OK. Are we building openafs twice for 12.04 then? Both kernels still exist.
My question was a run time question, not a build time question.

[Bug 908526] Re: Shutter indicator somtimes only visible in Expo view

2013-02-27 Thread Doug Morse
OK, according to http://askubuntu.com/questions/39843/application-
indicator-for-shutter, this issue is fixed in Shutter 0.89, which
presently is available from a PPA and can be installed / updated thusly:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:shutter/ppa
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install shutter

I have upgrade this v0.89 and I'll report back if it DOES NOT fix the
problem. If I've not reported back, then you can safely assume that I
have NOT encounted this problem again (i.e., I promise to report back
here the very first time the problem re-occurs).

[Bug 908526] Re: Shutter indicator somtimes only visible in Expo view

2013-02-27 Thread Doug Morse
I think it's important to clarify a few issues with this bug:

First, for some of us -- including myself and the original submitter --
the Shutter indicate DOES work and appear in Unity's indicators once
Shutter starts. Rather, it's just that, at some point for reasons I've
not been able to nail down, the Shutter indicator inexplicable
disappears in (all) workspace views, but oddly re-appears in Expo view
(compiz) and then re-disappears once a particular workspace has been
selected.

Obviously, seeing the indicator in Expo view is nice and a way of easily
knowing that Shutter is still running, but functionally does nothing
(i.e,. clicking on it in Expo view does NOT unhide Shutter).

Thus, and secondly, IMHO the really problem here is that, when the
indicator disappears in the workspace views, there's NO WAY to access
Shutter, because once it's hidden, the ONLY way to bring the Shutter
window back is to click on it's indicator. So, since you can't see the
indicator, you can't click on it to restore Shutter.

Thus, the only solution is to "killall shutter" in a terminal or with
Alt-F2 and then re-start Shutter. It's a major annoyance to those of us
who regularly make screenshots to help educate users.

2013-02-27 Thread Roman Yepishev
mysql-server-5.5:
  Installed: 5.5.29-0ubuntu0.12.04.2

Logs are written to /var/log/mysql/error.log.

Please note that /etc/mysql/conf.d/mysqld_safe_syslog.cnf still exists
and it sets syslog target if mysql service is running via mysqld_safe.
Since currently mysqld is started directly, there is no need for that
file.

Please check whether the latest sound git tree works as is.
We enabled the LPIB delay counting for Poulsbo there, and it may fix
most cases.

2013-02-27 Thread David Henningsson
The user reports a regression (choppy audio), and that
position_fix=1 (or position_fix=4) fixes the issue.

This is a Poulsbo controller (8086:811b (rev 07)), so might be
worth checking if other Poulsbo machines suffer from the same bug.

[Bug 1134487] Re: I keep getting a message that begins " Error: opening the cache w. duplicate services....

2013-02-27 Thread sampo555
The full error message is something we need to debug this issue.

To open a terminal, open the Dash and search for 'gnome-terminal'. Once the
terminal is open, run following commands and attach their output to this bug
report:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt-get upgrade

The first command will update the package information, the next one
checks for broken packages and the third one will perform an upgrade.

[Bug 1135350] [NEW] Corrupted image on "kbackgroundsnapshot -c"

2013-02-27 Thread Martin Magnusson
Public bug reported:

Running "kbackgroundsnapshot -c" to capture the current window produces
a corrupted image. I'm attaching an example image here. The program also
outputs the following in the terminal:

X Error: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter) 9
  Major opcode: 62 (X_CopyArea)
  Resource id: 0x0

When I run without arguments, or with --region, it works as expected: good
image, and no terminal output.

I'm running Kubuntu 12.10, with ksnapshot version 4:4.9.3-0ubuntu0.1

[Bug 744812]

2013-02-27 Thread Akiro
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~tagoh/fontconfig/commit/?h=bz38737

This repo contains the initial patch to propose a fix of this issue.
I didn't implement anything about CMap this time. because dealing with it in
fontconfig may be overkill. applications who wants to use this feature should
knows about it well. they could set the lang into FcPattern instead.

Please test. if there are no problems or concerns, I'll merge it into
master.

Thanks,

[Bug 945033] Re: external keyboard/mouse not available after login on precise

2013-02-27 Thread Jason Robinson
Confirming on 12.10. External keyboard is not detected at all on boot if
it is plugged in and switched on. Most of the times it is detected if it
is plugged in and switched on only when login prompt is visible.
Sometimes to get it detected it is required to turn it off, unplug, plug
back in, turn on and possibly some magic words - then it starts to
always work.

[Bug 1133196] Re: The qmake-qt5 package does not install qmake-qt5

2013-02-27 Thread Timo Jyrinki
The description is wrong, as it's from the time before dropping the
suffixes and migrating to the upstream recommended qtchooser solution.
Fixing the description. The qmake-qt5 package Recommends installing
qtchooser to have /usr/bin/qmake, while the qtchooser Suggests
qt5-default which sets the default configuration (qt4-default sets
/usr/bin/qmake to point to Qt4's qmake).

[Bug 942862] Re: lxc-create failure creating a lucid container in a precise host with old cache

2013-02-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package lxc - 0.7.5-3ubuntu67

---
lxc (0.7.5-3ubuntu67) precise-proposed; urgency=low

  * Don't directly write/remove /etc/dnsmasq.d/lxc as that's causing problems
when removing and reinstalling lxc.
Instead have dnsmasq ship /etc/dnsmasq.d-available/lxc and create/remove
a symlink in /etc/dnsmasq.d/. (LP: #1113821)
  * Bump debhelper dependency and add Pre-Depends on newer dpkg for above fix.
  * Allow the container to mount efivars on /sys/firmware/efi/efivars.
efivars is automatically mounted by mountall on UEFI systems, failure to
do so leads to a complete boot failure. (LP: #1117589)
  * 0221-make-nonflush-upgrades-robust: be more robust about out of date
container caches. (LP: #942862)
  * 0207-ubuntu-cloud-fixes.patch: cleanups to lxc-ubuntu-cloud.in
fix for quantal images that do not have user 'ubuntu' present
(LP: #1045955)
  * 0301-debian-copy-config: Pass all the arguments to copy_configuration.

[Bug 1135297] [NEW] Connection times out when transferring 2 GB+ of data across network.

2013-02-27 Thread Jasauders
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 13.04 64 bit, February 27th daily image. I installed this same
ISO on my laptop and desktop. On both of them if I copy at least 2 GB of
data over the network to a different location, they lock up right around
the 2 GB mark. The transfer stops and eventually I get an error citing
that the connection timed out. Whenever this happens it seems as if I
have to restart to regain network connectivity.

At first I thought this was a Nautilus or Samba thing, as it first
surfaced when I was pushing about 10 GB of data from my 13.04 desktop to
my 12.04 Ubuntu Server. However, I tried this using rsync over SSH and
it did the same thing, indicating it's not likely a Nautilus or Samba
issue.

I also thought it was the hardware of my desktop, but like I said, I
tried my laptop over wireless and it did the same exact thing. I've seen
it happen when the file transfer gets to 2.0 GB or 2.3 GB. Somewhere in
there is when I've seen the error pop up.

I ran dmesg on my desktop after this happened. I was spamming dmesg as
the data was being pushed over the network and I was getting the same
output each time, but the second the issue popped up is when the list of
DMA entries popped up.

[Bug 1135288] [NEW] Upgrade deleted my /opt symlink

2013-02-27 Thread edA-qa
Public bug reported:

I believe one of the Adobe upgrade packages caused my directory
to be unlinked. Usually I symlink this directory to a path on another
partition /home/opt>, something I've done since Ubuntu 8
series. After doing an upgrade today that link was lost and in its
place was a new with contents . So I assume
it is acroread which broke it.

I'm using Kubuntu 12.04 with the Muon update manager, but I suspect it
isn't related to those components.

I've attached a screenshot showing the other packages updated at the
same time.

[Bug 1015925] Re: openafs: Support quantal’s kernel 3.5

2013-02-27 Thread Anders Kaseorg
** Description changed:

As one might expect, quantal’s new kernel 3.5 breaks openafs again. The
upstream deltas to fix it are

  - [cc63cbb] Linux 3.4: replace end_writeback with clear_inode
  - [407e7c9] Linux 3.5: encode_fh API change
+
+ [Impact]
+ Now that linux-image-generic-lts-quantal is in precise main and installed by
default, the OpenAFS kernel module fails to build on precise.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ apt-get install openafs-modules-dkms
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ This fix is already well-tested in quantal. (The only difference between
precise’s 1.6.1-1 and quantal’s pre-change 1.6.1-2 is translation updates.)
It’s a minimal change that has no effect on pre-3.5 kernels, via preprocessor
defines. In the unlikely event of a regression, OpenAFS may fail to come up,
but the local system will remain usable.
+
+ [Other Info]
+ Since debian/source/options contains ‘single-debian-patch’, you may need to
check that the debdiff was really applied (see comments).

[Bug 539339] Re: Exporting to PDF doesn't display text on other computers

2013-02-27 Thread Evan Kendall
Hi Anthony,

This issue has been mentioned elsewhere. I'm hoping it gets resolved,
but another user suggested a workaround that I have been using
successfully for a long time.

Rather than use the built-in "export to pdf" feature, use the "print to
pdf" selection from the printer dialog (this is a common feature in many
distros, so it should work on yours).

[Bug 1135255] [NEW] nautilus global menubar menu disapears after running for about 6 days

2013-02-27 Thread Nathaniel Homier
Public bug reported:

After starting and logging in to unity3D desktop everything is fine.
After running for about 6 days or so, clicking on the nautilus icon in
the unity menu bar on the left opens the file manager as expected.
However when going to the nautilus global menu on the top panel, the
menus are gone and are replaced with a dark brown stub. See attached
screenshot. The only way I know how to get the menus back is by logging
out and then back in again.

Eager to cooperate in solving this annoying bug.

[Bug 1087519] Re: Serial port ttyS4 doesn't work in 12.04

2013-02-27 Thread Roger Davis
I did that, and tried e-Fax GTK, got:
Socket running on port 9900
efax-0.9a: 20:54:11 opened /dev/ttyS4
AND
Sorry, Ubuntu has experienced an internal error... etc. (Is there a way to get
a log of that report - lots of info in there, but all Greek to me...?)
Still says "Sending Fax" until I click stop.
No dialing, no rings at the other end.

No response from Minicom at all.

[Bug 1135209] [NEW] Run update-auctex-elisp via trigger rather than cron job

2013-02-27 Thread Davor Cubranic
Public bug reported:

Please backport Debian bug 478733 (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=478733) into Ubuntu precise (package
auctex/11.86-2ubuntu1), which was fixed in auctex/11.86-6. From the bug:

update-auctex-elisp needs to run whenever new or changed LaTeX files
get installed. Currently, update-auctex-elisp runs via a weekly cron
job. Now that dpkg supports triggers, auctex should use that instead,
to run update-auctex-elisp on installation of LaTeX. This will keep
auctex up to date immediately rather than waiting until the weekly
cron job runs, and it will avoid running update-auctex-elisp when no
changes have occurred.

** Affects: auctex (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

You crash is due to mixing incompatible (kipi-plugin related ) binaries
from different repos, which has nothing to do with this issue.

[Bug 235613]

2013-02-27 Thread Jan-winehq
Problem keeps appearing.
I thought it had to do with an USB / serial converter I used on my Ubuntu 10.04
system.
Now, on a brand-new Ubuntu 12.04 system with a direct serial link, wine with
that version yields the same crash, but with a little different eip: 7bc7962a.

Lowering the baud rate makes everything slower. The crash appears later
in the program.

This must be a wine bug.

[Bug 1109251] Re: pidgin hangs on startup

2013-02-27 Thread Arthur Heffern
One more tidbit --

Pidgin hangs with the 3 above accounts configured after sleep and
resume. I have to kill pidgin and restart for it to re-connect.

[Bug 1135198] [NEW] Updates break proprietary AMD graphics drivers

2013-02-27 Thread tom
Public bug reported:

After running the updater and restarting my PC, the graphics dependant
GUI's on my system wouldn't load. Cinnamon wouldn't load right, nor
would unity. I had to drop down to ubunut 2-D. I have a Gigabyte Radeon
HD 6870 graphics card installed, running AMD Catalyst13.1 display
drivers. Below is the log of the update I ran before restarting my
computer.
