[Bug 202766] [NEW] mumble-server uses weird directories to store its information

2008-03-16 Thread hangy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mumble-server

If started without any arguments, mumble-server uses a probably uncommon
directory to store its data to:
a) `murmurd` uses the current directory.
b) `murmer-wrapper` uses `$HOME/murmur`.

I think that using `$HOME/.config/Murmur` or `$HOME/.config/Mumble-
server` in either case could be better.

[Bug 202776] [NEW] Mumble crashes when connecting to certain SSL certificate authenticated servers

2008-03-16 Thread hangy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mumble

Upon to connecting to a server which has a reasonable Common Name set
using an incorrect hostname, mumble dies.

To reproduce, set up a mumble-server to use a certificate with the
servers host as the Common Name and start it with this. If the key is
password-protected, you should be asked for your passphrase upon
starting it, if it is not stored in an unencrypted way.

If you now connect to that server using the hostname as defined in the
Common Name of the SSL certificate, the connection should work fine.
As soon as you connect to this server using a different address (e. g.
localhost instead of mumble.example.org) than this, the mumble client
crashes with SIGSEGV.

The behaviour I would have expected would be a dialoge popping up,
asking whether to connect even though the certificate's hostname does
not match the actual host.

[Bug 202672] [NEW] installing mumble-server requires dbus

2008-03-15 Thread hangy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mumble-server

The installation of mumble-server dies if the dbus package is not installed.
This could be fixed by
a) Requiring dbus for the installation of mumble-server, or
b) Changing the script not to depend on dbus features.

The proper fix, according to the main developer of Mumble, slicer, would
be b) and having dbus as a recommendation of mumble-server, because the
server does not depend on dbus and provides stripped down functionality
without it.

[Bug 199854] Re: firefox doesnt connect to localhost,127.0.0.1

2008-03-11 Thread hangy
As far as I can tell, what you are experiencing is no bug in Ubuntu or
Firefox.

When you are on Windows, you connect to some local HTTP-server which Windows
started for you. As there is no IIS on Ubuntu and it does not have any
webserver started by default, it is no wonder that connecting to localhost
fails for you. There simply is not anything the browser could connect to.
Depending on your needs, you might want to install apache2, lighttpd, mono-xsp2
or a similar webserver.

I agree that this is a usability issue, but I cannot agree on that this
behaviour is technically correct. You are saying that Konqueror does not
switch KParts on its own, but as far as I can tell, this is exactly what
happens if you are on a normal website before and open a textfile.

/dev/dvb/adapter0/ca0 should only be required to use encryption cards

affect the ability of Kaffeine to tune into a channel.

As there was no response to this item, yet (neither here nor on

2008-03-08 Thread hangy
Could you post some more information on what you are trying to do? Interesting
points could be what you try to connect to on localhost, whether you actually
need to use a proxy to connect to the internet and such.
And yep, Firefox can probably need additional proxy configuration in order to
access anything. Connecting to localhost should not require any proxy setting
at all, though.
After all, which browser did you use to post this report on launchpad? :)

[Bug 194425] Re: [KDE 4] Konquerors cookie system dies

2008-03-07 Thread hangy
The problem is that I do not know how to reproduce it either. I was hoping to
get information on what process to debug to get further information on this
topic.
The crash is not noticable via messagebox or anything directly, you just notice
that you do not have cookies working any more and logging out of KDE and
logging in agains gets them back. To me, it seems like it can occur while you
are working on the computer or even if you just have it idle and the session
locked ...

Sometimes, the system managing cookies for Konqueror seems to die randomly.
I do not notice that problem unless I open a website where I need a cookie -
then cookies just do not work any more and the Konqueror settings dialogue says
that it cannot connect to the cookie system or smth. like that (will take a
screenshot next time).

I know that this bug report is not a lot of help, but it probably become
more helpful if anyone knows what program to debug permanently to get
that problem (hopefully not exposing all cookies to launchpad :P) traced
back. Unfortunately, the crash seems to be totally randomly from my POV,
so I have not procedure on how to reproduce the crash up to now.

[Bug 194423] [NEW] Konversation does not handle backslashes in nicknames correctly

2008-03-07 Thread hangy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: konversation

DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=hardy
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION=Ubuntu hardy (development branch)

Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Installed/Config-f/Unpacked/Failed-cfg/Half-inst/t-aWait/T-pend

+++--===-==
ii konversation 1.0.1-4ubuntu2
user friendly Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client for KDE

If you click on a nickname containing a backslash (let us use test\test as an
example) and e. g. try to whois the user using the UI, the backslash is
silently converted to a forward slash (so the actual nick whoised is
test/test), so the whois either fails or possibly shows information about the
wrong user.
Directly using /whois test\test works, though.

This bug could apply to more UI functions than just whois, I just did
not test any.

[Bug 189707] Re: [KDE4] Anchor links do not work

2008-02-20 Thread hangy
The site itself looks okay, I think. I frequently notice this bug on the
Warsow forums (http://www.warsow.net/forum/) where some topic link
(show new or so?) redirects you to the first unread post of a topic
(if logged in) using an anchor link such as
http://www.warsow.net/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=1101560355#p1101560355.
Could this problem possibly narrowed down to HTTP redirects using an
anchor link?

[Bug 189606] Re: [KDE 4] Removed desktop icons return after reboot

2008-02-17 Thread hangy
Probably related to this:
I got only one folder in ~/Desktop/ (nothing but that one folder in there,
actually) and since some update, an additional instance of the widget (I assume
those icons are widgets) is added on every start. So by now, I have got that
icon on my desktop like 15 times or so.

2) Enable Google as the default search engine (problem also occurs with
Wikipedia as the search engine, for example).
3) Enter a search term such as Münster into the address bar and hit enter.
4) See that the Google page omits the ü umlaut because it seems to be encoded
incorrectly.

Just entering Münster in the address bar when using Google as the
default search engine opens
http://www.google.de/search?q=M%EF%BF%BDnsterie=UTF-8oe=UTF-8 in my
case. If I enter Münster in Google's search form,
http://www.google.de/search?hl=deq=M%C3%BCnsterbtnG=Suchemeta= is
opened. Note how the umlaut is encoded differently.

As KQEMU is GPLed now, there should be no problem to get it into linux-

That doesn't apply to other modules prebuild by ubuntu.

I think it does. For example, the nvidia module exists pre-compiled in
linux-restricted-modules-generic and can be compiled from source from
nvidia-kernel-source/nvidia-legacy-kernel-source/nvidia-new-kernel-

Hi,

current versions distributed with different Ubuntu versions are:
hardy: 0.32.dfsg-1
gutsy: 0.31.dfsg-6

What kind of incompatibility do you experience using Warsow 0.32 on a
Warsow 0.32 server? Actually, all 0.3x versions use the same API and
protocol, so there should not be any severe problems mixing those
versions.

[Bug 173668] Re: Warsow from default Gutsy package won't start

2007-12-03 Thread hangy
Hi Ryan,

it seems like the startup-script used in the Ubuntu and Debian packages
directly checks for direct rendering using `glxinfo`.
To me, the script /usr/games/warsow looks like it quits with exactly that
message if `glxinfo | grep direct rendering: No` returns any content. Could
it be possible that the check used there is not appropriate for ATI and its
proprietary driver?
If you cannot tell by looking at the output of `glxinfo`, do not hesitate to
attach it here, so that someone else could have a look at it.

Thanks,

[Bug 173292] Re: warsow breaks gnome-panel when finished

2007-12-02 Thread hangy
Hi James,

thanks for your bug report. I do not recall having heard of such a
problem before, so it might be helpful if you could perform some tests
to locate where problem originates from (in terms of upstream or
Ubuntu/Debian patches).

- I assume that you installed Warsow using the normal Ubuntu package, which
version is it?
- Is there any particular thing or move required to reproduce the bug? Can you
always reproduce it?
- If it is reproducable easily, can you reproduce it with the latest upstream
version, too?

Thank you,
-hangy

This seems to be related to fglrx and could apply to all OpenGL-games,
can you run any game other than Warsow? You could also try disabling
compositing as described in
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=292642.

[Bug 136712] Konqueror crashes as soon as I visit a specific website

2007-09-02 Thread hangy
Public bug reported:

Symptom: Konqueror crashes while showing a special website.
Distribution: Ubuntu Gutsy
Version: konqueror_4:3.5.7-1ubuntu17_amd64
Steps to reproduce the bug: Just visit http://www.zooomr.com/world/ and wait
some seconds. Apparantely Konqueror loads some files first, which then produce
the crash.
My guess: My backtrace showed some information which looked like the crash is
somehow related to some JavaScript-stuff used on that page. It could probably
related to the huge amount of nodes set on the map.
Note: As I was able to reproduce the crash on a fresh install of Konqueror
(4:3.5.7-1ubuntu17), I have not attached the full backtrace and strace, yet,
because they are really big files with a lot of information which seems
redundant, because it is somehow related to the JavaScript on that website.
Anyhow, if you cannot reproduce it or need my backtrace/strace because of other
reasons, just tell me.

[Bug 131573] Re: update.warsow.net is not good address

2007-08-11 Thread hangy
Hello,

firstly, let me say thank you for this bug report.
Anyways, we call it invalid as the domain is supposed to be update.warsow.net
for several reasons. However, we had some hosting- and DNS-problems in the last
week, so some things got messed up.
So please do not change that URI. The update subdomain should be online soon
again.

Thanks,

[Bug 131582] Re: Can't download wav files

2007-08-11 Thread hangy
Those four sound-files do not exist in Warsow atm. That is why the client tries
to download the files to any server it connects to.
The Can't download: part is there because you launched a loopback server
which, in theory, should have all sound-files required to play the current
map/game/mode/..., so it does not even try to download anything from loopback,
because it would be useless.

[Bug 127717] Architecture incorrect?

2007-07-23 Thread hangy
Public bug reported:

As https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/warsow-data/0.31-1 indicates, it seems
that warsow-data 0.31-1 was built with Architecture set to i386, even though
the original Debian control-file
(http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-games/packages/trunk/warsow-data/debian/control?op=filerev=0sc=0)
which this was synced from defines Architecture: all for this package.
Because of this, the warsow-package (warsow and warsow-server) ought to be
broken for all platforms but i386, because every package depends on warsow-data
to be installed.

[Bug 117119] Re: (Gutsy) Unmet dependency when installing GIMP

2007-05-28 Thread hangy
I think the real problem is that libpoppler1-glib depends on an outdated
version of libpoppler1 and the fixing might be done there.

[Bug 66860] Re: evolution-alarm-notify crashes on startup

2007-05-23 Thread hangy
I don't know whether it is possible to get rid of Evolution, I think it is
required by some ubuntu-desktop meta-package.
Anyhow, I do think this has to do with Xfce. Before Gutsy, I used Xfce4 as my
desktop (on ubuntu, not xubuntu though), now I switched back to GNOME and along
with that, some day, that bug occured.

[Bug 112864] Re: Gutsy: Evolution does not start any more.

2007-05-06 Thread hangy
I just deleted all my old config files (from edgy and feisty) to clean
up all that mess and somehow evolution starts without any problem now.

Okay, never mind my last comment. I thought it worked correctly, but it
just started fine on the first run. Now, once it is configured again, I
got the following:

[Bug 85766] Re: mouse doesn't work in War§o w any more

2007-02-24 Thread hangy
I can confirm detto's statement that this problem is related to gnome in some
way.
Simply using xfce4 instead of gnome makes my mouse work in War§ow.

Because of that, I'm re-assigning this to the ubuntu-gnome team.

** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu)
Sourcepackagename: xorg = meta-gnome2
Assignee: Ubuntu X SWAT = Ubuntu GNOME
