[Bug 405294] Re: a2dp skips terribly in Karmic
I'm sorry, Baptiste, you're completely wrong. The adapter doesn't show this problem under Windows, and it doesn't show the problem under previous versions of bluez. The adapter works. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in exim4. For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications have bug reporting functionality built in to them. Re: [Bug 80921] Re: No subpixel rendering
Hello Anders, you just caught me being sloppy. I needed a method to override the packaged versions and by trial and error it appeared that I have to increment ubuntuX. I had been using this method for a while when I figured I can save work for myself if skip incremental updates during development period if I use ubuntuX+n. Perhaps I should use a bit more care considering that these packages are also consumed publicly. On another note, you posted a patch in 2007 to the upstream bug report. Can’t we do anything to close this upstream? I know upstream wants a patch and sees no difference between LCD filter and no filtering anyhow. But really. And then there’s the issue that Carl Worth removed the LCD filtering API from Cairo because some test suite images came out differently. In PDF rendering we cannot follow the desktop settings because only slight hinting and the across-pixel filter work properly on PDFs. We have to have control over the font rendering settings. -- No subpixel rendering https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/80921 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 545762] [NEW] Installation of fglrx-amdcccle 2:8.721-0ubuntu5 crashes video
Public bug reported: Release: Lucid Lynx Package: fglrx-amdcccle 2:8.721-0ubuntu5 Expected behavior: Installation expected to drive video properly Actual behavior: After installation, system allowed me to select user and enter password. Immediately thereafter, however, the screen went blank. It was not simply a "blank screen" Xserver issue. The monitors actually lost signal and stopped. Remediation: Reboot, drop to root with networking, remove fglrx and fglrx-amdcccle, reboot. Unfortunately, I had not previously changed the logging flag in bootlogd to "yes" to capture the boot messages, so I can't be of help there. I will see what other logging I can dig up to help with the process of debugging. Killing an X session is one thing. Killing output from the card to the monitors is probably not good on the hardware. [Bug 545749] [NEW] 2.6.32-17 introduces new startup/bootup issues on Acer Aspire 4530
Public bug reported: With the new kernel, plymouth regresses to a text mode splash (if it loads at all, it seemed to have loaded upon the first boot after install, but hasn't appeared since). Also, Xorg doesn't autoconfigure properly -- GDM starts up (I hear the startup sound), but no video appears -- it loads up with a reddish color of random pixels. virtual terminals have issues as well -- most of the terminal is off of the screen -- the viewable area is at the lower right, and nothing loads up in the top half of the screen. Filing this report was a major pain because of this. If I create an xorg.conf, I can get into X, but I didn't do that for this report, since Xorg autoconfiguration should work. If it would be useful to attach files with a working Xorg, let me know. ProblemType: Bug AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21. [Bug 486154] Re: System beep broken in Karmic despite heroic efforts to fix it
Just to confirm my previous assertion, I installed the Lucid beta on a virtual machine. I applied my patch [1], restarted metacity, and unloaded and reloaded Pulse Audio's module-x11-bell [2]. System bells rang the same bell.ogg sound file, but through Pulse Audio. Additionally, I could now set the volume with `xset b`. Thus, using this patch would result in the *exact same* behavior as currently exists, except that Pulse Audio is making the noise instead of metacity. Stopping the behavior, to reenable to PC speaker, is now just a matter of unloading the module. Additionally, there are fringe benefits: 1) No delay while metacity loads the sample the first time it's needed. 2) No rate limiting of playback by metacity. 3) Consistent handling of system bell events between metacity and compiz. Honestly, what more is desired? In several bugs related to this, I have yet to hear a good explanation for why metacity should be handling system bell events. Here's a chance to switch this capability to a more sensible sub-system and solve several bugs or potential bugs all at once. Why are we not jumping all over this? (Sorry to sound shrill, but I'm rather frustrated at this point.) [1] It didn't quite apply cleanly, but it was easy enough to clean up by hand. I wasn't planning on posting a new patch for Lucid, but if it's desired, let me know. [2] I don't know why un- and re-loading the module-x11-bell was necessary, but I suspect that it's related to the fact that the old metacity had been trapping the system bell events. I suspect, but haven't confirmed, that this won't be necessary once the new metacity is installed and X is restarted. -- System beep broken in Karmic despite heroic efforts to fix it https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/486154 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 545733] [NEW] In Programming mode, the top row of binary numbers (33 to 63) are not working as designed.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gcalctool Expected behaviour is that by clicking on 0 values in the binary field, they should toggle to become the number 1 and it's decimal value will appear on the display. Toggling additional 0's to 1's will add their value in a cumulative effect. Odd behaviour that is occuring is primarily happening with the top row (bin numbers 33 to 63) toggling those 0's wipe out the lower values and odd results on the display. I have a 64bit computer and Ubuntu Lucid 64. But the 64 bit aspect of the binary numbers are not working properly. [Bug 545728] [NEW] [STAGING] TOSHIBA T110, wlan card still doesn't drive properly on Lucid
Public bug reported: ppl trying to install Ubuntu on Toshiba T100 series would face a "Kernel panic" (mine is T110) this is temporarily solved using ndiswrapper as described here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1316079 I report this again because I installed the new Lucid and the problem still exists here's some details: 1. I need to disable wlan card in bios before installing ubuntu or the progress bar would froze forever 2. after installing I need to blacklist rtl8187se (wlan card module of the machine), so I could login to the system with wlan enabled and using ndiswrapper to make it work 3. * AFTER ndiswrapper make the wlan work. I could do rmmod ndiswrapper modprobe rtl8187se to make it work with native driver, this is weird.. hope you smart guys can fix this in the final version. I can't rely on ndiswrapper forever =) PS people with a toshiba T135 seems have got a new version of driver by which their wlan can work fine (rtl8192se) but T110 doesn't.. Hi, Sorry for the late answer (my motherboard died more than one moth ago, and I'm still trying to get a fully working env). As far as I can tell, Charles uploaded a new version 2.1.12-2 that should fix the FTBFS, so you should change the title and the description of the bug report to reflect that (requestsync can help you with the content of the sync request). The bad news is that as we are past Feature Freeze, you should follow the FFe process described at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess. [Bug 545726] [NEW] Startup applications launch before panel and become lost
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel A have a added a few items to System -> Preferences -> Startup Applications. One of these is loading very quickly and on a fresh boot starts up before my panels, so there is no notification area. Its icon appears in the top left corner of the screen and will shortly be covered by the panel. Logging out and logging in again things work fine, as the panel loads much faster with everything in cache. I've only seen this happen with one of my startup applications (jungledisk-monitor), so this might be an fault there such as not blocking until a notification area is available. [Bug 522666] Re: runtimepath lets system settings override user settings
The order of directories in 'runtimepath' is intentional and follows the way that Vim upstream orders the directories. The only difference is that the /var/lib/vim/addons{,/after} directories are inserted. Using the after/ directories isn't a workaround. The entire reason they exist is so the system-wide settings can be overridden by users. I'm not sure what you mean by "many vim filetype plugins do not come with after/ hooks". Just create a new file in ~/.vim/after/ftplugin/ that matches the ftplugin's name in the non-after directory and it will get sourced. -- runtimepath lets system settings override user settings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/522666 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 545718] [NEW] Package python2.5-dev does not exist
the same is for MySQLdb (mysql-python) module. There are many modules that you have to compile. So, python headers are _VERY_ needed.
