[Bug 663776] Re: Search dialog can not support iBus

2010-12-21 Thread Karl Lattimer
Work has begun on this code and can be found at; lp:~karl-qdh/nux/nux
.gtkentry-wrapper

specifically in the examples/gtk_entry_wrapper.cpp/.h files

Currently focus in/out events are being passed correctly and ibus
switches input method appropriately, however keystrokes between nux and
gdk are incompatible and the mouse position events are currently not in
the right place so dragging to select etc is not actually possible..

Todo list is in the gtk_entry_wrapper.cpp file comments at the top

Bunch of things for jaytaoko to work on, mostly polish lookup tables and
a bit of co-ordinate jangling/testing.

[Bug 693061] [NEW] Apply button disabled

2010-12-21 Thread Greg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Description:Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Release:10.04
network-manager:
  Installed: 0.8-0ubuntu3

Also affects Ubuntu 9.10
network-manager from karmic main packages

I found it exceedingly difficult to configure a static IP address in
network-manager. The 'Apply' button is grayed out and will not become
'active' until and unless certain clicks or keystrokes are made.
Notably, you must use the enter key to effectively enter a
configuration in the 'Addresses' section of the UI.

The UI interface elements should not depend on a particular behavior
that otherwise would prevent the user from accomplishing the task.

To reproduce this bug:
Setup a static configuration, but use the mouse to click out of the 'gateway'
text input (do not press the enter or tab keys) Continue to enter DNS
server information and Search domains configuration. You will have supplied
all the information required to configure a static IP address, however the
Apply button will remain grayed out so that you will not be able to actually
save your settings. In this condition, the user is left wondering what
additional information needs to be supplied in order to save the configuration;
or, what information is conflicting with some unknown ruleset that would
disable the 'Apply' button.

Similarly, you can click the Add button to add another IP address to
the interface and easily end up in a situation where the Apply button
is grayed out. After clicking 'Add', if you immediately click off the
input area, those form elements for input will become invisible -
however they do persist as improper (empty) interface settings so that
the Apply button will be grayed out. If you click Add several
times, you will need to click on each empty record, and press the
'Delete' button successively until the empty sets are gone before the
Apply button will be active again.

See the attached screenshot for a fully configured interface with a
disabled 'Apply' button.

[Bug 693060] [NEW] lpapicache metaclasses make using staging messy

2010-12-21 Thread Stefano Rivera

[Bug 692791] Re: Lots of Evolution packages are left behind after uninstallation

2010-12-21 Thread Chris Wilson
It's related, though I'm pretty certain that it's not just evolution-
common that's the subject of this particular report. When browsing USC
for 'evolution', I notice a lot of installed packages that are a part of
evolution. evolution-data-server, libebook, libdataserver are just a
few. It seems that a lot of Evolution's back-end packages are being left
behind after it is removed.

I can confirm this issue. Looks like the link got sidetracked somehow.
It probably should be pointing at the Synaptic Package Manger in yelp
 instead.

Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!

This is a situation that we face pretty frequently - how to link to
documentation that is in yelp? I've previously linked out to the html pages
for that help (these would be the pages on the gnome website.) This would
take the user out of the Xubuntu user help, though.

Thoughts?

Even with the patch, I can reproduce the issue with the www,opensc-

broad enough to encompass instances like this one that still have
issues.

[Bug 693068] [NEW] From internal to internal and other strings as well

2010-12-21 Thread GTriderXC
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: checkbox

I'm translating the program into Polish and it's often either hard to or
impossible to understand a string.
In this case the command doesn't make any sense:

Firewire HDD verification procedure: 1.- Plug a Firewire HDD into the
computer 2.- A window should be opened asking which action should be
performed (open folder, photo manager, etc). 3.- Copy some files from
the internal/firewire HDD to the firewire/internal HDD

Copy some files from the internal/firewire HDD to the
firewire/internal HDD
Is my English so weak or the person's who wrote the commands? There are plenty
of such cases one of which I reported a few days ago where the grammar was
incorrect. Just read it all one more time. So that I could know whether to copy
files from internal to external or external to internal.

[Bug 160092] Re: apparmor rules break filters in /usr/local

2010-12-21 Thread DiegoV
Hi,

I had this problem with current Ubuntu version (10.10). After some
update, the printer, that is a Lexmark with the driver provided by the
manufacturer, stopped working. I found this bug and after using the
suggest command

  sudo aa-complain cupsd
  ^^^

The printer started working again.

So I think there is still a bug, or a new one, as long as I should not
be obligated to do such command (luckily I found it).

Bellow the dmesg output, with the first lines showing the situation
before the aa-complain and the last ones with successful printing, after
the command.

I can provide additional information if it's necessary.

Thanks,
DiegoV

[Bug 692791] Re: Lots of Evolution packages are left behind after uninstallation

2010-12-21 Thread Omer Akram
libebook and libedataserver are shared libraries and are needed for
other things too (try purging them) though evolution-data-server should
be removed(there might be other reasons for that too). In either case a
bug report in debian bug tracker would be more helpful I think.

[Bug 693075] [NEW] df -h ... columns do not line up in non-english language

2010-12-21 Thread Julian Brelsford
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: coreutils

go to terminal and run df -h when the system language is set to french
(possibly the same problem occurs in other languages). the column
headings are too far to the right so they do not match up to the columns
they are intended to correspond to.

it appears that the number of spaces to the right of each heading does
not adjust itself to account for the different length of the headings
(since french uses more letters to write the same thing)

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10
Package: coreutils 8.5-1ubuntu3
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-23.41-generic 2.6.35.7

[Bug 693073] [NEW] Panel and application Menus working but not visible

2010-12-21 Thread John Stevenson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

When logging into the Unity desktop the menus from both the panel
indicators and any applications do not draw on the screen. The menu
items are there, its just that they are not rendering on the screen -
Invisible menus.

The menus are active as for example I can click on the power icon
indicator, move the mouse down and select reboot, shutdown, etc. I just
cant see the menu as I move the mouse down, so its a bit of a guess
selecting menu items.

This same Invisible menus effect occurs for all applications, even
those that do not display there menubar in the panel (eg. firefox).
Drop-downs in web pages and in diaglog boxes also do not show up, but I
can still select them and scroll through their options using the up/down
arrow keys.

Occasionally when I log in the panel theme reverts back to an older
looking theme, with blue coloured icons, rather than the black and white
panel icons of the new Ubuntu theme. When the other theme is displayed,
icons in the Unity laucher are also displayed using the older icon set.

Also I have a problem with the screen saver not displaying when
activated. Again the screen saver is working and I can unlock the
screen by blindly typing in my password. I have disabled the screen
saver for the time being.

Sorry if this report is file incorrectly under Unity, I am not sure if
there is a better place.

[Bug 693077] [NEW] [requestsync] should support getting information out of a .dsc file

2010-12-21 Thread Benjamin Drung
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-dev-tools

requestsync should be able to get information out of a .dsc file instead
of getting them from Debian, because there is a delay between the upload
of a package to Debian and getting the information about this upload
from Debian.

Use case: I want to upload a package to Debian and directly afterwards
request a sync, but not wait hours between the upload to Debian and the
sync request.

Re: [Bug 690784] Re: Suspend and Hibernate options are not available

2010-12-21 Thread Jim Campbell
On Wed, Dec 15, 2010 at 1:55 PM, Lionel Le Folgoc
lio...@lefolgoc.netwrote:

Yes, they are hidden by default since maverick (cf. the changelog of
 xubuntu-default-settings 10.10.0). But xfce4-power-manager provides
these features anyway (right-click on the tray icon, and it can also set
what action to do on a lid close, power button press, etc.).

I'm not so sure that hiding these options from the user is the best way to
go, though. Is there a reason for why the suspend / hibernate buttons were
hidden for 10.10? I think most users would look for those buttons, and
wouldn't think to just configure the options via the power manager.

Dano, if the option isn't re-enabled, we should document the various options
to either re-enable the suspend and hibernate buttons (they can click a few
buttons to do that), or to use the power-manager to set the desired
behaviors.

Jim

[Bug 290391] Re: Parcellite causes system to freeze

2010-12-21 Thread twins
this bug has haunted me in ubuntu 9.10, 10.04 and 10.10 . It happens
randomly. I press the hotkey for parcellite (ctrl+alt+h) and it does not
appear. In # top parcellite is at 99.9% cpu . I just pkill parcellite,
start it again and press right click-preferences, uncheck the Save
History and click ok. Then I pres again right click - preferences and
check the box again. It is working normal for a while, then it starts
acting up again. It happens at random times, with random amount of data
in the clipboard.

in /boot anyhow, the incomplete stuff seems to be sorted by a quick scan
of my disk. The reporter seems happy in that case to work with those
files. There is a cost of having them built in, as they are loaded into
memory permentantly, though a quick poke here says we are talking around
40k wasted which perhaps isn't so bad. But that is the trade off,
memory wasted during boot all the time. As for the link, I guess we
might be able to ship them compressed as well and symlink to them.

[Bug 692655] Re: Please merge nautilus-actions 3.0.2-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2010-12-21 Thread Bhavani Shankar
Well angel,

I think the 3.0 format change is better done in debian rather than
ubuntu

so can you revert that change and use a generic quilt patch system
maybe?

what do you think?

[Bug 689766] Re: [MIR] libasyncns needed as b-d of loudmoyth

Approved. I fixed debian/copyright to note that the license is actually
LGPL-2.1+, not LGPL-2+. It would also be nice if there was a bug
subscriber.

[Bug 685608] Re: Bluetooth Adapter Not Present After Upgrade to Ubuntu 10.10

2010-12-21 Thread Joseph Crawford
I am having the exact same problem. It appears that Bluez does not see
my adapter but it does show up under dmesg and lsusb. 10.04 worked
perfect, I would love to see this get fixed as I as well use the same
keyboard and mouse and have relied on it forever. Going back to the old
style tapity-tap keyboards is not a solution in my mind.

Please fix this issue :)

Hello All,

I had the same issue which I have resolved by updating atpdaemon with the
synaptic package manager.
It works now.

 Hi Martin

I am very new to Ubuntu, still need to learn a lot.

What I did to solve my problem was to do an update with Update Manager
and once that was done the concern was resolved.

I then ran Ubuntu Software Center and was able to install programs as
 per normal.

 Thanks for your assistance.

 Regards
 Paul
