[Bug 60344] High-Contrast Themes missing icons

2006-09-14 Thread Travis Reitter
Public bug reported:

A large number of standard icons are missing in the HighContrast icon
themes. It is worst in the HighContrast-SVG theme, though (several
missing menu icons appear as solid dark orange circles).

See attached screenshot for an example.

Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'gnome-
accessibility-themes'; however, that package was not published in
Baltix.

[Bug 47775] Re: [dapper] xrandr freezes the system (radeon, MergedFB)

2006-09-14 Thread Binh Trinh
I've found a solution for the ATI lockups...
Hopefully, you guys will be able to independently confirm it.

I've got a Dell with ATI M6 running edgy with xserver-xorg-video-ati
6.6.2-0ubuntu1. The stock xorg.conf causes fast frequent random lockups
at 24 bpp and somehow less frequent random lockups at 16bpp.

I don't know how, but inserting these lines (all or some of them) to the stock
xorg.conf solves the freezes (in Section Device):
Option DynamicClocks true
Option AccelMethod EXA
Option DMAForXv off
Option SubPixelOrder None
Option BusType AGP

My hunch tells me that the important line is either the DynamicClocks or
the AccelMethod.

Note: I have no idea of stability in 3D. But in 2D, it is quite stable
(uptime 2+ days now); and much faster than Option NoAccel or Driver
vesa.

Please try and spread the word.

[Bug 60345] Add to Panel... assumes and hard-codes font sizes

2006-09-14 Thread Travis Reitter
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-accessibility-themes

Ubuntu's Add to Panel... dialog hard-codes font sizes for launchers
whose text label requires two lines at size 10. (Interestingly, if the
Application font size is changed to a larger size while the dialog is
open, it will apply it to all launcher text labels).

For the text that does use the system font size correctly, the dialog
assumes it is the same size as the hard-coded font size, and will only
take up one line. See the attached screenshot.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open System Preferences Font Preferences.
2. Change Application font size to 16.
3. Close Dialog.
4. Right-click on panel and open Add to Panel... dialog box.

[Bug 60346] Only top 2cm of every page is printed for some PDF files

2006-09-14 Thread lcampagn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cupsys

Printing problem with an HP DeskJet 882c using foomatic/hpijs drivers,
configured by KDE's printer configuration utility under kubuntu/dapper:

The problem occurs while printing _some_ PDFs. Generally, if I print via
the KDE printing system or by issuing lp somefile.pdf on the command
line, the printer starts the first 2cm of the page, hangs for about
10-15 seconds, then feeds the page out and prints the first 2cm of the
next page, and so on. However: if I print using gpdf, everything works
fine, which leads me to believe that something in the PDF is hanging up
CUPS, and gpdf is doing some processing that removes the problem. I have
not been able to reproduce the problem with other file types. Printing
plain text from KDE works fine, and if I print plain text to a PDF file,
then print the PDF with lp, there is no problem.

I would be happy to provide several examples of PDFs that cause this problem
(the ones I can think of offhand are copyrighted, so I won't post them unless
necessary)

I have tried looking for error messages in the CUPS logs (even after bumping
the loglevel up to debug), with no luck. I have also checked the spooled files
for problems, and they seem to be ok..

I have seen one other instance of this happening in the forums:

What do you mean, I think you said it was also fixed for you.

When something is wrong, like I told you, look at the gtk settings in the
control center to check both qt and gtk should use the same font, then check
the ~/.gtkrc* files it should write, then check the firefox settings, in
Edit-Preferences-Fonts-Advanced then dpi or something.
Or type about:config in the url bar, and search for
browser.display.screen_resolution.

And use xrdb -q | grep Xft.dpi to see the dpi used for kde (or any other xft
apps).
If this setting is not set, the dpi used is the one returned by xdpyinfo|grep
res

You appear to have a problem with your hard disk; the kernel mounted it
read-only upon noticing the problem, and then the installer couldn't
copy files to it any more:

It's also possible that this is a kernel bug, but if the disk is getting
a bit old, I'd look into getting a replacement.

[Bug 59333] Re: [Bug 59333] Re: gaim window size unrestricted

2006-09-14 Thread Schalken
Okay, so basically:

* Despite being the only acceptable IM app for GNOME, Gaim isn't a GNOME
app, and therefore doesn't have to abide by GNOME's rules.

* GNOME's got it all wrong, people should be able to size a window to
any size they want. It's the same with Windows, Mac and KDE, so they
must have it all wrong as well.

* If a user can't find a window, or a feature in that window, because
they sized it too small it's their fault, not the developers.

Fair enough then.

2006-09-14 Thread Sebastian
I also can confirm this happens after updating xubuntu 6.04 to 6.04.1. It can
be reproduced by installing an xubuntu 6.04 without any patches and then
updating with the latest offficial updates to 6.04.1.
I think it has something to do with the updates for the locales and/or language
files.
because setting the xfce language to English or Japanese doesn't shows the
effect, but setting german language as default xfce the bug appaers.
However it seems that in current 6.10 knot 2 the bug ist still present and
doesn't only affect german interface only but also englisch interface. In
6.04.1 the bug ist only present in the german interface of settings manager.
I would suggest to examine the locales and language packages in order to find
the bug. Because I did not found this bug in any other Distribution using the
same xfce Version, so it definetly is an Ubuntuspecific problem with the
language.

Public bug reported:

Havoc is of the same opinion: This is a deliberate decision in some

resizing up there.

[Bug 60362] preseed partman loop

2006-09-14 Thread Carl Karsten
Public bug reported:

This is what was happing on a VM, happens on a real machine too, so the
VM setup isn't important.

here are the key parts of my install server (dhcp, tftp, apache)
setup:

boot files (kernel and initrd) avalible to tftp
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/lib/tftpboot/ubuntu/edgy$ mount -o loop
edgy-alternate-i386.iso alternate/

# /var/lib/tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/default
label ubuntu-testing-alternate-hands-off
kernel
ubuntu/edgy/alternate/install/netboot/ubuntu-installer/i386/linuxappend
initrd=sc/e-a/initrd.gz ramdisk_size=16098 root=/dev/rd/0 rw
debian-installer/locale=en_US kconsole-keymaps-at/keymap=us
kbd-chooser/method=us netcfg/wireless_wep= netcfg/get_hostname= DEBCONF_DEBUG=5
preseed/url=http://shaz/foo.cfg --

screen shot of the error (most of it)
http://dev.personnelware.com/carl/temp/Sep14/a/screen2.png

interesting: if I # this line from early_command.sh
anna-install openssh-client-udeb
the install doesn't 'crash and loop' and I can run it in the VT-2 and it
doesn't seem to cause any problems.

I'll attach foo.cfg and early_command.sh

[Bug 59765] Re: wrong button labels in xfce-setting-show

2006-09-14 Thread Jani Monoses
such a bug was present in 6.06 for Spanish but got solved by 6.06.1
It is a translating issue and affects upstream as well. The idea is that in the
translations when the English 'Button Label |' string appears it should not be
translated.
