[Bug 720053] [NEW] Edimax Ralink wireless adapter can't see networks

2011-02-16 Thread Simon Andrews
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image

I have an Edimax EW-7711UAN wireless adapter which should be supported
by the rt2870sta driver. In maverick the adapter is recognised and an
interface is created, however no traffic passes over the interface and
no access points can be seen.

The system is running a basic maverick i386 install with no updates
(since no network connection), except for linux-image-2.6.35-25-generic
since this contained the rt2870 module and I was hoping there might
already be a fix for this.

[Bug 719835] Re: polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 crashed with SIGSEGV in g_datalist_id_set_data_full()

2011-02-16 Thread dino99
very strange as its on natty updated several times a day.
Looking at package release into synaptic, the latest packages are used and
dont matched the ones found into dependencies.txt

So there is something wrong either with the ubuntu-bug process or with a
non updated database. As this crash happen everyday after gnome-panel is
loaded and same bug have already be reported and closed for the same
reason (710041), you might consider this issue to make ubuntu better

[Bug 720057] [NEW] Mysql-cluster install uses my.cnf

2011-02-16 Thread Thomas Schweikle
Public bug reported:

If installing mysql-cluster-server I'd expect mysql-setup make some decision to
have one my.*.cnf file per node, just to have it easy to copy the config-files
on every node within the cluster. One simple way could be using the hostname to
distingush between the my.cnf-Files for every node. The change could be made
within /etc/init.d/mysql:

25c25
 CONF=/etc/mysql/my.cnf
---
 CONF=/etc/mysql/my.$(hostname -s).cnf

[Bug 635199] Re: [armel] the ./H5detect test segfaults when built for armv7

2011-02-16 Thread Dave Martin
I still think it would be reasonable to hard-code the results for float
alignment requirements on ARM.

On all ARM floating-point architecture versions, float and double must
be size-aligned. I don't think there has ever been any exception to
this rule, nor is any exception likely in the forseeable future IIUC.
If the alignment requirements are relaxed someday, the hard-coded
results may be suboptimal, but the package should still work.

[Bug 440411] Re: spam of change events from drm/card0

2011-02-16 Thread Fuujuhi
Could someone tell me if she/he has a fix/workaround for this bug on *Lucid* ?
Can I kill the thing that generates the event? Can I tell some driver to
completely ignore it?
I don't care if that's a manual workaround, as long as it remains on Lucid /

I tried to install Kernel 2.6.35, but this was even more awful (keyboard
jammed so much that there a flood of events). Also I don't want to use
another kernel, because then it's trading for another set of issues.

Also, does somebody knows what the bug is really about? Ok, that's an
event from the graphic card (i915), occurs after suspend. But what is
this event about?

I have the datetime indicator set to use 24-hour format for the dates.
the weather indicator uses 12-hour (or maybe it's the locale-default).

$ gsettings range com.canonical.indicator.datetime time-format

$ gsettings get com.canonical.indicator.datetime time-format

[Bug 720071] [NEW] munin-node amavis spam stats

2011-02-16 Thread Tim Kuijsten
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: munin

The amavis plugin of munin-node displays 0 for probably spam and
surely spam statistics. This is because it does the wrong `grep` on
the mail log file.

The included patch has 2 altered grep statements
sure spam is a grep for 'Blocked SPAM'
and probably spam is a grep for messages with a Hits score between 4 and 10

The default Ubuntu SpamAssassin configuration will tag messages with a
score above 2.0 and mark messages as Blocked SPAM if it has a score
above 6.31.

[Bug 373534] Re: Rhythmbox 0.12.0 time unknown, seekbar disabled

2011-02-16 Thread W.McL
Problem still exists in rhythmbox 0.13.1

Enabling or risabling the crossfade plugin doesn't change anything. I
have gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly installed.

Problem occurs on both ogg and mp3 files (no other types tested yet)

When I start rhythmbox with the --debug option and try to move the
position slider to a certain position, I get output like this:

(14:49:07) [0x144ef60] [slider_moved_callback] rb-header.c:676: slider
is not dragging

After moving the slider, the time is updated to the current slider
position, but when I resume playing, neither the slider's position nor
the time are updating.

external monitor worked, I was able to configure them separately, but on
Natty alpha 2 the display remains black after GRUB.

[Bug 719861] Re: After installation icon theme default to gnome-icon-theme and cannot be changed

2011-02-16 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Ok, I checked on that and find a clue in the daily livefs build:
libpixbufloader-svg.so: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such
file or directory

the issue is that the libgdk-pixbuf is ran before the libgl ldconfig
call so it doesn't find it

doing a sudo apt-get install libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 --reinstall should
workaround the issue

** Package changed: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) = librsvg (Ubuntu)

** Package changed: librsvg (Ubuntu) = gdk-pixbuf (Ubuntu)

[Bug 720085] [NEW] amarok will not exit from sound preferences

2011-02-16 Thread Doug McMahon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amarok

Once amarok is opened, (either directly or from sound preferences), while it
can be controlled fine from sound preferences, when you exit amarok it remains
'active' in sound preferences.
At this point it can no longer be opened again from preferences, only a
logout/in will clear it

Noting that amarok does close properly, no running process, it just never
clears it's active state in sound preferences

[Bug 704597] Re: Please move pre-install script to jockey-common

2011-02-16 Thread Brandon Snider
That would mean that you wouldn't have a chance, ever, to try the
upstream installer.

There is a command-line option that can be used to override the script
and proceed with the nvidia-installer. But as Alberto says above, if
someone has gotten to that point, they obviously know exactly what they
are doing.

The only other option I can think of is to tie nvidia-common harder to
the system using a Depends on the big metapackages (ubuntu-desktop et
al.)

To clarify comment #24, the latest kernels now have generic support for
setting keycodes and for indicating which keys need automatic key up
events generating. This is all configurable from userspace and udev now
has a special component to handle loading such configurations when the
machine is detected.

I don't know if it can be related, but after that workaround I'm unable to
reproduce the nautilus crash in bug 718098 anymore.

[Bug 718969] Re: brasero crashes when trying to install missing packages.

2011-02-16 Thread Marc Deslauriers
The tester of the maverick -proposed package in bug #529696 (comment
#166) successfully tested the packagekit backend that this bug refers
to. I am marking this as verification-done.

[Bug 708883] Re: Panda board shuts down during boot

2011-02-16 Thread warmcat
After a lot of help from kenws testing, I have a small patch which
should stop the Panda going OFF. I can explain why it goes off without
the patch, but since TI won't let me have a twl6030 datasheet I can't
get right to the end yet.

Basically the Panda PMIC is seeing an overcurrent on one of its
regulators, and reporting it via b6 of its interrupt sources VXXX_SHORT.
Like other PMICs, if something bad like that happens the PMIC gives the
CPU a short time to acknowledge the report of the bad news, and if the
CPU doesn't come and clear the interrupt within that time, the PMIC will
force the device OFF for safety.

The mainline twl6030 driver takes the approach that it will mask off all
interrupt sources except the ones it is interested in, just MMC card
detect and USB OTG ID status at the moment. Therefore if the VXXX_SHORT
condition occurs with the driver as it is, the interrupt is not cleared
and the PMIC panics forcing the Panda OFF.

The patch enables all interrupt sources instead, so the condition is
acknowledged.

The variation in boards showing the problem or not is explained by the
process spread of the overcurrent comparator in the PMIC; I was able to
reduce the threshold on mine by lowering Vin and reducing the PMIC
temperature so I could control whether VXXX_SHORT was generated or not
since the actual current was marginal vs the comparator limit. But
since the comparator limit would normally be quite a little bit above
the max legal current, it suggests that on one regulator the Panda
really is pulling more than it should.

So the root cause is genuinely excessive current on one of the
regulators, but I don't know which one because I don't have a datasheet
(although I would look at the 2.1V one first). The final fix will be to
identify the regulator and reduce the current taken. But in the
meanwhile this patch should remove the symptom.
