I don't think I have the exact document(s) that caused the crash anymore since the dvi is just an intermediate file but I can attach a later version of it where the only difference is that some of the text contents have changed. [Bug 38442] Re: Ubiquity dialogues too large for 800x600 display
I believe this is only partially fixed. I'm able to install, but during the actual installation of Karmic (when the window title is "Installing system" and files are actually copied/configured), the bottom of the window is not visible. For instance, is there a Cancel button there if I need to quit for some reason? It's perhaps minor because at the point one is installing Ubuntu, they've probably not going to change their mind just then, but from a UI point of view, it's disconcerting not to be able to see/interact with the entire window. So, to be clear, I believe this bug is still open as of Tue, 06 Oct 2009, with the Karmic beta. [Bug 414795] Re: PC beep no longer works in Karmic alpha4
pcspkr is now blacklisted. That is the expected behavior. However un-blacklisting it, and loading the module, should result in the sound being played again. However if i understand bug #77010 Pulse Audio is supposed to now take over and play a user defined, and much more reasonable, beep. In the above referenced bug there are a few ways mentioned to turn off/on this beep including gconf-editor. [Bug 443241] Re: freetalk FTBFS
Hi, Please do not add a patch system to a package that comes from Debian: this makes the debdiff bigger, and increase the difference between Debian and Ubuntu. Another approach to fix this compilation error would be to copy the 'from' variable to another one in line 153 to a char *, use it and free it before leaving the function. When you have the new debdiff, please put your bug report back to complete. Thanks for your work! [Bug 444261] [NEW] "waiting for service to start" text in pending operations is misleading
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: software-center For whatever technical reason, Software Center has to wait for previous operations to complete before it begins downloading for the next operation. If an installation is running and another is queued up, the second task shows the text "waiting for service to start." While this may be true, it's too technical, and may lead users to believe that something is wrong with the system. If it's just waiting for a previous operation to complete, then it should say so with more informative text. [Bug 444262] [NEW] network manager won't connect to hidden wireless SSID using WEP
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager First off, what I'm using: Kubuntu Karmic 9.10 Beta, last updated 10:30pm MDT Wireless card is an Atheros ar928x (yes, I know) This is a laptop, HP G70 I'm having an issue with not being able to connect to my router which is a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 running the Tomato firmware. I don't think this matters. I have SSID broadcasting turned off, WEP 64 bit with a hex key turned on. I am using knetworkmanager to try to connect. The process I use is as follows (using the taskbar icon). Click network manager Click "Connect to Other Network..." Click "Connect to Other With..." Click "Connect" button -- This brings up the Add Network Connection dialog -- Change connection name to my wireless network name Check "Connect Automatically" Click "Wireless" tab Type my SSID into the SSID box Click the "Wireless Security" tab Change "Security" drop down to "WEP" Change "Key Type" drop down to "Hex key" Type in my hex key Click "OK" With NetworkManager running in no-daemon mode I get the following Warning: NetworkManager: user_connection_get_settings_cb(): user_connection_get_settings_cb: Invalid connection: 'NMSettingWireless' / 'ssid' invalid: 1 Nothing else happens. I have tried opening various dialogs and clicking the connection and it never does any pulse. dmesg shows nothing and there are no other messages on the console from no-daemon NetworkManager. If I can provide other info, do let me know.
