[Bug 56503] Re: line in /etc/apt/apt.conf incompatible with reverse proxy mirrors
Hmm, I was just about to log a bug myself with a strange problem only apparently occuring on fresh installs of Dapper or Edgy (not upgraded). I run an 'approx' local .deb cache, (used to be aptproxy but the bug is the same for both). Pointing the sources.list to my local cache (approx) gives forbidden errors as you describe above - however, after scanning around on the approx developer page someone gave me a hint and I wonder if it holds true for the bug you describe as well: 1) open a terminal/change to a VT and su/log in as root. 2) clear the http_proxy environment variable with export http_proxy= 3) try apt-get update and see if it works (it does here). For me this fixes the problem with the local cache - I wonder if it will work for you? If this doesn't work for you then I will open a new bug report as something else is going on and fubarring local cache/repositories. [Bug 46153] Re: Dapper: firefox 1.5.0.3 crashes on certain sites
Good morning, excuse me for being so late in answers ! I don't have a nVidia video card but a Matrox G450 Dual Head . This morning I found the solution !!! The problem is that the site is in flash and while browsing it with swiftfox (sources unzipped in my home)everything was good (no crashes at all)cause the plugins where linked to /usr/lib/firefox/plugins . After installing the .deb hosted for ubuntu by the Swiftfox Project,I've experienced the same crashes in the site as first descripted, then decided to see the difference and I noticed that the plugins where linked to /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins and not all the plugs of /usr/lib/firefox/plugins where present,so after manually copying them EVERYTHING WORKS with firefox 1.5.0.5 ! Now I'm asking why are there two directories (/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox and /usr/lib/firefox) that create a bit of confusion ? [Bug 56583] Re: [Bug 56583] Re: Gnome-session-manager crashes when some dbus apps run
Sorry, I meant to mention that. I use edgy, and one good example that triggers it is compiz, another being cgwd, I know they are both unsupported applications (at least the versions I run), but either way they should not be able to trigger a crash in gnome-session-manager. The best way I know of to trigger the crash is to stop and start one or both of them a few times. The crash is not 100% reliable, but will eventually happen. Because gnome-session-manager is the sm, it won't let any other apps start, so you won't see it crashed until you look in the process list and see that it spawned a bug-buddy, or see that you can't start any more X apps. [Bug 56675] Real Player and Opera are displayed but not installable on amd64
Public bug reported: Running the amd64 version of Ubuntu, when I open gnome-app-install and select Opera or Real Player, it informs me that I need to enable the commercial channel. When I consent to this, it downloads a new package list, then displays the 'checking installed and available applications' progress bar, and, finally, asks me to enable dapper-commercial again. It does this over and over again, forever, until I cancel. I believe this is because there are no amd64 packages of these applications in the repositories. [Bug 56673] Re: Installer crash
I think this error is related somehow to qtparted. [Bug 56685] upgrade from 1.2.0 to 1.2.2 makes Canon iP4200 unusable
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cupsys-client OS : Ubuntu 6.06 LTS Dapper Drake Computer : laptop Asus A7V-R024H I recently tried to install my Canon ip4200 inkjet printer, using the official Canon drivers. As I update regularly my system, cupsys-client was update as well as ubuntu-dektop, hence I had the newest version of cupsys-client (1.2.2) Following the installation described on a French ubuntu wiki ( http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/materiel/imprimante_canon_ip_4200 ), it ends up with the printer not working i.e it pauses automatically, no document whatsoever would be printed. After some research, it results that cupsys-client must be set to the original dapper version (1.2.0) to allow the printer to function correctly. I used Synaptic to do so (force version then block version). The main problem is that now metapacket ubuntu-dektop is removed. ** Affects: cupsys (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- upgrade from 1.2.0 to 1.2.2 makes Canon iP4200 unusable https://launchpad.net/bugs/56685 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 54619] Re: ether_sprintf is in both wlan and new_wlan
ok, final problem solved...the device id list in ath/if_ath_pci.c is crippled, ostensibly to not interfere with old ath_pci module. i've attached the file with the restored device id list new_ath_pci is now working perfectly on my system now. a few caveats if you attempt this yourself with my attachments: source install will detect old madwifi--just select ignore source installs to /lib/modules/'uname -r'/net instead of madwifi-ng (rename after reboot run: depmod -a) linux-restricted-modules compiles new_ath_hal each time on startup so copy ah_osdep.o, hal.o, new_ath_hal.mod.o from your madwifi-ng/ath compile directory to lib/linux-restricted-modules/'uname -r'/new_ath_hal. also delete new_ath_hal from /lib/modules/'uname -r'/net edit /etc/default/linux-restricted-modules-common add: DISABLED_MODULES=ath_hal -- ether_sprintf is in both wlan and new_wlan https://launchpad.net/bugs/54619 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 31517] Re: hal-device-manager does not load
I've finally found what was kicking this off, though I think it's more a symptom than a cause. I had SMB shares auto-mounting. Removing them from fstab fixed the problem, lshal now gives output and update-notifier now works. From the variety of fixes that have worked for people it looks to me like something in the start-scripts for hal is being brittle... -- hal-device-manager does not load https://launchpad.net/bugs/31517 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
