[Bug 1153329] Re: LPD network printer not recognized by the new gnome-control-center printer window

2013-03-10 Thread Doug Lomax
** Description changed:

  I'm using Ubuntu Raring.

  I have a printer shared with some computers over ethernet using a d-link
  printserver using a LPD protocol.

  To install it on my computer I go in gnome-control-center, then
  printers, and finally add new printer. It opens a window in which I
  should see it recognized my printer connected and it should be ready to
  install it, but the only thing I see in the window i the "no printers
  detected" message. I'm sure the printer is connected because older
  Ubuntu version (i.e. 12.04) can recognize and install it.

- So i tried running system-config-printer from the command line and I saw
+ So I tried running system-config-printer from the command line and I saw
  the old printers window, the one I usually see in Ubuntu 12.04. Clickng
  "add" from that window the printer is recognized and i can install it.
  So, for now I found a workaround, but I wonder how should a newbie do in
  order to install a LPD printer? If the printer section in gnome-control-
  center lacks some type of printer configuration/recoognization shouldn't
  be better to reintroduce the old ugly but functional printer window
  instead of this nice but not functional and confusing window?

This bug was fixed in the package libreoffice - 1:4.0.1-0ubuntu1

---
libreoffice (1:4.0.1-0ubuntu1) raring; urgency=low

  [ Bjoern Michaelsen ]
  * new upstream release
- fixes CRASH in action after Undo (LP: #785518)

  * add transitionals for -presenter-console and -binfilter
  * add sessioninstaller for remaining wizards (LP: #780399)
  * merge from debian at 1:4.0.1~rc1-2
  * remaining delta on debian/control:
- drop ${java-common-depends} from Recommends to Suggests on
  libreoffice-help-*
- add libreoffice-gnome | libreoffice-kde Recommends on libreoffice
- add libreoffice-style-human Suggests to libreoffice-common
- add libreoffice-common self Conflicts with << 3.5.0
- drop java-common-depends and java-runtime-depends from Recommends to
  Suggests on libreoffice-writer
- add libreoffice-pdfimport Recommends on libreoffice-draw
- drop libreoffice-core from Depends to Recommends on libreoffice-style-*
- add libreoffice-style-human
- add C/P/R against lo-menubar from libreoffice-gtk

- add libreoffice-subsequentcheckbase
- add libreoffice-presenter-console transitional
  * remaining delta on debian/patches:
- add Ubuntu brand palette
- add session-installer for Java Wizards
  * remaining delta on rules:
- fix configure switch for human theme
- use internal jfreereport because of huge component mismatch otherwise
- white progressbar instead of Debian Purple (or Ubuntu orange)
- adjust bug reporting destination for ppa builds
- disable tests on armel, armhf, powerpc
- enable parallel build and mergelibs
- disable evolution
- use internal liblangtag for now

- alternatively allow firefox-dev to xulrunner-dev as build-dep
- warn early on GVFS and GIO in same build

- fix missing closing para wrt slide remote
- move sessioninstaller from -gtk to -gnome for gio deps
- move subsequentcheckbase jars to package
- use --with-all-tarballs in addition to our flags for getting the source
  - this is so that ./configure doesnt stumble over other checks
(e.g. still needing gnomevfs)
  * removed delta:
- drop libreoffice-filter-mobiledev and ttf-sil-gentium-basic from Depends
  to Suggests on libreoffice
- remove libreoffice-core postinst
- fixed gnu make version
- remove hotfixes get-orig-sources hack
- some whitespace
  * silent some lintian noise for unversioned breaks:
- promote Breaks to Conflicts against -binfilter as it will never return
- promote Breaks to Conflicts from langpacks against en-US
- remove Breaks against -style-industrial which is long gone
  * libreoffice-core already conflicts with -evolution, so no need to break in
  addition
  * remove all traces of -so52
  * conflict help language packages in both ways

  [ Rico Tzschichholz ]
  * disable two more flaky tests for now:
- fdo#35663
- fdo#61896

libreoffice (1:4.0.1~rc1-2) experimental; urgency=low

  * debian/rules:
- add correct build-dep on cpp-4.7...

libreoffice (1:4.0.1~rc1-1) experimental; urgency=low

  * new upstream release candidate
- removes "Impress Remote" menu option unless in experimental mode.
  (closes: #700728)

  * debian/patches/debian-hardened-buildflags.diff: only set CPPFLAGS
here now

  * debian/rules:
- use /usr/share/dpkg/buildflags.mk for C(XX)FLAGS, LDFLAGS now that LO
  honours those from the env in configure. Remove manual passing to make.
- conditionalize pyuno build/install more so that we can build only
  python-uno on wheezy-backports. Bit obscure, but...
- explicitly use cpp-4.7 as cpp 4.8 would fail

libreoffice (1:4.0.0-1) experimental; urgency=low

  * new upstream release
- contains new driver for mozab (mork). Automatically enabled thus
  this closes: #321099
- now has a basic(!) gnumeric import in experimental mode
  (closes: #595708)
- fixes LibreOffice Calc unshows comments importing MS Office xlsx (LP:
#990868)
- supports IFERROR (closes: #662798)

  * debian/control.in:
- make -impress suggest bluez (for impress remote control)
- make libreoffice depend on / -common recommend python(3)-uno for the
  new python-based wizards
  * debian/rules:
- add new conditionals for new dependencies: liblangtag, liborcus,
  libmspub, (u)cpp; remove them for gone saxon, librsvg, db
- enable sdrmeote on all archs; b-d on libbluetooth-dev on where we
  enable

[Bug 934498] Re: Having no swap locks up laptop with IO

2013-03-10 Thread Tyler Hicks
Hello Vadim - Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.

eCryptfs is not what is used to encrypt your swap, so I'm marking this
bug as invalid.

If you have encrypted swap, dm-crypt is used to encrypt that partition
since eCryptfs is not able to do block-level encryption.

I've never seen my swap partition fail to mount, so I'm not sure what
could be happening there. Encrypted swap does certainly require more
processing power than unencrypted swap, but I've also not experienced
the grind-to-a-halt behaviour that you're experiencing.

There's really not enough information in this bug report for a developer
to act on this issue. If you can provide more information on your
hardware specs and potential ways to reproduce the issue, please file a
new bug report. Thanks!

[Bug 1132064] Re: ecryptfs-migrate-home does not work for Active Directory accounts (using likewise-open)

2013-03-10 Thread Tyler Hicks
Hello - thanks for the bug report.

I suppose that we could add a --nopwcheck option to ecryptfs-migrate-
home, but I'm curious about this line in your bug description:

> Adding this option to the script manually fixed the problem but I
can't get it to work consistently.

Do you have any idea why ecryptfs-migrate-home doesn't work consistently
after you manually add the --nopwcheck option to the call to ecryptfs-
setup-private? What happens when it fails?

[Bug 1086220] Re: pdf2swf missing from swftools 0.9.2 for ubuntu 12.10

2013-03-10 Thread Bryan Fullerton
The pdf2swf command is not supported because it relies on xpdf library
code, which has a history of security issues.

The Debian upstream package had entirely removed the swftools package
for a while, until it was repackaged to not include pdf2swf, which is
what we see now in Ubuntu.

Most likely it will remain this way unless/until the swftools folks
rewrite their software to use a different PDF library.

[Bug 1018561] Re: e1000e needs updating due to 82574L keeps dropping RX packets

I am using kernel 3.5.0-21, I just installed the latest driver from
Intel 2.2.14-NAPI and I have a SIGNIFICANTLY lower amount of dropped
packets. No more stutter while using SSH and more importantly my network
applications are not hanging. There is still something going on as I
don't believe I have ever had dropped packets across the local network
but I will investigate further.

[Bug 1118710] Re: Set video brightness to max if it is 0 on bootup.

2013-03-10 Thread Alex Hung
Upstream has different patches for the same problem, and quirks are used
as the following commits for 12.04:

lts-backport-quantal: b53729e72e31a7f8ecb5b025f5799f4f363dc757

As a result, it seems to add DMI to "video_dmi_table" and calls
video_ignore_initial_backlight (as in #2). Therefore, we will need to
find out which systems has the zero-brightness problem and add their DMI
one by one.

[Bug 1153421] [NEW] HP Envy 23 AIO - Various FWTS failures when testing

2013-03-10 Thread Jeff Lane
Public bug reported:

Certifying 12.04.2 on the HP Envy 23 AIO. During testing, the tests that
use fwts failed because FWTS reported several HIGH failures duing both
batch and suspend/hibernate testing.

The logs are attached showing the assorted errors (I believe they ones
for suspend and hibernate show essentially the same errors).

[Bug 1153188] Re: Urdu with better support: Default Fonts, Kbd Layout

2013-03-10 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Abdellah / Shabbir,

Thanks for your help to improve Ubuntu by reporting these issues!

The font configuration thing may well be a matter for the fontconfig
package, so I add a fontconfig task.

Keyboard layout settings are handled via the gnome-control-center
package. In System Settings -> Keyboard Layout (Ubuntu 12.10) I find
these Urdu options:

Urdu (alternative phonetic)
Urdu (Pakistan)
Urdu (Pakistan, CRULP)
Urdu (Pakistan, NLA)
Urdu (phonetic)
Urdu (WinKeys)

Do you say that none of those options is sufficient for writing Urdu
conveniently?

[Bug 1118710] Re: Set video brightness to max if it is 0 on bootup.

2013-03-10 Thread Alex Hung
@James,

ACPI video.c module has a new function (i.e.
video_ignore_initial_backlight) that will ignore BIOS initial zero
brightness; however, DMI information is needed for the quirk.

Can you please run "sudo dmidecode > dmi.log" and attach the output?
Let's see if we can add entries for the system(s).

  * Add a work-around for the blank pages in PDF bug (LP: #1095513).
  * Disable useless index in PDFs.
  * Fix broken font in russian PDFs (LP: #1121795):
- Add a build-dependency on cm-super-minimal.

[Bug 1107866] Re: Show window list when right clicking an icon in launcher - enables quick window switching

2013-03-10 Thread Tigran Gabrielyan
Regarding Nekhelesh Ramananthan (nik90)'s comment:

The list does grow large, and extends vertically off the screen, which
is an issue.

Here are two possible fixes:

Option 1: Figure out the maximum number of entries the quicklist can
support for the given resolution, and if we have more windows open than
we can fit, put the remaining windows into a menu item called "# more
windows" (replace # with the actual number of remaining windows) as the
last entry.

When we click on the last entry, we get Spread of *only* those remaining
windows.

Option 2: Scroll only the window list, if possible.

[Bug 1153364] Re: trouble with guest network connectivity when host is using a bonded interface

2013-03-10 Thread ben thielsen
some more information - while running a ping from another physical host,
against a guest, i did a bit of testing with tshark:

192.168.1.123 - other physical host on network
192.168.1.60 - virtual host
192.168.1.70 - virtual guest

on the virtual host, the current active slave is eth0, so i started
there:

>cat /proc/net/bonding/bond0
Ethernet Channel Bonding Driver: v3.7.1 (April 27, 2011)

Bonding Mode: adaptive load balancing
Primary Slave: None
Currently Active Slave: eth0
MII Status: up
MII Polling Interval (ms): 0
Up Delay (ms): 0
Down Delay (ms): 0

Slave Interface: eth0
MII Status: up
Speed: 100 Mbps
Duplex: full
Link Failure Count: 0
Permanent HW addr: 00:19:b9:ec:43:f1
Slave queue ID: 0

tshark appears to indicate that the ping requests are reaching the physical
interface on the virtual host:
>tshark -i eth0 'icmp[icmptype]==icmp-echo'
Capturing on eth0
  0.00 192.168.1.123 -> 192.168.1.70 ICMP 98 Echo (ping) request

  1.000273 192.168.1.123 -> 192.168.1.70 ICMP 98 Echo (ping) request
id=0xa494, seq=541/7426, ttl=64
  2.001328 192.168.1.123 -> 192.168.1.70 ICMP 98 Echo (ping) request
id=0xa494, seq=542/7682, ttl=64
  3.002381 192.168.1.123 -> 192.168.1.70 ICMP 98 Echo (ping) request
id=0xa494, seq=543/7938, ttl=64
^C4 packets captured

next, tshark appears to indicate that the ping requests are reaching the bond
interface:
>tshark -i bond0 'icmp[icmptype]==icmp-echo'
Capturing on bond0
  0.00 192.168.1.123 -> 192.168.1.70 ICMP 98 Echo (ping) request

id=0xa494, seq=797/7427, ttl=64
  2.001996 192.168.1.123 -> 192.168.1.70 ICMP 98 Echo (ping) request

  3.002751 192.168.1.123 -> 192.168.1.70 ICMP 98 Echo (ping) request
id=0xa494, seq=799/7939, ttl=64
^C4 packets captured

continuing on, tshark appears to indicate that the ping requests are reaching
the bridge interface:
>tshark -i br0 'icmp[icmptype]==icmp-echo'
Capturing on br0
  0.00 192.168.1.123 -> 192.168.1.70 ICMP 98 Echo (ping) request
id=0xa494, seq=665/39170, ttl=64
  1.001045 192.168.1.123 -> 192.168.1.70 ICMP 98 Echo (ping) request
id=0xa494, seq=666/39426, ttl=64
  2.001173 192.168.1.123 -> 192.168.1.70 ICMP 98 Echo (ping) request
id=0xa494, seq=667/39682, ttl=64
  3.002232 192.168.1.123 -> 192.168.1.70 ICMP 98 Echo (ping) request
id=0xa494, seq=668/39938, ttl=64
  4.003298 192.168.1.123 -> 192.168.1.70 ICMP 98 Echo (ping) request
id=0xa494, seq=669/40194, ttl=64
^C5 packets captured

while doing each of these captures, i was running a matching capture on
the guest, and did not see any of these packets. while i'm not quite
sure what [if any] the implication is, it would seem that somehow, the
packets are getting lost on their way to the guest, after they reach the
bridge interface.

[Bug 1086864] Re: Please , upgrade usbredirhost up to 0.5.2 in Ubuntu 13.04

2013-03-10 Thread Jeremy Bicha
usbredir 0.6 is in Ubuntu 13.04 and I believe you're tracking whether
qemu-kvm can depend on usbredir in bug 1126513.

** Changed in: qemu-kvm-spice (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Fix Released

[Bug 774644] Re: plymouth splash screen doesn't close with slim

2013-03-10 Thread Steve Langasek
This bug remains unfixed because the slim package in Ubuntu does not
have an upstart job, giving us no way to specify the handling of
plymouth in the presence of slim. Someone who cares about the slim
package in Ubuntu should address this first, then we can update the
plymouth package to match.

Or, users can continue to use the DM that's installed by default, which
has been made to integrate with plymouth.
