[Bug 202776] [NEW] Mumble crashes when connecting to certain SSL certificate authenticated servers
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mumble Upon to connecting to a server which has a reasonable Common Name set using an incorrect hostname, mumble dies. To reproduce, set up a mumble-server to use a certificate with the servers host as the Common Name and start it with this. If the key is password-protected, you should be asked for your passphrase upon starting it, if it is not stored in an unencrypted way. If you now connect to that server using the hostname as defined in the Common Name of the SSL certificate, the connection should work fine. As soon as you connect to this server using a different address (e. g. localhost instead of mumble.example.org) than this, the mumble client crashes with SIGSEGV. The behaviour I would have expected would be a dialoge popping up, asking whether to connect even though the certificate's hostname does not match the actual host. --- cat /etc/lsb-release --- DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=hardy DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION=Ubuntu hardy (development branch) --- /cat /etc/lsb-release --- --- apt-cache policy mumble --- mumble: Installed: 1.1.3-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 1.1.3-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 1.1.3-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com hardy/universe Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status --- /apt-cache policy mumble --- ** Affects: mumble (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Thorvald Natvig (slicer) Status: New -- Mumble crashes when connecting to certain SSL certificate authenticated servers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/202776 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 202672] [NEW] installing mumble-server requires dbus
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mumble-server The installation of mumble-server dies if the dbus package is not installed. This could be fixed by a) Requiring dbus for the installation of mumble-server, or b) Changing the script not to depend on dbus features. [Bug 199854] Re: firefox doesnt connect to localhost,127.0.0.1
As far as I can tell, what you are experiencing is no bug in Ubuntu or Firefox. When you are on Windows, you connect to some local HTTP-server which Windows started for you. As there is no IIS on Ubuntu and it does not have any webserver started by default, it is no wonder that connecting to localhost fails for you. There simply is not anything the browser could connect to. Could you post some more information on what you are trying to do? Interesting points could be what you try to connect to on localhost, whether you actually need to use a proxy to connect to the internet and such. And yep, Firefox can probably need additional proxy configuration in order to access anything. Connecting to localhost should not require any proxy setting at all, though. Hi Ryan, it seems like the startup-script used in the Ubuntu and Debian packages directly checks for direct rendering using `glxinfo`. Hi James, thanks for your bug report. I do not recall having heard of such a problem before, so it might be helpful if you could perform some tests to locate where problem originates from (in terms of upstream or Ubuntu/Debian patches). - I assume that you installed Warsow using the normal Ubuntu package, which version is it? - Is there any particular thing or move required to reproduce the bug? Note: As I was able to reproduce the crash on a fresh install of Konqueror (4:3.5.7-1ubuntu17), I have not attached the full backtrace and strace, yet, because they are really big files with a lot of information which seems redundant, because it is somehow related to the JavaScript on that website. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox Version: 0.11.1-0ubuntu2 Several actions which have to do with the Music tab cause rhythmbox to crash. All of them can be reproduced: - In rhythmbox, go to Edit - Preferences. a) - Change any setting in one of the other tabs. (- *optional* Close the Preferences dialogue and re-open it again.) - Change to the Music tab. - Rhythmbox crashes. b) - Go to the Music tab and change a setting. - Go to a different tab. - Go back to the Music tab and try to change any setting. - Rhythmbox crashes. ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- music tab makes rhythmbox crash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/124770 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I don't know whether it is possible to get rid of Evolution, I think it is required by some ubuntu-desktop meta-package. Anyhow, I do think this has to do with Xfce.
