[Bug 886820] Re: [Kubuntu 11.10] Screen brightness control does not work on Samsung RV511 laptop
Ivan Stetsenko, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please attach the results following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Debugging/Backlight ? As well, can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. [Bug 964550] [NEW] No documented way of showing text boot screen
Public bug reported: When booting from Ubuntu Precise CD the splash screen with the Ubuntu is displayed, pressing ESC shows a text screen with progress details. 1. This is particularly useful when trying to find where a bug occurs on CD bootup, but I think it is undocumented. Certainly it is not prominent in the documentation at wiki.ubuntu.com. 2. I would document it myself but I don't know if it is a design feature that is repeatable on all hardware. 3. It is also not clear what one is seeing. [Bug 964555] [NEW] Totem shows wrong frame when pausing

[Bug 964415] Re: Please sync from Debian to get security fix
* A description of the proposed changes, with sufficient detail to estimate their potential impact on the distribution When connecting to the key information server, to check whether a GPG software-signing key should be trusted, 0install asks Python to check that the server has a valid HTTPS certificate. However, Python's certificate validator does not check that the certificate presented is for the site requested. Therefore, an attacker with a valid X.509 certificate for another site can impersonate the key information server. 0install 1.6 contains a fix for this (doing the validation itself). * A rationale for the exception, explaining the benefit of the change A release should not go out with a known security flaw. * Any additional information which would be helpful in considering the decision The changes between 1.4.1 and 1.6 are quite minor (mostly bug-fixes). A PPA package of 1.6 for precise is here: https://launchpad.net/~talex5/+archive/0install This PPA is a direct import from Debian (it does not contain the patch for bug #953756). I will upload a patch for that once the sync is done. [Bug 961055] Re: Bug message from usb
Ygor, thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. , thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. One may execute at the Terminal: sudo apt-get -y install libc6-dbg sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 964535] Re: ubiquity 2.10.2 package wants to install full kde stack
This is because ubiquity depends on any of its frontends, and so if ubiquity-frontend-gtk is temporarily uninstallable for some reason then the packaging system will tend to try to pick a different one to satisfy its dependencies. I don't intend to change this since you aren't supposed to have ubiquity installed on normal systems anyway - it's only for use on live CDs and the like - and since the real problem here was probably elsewhere. ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: New = Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/964535 Title: ubiquity 2.10.2 package wants to install full kde stack To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/964535/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 964571] [NEW] Alt+Shift+Tab doesn't work unless Alt+Tab is pressed first.
Public bug reported: The keyboard shortcut Alt-Shift-Tab does nothing unless Alt-Tab is pressed first (and Alt is continued to be held down). It should be possible to use the keyboard window switcher in reverse order without having to go forward first. (Other desktops such as Windows, GNOME Shell, etc. allow this.) This also affects the Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Tab shortcut (to show windows from all workspaces). If this isn't fixed, I guess the help article will have to be a bit more complex to explain that. To quote from the Desktop help: When you hold down the Alt key and then press Tab, a window switcher appears. This shows a list of the windows you have open, with a preview. You can continue pressing Tab as many times as you need to reach the window you want. To switch to the previous window, hold down the Alt key and press Shift- Tab instead. Only windows from the current workspace will be shown. To show windows from all workspaces, hold down the Ctrl and Alt keys and press Tab or Shift-Tab. If you've got any other ideas or information you need, lay it on me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/666493 Title: Maverick's imon kernel module does not support protocol switching (regression) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/666493/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
