[Bug 86656] Feisty Text Based Installation Bugs
Public bug reported: I am installing Xubuntu Herd 4. feisty-alternate-i386.iso. Using text based installer and there are a few issues. 1) Keyboard detection is broken. When attempting to detect my keyboard it asks me to replicate non-printable chars, after which assumes I have a .jp keyboard. 2) Timezone selection gives me very few choices, none are relative. 3) Wireless Card (Intel) is not detected (it is detected via graphical install of 6.10) 4) Installer lets me pick any resolution I want, however 'vesa' doesn't seem to support the one I pick and display comes scrambled. Upon hitting Ctrl+Shift+1 I am taken to a terminal with large font, i.e. high resolution text on low resolution display. To fix I should either _blindly_ edit xorg.conf and change the resolution to 1024x768 and restart gdm or anything else to prevent X starting, all should be blind. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Feisty Text Based Installation Bugs https://launchpad.net/bugs/86656 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yes it was edgy. And I have applied every update till now and there are no problems with the sound (in fact the only problem I have is that sometimes logging out freezes my screen but that's not about sound it's probably xgl :) ) I cannot reproduce the issue I described to you in edgy (thankfully) but I can give you any outputs you want using the dapper livecd. You might want to know that this did not happen only in ubuntu. Gentoo ivecd had no sound, as well and I suspect the same problem there. [Bug 86642] usplash on ubuntu 6.10 amd64 doesn't display 1024x768 theme.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: usplash /etc/usplash.conf contains xres=1024 yres=768. And /boot/grub/menu.lst contains vga=791 for the 1024x768 framebuffer. But usplash only displays the lowest resolution of the themes. In my case, it is 800x600. I downloaded the source code of the theme and forced it to set the first resolution as 1024x768. And I copied it to /usr/lib/usplash and set it as the current theme. It could display 1024x768. But not every theme has source codes, and I think it is not a normal way to change resolution. A nomal way must be to change /etc/usplash.conf and /boot/grub/menu.lst not the theme's source codes. [Bug 84194] Re: [time-admin] adding ntp server ip from clock applet fails
I did some additional testing. I unchecked the "Keep clock synchronized with Internet servers:" checkbox and then removed ntp, ntp-server, and ntp-simple with Synaptic. I then went into the "Adjust Date & Time" windows and reselected the "Keep clock synchronized with Internet servers:". I was prompted to install the ntp components, which I approved. After installation, I clicked on the "Select Servers" button and then scrolled through the list of unchecked servers to the bottom. The attached screenshot reveals what I saw. I added us.pool.ntp.org to the list, which showed up already checked at the bottom. I attempted to uncheck it, and received a crash. After restarting the "Adjust Date & Time" window and opening the "Time servers" window, only the two servers (ntp.ubuntu.com and 127.127.1.0) were checked. Adding us.pool.ntp.org, closing the "Time servers" window and the "Adjust Date & Time" window, then reopening them reveals that the added server is not saved. ** Attachment added: "Select Servers Window Screenshot" http://librarian.launchpad.net/6488798/Screenshot-Time%20servers.png -- [time-admin] adding ntp server ip from clock applet fails https://launchpad.net/bugs/84194 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 84194] Re: [time-admin] adding ntp server ip from clock applet fails
I'm having the same issue. I'm also running Edgy. In fact, I receive a crash as well. I've attached the crash log. Here's the situation... I right-click on the time/date in the upper right corner and select "Adjust Date & Time". The Time and Date Settings window appears and the spinning dial runs for about 15 seconds while I hover my cursor over the window. I selected "Keep clock synchronized with Internet servers:" and it installed some things. Then I went into the "Select Servers" list and saw a list of servers. At the bottom of the list were 3 checked items. The first item was a blank line. The second item was ntp.ubuntu.com. The third item was 127.127.0.1 or something like that. I unchecked them all, which caused them to disappear from the list. I added in us.pool.ntp.org and closed the windows. I then went back into the "Adjust Date & Time" and then "Select Servers" and us.pool.ntp.org was no longer there. No servers were selected. I added it back in and then tried to uncheck it. That's when the crash occurred. I can duplicate these problems every time. Unchecking the "Keep clock synchronized with Internet servers:" checkbox and then clicking the "Synchronize Now" button doesn't seem to do anything. ** Attachment added: "Bug Report for Time Admin Crash" http://librarian.launchpad.net/6488777/time-admin-bugreport.txt -- [time-admin] adding ntp server ip from clock applet fails https://launchpad.net/bugs/84194 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
