[Bug 982956] [NEW] HUD won't show main window menu options when a chat window has focus

2012-04-16 Thread NeilGreenwood
Public bug reported:

I had the Empathy main window (with the list of contacts) open but not
focussed, and was in a chat window. I showed the HUD to try to change
the theme, but neither theme nor preferences brought up the main
Empathy window's menu list. I ended up with the Preferences from an
indicator app (dropbox) instead.

[Bug 982954] [NEW] launcher intermittently doesn't appear when auto-hide is on

2012-04-16 Thread NeilGreenwood
Public bug reported:

I have a single monitor setup, with the launcher set to auto-hide. I've
left the sensitivity at the default value. I have sticky edges switched
on too.

Occasionally when I try to show the launcher with the mouse, it won't
pop out. I see the shadow appear, so maybe it's showing a single pixel
or something. The Super key shows it normally, and after repeated tries
it normally starts working again. It could be something to do with the
velocity and the sticky edges, I'm not sure.

[Bug 980616] Re: Printing Deutsche Bahn ticket on Kyocera PS printer takes 5 minutes (regression to 11.10)

2012-04-16 Thread cliddell
Till,

Sorry, that's not quite what I meant by inject Postscript. What I was
hoping for was a way to bypass the PDF print queue (PDF is *so*
unsuitable for that!), so that an end user can take Postscript directly
out of Ghostscript and push it into the CUPS back end to have the PPD
derived stuff added, and CUPS related workarounds added, and then sent
to the printer.

It would save me having to hand edit all the Postscript files to add the
PJL, the bind workaround, the PPD settings and such to every test job
we try.

Chris

[Bug 977912] Re: Kyocera FS1320D needs resolution set in ghostscript filter

2012-04-16 Thread Till Kamppeter
The Ghostscript command line used by pdftops when the printer is Kyocera
is the following:

gs -q -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -dSAFER -sDEVICE=ps2write -sOUTPUTFILE=%stdout
-dLanguageLevel=3 -r600 -dCompressPages=false -dCompressFonts=false
-dNoT3CCITT -c save pop -f /tmp/02bbe4f8e7e74

The resolution ( -r...) is always the actual printing resolution
derived from the PPD file. The file name after the -f is the name of the
PDF input file.

In addition, pdftops adds the following workaround PostScript code right
after %%BeginProlog, being the first non-comment code in the output PS
file:

--
% = Workaround insertion by pdftops CUPS filter =
% Kyocera's PostScript interpreter crashes on early name binding,
% so eliminate all binds by redifining bind to no-op
/bind {} bind def
% =

Thanks, do you know what the difference was in the orig.tar.gz file?

I guess you built them twice, and used one variant for precise and the
other for those SRUs.

These are debian native packages, right?

No, they are not. They have a proper orig.tar.gz.

Upon loading a pptx file into Libreoffice Impress from MS Office 2007
or 2008 (prepared on windows 7) all the cropping information of the
included images is lost. The images resort to their full dimensions and
are often scaled anisotropically to fit into their previous dimensions.
The dimensions of the images are maintained but the crop information is
lost. Other than this bug everything seems to import well. It would be
great o have this work.

I believe the difference between cropped and uncropped (and potentially
the line that is being ignored) is:

a:ext cx=2796737 cy=6065838/

in the file /ppt/slides/slide1.xml

this is an example document showing the issue:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/705962/+attachment/1802370/+files/example%20cropped.pptx
This is a screenshot of the correct rendering under windows:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/705962/+attachment/1802369/+files/powerpoint.png

Another remark: The thumbnailer from the libgsf project produces a
correct thumbnail.

I just tested Nightly, and nothing was ever fixed.
Pressing Ctrl+Enter from the search bar still doesn't open the results in a new

Alt+Enter makes no sense, that's how you get Properties in Windows Explorer, or
toggle full screen mode in a game.

[Bug 982964] [NEW] qtcreator is not shownig menu-Build on mouse click

2012-04-16 Thread melchiaros
Public bug reported:

I am on Ubuntu12.04 updated to 15.4.2012.

qtcreator2.4.1 has a little bug in the menu bar.

When I move the mouse direct to the menu - Build without touching the
other menu options beside Build(Edit or Debug) and clicking with
the laft mouse button the options of menu - Build schould be shown.

This does not happen.

Instead when I click first on Edit or Debug the options of this menu
entries are shown to me. A moving from there without leaving the high of
the menu bar to the Build menu the options of Build are then shown
to me.

[Bug 973930] Re: MacBook Air running Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 2 overheats

2012-04-16 Thread Brad Figg
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue.

However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during
any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all.
Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request
further testing. This is such a request.

We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel
than the one you last tested when this issue was found. Please test
again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still
exists or not.

You can update to the latest development kernel by simply running the
following commands in a terminal window:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to
Confirmed. If the bug no longer exists, change the bug status from
Incomplete to Fix Released.

If you want this bot to quit automatically requesting kernel tests, add
a tag named: bot-stop-nagging.

Thank you for your help, we really do appreciate it.

[Bug 970150] Re: Leaving a fullscreen program/game doesn't restore resolution

2012-04-16 Thread zzarko
There are many games that don't restore resolution at exit. Is it
possible that so many of them are doing things wrong? This sounds like
system issue to me, not neceserally Unity issue, but maybe Gnome 3? Is
it possible to detect that aplicattion that was closed was working in
fullscreen mode (or, in different resolution than desktop default)? If
yes, then, I guess, this problem could be solved on operating system
level.

[Bug 861268] Re: text corruption in terminals (xterm, urxvt) and emacs

2012-04-16 Thread Juha Aatrokoski
I have this bug on Gentoo, running xterm under compiz, Radeon card with
gallium drivers. Before hardware upgrade the system had nVidia card with
nVidia's proprietary drivers, software otherwise the same, and it did
not have this bug.

When I have time I plan to try upgrading to Gentoo's unstable versions
of mesa etc. to see if they will fix the bug, but for now I use the
workaround of (re)starting compiz with the --indirect-rendering
option, which seems to get rid of the symptoms. Other people here might
want to test if it works for them also.

[Bug 980616] Re: Printing Deutsche Bahn ticket on Kyocera PS printer takes 5 minutes (regression to 11.10)

2012-04-16 Thread Till Kamppeter
The Ghostscript command line used by pdftops when the printer is Kyocera
is the following:

gs -q -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -dSAFER -sDEVICE=ps2write -sOUTPUTFILE=%stdout
-dLanguageLevel=3 -r600 -dCompressPages=false -dCompressFonts=false
-dNoT3CCITT -c save pop -f /tmp/02bbe4f8e7e74

The resolution ( -r...) is always the actual printing resolution
derived from the PPD file. The file name after the -f is the name of the
PDF input file.

In addition, pdftops adds the following workaround PostScript code right
after %%BeginProlog, being the first non-comment code in the output PS
file:

--
% = Workaround insertion by pdftops CUPS filter =
% Kyocera's PostScript interpreter crashes on early name binding,
% so eliminate all binds by redifining bind to no-op
/bind {} bind def
% =

2012-04-16 Thread Till Kamppeter
Chris, if you want to push manually generated/edited PostScript into the
CUPS queue, you can print it via

lpr -o raw ...

This makes it getting printed without any filtering.

[Bug 977912] Re: Kyocera FS1320D needs resolution set in ghostscript filter

2012-04-16 Thread cliddell
What we were talking about is, if you look in Acrobat Pro, in the dialogue for
creating Postscript, it has a drop down menu titled Transparency Flattener
Preset which has the options High Resolution, Medium Resoluiton and Low
Resolution. Those options are totally independent of the resolution of the
target printer.

It gives the user the option of I want the best quality, however long
it takes, I want it as fast as possible, and damn the quality or
something in-between.

So, in a similar manner, it might be good to allow users to specify the
flattening resolution (passed to Ghostscript) independently of the
printer resolution (default behaviour would obviously be as it works
now). You could even do something like High (current behaviour),
Medium (flattener resolution == printer res / 2), Low (flattener
res == printer res / 3), or Custom (allowing the user the specify
their own flattener resolution).

As mentioned above, this is a *feature* suggestion/request for your
consideration, not a bug report. It's just something that occurred to me
might be useful for a future CUPS release.

Chris

2012-04-16 Thread cliddell
Till,

AIUI,
lpr -o raw ...

Is just a passthrough direct to the printer, so I *still* have to
manually edit *every* test file to get it to work on the printer.

If it's the pdftops filter that adds (at least some of) the printer
specific stuff, then I'll assume there's no way for me to avoid the hand
editing :-(

This seems as if bug 358283 was never fixed, or a regression.

The original bug's comments show how i18n should work for this
notification.

I configured xl2tp and OpenSwan to connect to my VPN server, but instead

I just had it occur again. I remain fixed on the old issues: playing
music on Clementine or watching flash videos. However, I just downloaded
the Steel Storm game. A few seconds in the problem appears and I have to
hard reboot.

[Bug 982762] Re: Nvidia 295.40 - Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 2 Fresh Install (slow performance in Unity 3D)

2012-04-16 Thread Alvaro Leal (Effenberg0x0)
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 982485 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/982485

** Description changed:

Ubuntu Release: 12.04 (PP Beta 2 with full updates for Apr 15, 2012)
  $ lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu precise (development branch)
  Release: 12.04

  Package and Version:
  nvidia-current 295.40-0ubuntu1
NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-295.40.run (binary installer from NVidia FTP)

I have seen this behavior in 3 machines today. In at least one of them, the
performance got back to normal after:
  - Uninstalling nvidia-*;
- - Making sure nouveau wouldn't auto-load after removing nvidia-current
(/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.con - added Blacklist nouveau);
+ - Making sure nouveau wouldn't auto-load after removing nvidia-current
(/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf - added Blacklist nouveau);
  - Downloading / installing NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-295.40.run from NVdia FTP
(download.nvidia.com);
  - Unchecking Sync to VBlank in CCSM/OpenGL Plugin;
  - Unchecking Sync to VBlank in nvidia-settings (at XServer XVideo Settings
and OpenGL Settings);

I have verified that the softlinks at /usr/lib/*GL* and /usr/lib32/*GL*
are correct, unlike previous problems we had with NVidia weird
performance specially in OO (rare reports in PP).

/var/log/Xorg.0.log displays no warning/error or unusual info regarding
NVidia/NVRM and neither does dmesg.
Some users are reporting crashes of compiz (in which Unity launcher / global
panel) disappears). This is not the case for me.
Modinfo confirms I am using the correct kernel module version (295.40) and
lsmod shows no trace of other vga driver, other nvidia module besides the
correct one or nouveau.

Fell free to contact me if any further info is needed.

  Thank you,
  Alvaro Effenberg0x0 Leal

Apologies for delay in replying. I have been cycle touring in Tasmania.
Thanks for your assistance to date. I have purchased a $40 laser
printer (Brother HL-2132) which works adequately under Linux CUPS
(better under WinXP). Do you think it worthwhile to continue bug
testing after I have upgraded to 12.04 LTS?

[Bug 982787] Re: glance-registry start report error

2012-04-16 Thread Marco CONSONNI
I experimented the same problem when I tried to configure MySql
database.

After installing glance with

-- apt-get install glance

I started all the services with

-- glance-control all start

Everything seemde to be OK.

Only some complains from the scrubber, as reported in the log file
(scrubber.log)

2012-04-16 13:24:02 7768ERROR [glance.store.filesystem] Could not find
filesystem_store_datadir in configuration options.
2012-04-16 13:24:02 7768ERROR [glance.store.base] Failed to configure store
correctly. Disabling add method.
2012-04-16 13:24:02 7768ERROR [glance.store.s3] Could not find
s3_store_host in configuration options.
2012-04-16 13:24:02 7768ERROR [glance.store.base] Failed to configure store
correctly. Disabling add method.
2012-04-16 13:24:02 7768ERROR [glance.store.swift] Could not find
swift_store_auth_address in configuration options.
2012-04-16 13:24:02 7768ERROR [glance.store.base] Failed to configure store
correctly. Disabling add method.

But I think this is not a DB problem: maybe it's a problem related to
the storage back-end configuration.

---
Then I tried to use MySQL for the registry.

I prepared a SQL DB (as reported here http://docs.openstack.org/trunk
/openstack-compute/install/content/configure-glance-mysql.html) and I
modified glance-registry.conf (as reported here
http://glance.openstack.org/configuring.html).

I restarted all the services and I got the error reported at the
beginning of this bug report.

I presume the problem is in the DB that is not migrated from sqlite to
MySQL.

Could you possibly indicate how to do that manually or to create MySQL
DB tables and indexes from scratch?

[Bug 969657] Re: No way to empty trash in gnome-fallback

2012-04-16 Thread peterzay
Every desktop (Windows, Mac, any distro of Linux) has always had a trash
can.

Keep it that way.
