[Bug 289014] [NEW] ath5k driver missing after latest intrepid update
Public bug reported: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/276508 (so maybe dupe) but this summary is more specific to the problem (276508 is older bug). Also this should attach files. After upgrading intrepid this evening I lost wireless, and it turns out the ath5k directory/driver is missing ( 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Fri Oct 24 06:42:44 UTC 2008 i686). The driver was there and had been working up until tonight. Perhaps this is a packaging problem rather than a kernel problem. Please reassign if appropriate. I tried a reinstall from Synaptic but that didn't help. [Bug 246269] Re: Switched from vesafb to uvesafb, but uvesafb can't work without v86d
According to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/246269/comments/71 a fix was released. 1. I am however not sure, if it is fixed for 8.10 final only? RC of Kubuntu Live CD (kubuntu-8.10-rc-desktop-i386.iso) shows still shows the bug. The boot stalls for half a minute, but then continues. On completion of boot I observe no further effects. 2. You can't use any workaround if you use a live cd, and I am not sure whether you want to accept this behavior to remain on every live session you do. -- Switched from vesafb to uvesafb, but uvesafb can't work without v86d https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246269 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I hit exactly the same thing this evening after upgrading ( 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Fri Oct 24 06:42:44 UTC 2008 i686 in my case). The driver was there and had been working up until tonight. [Bug 288991] Re: X server display error during Intrepid 8.10 RC installation
I completed another successful install with the Wacom tablet unplugged and without touching anything to verify that the screen blanking was not involved. I then shut it down after logging into the new system and verifying there were no errors and shut it down. I plugged the Wacom tablet back in and started another install from the CD menu. It copied files and then at some point after that (reconfiguring hardware, perhaps?), the X error window appeared. Some webpages half load instantly, then stall. Others never load. The wifi light on the laptop blinks steadily on and off. My kernel on install of intrepid was 2.6.27-7.11, so I manually downloaded the 2.6.27-7.14 build and installed, rebooted. Still roughly the same symptoms. Small transfers happen ok. [Bug 108577] Re: pulseaudio esd wrapper is not working with gnome
Small update. - Removed all config files from home directories. - Re-installed esdcompat from the Hardy repository. - Added: 'load-module module-esound-protocol-unix socket=/tmp/.esd-1000/socket' to default.pa This stopped the errors from the gnome applet and the 'Failed to open module "module-protocol-esound-unix"' errors. Why this did not work before I am not sure. Residual conflicting config files perhaps. (There is an inconsistency there by the way. The module name you need to invoke is different to the filename. This causes some confusion) Sound was still silent from EsounD sources at this point but errors had ceased and the pulseaudio daemon was now running. (pulseaudio -v) However, on running 'pactl list' I discovered that EsounD is mapped to the following. *** Sample #1 *** Name: esound.gnome-2/logout Volume: 0: 100% 1: 100% Sample Specification: s16le 2ch 44100Hz Channel Map: front-left,front-right<--- Duration: 1.8s Size: 310.1 KiB Lazy: no Filename: n/a I opened 'alsamixer' and set PCM Front to 100, it was currently on 0. [Bug 288995] [NEW] [intrepid] graphire bluetooth works until pressure reaches "64"
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: wacom-tools Ubuntu 8.10 RC (updated) AMD64 wacom-tools 1:0.8.1.4-0ubuntu3 Using the same modified hidp kernel module as I used successfully in hardy, I have my graphire bluetooth sending the correct data (as indicated by xidump), and working correctly until the pen pressure exceeds "+00063". The maximum value is correctly reported by xidump as +00511. When the pressure value exceeds 63, input from the tablet locks up until the pen is moved out of range of the tablet. When moved back in range it works as before. Other input sources are not affected. I don't really know where to begin tracking down the cause of this :/. When I run wacdump outside of X, the pressure value is reported up until the maximum value of 511, so the tablet and the modified hidp module seem to be working. I tried editing my xorg.conf as indicated in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WacomTroubleshooting and removing the 10-wacom.fdi file from /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/20thirdparty. The result was similar, except when pressure exceeded 63 the cursor became enormously sensitive to movement, and completely lost pressure sensitivity (until the pen was moved out of range, as before). ** Affects: wacom-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [intrepid] graphire bluetooth works until pressure reaches "64" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/288995 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
