[Bug 1056468] Re: monitor inactive during plymouth animation

2012-09-25 Thread Steve Langasek
The most likely cause for this would be a kernel video driver trying to
drive the display at a resolution not supported by your monitor. Please
add 'plymouth.debug=file:/var/log/plymouth-debug.log' to your boot
options and attach the resulting log file. Please also attach the
output of the command 'xrandr'.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

Public bug reported:

Hello to the Ubuntu Support Team,

It would appear that there is a missing dependency when installing
libanyevent-xmpp-perl in 12.04 LTS server. The package also requires
XML::Twig (libxml-twig-perl) to operate correctly, but is not on the
dependency list.

Thanks!

[Bug 860375] Re: Screen edge actions set in CCSM don't work (sometimes)

2012-09-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I think I've found a test case that breaks my corner binding:

1. Load the grid and expo plugins.
2. Test that dragging windows to the top-left corner triggers grid.
3. Enter expo mode (top-left corner or Super+E)
4. Try to drag one of the windows to the top left corner of the screen. It
won't get that far, but make sure the mouse gets to the corner.
5. Exit expo mode (Escape or Super+E)
6. Try dragging a window to the top left-corner again.

Expected: Grid to trigger.
Observed: Nothing.

[Bug 1049534] Re: [regression from 12.04] VGA Monitor uses reduced resolution

2012-09-25 Thread iroli
I found a way to work around the issue:

$ xrandr --addmode VGA1 1280x1024
$ xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1280x1024

but I have to do this after every reboot which is not a good solution. I also
found out that EDID information is not detected correctly by the i915 drm
modul, as
/sys/module/drm/drivers/pci:i915/:00:02.0/drm/card0/card0-VGA-1/edid is an
empty file.

Re: [Bug 1055922] Re: Ubuntu freezes completely - only solution is a hard reset

2012-09-25 Thread John Hempton
I have now updated the kernel.

The system seems stable. However as the crash was roughly once per day
I will run for four or five days with the new kernel.

If I have have no problems I will denote as fixed with upstream kernel.

PS. Thanks again for the Ubuntu experience.

[Bug 907438] Re: It seems that this version of this software is obsolete.

2012-09-25 Thread Descotis
I don't know if it's the same bug.
The bug 907438 was reported on 2011-12-21 with the version grib 3.5.0. It was
corrected because the version grib in Ubuntu Quantal is 3.9.2. But since two or
three days the version requested by Grib must be minimal 4.0.1
For your information the last version Grib is 6.0.1

[Bug 1056457] Re: Default Ubuntu session shows Empathy with "Available" state

2012-09-25 Thread Lars Uebernickel
The messaging menu works as expected, the problem is that telepathy-
indicator is started by default. It acts as if it were empathy, shows it
as running and sets the status to online.

By the way, the messaging menu isn't visible for the first 15 seconds of
the session: telepathy-indicator is started with a delay.

Thanks very much for that heads up. I'll try again as soon as I can, but
since my laptop with nVidia graphics is also my main work computer it
may be awhile before I have another good opportunity to test a full
install of 12.10. =(
