. I also need to be able to chop up the vocals and move the parts around fairly quickly. Also, I need to be able to save sessions so I can work on something here and there. I've seen that Ardour will be coming out with midi support in the future, so should I just wait to use Linux for what I want to do until it comes out? Would Muse be able to do what I want? I read somewhere that envelope automation is available in muse, but I haven't been able to find any info on how to use it. I'm guessing rosegarden could do all of this, but it looks difficult to use. Maybe that's unfair assumption though. I'm not sure. I don't mean to sound picky, but the interface on rosegarden looks very difficult t navigate to my eyes. I've searched on the web for comprehensive tuts, but I'm not finding much on my own. If anyone would be willing to blog a tut on how they put together their music, I would be forever grateful. Even if your music is totally different, just seeing how someone else goes about setting everything up to make a song from start to finish would be really helpful for me and anyone else who wants to get into Linux audio production and doesn't know where to start. Also, if anyone has some advice on how to get the Linux Sampler up and running with the piano library on Ubuntu, that would help me out. I know I need the Linux sampler back end along with jsampler or fantasia, but I haven't had any luck getting to it to work. I also play piano and do my own singer songwriter stuff. I would like to be able to record piano as midi data and use Linux Sampler for the piano sound. Since it's solo piano, it has to sound decent. How do I record it along with vocals? Wireless
Is there some secret to getting wireless on a laptop to just connect and stay connected? I have a home wireless network with WEP. I can always get it to connect but never automatically. I'm using gui networking tools. None seems to be any better than another. They all eventually connect, but I usually have to remove the connection I've stored and create a new one. Any ideas? Outro detalhe importante é manter a ordem de disposição dos periféricos nas portas, dando preferência à sequência master slave na IDE e ordem numérica nas SATAs. Olá pessoal, Tenho um HD de 750gb, mas cometi uma pequena falha Estou com uma partição de 20gb de Ubuntu, 20gb de Fedora e 700gb pra arquivos. Tenho pouco mais de 260gb livres ainda, tem como eu aumentar minha partição do Ubuntu? Ou só criando uma lado a lado e depois apagar a atual do ubuntu e aumentá-la com o que foi gerado? Os 260gb estão alocados, mas é uma outra partição, que destinei apenas para arquivos. Esses 10Gb que parece estar sobrando em algum lugar, não está, porque nunca é exato né o tamanho, da pouco menos de 750Gb. No Live-CD, use a opção de experimentar o sistema e abra o editor de partições (gparted). Ele é todo visual, é fácil de usar. Diminua a partição grande, movimente-a para frente e aumente a partição do Ubuntu. Olá nethell, tudo bem? É o seguinte, eu tenho um sata 2 de 250GB e meu DVD também é sata. Somente este Hd é IDE e está em cabo flet único na porta principal como master. Vou dá uma varrida na bios e vê se tem algo errado por lá. Fiz um teste de leitura nele e tá dando uma média de 42MBs enquanto o sata 87MBs. Realmente bem mais lento. Mas não sei se esta lentidão seria a único responsável pelo desempenho. Por exemplo até para abrir o FF tem que esperar. Se chamar um programa mais pesado fica parecendo que estou num k6 hehehe Depois posto se encontrei algo errado na bios. Como o Xisberto falou vai precisar de sorte. Isto porque a partição que vai diminuir tem que estar ao lado da sda2 que quer aumentar senão não tem jeito. Pelo gparted você vai ter o mapa do seu Hd com as partições e as posições dela. Talvez apagar alguma e reduzir outra e por aí vai. sobrando espaço ao lado da sda2 que quer aumentar. Mas como foi dito a perca de dados é um risco então backup primeiro, apesar de eu sempre fazer isso e nunca perdi nada. Agora deixe para uma hora com tempo para realizar isto, dependendo do tamanho da partição leva horas A ultima vez que diminui uma de 200 GB para 180GB e agregar os 20 em uma outra levou mais de 4 horas. Se tiver dúvida poste um print do gparted que aí esclarecemos com detalhes o que tem que ser feito. Abraços. Neste Fujitsu (caco velho) roda um XP SP3 sem problemas e sem qualquer travamento, a única coisa que fica ligeiramente prejudicada é a transferência de arquivos, bem mais lenta que no Hitachi. Então com base nestes dados aqui, presumo que a tua controladora IDE não está ativada (nesta mother funciona mesmo sem ativação, mas o desempenho fica prejudicado) ou então há algum erro na instalação do Ubuntu. nethell Geninho, Se esse HD é IDE e você está utilizando algum SATA na máquina, certamente irá sentir uma diferença na velocidade de acesso a esse HD, mas não é nada o suficiente para causar lentidão excessiva ou travamentos. Se o 10.04 não está acusando erros, creio que o HD está confiável e o problema pode ser na setagem do bios. Dê uma geral nas opções para a controladora IDE no bios, em algumas mothers com controladora SATA alguns recursos vem desativados por padrão e podem estar ocasionando isso. Outro detalhe importante é manter a ordem de disposição dos periféricos nas portas, dando preferência à sequência master slave na IDE e ordem numérica nas SATAs. Existe alguma forma de configurar um atalho dentro dele que ao clicar abra a janela de senha para entrar como root. Definitivamente tem alguma coisa errada com meu sistema. Conferi toda a bios e tá tudo ok. Esta taxa de transferência mais baixa que o sata não alteraria o desempenho como o que esta acontecendo. O fato é que desde que tirei o SO do HD sata e coloquei neste o sistema danou-se. Este HD sobrou de umas manutenções que fiz por aqui então resolvi colocar ele no meu desk e deixei o de 250 compartilhado na rede via samba para backup e programas que uso nas minhas manutenções. Esta instalação que está neste HD é limpa e toda atualizada. If it takes less than a minute to start, I think it's a win. You could compare startup times, but since upstream disabled some of the bytecode checks for 0.96.3, I'm not sure how much difference there is currently. More details: this is xubuntu x86-64. If I just launch kvm and immediately kill it, it exits with one click on the X. But if I clock on the display area to let KVM do a mouse grab and then alt-escape out of the mouse grab, afterwards the KVM window ignores the first click on the X. (Even if I switch focus to another window and switch focus back in between doing so, the first click on the X is always ignored after KVM's done a mouse grab.) That would be nice to have as a built-in functionality, but apparently it differs from mod_chroot. I have added ChrootDir /var/www to /etc/apache2/conf.d/my_defaults, but it seems like the fastcgi processes now get started outside of the chroot / before Apache chroots: I am getting the following error (only /var/www/usr/lib/libc-client.so.2007e exists, not /usr/lib/libc-client.so.2007e): /var/www/bin/php4-fcgi: error while loading shared libraries: libc-client.so.2007e: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Apart from that there appears to be another problem, fastcgi processes (PHP) return Service Temporarily Unavailable, while requests to normal resources (image) work fine. This is likely also related to the order in which chrooting and spawning the fastcgi processes happens. It looks like I am hitting this problem under kvm_amd. I've tried several guest kernels (CentOS 5 ISO, Maverick PXE boot and ISO, Squeeze PXE and netboot ISO). All hang basically as soon as the kernel loads. No VGA output, no Serial output even with options 'earlyprintk=ttyS0,115200 debug apic=debug'. I have yet to find a kernel that will actually boot though I have not tried Fedora 14. Fedora 14 Live CD hangs with a white box on screen right after the splash finishes counting down. I have to assume it is doing the same thing I just booted into a non-PAE host kernel and both F14 and Squeeze PXE boot.
