[Bug 837244] Re: package manager problems on upgrades. installed Mint, reinstalled natty, still having problems.

2011-10-27 Thread Brian Murray
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure can be caused by filesystem or memory corruption.
So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. If
this does resolve your bug please set its status to Invalid. Thanks in
advance!

[Bug 882667] [NEW] C headers are missing from armel 11.10

2011-10-27 Thread Frostybeard
Public bug reported:

I installed Oneiric onto my Pandaboard and noticed that there are no C
headers, even if dpkg -l shows that libc6 and libc6-dev are installed.
In /usr/include they are simply not there. gcc complains when #include
stdio.h is added to a C source file.

[Bug 860251] Re: switching between speakers and headphone doesn't work with Aus Xonar

2011-10-27 Thread Pavel Fischer
hmm. It looks like the error is more complicated. I have reinstalled
Ubuntu 11.10 and the installed Pulseaudio 1.1 from the source with

./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc
make -j2
sudo make install

Then remove files from ~/.pulse/, as I make it last time, but it
doesn't work more. No switching.

I have also tried to install packages from Precise
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/1:1.1-0ubuntu1/+build/2881253),
but it also don't work.

Then i started the server in the debug mode (pulseaudio --log-
level=debug) and try to change the output port. Nothing was printed
after the changing. On my current Ubuntu 11.04 i get a text like this:

I: sink.c: Changed port of sink 0 alsa_output.pci-_04_02.0.analog-stereo
to output-speaker
I: module-device-restore.c: Storing volume/mute/port for device
sink:alsa_output.pci-_04_02.0.analog-stereo.

So, it seems to be an error in module-alsa-sink.so.

What else can I do to get more information about the problem?

[Bug 882664] [NEW] no Chinese/Simplified translation in oneiric

2011-10-27 Thread Kyle Nitzsche
Public bug reported:

Even with the latest language packs (11.10+20111025) from proposed
installed, Ubuntu Desktop Guide does not appear to display in
Chinese/Simplified (the only language I checked).

Digging a little, it appears that the translated .page files are
delivered by language-pack-gnome-LANG-base pkgs.

It seems the Spanish language packs includes them, but zh-hans (for
Chinese simplified) language packs do not:

enough to handle the 'unsafe-io' option set in the configuration file.

[Bug 882149] Re: Suspend does not work anymore

2011-10-27 Thread Joseph Salisbury
This issue appears to be an upstream bug, since you tested the latest
upstream kernel. Would it be possible for you to open an upstream bug
report at bugzilla.kernel.org [1]? That will allow the upstream
Developers to examine the issue, and may provide a quicker resolution to
the bug.

If you are comfortable with opening a bug upstream, It would be great if
you can report back the upstream bug number in this bug report. That
will allow us to link this bug to the upstream report.

The bugzilla.kernel.org may still be unavailable due to the recent
break-in. One alternative would be to report this directly to the
subsystem maintainer or to the Linux Kernel Mailing List - linux-
ker...@vger.kernel.org

Just for the record, I just repeated the installation again and this
time it worked. The only difference is that on the first time I
selected 'Try Ubuntu' then I started the harddisk installation while on
the second I chose to install on the harddisk right from the beginning.

[Bug 363619] Re: Language-support-extra-de breaks OpenOffice spell checker in Jaunty

2011-10-27 Thread André Pirard
I'm sorry. My above should be disregarded.
According to the following, de_med needs no .aff file of its own.

man hunspell
   -d en_US,en_geo,en_med,de_DE,de_med

en_US and de_DE are base dictionaries, they consist of aff and dic
   file pairs: en_US.aff, en_US.dic and de_DE.aff, de_DE.dic. En_geo,
en_med, de_med are special dictionaries: dictionaries without affix
file. Special dictionaries are optional extension of the base dictio‐
naries usually with special (medical, law etc.) terms. There is no
naming convention for special dictionaries, only the .dic exten‐
sion: dictionaries without affix file will be an extension of the
preceding base dictionary (right order of the parameter list needs
for good suggestions). First item of -d parameter list must be a base
   dictionary.

[Bug 870404] Re: When navigating Dash by keyboard, sometimes titles with no function are incorrectly focused

2011-10-27 Thread Matt Sturgeon
Are you sure you've got the latest updates (sudo apt-get update sudo
apt-get upgrade)?

As I mentioned before there does seem to be some inconsistency, but
however on my machine it does still appear to be behaving as I
described.

Except Apps Available for Download no longer focuses it's title (at
least today anyway :-\ )

I don't get how this issue can be so inconsistent across computers and
sessions..

Also sometimes the cursor continues flashing in the searchbox even if I
focus another element

2011-10-27 Thread Timothy Mayoh
Can you please test to see if this occurs with the upstream mainline
kernel (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds)? This will
potentially allow additional developers to examine the issue.

Also, please be sure to take a look at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume. If you
can provide any additional information outlined there it would be much
appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Timothy

[Bug 882685] [NEW] lucid linux-firmware lacks ath3k driver update

2011-10-27 Thread Thomas Bushnell, BSG
Public bug reported:

The version of linux-firmware in lucid-updates is 1.34.7.

This lacks an update to the ath3k driver which was released in the
git.kernel.org firmware repo on December 13, 2010. See
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/dwmw2/linux-
firmware.git;a=history;f=ath3k-1.fw;h=63aa9b9ad87d3d918e441d921ada9cad08687ae5;hb=HEAD
for the commit to the upstream repo.

This is necessary to support USB-BT211 devices. We've verified that
failing devices start working when the upstream firmware is dropped in
place of the older one in lucid-updates.

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=702375 is the corresponding
bug in RedHat, for example.

Can the lucid-updates version of linux-firmware please be updated to
include this newer firmware?

[Bug 881975] Re: Window focus issue on using expo, Alt+Tab and popup window after login

2011-10-27 Thread Phil V
Thanks for checking out that report. To me it seems like there are two
separate issues here. Focusing windows when a workspace is switched, and
your keyring prompt not receiving focus problem. These issues might be
related but I'm not positive. I don't think we should mark this as
duplicate, then, but change this report to only encompass the keyring
prompt not being focused issue, removing everything about switching
workspaces and those windows not being focused. You should certainly
mark yourself as an affected user on bug 876333, though.

In summary, I propose we change the title of this bug to:
After login, prompts such as the privilege escalation prompt do not receive
focus

And the body of the report to:
After login, pop up windows such as the password prompt for privilege
escalation do not receive focus, causing the user to have to click the window
to begin entering their password.
Exact steps to reproduce: (please provide these)

If you agree, please go ahead and make these changes.

** Package changed: ubuntu = compiz (Ubuntu)
