[Bug 457220] Re: OpenOffice crashes when saving .doc file with notes in it, Karmic.
I have the problem too, on a fresh install of 9.10. It's critical for me as a teacher because I use the notes function in grading essays. Deleting the .openoffice.org folder didn't help, although I think just after deleting it I was able to save a .doc file with notes once or twice. But the problem returned. [Bug 451523] Re: Intel x3100 enormous regression in ubuntu 9.10 beta
It was app-specific in my case. For example, kvm/qemu was configured to use something other than pulseaudio, and was fighting with pulseaudio, causing the video output to be jerky as it used 100% cpu trying to play sound. Once I reconfigured the errant apps to talk to pulseaudio instead of whatever they were trying to talk to, things were smooth. In all fairness, the problem wasn't even pulseaudio itself, but rather misconfigured apps. But I never had problems before pulseaudio, and there was recently a Slashdot article bashing pulseaudio, so that's where the blame went... I never did get the Phoronix test running; it bombed out with some kind of gtk error. But I convinced myself that it wasn't the Intel driver at fault by comparing extremetuxracer framerates. It was significantly faster in 9.10 -- double the framerate at 800x600 (60fps vs 30fps), and about 20% faster at 1680x1050 (30fps vs 25fps). If you want a test that doesn't depend on sound or require installing extra software, look at your screensaver demos. They don't interface with the soundcard at all -- just 2D and 3D graphics. If the screensavers look like they are running at the same speed under both your systems, then it's probably not the video driver at fault. That should have been my tip-off to look elsewhere, but I ignored this data point and still blamed the video driver. One other thing that may or may not apply in your case: While trying to solve this problem, I read about some people who had trouble if they had an Intel and Radeon card in the same system (Intel on motherboard and Radeon card). If they installed the radeon proprietary driver, then I think the Intel card would get slow or broken. It didn't apply to me though, so I didn't read it too closely. -- Intel x3100 enormous regression in ubuntu 9.10 beta https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/451523 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 472982] Re: depmod doesn't respect /etc/depmod.d/ubuntu.conf config
If you want extra to be special, you need to add it to the search line in /etc/depmod.d/ubuntu.conf I've tried this and it didn't help, that's why I've created the bug - because depmod doesn't respect search line in /etc/depmod.d/ubuntu.conf. I've also tried to use DKMS to install my custom driver. DKMS puts drivers into updates/dkm, which has highest priority in /etc/depmod.d/ubuntu.conf, but it also doesn't help - depmod still generates modules.alias with my custom driver at the end of the list regardless of alias of my driver. -- depmod doesn't respect /etc/depmod.d/ubuntu.conf config https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/472982 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Fabian, The fr_CA locale is pan-Canadian, not Québc-specific. The document being cited is from the OQLF, a Québec provincial agency. [Bug 489614] [NEW] [Hardy] Painfully slow gtk drawing
Public bug reported: Preamble : I had no access to this computer lately so couldn't test many things, but this bug happened a few weeks ago, maybe after an update, and is still valid. The computer is a Compaq R4000 laptop series. Bug description : Switching between windows, tabs or menus is painfully slow for most applications (I am talking of 10s latencies) : Firefox and gnome-terminal especially, a bit faster for Opera, normal for nautilus, synaptic or wicd. * Happens both under Gnome and XFCE. * Seems linked to GTK applications. * No problems with decorators, and though the computer is not using Compiz I tested it and it didn't change anything. * Doesn't seem to be a hardware issue since live cds of different other distributions seem to work fine. * Doesn't seem related to CPU issues either, it is not used that much. Strangely, top shows two instances of Xorg — but killing the inactive one doesn't help. * The memory seems also fine, the swap is barely used. * Tried fglrx and vesa, same issue. Moreover, glxgears seems fine. I have not much to add, apart from the few attached files. I think won't able to contribute to this report anymore, as I am going to install immediately Karmic — as it is, the system is too much a pain to be usable. [Bug 489615] [NEW] avahi-daemon respawning too fast, stopped
Public bug reported: Debugging this bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upstart/+bug/489327 I found something strange. When boot in grub to recovery mode and while the menu is displayed (resume boot, root shell, etc), I pressed Ctrl+Alt+Del. And then I could see error messages, I attached the photo of the screen. I'm not sure this is a bug in this package, but you should say for sure, there the bug is. Or, possibly, there is no bug?
