You can open folders using totem if you right-click a folder   open with  
totem (movie player).
There is a problem however, if you try and open a folder that ends with .o or 
.z (capital or lower letters)

How to reproduce: Rename a folder to Myfolder.O and try to open it
with totem using right-click.

MyfolderO opens fine.
Myfolder.O causes an error:  An error occurred -- Could not open location; you 
might not have permission to open the file.

Just to note that it's not a file permission issue, it's on an ext4
partition and file permissions are properly set. If I try to open the
folder renamed (without .O) it works.

Το ανέφερε ο ίδιος, χρειάζεται κανονισμό από κάποιο υπουργείο ή τεχνικό
υποστήριξης που λέει χρησιμοποιήστε το BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) αντί το CC
(Carbon Copy) :)

Αν έχεις τρόπο να καλέσεις κάποια συνέλευση και να κάνεις πρόταση για χρήση
του BCC επεξηγώντας τη χρησιμοτητα του, πιστεύω πως θα ήταν επικοδομητικό.

Είχα παρόμοια περίπτωση με μια πρεσβεία, και τους ζήτησα αν γίνεται να
χρησιμοποιούν το BCC. Το αποτέλεσμα ήταν να μην ξαναπάρω email. :P

I installed the latest ubuntu 3.4.4 on ubuntu 12.04 (from kernel mainline ppa) 
and the package bcmwl-kernel-source  from ubuntu quantal repositories:

Η λύση μεσω nautilus (GUI):
Εγκατέστησε το πακέτο *seahorse-nautilus* και κάνε log out/login, μετά δεξί
κλικ στο αρχείο και θα πρέπει να έχει επιλογή Sign.

Η λύση μέσω τερματικού είναι με το *--default-key*:

δείγμα, 10-15 mb. :)

Ευχαριστώ για την ιδέα αλλά αυτή η ρύθμιση δεν επαναφέρει πλήρως την

Η ρύθμιση λέει στον Firefox ότι, κάθε φορά που κάποια εφαρμογή του ζητά
να ανοίξει κάποιο link, το νέο tab που προκύπτει να πάει «πίσω» από τα
υπόλοιπα tabs που είναι ήδη ανοιχτά. Αυτό πράγματι κάνει τον Firefox να
μην κλέβει το focus. Επίσης όμως, η «μπάρα» του Firefox στο κάτω panel
παύει να γίνεται highlight και ο τίτλος της παραμένει σταθερός.
Αποτέλεσμα: δεν υπάρχει οπτική ένδειξη ότι το link άνοιξε...

Στην παλιά συμπεριφορά, ο Firefox δεν έκλεβε το focus και επιπλέον η
«μπάρα» του γινόταν highlight και ο τίτλος άλλαζε αντικατοπτρίζοντας το
τελευταίο link που είχε ανοίξει.

Χωρίς αυτή την οπτική ένδειξη ότι «το link άνοιξε», μπορεί μετά από μισή
ώρα email  rss reading και έχοντας κλικάρει 20 links, να γυρίσω στον
Firefox και να δω ότι, λόγω κάποιου προβλήματος, δεν έχει ανοίξει κανένα...

Από περιέργεια έκανα το εξής: Εστησα στα γρήγορα ένα φρέσκο Ubuntu 10.04
σε μία virtual μηχανή και δοκίμασα τη συμπεριφορά του Firefox /πριν/
κάνω τα updates (νομίζω ήταν η έκδοση 10). Οντως, /δεν/ έκλεβε το focus.
Μετά έκανα τα updates και ξαναδοκίμασα. Ο Firefox έκλεβε το focus... (Εκ
των υστέρων σκέφτηκα ότι θα ήταν καλύτερο να είχα κάνει accept μόνο τα
updates του Firefox ώστε να αποκλείσω το ενδεχόμενο να φταίει κάποιο
άλλο πακέτο...)

Anyway, παίδες ευχαριστώ πολύ για τη βοήθεια και το χρόνο που αφιερώσατε
στο πρόβλημά μου αλλά νομίζω it's time to admit defeat and move on :-)
Αλλωστε, αν υπολογίσω τον χρόνο των επιπλέον ALT+TAB που θα πρέπει να
κάνω, ζήτημα να βγαίνει πάνω από το 1/10 του χρόνου που ξόδεψα
προσπαθώντας να λύσω το πρόβλημα :-)

Μετάφερε το αρχείο CH01_2012APR13090003_0.dv4 κατ'ευθείαν στον προσωπικό
σου φάκελο (π.χ. /home/thanos/) και ξαναδοκίμασε την εντολή:

file CH01_2012APR13090003_0.dv4

To μήνυμα No such file or directory λέει πως δεν μπορεί να βρει το αρχείο.
Μπορείς εναλλακτικά με την εντολή cd myfolder να πας στο φάκελο όπου
βρίσκονται τα αρχεία.

να «πετάγεται» στο foreground κάθε φορά που κάνω κλικ σε κάποιο link σε

Αλλωστε νομίζω ότι το browser:autofocus σχετίζεται με το αυτόματο focus

Χμμμ... Μήπως εννοείς το New tab page [1] το οποίο, όταν ανοίγεις νέο
tab, σου δείχνει κουτάκια με τις ιστοσελίδες που επισκέπτεσαι συχνά; Αν
δε σου αρέσει απενεργοποιείται εύκολα (από το κουμπάκι Hide new tab
page πάνω δεξιά) αλλά εγώ δεν εννοώ αυτό :-)

Δεν ήταν το πιθανότερο λογικό συμπέρασμα μέχρι την έκδοση 12... :-)

Βασικά πιστεύω ότι είναι θέμα προτίμησης. Εγώ κλικάρω διάφορα links σε
emails, RSS feeds κλπ και μετά πηγαίνω στον Firefox και τα διαβάζω.
Κάποιος άλλος μπορεί να το κάνει διαφορετικά.

Απορία: Αυτή η συμπεριφορά δε θα έπρεπε να καθορίζεται από το Gnome; Πώς
έγινε και άλλαξε με την αναβάθμιση του Firefox;

Υπάρχει συνεργασία μεταξύ ubuntu-gr και mailman;

O Firefox κλέβει το focus

Γεια σε όλους,

Μετά την πρόσφατη αναβάθμιση του Firefox στην έκδοση 13 (Ubuntu 10.04),
κάθε φορά που κάνω κλικ σε κάποιο link σε κάποιο άλλο πρόγραμμα (π.χ.
Thunderbird) ο Firefox κλέβει το focus (δηλαδή έρχεται στο foreground).

Μέχρι την έκδοση 12, οι σελίδες άνοιγαν στο background (δηλαδή χωρίς να
«πετάγεται» μπροστά ο Firefox) και η «μπάρα» του Firefox στο κάτω panel
γινόταν highlight.

Επειδή συνηθίζω να ανοίγω διάφορα links από διάφορες εφαρμογές και μετά
να πηγαίνω στον Firefox (που τα έχει ανοίξει σε tabs), η καινούργια
συμπεριφορά δε με βολεύει. Εχει κανείς κάποια ιδέα πώς μπορώ να
επαναφέρω την παλιά;

 Καλησπέρα,
 Έχω 2 lan στο ίδιο κτίριο, το καθένα με τη δική του ADSL, LAN1 και LAN2.
 Θέλω ένα και μόνο PC στο LAN1 να το βλέπει και το LAN2. Και τα δυο LAN
 είναι στο 192.168.1.x. Φαντάζομαι ότι θέλω 2ο NIC στο PC και ethernet
 καλώδιο για να τα συνδέσω. Μετά; Το PC είναι Ubuntu Server 10.04 και έχει
 πάνω SAMBA και 2 web interfaces: για torrents (rtorrent και RTGUI) και για
 downloading (pyLOAD). Τι πρέπει να ρυθμίσω για να φαίνονται τόσο τα
 fileshares όσο και οι 2 σελίδες στο LAN2;


Αν κατάλαβα καλά:

LAN1 = PC1 + PC2 + PC3 + ADSL1
LAN2 = PC1 + (κάποιοι άλλοι υπολογιστές π.χ. PC5) + ADSL2
PC1 = LAN1 (NIC1) + LAN2 (NIC2)

α) Αν έχεις δεύτερη κάρτα δικτύου, λογικά αν συνδέσεις το καλώδιο ethernet
του LAN2 θα πρέπει να σε συνδέσει αυτόματα.
Το network-manager νομίζω αναλαμβάνει να ψάξει τις συσκευές (eth0, eth1,
...) και να βρει σύνδεση στο διαδίκτυο.

β) Αν θέλεις το PC1 να παίρνει διαδίκτυο από το ADSL1 και αν πέσει η
σύνδεση να παίρνει αυτόματα από το ADSL2, νομίζω λέγεται round robin η
διαδικασία.

υπολογιστές PC1,2,3,5, επιτρέποντας sharing, το πιο εύκολο θα ήταν να
αγοράσεις μια συσκευή ethernet switch.

Re: 12.04 εμφάνιση σφαλμάτων μετά την καθαρή εγκατάσταση

Μερικά προβληματάκια που συνεχίζουν στην νέα εγκατάσταση:

1) όταν ανοίξει το pc εμφανίζεται ένα πινακάκι με τον update-notifier που
γράφει: Η ανίχνευση της υπηρεσίας δικτύου απενεργοποιήθηκε. Το τρέχον
δίκτυό σας έχει domain. local το οποίο δεν συνιστάται και είναι
ασύμβατο με την εύρεση υπηρεσιών δικτύου Avahi. Η υπηρεσία
απενεργοποιήθηκε.
Οι ενημερώσεις όμως του λογισμικού γίνονται κανονικά.

Σιγουρέψου πως η εγκάτασταση έγινε εντάξει. Για παράδειγμα, εκτέλεσε την
εντολή:

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop ubuntu-minimal ubuntu-standard

Αυτό θα εγκαταστήσει τα εξαρτώμενα πακέτα που λείπουν (αν λείπουν).

Αφού αναφέρει το avahi, έλεγξε αν είναι εγκατεστημένο το avahi daemon:

sudo apt-get install avahi-daemon avahi-autoipd

2. Σχετικά με το σφάλμα για το γραφικό:
error no operating system και εσωτερική βλάβη του gnome schell

* Ίσως τα σφάλματα που σου εμφανίζει να έχουν να κάνουν με το γεγονός ότι
δεν έχει αρκετό ελεύθερο χώρο (βλ. #4)

* Επέλεξε το ubuntu unity 2D:

3. Όταν δουλεύω ένα πρόγραμμα που χρειάζεται μάλλον αρκετή μνήμη, όπως
π.χ. το Rhythmbox, μου βγάζει αρκετά συχνά εσωτερικό πρόβλημα στο Gnome
και στέλνω apport-gtk.

Δεν έχεις αναφέρει τα χαρακτηριστικά του υπολογιστή. Για παλιό υπολογιστή
(512mb μνήμη και παλιότερο από dual core) συστήνουμε συνήθως το γραφικό
περιβάλλον ubuntu 2d (ή το Lubuntu που είναι αρκετά πιο λιτό).

Για το rhythmbox, απενεργοποίησε το watch my library for new files

4. Επίσης, μου βγάζει ότι δεν υπάρχει αρκετός αποθηκευτικός χώρος για να
κάνει τα αυτόματα αρχεία ασφαλείας. Έψαξα, αλλά δεν μπόρεσα να βρω πως
μπορείς να αυξήσεις τον αποθηκευτικό χώρο.

* Κοίταξε αν υπάρχει αρκετός ελεύθερος χώρος στο δίσκο με την εντολή:

df -h

* Επίσης κοίταξε μέσω του προγράμματος Disk utility (ή palimpsest στο
τερματικό) αν αναφέρει κάποιο πρόβλημα στο SMART data του δίσκου. Τα
προβλήματα είναι σημειωμένα με κόκκινα γράμματα:

 Ευχαριστώ για την απάντηση.. μέχρι αυτό το σημείο με ενδιαφέρει. Ουτε το
 ADSL failover ούτε να βλέπουν άλλα PC του LAN2 το PC1. Οπότε θα παίξει
 αυτόματα από ότι καταλαβαίνω.


Κανένα πρόβλημα! Τουλάχιστον στο ubuntu desktop 12.04 ξέρω από πρώτο χέρι
ότι δουλεύει αυτόματα, με ασύρματο και ενσύρματο δίκτυο.

Για server περίμενε κάποιον άλλο να απαντήσει αν ξέρει. Ίσως χρειαστεί να
εγκαταστήσεις το πακέτο network-manager και avahi-daemon:

sudo apt-get install network-manager avahi-daemon avahi-autoipd

Εν πάση περιπτωσει, είμαι 90% σίγουρος πως η δεύτερη κάρτα δικτύου
χρειάζεται.
