[Bug 1132234] Re: Firefox unresponsive for a few seconds if using the globalmenu extension

** Description changed:

- I'm using firefox 19 with the globalmenu extension. After selecting the
+ I'm using firefox with the globalmenu extension. After selecting the
firefox window, the first attempt to interact with the program (i.e.
open or close tab, select a tab, scroll down the webpage etc.) makes the
program unresponsive and the CPU runs at 100% for a few seconds.
Afterwards, the required action is performed and the program works fine
until the focus is moved to another window and back to the firefox

  firefox 19.0
firefox-globalmenu 19.0 (in the firefox add-ons page is described as Global
Menu Bar Integration 3.7.1)

[Bug 1080701] Re: After 'Preparing to install Ubuntu' screen, raring installation hangs

2013-04-21 Thread askuhn
I can confirm Dan Kegel's experience in comment #122 was the same as I
had on my machine. Mounting a partition I would not be using with
nautilus and answering no to the in the installer's prompt allowed me to
continue. This definitely needs to be a blocker for 13.04, in my
(admittedly novice) opinion.

[Bug 1159358] Re: USB Printer HDD external can't wake up after a moment of time

2013-04-21 Thread chris
I think the USB printer/HDD is in sleep because it doesn't react as
expected as I mentioned in bug description.

I've attached CurrentDmesg.txt (output from xdiagnose) while filing this bug.
That output provided when this bug occured.
Maybe you need more information ?

Thanks,
chris

South Africa */

I don't really know how it works + am n00b, just trying to be helpful...
Maybe Ubuntu needs a new libfreerdp-kbd?

[Bug 1170232] Re: won't show login screen

2013-04-21 Thread rhpot1991
I have this same issue on my Dell XPS 13 ultrabook with Intel HD 4000
graphics. I believe that the 3.8.0-19 kernel is causing the issue, if
I boot to a previously installed kernel everything works fine. Using
the 3.8.0-19 kernel I get nothing on the laptop screen, if I plug
something into the display port I will get a X session there. Using the
function key to switch between displays does not result in anything
being displayed on the laptop screen.

[Bug 1171281] [NEW] WiFi logout after about 5 minutes, sometimes allows re-entry

2013-04-21 Thread Adam
Public bug reported:

After connecting to a local wifi network, Ubuntu 13.04 (and 12.10) will
log out randomly. 2 out of 3 times I am able to turn of the wifi, then
turn it back on and connect. One third of the time it disconnects and
will not re-enter despite restarting, forgetting network, configuring
network, ect. This has occurred on multiple different wifi networks and
routers. I have a HP dv6 laptop with a Ralink corp. RT5390 Wireless
802.11n 1T/1R PCIe. I have been told that this doesn't occur with Wicd
Network Manager if that helps. Thanks, Adam.

background and hides the tabs. This won't allow the page to be shifted

[Bug 1171282] [NEW] Can't Apply Settings During Setup Weather wizard

2013-04-21 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
Public bug reported:

I'm unable to complete the Setup wizard for indicator-weather. At the
very end of the setup, clicking the Apply button does nothing; it does
not save my settings and it does not close the dialog, yet the dialog is
not locked up (I can hit the back or cancel buttons effectively, but I
cannot proceed past the apply button; it just remains highlighted and
the dialog doesn't go away unless click cancel).

This is a severe bug (especially for first-time-users who wouldn't
already have a configuration file generated by a prior version's
installation and setup).

Reproduce:
1) sudo apt-get install indicator-weather
2) start indicator-weather
3) Click indicator and then Setup Weather
4) Click location's tab
5) Click add button
6) search for 75845
7) Select Groveton, Texas from drop down
8) Make label Groveton, and click next button
9) Click Apply button

[Bug 1171285] [NEW] intel centrino Wireless-N 1000 firmware is wrong under LTS 12.04

2013-04-21 Thread Jacob_81
Public bug reported:

After a fresh installation, I can't drive my wireless card, Intel Centrino
Wireless-N 1000.
The problem is about the firmware used in LTS 12.04.

First I'm very sure that both my hardware switch and soft switch are on.
[code]
nico@jacob-pc:~$ rfkill list all
0: ideapad_wlan: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
1: ideapad_bluetooth: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
2: hci0: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
5: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
nico@jacob-pc:~$
[/code]

Then when running 'iwconfig' command, I got this
[code]
nico@jacob-pc:~$ iwconfig
eth0 no wireless extensions.
lono wireless extensions.
wlan0 IEEE 802.11bgn ESSID:off/any
  Mode:Managed Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=0 dBm
  Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
  Power Management:off
[/code]
This means the system can probe my card, but can't drive it.

Third, I used 'iwlist scan' command, 'ifup wlan0' command and 'dhclient wlan0'
command, there are the outputs:
[code]
nico@jacob-pc:~$ iwlist scan
eth0 Interface doesn't support scanning.
loInterface doesn't support scanning.
wlan0 Failed to read scan data : Network is down

nico@jacob-pc:~$ sudo ifup wlan0
[sudo] password for nico:
Ignoring unknown interface wlan0=wlan0.

nico@jacob-pc:~$ sudo dhclient wlan0
RTNETLINK answers: Input/output error
^C
[/code]
This means the system can't drive my card, there may be something wrong with
the firmware.

After a long time trying, I found a way to solve this problem at last.
Download a older firmware from
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi?action=AttachFiledo=gettarget=iwlwifi-1000-ucode-128.50.3.1.tgz
This firmware is only for kernel 2.6.30+, the original one is for 3.2+. LTS
12.04 use a latest one from that website,
that's the reason. So just delete or rename the original one which is named
iwlwifi-1000-5.ucode,
and put iwlwifi-1000-3.ucode from that tarball to /lib/firmware, and run
'modprobe -r iwlwifi',
'modprobe iwlwifi', everything will be wonderful.

[Bug 1093217] Re: Ubuntu 12.04/12.10/13.04 10-20min boot delay (From 3.2.0.29-3.8.0.19) [Lenovo IdeaPad Z580]

2013-04-21 Thread Jacob Cram
Things stopped working for me.
It turned out that I pasted that fix into the wrong section of grub.cfg and
actually the computer was just working by magic (or whatever makes it sometimes
start up right away). Anyhow after playing around with some settings
(installing and removing bumblebee and such to try to get google-earth working)
the magic seems to have worn off. Long start up times again. Also I put the
fix in the section of grub.cfg that I am acutally using
(just before /boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-40-generic... etc)
which has no positive effect.
I'll play around with some of the other approaches suggested on this thread and
report what works.

Tom. Thanks for the pointer, but I'm not seeing that option.
Right now I see at the top Phoenix SecureCore Tiano Setup
Below that some tabs, I have boot selected
By UEFI Boot I selected disables. Nothing on the page changed other than
that line.
Am I in the wrong place?

[Bug 1171283] Re: Chromium shifts up leaving desktop background gap on bottom and hiding tabs

2013-04-21 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1171283/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[Bug 1171242] Re: Computer randomly crashes or shuts down.

2013-04-21 Thread Adennris
The computer just crashed again (Slowed down significantly and then turned off
suddently by itself)
I tried to grab the output of sysrq+ T, L, P, Q, W:
It looks like the first one (Alt+Sysreq+T) got truncated though. The two files
attached should have the last part of T and the rest.
I hope it is useful.

In my case it did not help to re-install any openjdk-7-* packages.

Running ICEDTEAPLUGIN_DEBUG=true firefox 21 showed
...
/usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-amd64/jre/bin/java (Access Denied)
...

So it actually ended up with beeing appamor blocking access to java:

[Bug 1171048] Re: Segfault during Broadcom STA wireless driver install in Kubuntu live session

2013-04-21 Thread Martin Pitt
The jockey handler essentially does this when enabling the wl driver:

  rmmod b43
  rmmod b43legacy
  rmmod bcm43xx
  rmmod ssb
  modprobe wl

Then it iterates over /sys/module/wl/drivers/*, and for each actual
driver (like 1-1.5.4.2:1.0), echoes their name first into unbind and
second into bind, so that the kernel reloads the device for that
driver. This causes firmware to be loaded, and wl to work without a
reboot. According to the syslog, the driver oopsed on either unbinding
or rebinding. Perhaps you could do the steps manually on your machine in
the live session and record precisely what happens?

This unbinding/rebinding has worked fine for several cycles, so I guess
either the kernel or (more likely) the bcmwl package broke something
there recently. If there is a different way, or perhaps a different
order of these commands that work, we can certainly change the jockey
handler.

** Also affects: bcmwl (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

note: when the usb stick is plugged, a popup is displayed with open
with disk usage analyzer, without possible changes (when logged as
gnome-shell)

** Changed in: gparted (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete = New

** Description changed:

  Raring i386 + gnome3-team ppa , logged with gnome-shell

I've tried to format an usb key by right-clicking on the usb support
(mounted as sdc) inside nautilus, filled the required formatting
settings, but that stick is only unmounted without beeing formated.

For the second try, i start gparted from the dash, but get again an
other issue: gparted interface open and start scanning about devices
partitions, but cant find one. Then i start gparted from the terminal,
- the interface is again opened and the endless scanning goezs on. Inside
+ the interface is again opened and the endless scanning goes on. Inside
the terminal, i only get libparted 2.3 as a comment, nothing else.

So i suppose gparted need to be upgraded to work with gnome 3.8 , as
none of the several hdds partitions nor the usb stick are found.

note: raring's gparted is quite old: the latest stable is now 0.14.1-6 (since
a few months)
