[Bug 375155] Re: Suspend & Hibernate don't work
I have a similar problem. When I just try to suspend my MSI megabook S262, it enters suspend and the led flashes. After I press the power button again, the DVD-drive reads a few times and nothing else happens. It is still frozen. No display, no HD activity, no CPU-fan activity... I tried https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume and typed (and the other three too): # echo core > /sys/power/pm_test # echo reboot > /sys/power/disk # echo disk > /sys/power/state # dmesg > /tmp/dmesg-core-reboot.txt and everything seems to work, though the computer does not completely enter suspend mode then. The screen goes blank and comes back up again and the HD seems to stop and start again etc. Some time ago I also played around with s2ram and the best I got out of that was a cpu fan that started spinning after suspend. I tried https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend too, but the hash never matched (am I doing anything wrong?) I also ran the test script from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/SuspendResumeTesting and didn't get any further than the person above me here. if there are any other tests that I can run and results I could attach, please tell me. I've gotten quite handy with ubuntu lately. ** Attachment added: "dmesg after debug" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pm-utils/+bug/375155/+attachment/1675488/+files/dmesg.txt -- Suspend & Hibernate don't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/375155 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 460625] Re: Atheros ar242x (ath5k) will occasionally be turned off by ACPI
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: I've had this problem ever since Intrepid. It hasn't bothered me as much, but since now ath5k is totally open source, maybe there can be a fix. OS: Ubuntu Jaunty/Karmic Drivers: Madwifi (madwifi) for Jaunty and ath5k for Karmic. All other system information can be found inside of the tar file. The system I've used is still the same. It seems that on occasion my wireless card will refuse to turn on during specific boots. There's no error message as to why it wouldn't turn on, but it just...doesn't. [Bug 555408] Re: Shotwell makes USB mouse flaky
Sebastien, This is all very interesting! We do not use MTP (or libmtp), but we do use gphoto2, which does a device query in order to locate connected cameras. We also query the udev system looking for cameras on our own in order to properly associate a USB ID with gphoto2's names. (Long story.) Although I can't say the bugs you've linked to completely shed light on what's going on here, it does point to some possible problems. It's interesting that the Kensington mouse comes up again in another bug and is specifically mentioned in the patch. As mentioned earlier, we acquired the mouse but couldn't repro it here. I need more time to look at all this information more thoroughly. [Bug 653714] Re: X display shows garbage w/ nouveau & Nvidia GeForce4 Ti 4200 Go AGP rev a1 (NV28)
As a workaround, I was able to get the nvidia-96 drivers working, but it isn't quite seamless. First, I removed all nvidia packages that were currently installed (with --purge), then selected and installed the nvidia-96 drivers by searching "nvidia" within the "Ubuntu Software Center" and selecting "nvidia-96". At this point the display would not start with the xorg.conf generated by the "nvidia-xconfig" utility. If you tried to start X with this xorg.conf file, you'd get a complaint that it couldn't find the nvidia driver. Without an xorg.conf file, X would start, but set to a lower resolution with no ability to switch to 1920x1200. At some point, I wondered if the nouveau driver was conflicting. I removed the xserver-xorg-video-nouveau package (again with --purge) and then (with no xorg.conf file) the nvidia 96 driver started working correctly with full resolution. So the working config is: jo...@johnn-craylap:~$ dpkg --get-selections | grep -i nvidia nvidia-96 install nvidia-glx-96 install nvidia-settings install jo...@johnn-craylap:~$ dpkg --get-selections | grep -i nouve libdrm-nouveau1 install jo...@johnn-craylap:~$ ls -al /etc/X11/xorg.conf ls: cannot access /etc/X11/xorg.conf: No such file or directory jo...@johnn-craylap:~$ -- X display shows garbage w/ nouveau & Nvidia GeForce4 Ti 4200 Go AGP rev a1 (NV28) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/653714 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 655275] Re: allow 32-bit module build on 64-bit host
Ok, I checked with mjg59. He says that the only difference between 386/586/686 flavors of RHEL is the kernel config, which leads to different compiler optimizations. The ARCH string has nothing to do with that. So passing either "i386" or "x86" to force a 32-bit build is perfectly safe, even for RHEL. Alternatively, you could just read the top-level kernel Makefile and search for "uname -m". You'll see what we do with SUBARCH and ARCH; a little further down, you can see the x86-specific section for SRCARCH. I think the patch might break if we try to build a 64-bit module on a 32-bit host, I haven't tested that combo; but it should be extremely rare anyway. -- allow 32-bit module build on 64-bit host https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/655275 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 655745] Re: Network Manager uses wrong 3G modem
I have found the source of the problem. When I established the broadband profile, the Dongle had not yet been fully recognized by the kernel (it is a bit slow - need to start USB-storage and MMC devices, then activate the tty ports). As a consequence, it was created using device 0 (internal GSM). Thus, regardless of what network manager saw as currently active devices, it always tried to use device 0. One problem is that the interface for defining profiles does not show to which device the profile is associated, nor does it allow changing it. So rather than a true-blooded bug it's a conjunction of slow detection of devices and some user interface lacking relevant information and controls. -- Network Manager uses wrong 3G modem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/655745 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
