[Bug 385445] Re: [i915GM/GMS/910GML and GM965/GL960] Monitor does not turn back on and computer hangs when laptop lid is closed
I have this problem on a Dell Latitude X300 using ubuntu 9.10 and kubuntu 9.10. In 9.04 it doesn't happen. My video card is 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device [8086:3582] (rev 02). I have tested the built'in kernel and 2.6.31.rc9 with the same result. When I close the lid and open again the screen remains blank appearing only the cursor without movement. I can't change the tty or force the reboot via REISUB combination. I only can press the power button to force it to shutdown. I have modified the grub.cfg to include nomodeset. This prevents the computer to hang, but the screen becomes corrupted when the lid is opened. You can fix it by changing from tty7 to other tty, and then returning to tty7. Hope this helps and thanks to all! -- [i915GM/GMS/910GML and GM965/GL960] Monitor does not turn back on and computer hangs when laptop lid is closed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/385445 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.5 Some sites are not displayed as expected. For example, check www.moin.gov.il (which is the Israeli ministry of interior affairs). For some reason the content of the webpage is shown in a small rectangle instead the full page. The bug is probably not related to Ubuntu, since I observe the same behavior of FF installed on Windows machines. [Bug 478274] Re: cannot mount usb volumes: Not authorized, after upgrade to Karmic
Reopening this issue. I am afraid there is a real problem here... As I understand by looking at the code (mainly ck-manager.c:load_seats_from_dir()), the fact that there is an invalid regular file in /etc/ConsoleKit/seats.d/ has only the following impacts: - the first correct seat created will have id Seat2 instead of Seat1 - there is one more iteration in the while loop in ck-manager.c:load_seats_from_dir() But I don't see anything else. So how is it possible that we get: Matched x11-display-device /dev/tty7 to /org/freedesktop/ConsoleKit/Session1 when there is no .svn directory... and we don't get anything when there is a .svn dir ? Is it because there is an internal error that prevents Seat2 from being visible for the matching routines whereas Seat1 is visible ? Is there something hard-wired for Seat1 (in config files or code) ? Is this a race condition because of the additional iteration in the while loop (highly improbable). Besides, perhaps a suggestion (?): in ck_seat.c:ck_seat_new_from_file(), add calls g_key_file_free() where relevant ? ** Changed in: consolekit (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = In Progress -- cannot mount usb volumes: Not authorized, after upgrade to Karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/478274 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 483070] [NEW] Unable to install Ubuntu 9.10; livecd freezes completely
Public bug reported: Steps: 1. Boot the system from livecd. 2. Open some files and programs (I used gparted to move make a place for the system). 3. Watch the system freezes completely after some time (~half an hour). Keyboard and mouse don't work, even the Ctrl-Alt-Del and Alt-SysRq magic. The issue is related to the cd/dvd drive (LG GSA-4167B), happens always when/immediately after the disc was spinning. The drive is perfectly healthy, works ok under two versions of Windows and worked ok under previous versions of Ubuntu (up to 8.04 IIRC). However, the freezes happens always under updated 9.10 too. I though it was a bug introduced by some update and attached myself to #74372, but I've checked if I can reproduce from a clean install (or *livecd*, in this case). I can, so for the case of clarity (#74372 has some noise) I report it here. Also important: it's probably not hal related as the freeze happens when the hal isn't even started. [Bug 483076] [NEW] [9.10] IEC958+analog (dual) audio output not available anymore (worked with 9.04)
Public bug reported: Description:Ubuntu 9.10 Release:9.10 Steps to reproduce: * Try to play audio with analog 5.1 + IEC958 digital output in parallel * To do so, open mixer/sound settings What I expected to happen: * Analog + digital output should be available as a profile. (In previous versions, there were no profiles and it was enough to un-mute digital and analog output in the mixer interface) What happend instead: * There are only profiles for analog output and digital output (with various inputs, but input doesn't matter in my case) Workaround: * Every time I want to watch a movie on my HDMI TV, I have to switch from analog to digital sound output now. It's not so critical, but with Ubuntu 9.04 I was able to get sound from the TV _and_ my 5.1 system. * (Un-)muting the appropriate channel in alsamixer doesn't work anymore 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02) ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [9.10] IEC958+analog (dual) audio output not available anymore (worked with 9.04) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/483076 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 400830] Re: shared folder still shared even if recreated after deletion
Another thought: Could this problem be solved with extended attributes? Nautilus-share could add an extended attribute to each shared folder, which would contain a unique identifier, which would map into its list of known shared folders? This, it seems, would be a more reliable solution than tracking files by path and would prevent the kind of confusion demonstrated in this bug and others like it.
