Re: [Bug 234629] Re: supybot !web title leaks LAN HTTP servers to the channel

2008-08-06 Thread Ralph Corderoy

Hi bascule, thanks for pointing out the regex but it's hard or
impossible to concoct one that stops LAN access. Blocking numeric IP
addresses isn't sufficient. I argee this plugin is dangerous by default
and yet nowhere in the documentation, or during selection of this
plugin, does it warn the user to consider whether their network set-up
would be vulnerable. I think that's a bug that needs addressing.

Chatting on the supybot channel, I was told it should be obvious to
anyone that this can happen and that's what network DMZs exist for.
Well, it wasn't obvious to me since there's a lot of plugins and
considering the security implementations of each of them would take
hours.

[Bug 209342] Re: IBM T40 breaks under Hardy with 2.6.24 kernel

2008-08-06 Thread Adam Buchbinder
I'm experiencing the same problem; I suppose it's too late for 8.04.1.

I see the instructions for using git bisect to track down the bug, but
since it's present in (so far as I know) all versions of Hardy but none
of Intrepid, I don't see how I could possibly do a git bisect across the
two trees (ubuntu-hardy.git and ubuntu-intrepid.git). If you have more
detailed instructions, I'd be willing to attempt to track down the
offending commit. I haven't worked with git before, but I'm willing to
take some time to work on this.

I'm building 2.6.25-1.2 from the intrepid sources now to make sure that
works for me. (The copy that was in the PPA is no longer there.) I'll
post a follow-up if that doesn't fix sound, wireless and that long wait
on startup. The offending copy currently running is 2.6.24-19.36.

[Bug 254596] Re: Update the NVIDIA driver to 173.14.12

2008-08-06 Thread Graham Inggs
I've enabled hardy-proposed on two machines previously running Nvidia driver
173.14.09 installed using Envy NG and updated to Nvidia driver 173.14.12.
On both, after restarting, running NVIDIA X Server Settings and clicking on
OpenGL/GLX information gives the following error: Fail to query the GLX server
vendor.

Problem resolved by updating the symlink in /usr/lib/xorg/modules/ as follows:
# cd /usr/lib/xorg/modules
# rm libglx.so
# ln -s /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so.173.14.12 libglx.so

[Bug 253898] Re: gnome-keyring-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV

2008-08-06 Thread Matej Kenda
The software packages were always installed through updates.

The only exception was one-time installation of evolution and keyring
from hardy-proposed, however I think that this was later than this bug
was reported.

Where exactly do you see local modifications and of which files (or
packages)?

I might try to resolve that.

autogen is a hard problem. It seems that it would work with enabling

[Bug 255290] [NEW] mail(1) cannot send to address containing an equals sign

2008-08-06 Thread Ralph Corderoy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mailutils

Ubuntu 8.04, mailutils 1:1.1+dfsg1-3.1.

Attempting to unsubscribe from a mailing list, I did

mail announce-unsubscribe-
[EMAIL PROTECTED] /dev/null

(`$private' is me replacing a simple plain domain name I wish to keep
private.)

mail(1) returned without error. Later, I receive various bounces. mail
gave the Postfix SMTP server on localhost three separate recipient
addresses.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Postfix has added the [EMAIL PROTECTED]' to those addresses it was given
that didn't have domain names. So mail(1) handed over

announce-unsubscribe-subversion
=
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

IOW, it seems to consider the equals sign as a word boundary and split
the desired address there, resulting in three addresses, one just `='.
I suspect this is because during argument processing, mail(1) seems to
turn the contents of files like ~/.mailrc into command line arguments
that precede those given by the user, and the processing of these
handles things like `foo=bar' to set a variable. This probably splits
it into `foo', `=', `bar', and it is later treated as three destination
email addresses.

Note, other destinations like

mail foo,bar /dev/null

result in email being sent to `foo' and `bar'. I don't know if this is
deliberate, but it doesn't appear to be documented in
http://www.gnu.org/software/mailutils/manual/mailutils.html.gz#mail

Regardless, mail(1) cannot send to the valid unsubscribe address
mandated by a mailing list and is erroneously splitting the address into
parts.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

Had same problem: when trying to use Adobe Connect Pro flash application
with firefox (2 or 3), flash got stuck, and after closing browser
window, npviewer.bin started to go wild, using all CPU time (had to kill

But today, I installed lib32nss-mdns package, and after that flash
started to work!

[Bug 255297] [NEW] please include debian patch to enable old certificates UI

2008-08-06 Thread chpe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xulrunner-1.9

Please include the patch from debian's xulrunner 1.9 package that adds
the nsIBadCertListener interface back to xulrunner. That way, browsers
other than firefox that want to support a sane certificates UI (e.g.
epiphany which will pick this support up automatically via a configure
check for its 2.24 version) can do so. Note that this does not affect
browsers like firefox that do want the new insane UI; it will still
work.

[Bug 255296] [NEW] dual/multi screen/monitor/display on linux/ubuntu

2008-08-06 Thread Espen Grønvold
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

When running multiple monitors with individual x sessions, I cannot open
Firefox on more than one monitor without using separate profiles.
Firefox complains that it is already running.

There is a workaround involving multiple profiles, but it is a clunky
way of doing it.

Assumed problem: Firefox is prevented from opening the same profile more
than once, possibly because this can cause sync problems, or broken
files.

OS: Ubuntu 8.04.1
Packages: firefox3 (3.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.3)

Behaviour:
Firefox starts ok on each screen when started only on one screen, but trying to
start an instance on a different screen, results in a message saying that
firefox is already running.

Expected behaviour:
I would expect Firefox to be able to start separately on all screens,
regardless of whether it was running on another screen already.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
Date: Wed Aug 6 20:51:31 2008

[Bug 48799] Re: Sync of translations not working as expected

2008-08-06 Thread Данило Шеган
Ubuntu side of things depends on the Ubuntu team (i.e. they can tell you
when 'published' uploads happen, i.e. when new packages are built).

As far as upstream project translations go (eg. shotserver), you need to
do your uploads as 'published' (usually, a maintainer does that when
uploading a new template with all the translations in the same tarball).

Only possibility would be fglrx. The driver (2:8.512-0ubuntu1) is
installed but - according to the Hardware Drivers tool - unused. lsmod
shows the radeon driver as loaded. Trying to do a glxinfo results in a
segfault of the tool.

Possibly related is a number of attempted beeps on Gnome startup.

[Bug 255304] [NEW] Unable to connect using Sierra MC8775 GSM device

[Bug 217846] Re: Slow suspend/resume in Hardy

2008-08-06 Thread Yann
Changed status as confirmed as this problem is obvious for anyone not
relying on first listed eth0 interface: All machines connected thru wifi
(usually listed as eth1) are at least concerned.

I added a fix from a duplicate bug to cope with this, but it's far from
perfect (will set up an unused interface if a cable is plugged during a
session?): MII management to check link up should be checked by eth
drivers and MII interrupt used to react to link status change and
associated eth setup/re-configuration.

Also assigned to kernel team that should be in charge of ethernet
modules? Or maybe someone here will read assigned bug and know where
this annoying one should go for a real fix.

Regards.

too, could you please provide some test cases (or Ubuntu/Debian bugs) to
better analyse this request?

[Bug 22070] Re: Logitech Quickcam Messenger is not usable

2008-08-06 Thread Ben Caldwell
This webcam is still not supported out of the box in Hardy.

I've just compiled the qc-usb-messenger-1.8 source from
http://home.mag.cx/messenger/ without any problems. My quickcam
messenger is now working with camorama.

The module compiled from this source is called qcmessenger.ko so the
name conflict mentioned above is no longer a problem.

I'm a novice when it comes to linux drivers, is it worth packaging this
for Hardy or should the V4L guys just be approached about including the
driver upstream?

ACK from motu-sru, this is a little fix but should be safe enough to go

[Bug 220269] Re: bluetooth mouse stopped working after bluez-utils and bluetooth update [hardy]

2008-08-06 Thread Andreas Ntaflos
Still a problem and a very annoying one, to say the least. There doesn't
even seem to be a hackish, dirty workaround. What does it take to get a
bluetooth mouse working in Hardy?

[Bug 199732] Re: applet fails to load with nullpointerexception

2008-08-06 Thread HappySpaceInvader
I get the same error in Ubuntu 8.04.1 (64-bit) when trying to view
either http://wypte.acislive.com/pda/pda_maps.asp?SysId=30 or
http://tsy.acislive.com/pda/pda_maps.asp?SysId=30 which are just two of
the online interactive bus route maps in the United Kingdom. It's
supposed to display a navigable map, but all I get is a grey box where
the map should be.
