[Bug 324078] [NEW] Please package 8.2.0

2009-02-01 Thread esteve
Public bug reported:

We've built packages for the whole Twisted suite (except for Web2, which
is being deprecated in favor of Web). They can be found at our Launchpad
PPA (https://launchpad.net/~fluidinfo/+archive/ppa).

Although we're using them actively, I can't guarantee they are bug free.
In any case, I'm attaching both patches for Debian and Ubuntu Hardy.

[Bug 323716] Re: A text/html decoder plugin is required

2009-02-01 Thread Andreas Olsson
By looking at the HTML source I found the direct URL
http://events.onlinebroadcasting.com/doncoxe/013009/playlist.php?doncoxe,013009,4,2,lo,2
which might work in Rhytmbox. No idea if it is static or if it changes
day by day.

For general support question good place to ask is
http://ubuntuforums.org/ or https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/.

Since this technically isn't a bug in Rhytmbox I will change status to
Invalid.

[Bug 324086] [NEW] gvfs ignoring secondary group membership in ssh/sftp

2009-02-01 Thread Jim Louvau
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gvfs

Release: Ubuntu 8.10.

Package: gvfs 1.0.2-0ubuntu1

Expected: User connected to remote system via ssh/sftp (nautilus/gvfs)
could write/create/delete files in a directory because he's a member of
the directorie's owning group.

What happened: User has no write permissions inside the directory.

Basically:

Directory permissions based on secondary group membership are completely
ignored in Nautilus with an ssh/sftp connection. As long as the user or
his primary group owns the directory, no problem. If he's not the owner
and the group is only a secondary one he's in, he gets denied write
permission.

Example:

I have a directory on machine remotepc /shared with permissions like
drwxrwsr-x and ownership root:users.

I have a user, sally on machine localpc who's a member of local groups
sally and users, as well as being a member of users on remotepc.

Sally connects to remotepc with nautilus as herself using
sftp://remotepc.

Sally is denied permission to write into directory /shared (can't
create, delete or save edited files) even though group users has write
permission and she's a member of that group.

If Sally does a scp somefile remotepc:/shared/ it works just fine
(since scp knows she's a member of users and therefore can write).

If Sally copise, deletes, etc. files via command-line sftp, same resul
.. it works (as it should).

If Sally ssh's into remotepc and creates/deletes or edits files in the
/shared directory everything works just fine (again, as it should).

The ONLY time Sally has an issue is when she's connected via
nautilus/gvfs/fuse where it shows her as having no ability to do
anything but traverse the directory and read files (other's x-r).

Any directory where she's the owner, or her primary group is the owner,
no problem. Any directory where she's not the owner and is a secondary
member of the owning group, she does not get the group permissions.

Needless to say this makes a lot of things not work over sftp/ssh in a
major way, and is NOT the behavior for ssh or sftp.

2009-02-01 Thread Rain
I hope this is the right place for me to reply.

It's possible to save all your favorite youtube videos in a playlist.pls file.
And whenever you restart your PC it's easy
to open that file and listen to them again.

But if you ever Unplug your router, hub, or however you link to the internet
you will not be able to refer back to your
saved playlist.

Oh and I am on a wireless connection (DELL Laptop).
Every now and then I have to reconnect using the user friendly Network Manager.

[Bug 297747] Re: Doesn't follow other plugin package conventions

2009-02-01 Thread cyco
Hi Scott,

just a statement from my (debian maintainer) side. The name is just a result of
upstream package name (which I just did take over). Installing the check
command templates not into /usr/share/nagios-plugins/ but to
/usr/share/nagios-snmp-plugins/ is just normal, since they are related to an
other source package.
The only problem is the use of /usr/share/nagios-plugins/dpkg/functions shipped
by nagios-plugins-basic
, I will fix it by depend on nagios-plugins-basic or maybe copy over the file
into the package itself with the next version of the debian package.

With kind regards, Jan.

[Bug 324088] [NEW] Please package 8.2.0

2009-02-01 Thread esteve
Public bug reported:

We've built packages for the whole Twisted suite (except for Web2, which
is being deprecated in favor of Web). They can be found at our Launchpad
PPA (https://launchpad.net/~fluidinfo/+archive/ppa).

Although we're using them actively, I can't guarantee they are bug free.
In any case, I'm attaching both patches for Debian and Ubuntu Hardy.

[Bug 324093] [NEW] impossible to manually eject CD/DVD in Kubuntu Jaunty Alpha 3

2009-02-01 Thread samuel782
Public bug reported:

The physical eject button of my laptop's CD/DVD drive has no effect on a
disk that has been mounted, even if it's not used anymore by any
application (For example a video DVD that has been viewed in Dragon
Player, even after closing the Dragon Player).

The virtual eject button in the Device Notifier applet of the plasma panel
still works fine here, providing an easy workaround for the problem.
Another working method is to manually umount the disk using the console.

Still, I believe this is a bug that should certainly be looked into before
releasing a non-alpha Jaunty...
Having to deal with software troubles is something a software user might be
forgiving about; However actually being limited in one's physical actions by a
software system is an unexpected and thus really really frustrating thing which
might be quite difficult for many people to be at all understanding about.

I'm running a Samsung X20 Laptop with a built-in DV-W28E DVD-RW drive (see
hdparm output).
I can probably give more useful information / debug output / etc. if someone
can tell me where to look.

The problem did not occur in Kubuntu Hardy.

The problem does not occur when the drive is empty or there's a disk
inside which is not mounted.

[Bug 323649] Re: Totem Movie Player in Ubuntu 8.10, opening saved Youtube playlists: Could Not Open Location; you might not have permission to play the file.

2009-02-01 Thread Rain
Ok let me clear that up.

REPRODUCE PROBLEM
I am mainly on a wireless connection to my router (http://www.2wire.com) ,
which connects all my devices to the internet. But sometimes I lose my
connection. Maybe my service provider had problems or maybe I'm having
software problems. Whenever I lose connection to the internet I have to
restart my wireless router or sometimes I can just use Ubuntu's Network Manager
to reconnect.

MAIN PROBLEM
Whenever I reset my internet connection my Youtube playlist becomes useless in
the Ubuntu 8.10 Totem Movie Player.

[Bug 217270] Re: seahorse does not recognize seahorse-agent/ssh-agent as a caching agent

2009-02-01 Thread Scott Kitterman
Kmail needs gnupg-agent for GPG and S/MIME signing. It's been part of
the default install for Kubuntu since Gutsy. It seems to me that
seahorse ought to either co-exist with the standard Gnupg tools or
provide an equivalent functionality so gnupg-agent is not required (I'm
certainly willing to add it as an alternate depends if it would do that
- I understand it currently doesn't).

[Bug 303894] Re: Sony Walkman NWZ-A816 not recognized so not mounted.

2009-02-01 Thread Joe Giampaoli
No, I never formated or repartitioned it. I will tell you one thing
though, I have tried this MP3 player with fresh install of Hardy and
never mounts, but that only happens I believe in 32 bit Hardy, I once
did a fresh install of Hardy 64 bit and tested the MP3 player and it did
automount.

Ok the output of sudo fdisk -l /dev/sdb is the following:

j...@ghubuntu:~$ sudo fdisk -l /dev/sdb
Note: sector size is 2048 (not 512)

Disk /dev/sdb: 3841 MB, 3841982464 bytes
1 heads, 62 sectors/track, 30257 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 62 * 2048 = 126976 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1 169273667 4294967294 ff BBT
Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary.
-

And yes i can mount it as /dev/sdb1 but only as root and the way I
described above:

sudo mount -t vfat -o iocharset=utf8,umask=,user /dev/sdb1 /media
/(mount-point)

If I just do sudo mount /dev/sdb1 it gives me

[Bug 323755] Re: non-trivial building mysql source package, build test keeps failing, (open)ssl related

2009-02-01 Thread Andreas Olsson
Non sure if this is purely an Ubuntu bug.

I downloaded the native MySQL 5.0.75 source directly and tried to
compile it separately, without any of our patches and special options.
A build based on this simple configuration ./configure --with yassl
results in the exactly same build tests failing.

Don't think it is an issue with yassl, since --with-openssl renders the
same result. That is also the case when I try to build using others
version of gcc.

Tomorrow I'll do some tests on none-Ubuntu systems. If they give me the
same failing build tests then, I'll report this as a bug upstream.

By the way, from now on all my tests/builds takes place on a Jaunty
system, unless otherwise specified.

Re: [Bug 272247] Re: System freezes during boot, unless I hold a key down

2009-02-01 Thread SRElysian
In regards to the GIT question, I have not tried it.. but I came across this
which might be something for you to look at... it's a zen kernel for
2.6.28.

https://wiki.kubuntu.org/ZenKernel

On Sun, Feb 1, 2009 at 2:55 PM, Morten Minke
mor...@earthrevealed.comwrote:

 ** Description changed:

Once the Ubuntu splash screen loads with the progress bar that moves back
and forth, it freezes. Holding down any key unfreezes the system, and it
 continues
loading normally, until I release the key, at which point it freezes
again. Holding a key down again unfreezes the system again.

Pressing Alt+F1 to show the output also freezes, so I know it isn't just
the splash screen freezing, but the entire system.

Once X loads, it works perfectly fine though, and I don't have to keep
  holding a key down.

Update : This bug happens with 2.6.26 and 2.6.27 kernels with a computer
that has Nvidia MCP67 motherboard. A known workaround that sometimes
works is to add nolapic to GRUB boot kernel options. acpi=noirq is also

and forth, it freezes. Holding down any key unfreezes the system, and it
 continues
loading normally, until I release the key, at which point it freezes again.

A known workaround that sometimes works
is to add nolapic to GRUB boot kernel options. acpi=noirq is also known to
 work.

[Bug 324102] [NEW] unclear error message

2009-02-01 Thread Chris Jones
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-vm-builder

After a failed run, re-running ubuntu-vmbuilder just gives me the error
message:

2009-02-01 22:25:30,834 INFO Cleaning up
ubuntu-kvm already exists

This actually just seems to mean that there's a directory with that name
in $PWD, even though -t was specified in the failed ubuntu-vm-builder
call, so that's where everything should be, and they should have been
cleaned up after the failed run anyway.

** Affects: ubuntu-vm-builder (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
