[Bug 129801] Re: kde-window-decorator crashes in gutsy

2009-01-29 Thread Andres Mujica
Kevin, this was previously fixed sometime ago. But it seems that you
were affected by this bug again.

Would it be possible for you to confirm if this is still the case with
latest Intrepid or Jaunty?

Thanks in advance

[Bug 292054] Re: Some drivers take too long to associate (Was: network-manager 0.7 always asks for WPA passphrase)

2009-01-29 Thread Chris Bainbridge
Alex,

At your suggestion I tried linux-image-2.6.28-6-generic. I no longer see
the very long delay that leads to wpa_supplicant timing out and
blacklisting the AP leading to 60s association.

Jaunty ath5k is still slow though - comparing ath5k to zd1211rw over
repeated runs I get a statistically significant mean time (from starting
NetworkManager to binding an IP address) of 21 seconds versus 9 seconds
respectively.

There also seems to be some new problem with Jaunty, I'm seeing the following
error repeated every so often: NetworkManager: debug [1233236271.814432]
periodic_update(): Roamed from BSSID 00:1D:68:0A:xx:yy (nameofwap) to (none)
((none))
Why would it try to roam to a non-existent AP? During the couple of seconds
this happens it seems like packets are dropped.

[Bug 322742] [NEW] package update-manager 1:0.93.34 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: SystemError in cache.commit(): installArchives() failed

2009-01-29 Thread David Nitzpon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

When updating from Kubuntu Hardy (with kde3) to Intrepid (after just before
sucessfully updating from Gutsy to Hardy) the update manager crashes quite at
the beginning of configuring the updates.
I'm willing to try to reproduce it, if that is possible without a clean
install, but at the moment I'm still trying to get the system working again
(multiple sudo apt-get upgrades halting in between and followed by sudo dpkg
--configure -as have left me with a working but frequently crashing kde4).

[Bug 298663] Re: nautilus process uses 100% CPU for 30 sec - 2 minutes on computer startup.

2009-01-29 Thread stek79
I think I have the same problem,
constantly 40% to 50% nautilus usage, doing nothing.

It seem related to a network share I have mounted. I found its name into
a strace output.

When I realized this, I've tried to access it from nautilus. After this
access, CPU utilization went suddenly down.

Hope this helps!

Yep, sorry I forgot about this bug, the file was created sometime
 later.
The file /var/lib/dlocate/dlocatedb was not created (not empty as you
 supposed).

I'll remove the file and try to reinstall to see if I can replicate,
and maybe fix the installer scripts if necessary.

Actually the postinst runs update-dlocatedb which only renames the
file to the official name when it's finished generating it. I think
it's safe to say this is by design, although one could argue about how
to make it fail in a more transparent way if dlocate is run before the
file exists.

bug occurs during regular use without resizing the window but I have not
found a way to reproduce that.

The video is a little jumpy in part. It was make with recordmydesktop

[Bug 315484] Re: gdm crashes on execution of Custom Command

Okay, this is what I did:

Install Ubuntu intrepid from the alternate CD, apt-get update apt-get

update apt-get dist-upgrade again, installed the dbg-symbols for gdm.
Reboot, then I edited the gdm.conf-custom to include:

CustomCommand0=/usr/bin/yes
Reboot again, at the point gdm asks for credentials, I followed the

[Bug 321932] Re: ghostscript stop rendering with font errors

2009-01-29 Thread Graziano

Ok. I have completely reverted to ubuntu ghostscript. Copied svn Fontap.gs to
/usr/share/ghostscript/8.64/lib/Fontmap and it does the trick.

And You are right, WITHOUT msttcorefonts ghostscript works WITHOUT any Fontmap
file.
So the problems really seems in the interaction with msttcorefonts package.

IF i install msttcorefonts WITHOUT Fontmap.gs, ghostscript chokes. WITH
Fontmap.gs from ghostscript svn Resource/Init installed under
/usr/share/ghostscript/8.64/lib/Fontmap AND msttcorefonts I have no
problem. WITHOUT msttcorefonts ghostscript package from jaunty has no
problem (but I have formatting completely broken on importing most of
doc documents into OpenOffice).

Left to You.

[Bug 271353] Re: Intrepid: Crash Handler's Baloon doesn't go away

2009-01-29 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 267201] Re: [hardy] OpenOffice writer causes compiz to crash

2009-01-29 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be
dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 238179] Re: Scrolling in CompactView doesn't work

2009-01-29 Thread Sebastien Bacher
thank you for your work there, could you email the nautilus upstream
list to get your patch reviewed? unsubscribing the sponsor team for now
since we don't distro patch such changes usually but rather try to get
those to GNOME
