[Bug 1193709] [NEW] Should add geda-gnetlist dependency
Public bug reported: Installing geda-xgsch2pcb brings gschem and pcb and everything seems ready to start drawing an electronic project. However, having drawn the schematic one can not update the layout in pcb, unless geda-gnetlist is installed manually. Otherwise, one only obtains this error in terminal and PCB window opens without components: gsch2pcb: gsch2pcb: gnetlist command (gnetlist -q -g gsch2pcb -o converter4V.new.pcb -m gnet-gsch2pcb-tmp.scm converter4V-page1.sch) failed. gsch2pcb: At least gnetlist 20030901 is required for m4-xxx options. Installation of dependencies and recompiling of hplip solved the problem. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/798596 for details. [Bug 798596] Re: hplip delays last page on LaserJet 1200, error message
The hplip compilation, which resolved the problem, required also installation of these dependencies: libcups2 cups libcups2-dev cups-bsd cups-client libcupsimage2-dev libdbus-1-dev build-essential ghostscript openssl libjpeg62-dev libsnmp-dev libtool libusb-dev python-imaging policykit-1 policykit-1-gnome python-qt4 python-qt4-dbus python-dbus python-gobject python-dev python-notify python python-reportlab libsane libsane-dev sane-utils xsane At least one of them is necessary for Lubuntu to print properly. On the other hand installing all these packages in Lubuntu would inflate it by 50+ MB. It would also bring in applications, that are not intended to: such as python-qt4, xsane etc. However I don't want to test all these manually. Each step would require uninstalling and reinstalling several packages and test printing, which can take really a long time. - Please, can you point me to the package which is the most probable reason for this Lubuntu printing bug? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/798596 Title: hplip delays last page on LaserJet 1200, error message To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/798596/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 799525] [NEW] Bad user experience with hibernation in Lubuntu
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: lubuntu-desktop This is only a little complaint about the look and feel of Lubuntu 11.10 alpha 1 hibernation. 1) The login screen is simply ugly. (At least it could be stripped down to bare minimum and it would look much better.) First I suggest changing the weird image of /usr/share/pixmaps/xscreensaver.svg to some decent Lubuntu logo. 2) The shutdown window sometimes (?) remains after waking the computer up from hibernation. I have to close the window then manually. Maybe this is caused by double click on the shutdown icon on the lxpanel. 3) There should be a simple option of disabling the password protection after waking from hibernation. (This was an issue with gnome, which has been finally resolved. Many people would use this also in Lubuntu and it could be even the default option, IMO.) ** Affects: lubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: graphics hibernation lubuntu xscreensaver -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/799525 Title: Bad user experience with hibernation in Lubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lubuntu-meta/+bug/799525/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 798229] Re: Lubuntu 11.10 does not print
OK, I will report the bug noted in #5 in upstream. Using the HP LaserJet 1200 pcl3, hpcups 3.11.5 [en] or HP LaserJet 1200 hpijs pcl3, 3.11.5 [en] it takes 5 minutes draft and high quality mode to print. After initiating the print job ls | lpr, there is little CPU activity caused by ghostscript, but then the print queue goes empty and nothing occupies CPU. The printer blinks for 5 minutes, then prints. I observed the delay applies to the last page only. When a second job comes, it makes the printer print in few seconds. However the last page gets 2345X@PJL SET PAGEPROTECT=AUTO at the bottom and then sometimes a next page gets printed with @PJL SET DENSITY=5 @PJL SE. [Bug 798229] [NEW] Lubuntu 11.10 does not print
Public bug reported: === Short description === The printer (HP LaserJet 1200) is not autodetected properly in Lubuntu 11.10. It reports on USB, but it does not print. Manual printer settings do not make any change, nor with different drivers (CUPS+Gutenprint, Foomatic, HPLIP). Maybe I just need your advice on diagnostics. === What i tried === Printing under Lubuntu 11.10 alpha 1 is broken. I had Ubuntu 10.10 before, and my HP LaserJet 1200 was working out-of-the-box. Now it is not. 1) After installing Lubuntu having the printer plugged in, the system choose tu use the HP LaserJet 1200-CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.6 Simplified [en] driver. A sample print job was queued as processing, but the printer did not do anything. The printer has status Waiting for the printer to become available (system-config-printer) and File '/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/sRGB Profile.icc' not found (in CUPS page at http://localhost:631). 1b) The same when I choose the HP LaserJet 1200-CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.6 [en] driver. 1c) I installed the foomatic-filters-ppds package. The printer still has status Waiting for the printer to become available (system-config- printer), but CUPS reports: If you have more than one HP LaserJet 1200 printer connected to this machine, please recreate the print queues so that they get updated device URIs with serial numbers. Otherwise CUPS will not be able to distinguish them. 2) I removed the printer (at system-config-printer). I restarted CUPS (sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart). Adding new printer was not automatic (!), I had to click Add Printer. Choose HP, HP Lj1200 Foomatic/Postscript [en] (recommended). During adding in system-config-printer, the program printed out in the terminal: Incorrect IEEE 1284 Device ID: [u'drv:///hpijs.drv/hp-laserjet_1200-hpijs-pcl3.ppd'] Actual ID is MFG:Hewlett-Packard;MDL:HP LaserJet 1200; Please report a bug against the HPLIP component Incorrect IEEE 1284 Device ID: [u'drv:///hpijs.drv/hp-laserjet_1200-hpijs-pcl3.ppd'] Actual ID is MFG:Hewlett-Packard;MDL:HP LaserJet 1200; Please report a bug against the HPLIP component The printer seems to be added successfully at a first glance, printing a test page marks the print job as Finished. But the printer starts blinking green light as if it was receiving data and does nothing for at least half an hour. 3) After installing the hplip package, the printer adding behaves differently. It does not ask for the manufacturer and driver, but only for some details regarding page geometry and printer memory. 4) I tried the hpijs pcl3 driver. The printer still behaves the same wrong way. It blinks, but does not print. What shall I try next? @Till: I removed printer in system-config-printer, turned it on and connected. According to htop and my memory, the system-config-printer-udev was launched. (However, this either kills the desktop session, or only resets the user settings -- none of which is acceptable.) [Bug 796843] Re: lxtask shows 100% CPU usage regardless of actual usage
I think this is a real CPU consumption, probably caused by the lxsession process. [Bug 555828] Re: Regression: flag -pg on /usr/src/$(uname -r)/Makefile prevents acerhk-source package from compiling, cutting internet access
OK, so this may be a high-priority issue for many notebook users. According to [http://code.google.com/p/aceracpi/], acerhk is obsoleted in favor of acer_acpi, and acer_acpi is now obsoleted in favor of acer_wmi. The latter does not support a broad range of hardware, some of which _were_ supported by acerhk. If nothing relevant changed in the kernel substantially, the task is just to port the acerhk functionality to the new module. Some relevant info on acer_wmi: http://lxr.linux.no/linux+v2.6.31/Documentation/laptops/acer-wmi.txt I have written a mail to the current (?) acer-wmi maintainer, Carlos Corbacho, to find out what is the current situation. -- Regression: flag -pg on /usr/src/$(uname -r)/Makefile prevents acerhk-source package from compiling, cutting internet access https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/555828 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 555828] Re: Regression: flag -pg on /usr/src/$(uname -r)/Makefile prevents acerhk-source package from compiling, cutting internet access
These are rather bad news, because the present version of wistron_btns does not make any visible change at my Acer Travelmate 243C. Thus the problem still persists: it would be very nice if someone skilled fixes (and maintains) the acerhk module to support current kernel versions. -- Regression: flag -pg on /usr/src/$(uname -r)/Makefile prevents acerhk-source package from compiling, cutting internet access https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/555828 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 555828] Re: Regression: flag -pg on /usr/src/$(uname -r)/Makefile prevents acerhk-source package from compiling, cutting internet access
@matez: Nicolas is right. I tried commenting out the KBUILD_CFLAGS-line, but the compilation on the 2.6.37-2 kernel failed somewhere else. I wrote a mail to the original author of acerhk to find out if anyone maintained the package, but I got no reply yet. Absence of acerhk probably accounts for unavailable brightness control, Fn key (along with NumLk, Home and End keys) and the temperature sensors on many laptops. Nothing vital, but still, someone experienced really should fix this package, please. I hope this will not be as hard, but I do not have enough experience to hope to fix the compilation errors in reasonable time. -- Regression: flag -pg on /usr/src/$(uname -r)/Makefile prevents acerhk-source package from compiling, cutting internet access https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/555828 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 555828] Re: Regression: flag -pg on /usr/src/$(uname -r)/Makefile prevents acerhk-source package from compiling, cutting internet access
On Maverick, Acer TravelMate 240, the acerhk module cannot be compiled against the kernel 2.6.37-2 even with the flag -pg fix. Then the deciding error mesage becomes: /usr/src/modules/acerhk/acerhk.c:2941: error: unknown field ‘ioctl’ specified in initializer Note: This disables for me the brightness control, as the acer-wmi module does not support the TravelMate 240. -- Regression: flag -pg on /usr/src/$(uname -r)/Makefile prevents acerhk-source package from compiling, cutting internet access https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/555828 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
