[Bug 158958] Re: After upgrade to Firefox 2.0.0.8. Form TEXT Boxes crash/close (no errors)
I know this is a very old post, but I'm having the same problem, it's also the problem as described here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=3938155 http://www.thescripts.com/forum/thread618077.html It basically happens whenever I type a space in a textbox when running my Ubuntu. Also, if I type something in that doesn't include a space, it will crash when I submit the form relating to that text box. I've tried reinstalling and it's still the same problem. It's firefox 2.0.0.11 and it's Ubuntu-Fiesty. I also haven't installed any add ons or extensions to firefox. There's also nothing in the crash folder (it's just empty). Basically firefox just closes when it encounters this problem... It's ubuntu 7.10 and it says Gutsy, but in firefox it says Fiesty. As you can tell I'm a n00b :) -- After upgrade to Firefox 2.0.0.8. [Bug 150061] Re: Resolution settings losses its settings every time I reboot
laramarvin, I did that, but I have the same problem I did with my other new xorg.conf -- the font sizes are all enormous. This may be a result of various tweaks I made when I was trying to figure out what changed when I upgraded to gutsy (turns out it was that my monitor was running at sub-native resolution), but for some reason my old xorg.conf starts in a lower resolution and then if I use displayconfig-gtk to resize it to 1920x1200 it shrinks the fonts back down to a reasonable size. Does anyone know what it's doing and where I would go to do that manually? Of course the bug is that when using displayconfig-gtk to resize the screen those changes are lost when I restart X. [Bug 172823] Re: PAN NAP not working on Ubuntu Gutsy
I'm trying to solve a similar issue. I did want to use the NAP profile but so far I'm not too clear on if/how that is possible using the Gnome Bluetooth Manager and/or the Ubuntu configuration. My issue is, getting a mobile telephone to do the DHCP request on the PAN so the telephone can use the PC and its Internet link as the Internet gateway rather than using the (relatively expensive) 3G connection when updating/installing/testing applications on the telephone. The documentation at http://wiki.bluez.org/wiki/Network and in particular the comments in the example /etc/bluetooth/network.conf show the defaults: # Network interface name for PANU for connections. default:bnep%d # Network Interface name for Group Network server. default:pan0 # Network Interface name for Network Access Point server. default:pan1 When enabling Network service in Gnome Bluetooth Preferences applet, pan0 (adhoc-network) becomes available. This doesn't appear to be fixed. I just installed 7.10 today. I had a working desktop for about 10 minutes and then installed the available updates. Now, after rebooting, when I log in I get a blank desktop for about 5 seconds and then the screen goes completely black except for the mouse (cursor still moves) and I never get a desktop. There was a lot of disk activity so I installed iostat and the box is writing to nautilus- debug-log.txt at about 8M/sec. While I never get an interactive desktop, the machine is usable from the command line on an alternate terminal. The box is just a P4 3GHz with an Nvidia 6800GT and 2GB RAM. = BEGIN MILESTONES = 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.8199 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.8280 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.8389 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.8529 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.8561 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.8600 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.8640 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.8680 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.8721 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.8887 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.8971 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.9054 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.9137 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.9221 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.9304 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.9387 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.9471 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.9554 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.9637 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.9720 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.9804 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.9887 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 0x8177510 2007/12/20 18:50:17.9970 (USER): debug log dumped due to signal 11 -- [Gutsy] high processor activity after logging out and then logging in again https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/150471 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Hi, I have an acer aspire 9802wkmi with 2.1 sound system (small subwoofer built into my laptop) with a 82801G (IHC7) ALC883 chip I have been trying basically all things available now during the last week to get my sound to work correctly. I have tried both ubuntu 7.04 and 7.10, and an older newer kernel (2.6.20-18 2.6.24-?) I think it was but no matter what I have only sound in my built-in subwoofer. It's working fine if I boot up in windows. I have tried alsa 1.0.14 to 1.0.15 final, and the backports the ones from Realtek I have made sure that all channels are unmuted, and tried basically all options like acer,acer-aspire stacker3, stacker5, toshiba, rel, test, medion, etc. All of them gave me sound in the subwoofer, but not medion a couple of others which didnt produce any sound at all. When I move the 2 sliders, PCM, (left + right ch), and Front (left+right ch), they all adjust the loudness of my subwoofer, independant of each other. Any ideas if this is a kernel or alsa bug, or something totally different ? Please let me know if you need additional info. [Bug 152820] Re: Upgrade to linux-image-2.6.22-14 kernel renders my PC unbootable
It appears that the *intent* with Gutsy was to switch the drives over to /dev/sd* completely. That did not happen for SiS 5513 IDE controllers. According to my personal experience, these changes allowed me to use the stock Ubuntu kernels: Feisty: No changes from previous installs. Feisty kernels were working fine with SiS 5513. Gutsy: Some report fresh install with Gutsy works fine. An upgrade is another matter. Change the /etc/fstab file for the / (root) partition only to /dev/sd* instead of /dev/hd*. Hardy: Change the /etc/fstab file for all partitions to use /dev/sd* instead of /dev/hd*. Also, if you specify the boot directory by /dev (instead of UUID) in /boot/grub/menu.lst, change to /dev/sd* there also. These kind of changes need to be noted in the distribution notes for upgrading. [Bug 152187] Re: Serial Wacom tablet fails to return from ACPI suspend to RAM
I think I've gotten to a point where a kernel developer could really help.
