[Bug 65027] Re: Notebooks freezes after closing lid or pressing some FN key combination
I have noticed the exact same problem on my M1210, both with Ubuntu Edgy, and Gentoo, but it only affects the am64-architecture, if i run it in 32-bit arch then the problem is gone, so I'm guessing this is has to be fixed in kernel-level acpi drivers. -- Notebooks freezes after closing lid or pressing some FN key combination https://launchpad.net/bugs/65027 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 54776] Re: [Edgy] font hinting does not work with libfreetype6 v. 2.2.1
On debian, the workaround of enabling subpixel rendering in ~/.fonts.conf didn't work, maybe because it doesn't apply the patches from fedora cvs pasted above. (It's maybe better that way, because it didn't make any sense). As Bernd Schubert said in the bug report, light hinting (=slow=medium) is hardcoded in openoffice. Hardcoding normal hinting (=full) works fine. I installed his packages from there: http://www.pci.uni-heidelberg.de/tc/usr/bernd/downloads/openoffice/ I'm nearly sure he just applied his patch from there: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi/normal_hinting.patch?bug=385798;msg=69;att=1 Though, a confirmation is required. Anyway, his packages result in nice fonts for me, both with or without antialiasing. [Bug 68166] Re: Cryptodisk not correctly recognized
** Description changed: Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager Hi, I've got an USB Harddisk with a luks crypto partition on it. When I plug it in, all works fine: the gnome-volume-manager pops up and asks me for the password. But I also have a software RAID in my PC. I don't want to use the crypttab, because I don't need the crypto-partition all the time. So I think it should be possible, to pop up the same password dialog when I try to access this partition the first time (eg via Places-Computer-Partition Name). - At the moment, this just pops up Unable to mount the selected volume. - mount: unknown filesystem type 'crypto_luks' - . + At the moment, this just pops up Unable to mount the selected volume. + - mount: unknown filesystem type 'crypto_luks'. + + And if possible, can you also enable this for CD-ROMs? I'd like to + create a CD Image as LUKS and put an ext2 Filesystem in it. So if the CD + is recognized as 'isLuks' then the password dialog should also appear. Thank you. [Bug 68181] [Edgy Eft] on first startup of firefox, it blinks (Starts/closes at the same time) and on second it opens up normally
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox I'm using Edgy Eft and when I try to start firefox it starts up quickly and then closes, when I start it again, it starts up normally. It started happening to me in Edgy Eft, I don't think it happened to me before, it always loaded up normally in dapper, and actually, kubuntu edgy eft didn't have that either for me. [Bug 67519] Re: [edgy] keyboard broken in X11 on xen dom0
I think I have found the cause: openntpd. The keyboard begins stuttering in the exact moment that ntpd is stepping time because of a great offset. Keyboard works if I disable ntpd and stops working if I start it then. I have tested this on the second computer and will test it now on the first one. I cannot confirm this now, but it seems like time runs much too fast in dom0 (this is on the computer where the CPU clock speed is reported correctly), and this leads to ntpd stepping the time back for as much as 4 seconds at once. -- [edgy] keyboard broken in X11 on xen dom0 https://launchpad.net/bugs/67519 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Just to clarify what appened to other people: we, the Italian Ubuntu translators, have used the following translation for a message in update-manager: Attendere, l'operazione potrebbe richiedere del tempo Unfortunately this message is passed via command line to synaptic, adding the ' (apostrophe) too. (see bug 67112 for details) This should be the cause of the misbehaving. [Bug 66546] Re: Kubuntu Desktop CD doesn't boot for Intel Q965 chipsets
When booting from 6.06.1 LTS and the Edgy Release Candidate by removing the quiet from the boot the messages are the same: ACPI: Bus Type PCI registered ACPI: PCI BIOS Revision 3.00 Entity at 0Xeb048, last bus =32 PCI: Using MMCONFIG ACPI: Subsystem revision 20050902 ACPI: PCI Root Bridge [PCI_0] 0x ACPI: Assume Root bridge [\_SB_.PCI] After that it hangs w/ no response. By booting the 6.06.1 LTS cd and passing linux pci = nommconf I am able to boot in the Desktop CD. However this command does not work in booting the release candidate. [Bug 68172] Re: [disks-admin] Free space size line is incorrect.
The number that's reported in the screenshot has nothing to do with the actual freespace on the partition. You probably guessed that, but you mentioned that the number reported (175921... GiB) is 780,000 times your drive. What I'm getting at is that the number, 17592186044416 is actually the highest (Gigabyte) number representable in decimal form by a 64 bit unsigned integer. (Multiply it by 1024 and 1024 again to see a number that's the same as 2^64). I'm currently at university in the computer center (with not much time currently) so I can't recreate the scenario on any PCs here, nor do I have my laptop (loaded with Ubuntu) on it, but I'm guessing it may be to do with the program (disks) having problems reading the size of the free space partition. Is the hard drive in question anything special?
