This bug is a link to launchpad one:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pcmanfm/+bug/820865

the bug can be reproduced in opensuse as well. the bug has been fixed
upstream and the patch in into X11:lxde/libfm package.

asking for a swamp ID to push the fix in openSUSE 11.3 an 11.4

this bug causes data loss and i believe it's critical.

Reproducible: Always

[Bug 822828] [NEW] texlive-latex-extra-doc is too big in size and includes unneeded big minitoc-fr.pdf file (~27Mb)

2011-08-08 Thread Mantas Kriaučiūnas
Public bug reported:

texlive-latex-extra-doc is too big in size (187 megabytes) and includes
unneeded big minitoc-fr.pdf files (~27Mb size) in
/usr/share/doc/texlive-latex-extra-doc/latex/minitoc/ folder:
ubuntu@ubuntu:/$ ls -lh
usr/share/doc/texlive-latex-extra-doc/latex/minitoc/mini*pdf
27M 2009-05-31 00:46
usr/share/doc/texlive-latex-extra-doc/latex/minitoc/minitoc-fr.pdf
27M 2009-05-31 00:46
usr/share/doc/texlive-latex-extra-doc/latex/minitoc/minitoc.pdf

I don't know why these minitoc*.pdf files are so big, maybe because of included
images in PDF files?
It would be nice to decrease size of minitoc*.pdf files, maybe converting to
Dejavu or HTML format would help?
If there are no way to decrease size of minitoc*.pdf files at least twice then
please remove minitoc-fr.pdf file

[Bug 822830] [NEW] chrome contents pane blank when window size larger than a particular area

2011-08-08 Thread twelve17
Public bug reported:

When browsing, if I maximize the window, or simply resize it past a
certain point, the content disappears, and I only see the tabs and URL
bar. The remaining content below is simply white. If I un-maximize,
or resize the window to be smaller, the content reappears.

It seems like if I make the window's area larger than some amount, the
contents disappear. Meaning, if I shrink the window's width, I can make
it taller before the contents disappear.

I have logged into my X session with "classic (no effects)", to rule out
compiz. The issue still appears there. I am using the ATI accelerated
driver "fglrx" version 2:8.840-0ubuntu4.

I just recently installed 11.04, and I want to say that I did not see
this problem until I installed the updates post installation.

[Bug 822822] [NEW] Wireless networking no longer supports > 1 setting for an access point

2011-08-08 Thread ScottMarlowe
Public bug reported:

Up until Ubuntu 10.10, you could have more than 1 setting for a single
wireless access point. Now, while I can create those profiles, I no
longer can select anything but the first one. I would have made you
some pretty screen shots to show the difference, but neither ubuntu
10.10 nor 11.04 allow the prtscrn button to work when the network modal
selector is selected from the menu bar.

[Bug 809897] Re: Unity launcher appears UNDER windows though screencap shows it on top of windows

2011-08-08 Thread Jeff Lane
Any love for this? I'd really like to see this resolved for Oneiric as
it is a pretty bad UI usability issue. The whole point of the launcher
on the left side was better use of screen realestate, but if I can't use
the launcher because I'm using the screen's real estate, what's the
point?

As added information:

I currently have Thunderbird maximized and it's taking up the entire
screen. As long as any application is either maximized or is not
maximised but has any part of its window resting inside the area on the
left side where the launcher would appear, the launcher will appear
BENEATH that/those application(s).

I've attached a video demonstrating this behaviour that I took just now
on a thinkpad x201.

[Bug 60901] Re: Slow startup - "Fetching summary information for new messages"

2011-08-08 Thread Robert Petry
This works worked for me on: Samsung Netbook N150 with Lucix-lynx
2.6.32-33

I actually found a solution while checking how to delete mails from my
trash-folder that wouldn't delete no matter how often I told evolution
to do it.

So here's how it goes.

1. Run a back-up.
2. Go to your home folder.
3. Check the "show hidden files" in the view menu to see all the files.
4. Navigate to ".evolution/mail/local" folder.
5. Select and DELETE all files EXCEPT ending in ".data" AND EXCEPT all files
without file-extensions.

First start-up will take a while, because evolution will index your
files, but next start-up will be in a flash :D

I hope this will work out for you, too.

You are using unity-2d and I believe this only happens when compiz is

its window borders when an app is maximized in unity-2d. For now moving

[Bug 668415] Re: Movement of Unity launcher

2011-08-08 Thread IKT
Fernando, does Kubuntu offer KDE 3.5 as an option during the
installation process? Do any major KDE distro's offer KDE 3.5 support
anymore?

Most software venders will move on to newer software they have made
unless there is a drastic reason why not to, this is the nature of the
software business.

In the open source business you are free to continue to use the older
software as long as you like, and if you don't like that it isn't
supported anymore you are free to move to another distro which does
support the software you want or even to go further and pay someone to
support and update that older software.

I have had many issues with Unity, however many of those issues have
been fixed in the next version simply because people like you and me put
in requests with our issues.

My best advice in relation to your feature request is to please do
submit bug reports and get involved in the community, that way we can
continue to improve Unity and make it so you don't want to reject it.

thanks

[Bug 822810] [NEW] Current step in Evolution Setup Assistant unreadable

2011-08-08 Thread Frederik Elwert
Public bug reported:

The Evolution Setup Assistant, which is launched when you start
Evolution for the first time, contains a column with the steps to
perform on the left hand side. It uses white text color to indicate the
currently active step in the assistant. This is hardly readable on the
light background.

(Besides that, this column isn’t exactly a masterpiece in design, but
that’s probably a matter of taste. The readability isn’t.)

[Bug 494099] Re: subwoofer stops working after playback ends

2011-08-08 Thread Michael B. Trausch
When I was using Ubuntu (I am no longer using it on any of my systems)
for any 5.1 card, I would have to have the sound properties open while I
was playing music, and when a new song came on, I would have to flip the
profile from 5.1 to something else and then back to 5.1 for the speakers
to work correctly. I am now using another distribution without PA and
my hardware works as expected and I am far more pleased.

The problem is not a kernel issue as has been alleged earlier on this
thread; it is definitely a PA-specific problem, and that logically means
that PA is the responsible subsystem. Unfortunately, it would seem that
quality sound is not a priority, as it has been broken in every single
release since PA was added to Ubuntu—one of many reasons I am no longer
using it (the brokenness of sound—and the unwillingness to even
acknowledge, let alone fix, long-standing user-facing bugs such as this
one is probably the biggest reason that I am no longer an Ubuntu user).
I need my computer to operate within specified parameters, and I need my
operating system to do the same. It’d sure be nice if the people who
claim to support the system would not participate in what we in the
States call the “corporate blame game”, where every bug is someone
else’s problem, but that is what it has come to over the years.

I’m off to find a way to unsubscribe en masse from all Ubuntu bugs I
have reported or subscribed to over the years; seems moot that I should
still be subscribed to them when I no longer use nor care about the
distribution. Good luck to you who pursue a functional sound system in
Ubuntu: I sincerely hope you someday get it.

Of course, I ran these commands after seeing:
aklog: unable to obtain tokens for cell athena.mit.edu (status: 11862788).

and:

$ sudo /etc/init.d/openafs-client restart

[Bug 709955] Re: 03f0:241d Gobi wireless modem only works when rebooting from windows

2011-08-08 Thread Seth Forshee
The problem here is the missing firmware, and based on my understanding
this firmware isn't something that we're able to distribute. Therefore
I'm closing this bug as won't fix.

[Bug 709955] Re: 03f0:241d Gobi wireless modem only works when rebooting from windows

2011-08-08 Thread txomon
The first link worked perfectly, but it is needed to have a windows
installation in the computer (or in a vm).
I am going to do a copy paste from it so that if that web disappears, here
still is the solution:

"""
In Ubuntu, make sure the package gobi-loader

$ sudo apt-get install gobi-loader
Now mount your Windows partition

$ sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt
and copy the needed files

$ cd cd /mnt/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/QUALCOMM/Images/HP/
$ sudo mkdir /lib/firmware/gobi
$ sudo cp 0/uqcn.mbn UMTS/* /lib/firmware/gobi

That’s it; Reboot or reload udev and the modem should now be available in
Network Manager.
"""
