[Bug 1189088] Re: Unity Dash, left mouse button starts preview instead of directly the application
Oh no, for files PLEASE don't force an extra step on users just to open a known file. Left clicking should ALWAYS open anything clicked, and right clicking should ALWAYS preview it. It would be terribly clumsy to have to wade through previews of files that are already well known to the user when he just wants to open the stinking file. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1189088 Title: Unity Dash, left mouse button starts preview instead of directly the application To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/1189088/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1219165] [NEW] libtool 2.4.2-1.2ubuntu1 produces packages that don't work on OSX where upstream 2.4.2 does not
Public bug reported: The following package was built using libtoolize from Ubuntu Raring's libtool package (2.4.2-1.2ubuntu1): http://capnproto.org/capnproto-c++-0.3.0-rc1.tar.gz The package builds three libraries: libkj, libcapnp, and libcapnpc. libcapnpc depends on libcapnp which depends on libkj. On Mac OSX, the link step for libcapnpc fails, claiming that symbols defined in libkj are undefined. I installed GNU's libtool 2.4.2 source package and rebuilt the package, creating: http://capnproto.org/capnproto-c++-0.3.0-rc2.tar.gz This version builds correctly on OSX. Apparently, Ubuntu's version has a patch which changes the way dependencies are handled. This may be in some part my fault. When I make this change to Makefile.am: - libcapnpc_la_LIBADD = $(PTHREAD_LIBS) libcapnp.la + libcapnpc_la_LIBADD = $(PTHREAD_LIBS) libcapnp.la libkj.la Then the problem goes away. I'm not sure if I was supposed to specify it that way, or if libtool is expected to link transitive dependencies automatically. However, it seems very suspicious that Ubuntu's version behaves differently from upstream in a way that breaks some uses. ** Affects: libtool (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1219165 Title: libtool 2.4.2-1.2ubuntu1 produces packages that don't work on OSX where upstream 2.4.2 does not To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libtool/+bug/1219165/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 989396] Re: Package keyboard-configuration post-installation script. Hang on /bin/setupcon --force --save for 10 min then killed
Well, I've been battling this for the past 8 hours. I'm trying to configure some virtual machines. My intention is to provision some real machines for use in an Ceph/OpenStack cluster. Since it'll probably take a few attempts, I want to automate as much as possible. As a test, I am doing the deployment with a stack of VMs running under libvirtd/kvm on Gentoo. The actual machines will be headless 99% of the time (the remaining 1% will be for maintenance), so I couldn't give two hoots what keyboard layout it picks — we may even be setting up a serial device server and using serial console in the real deployment. Sadly, I don't see a way to skip this. The set-up is a TFTP dishing out the netboot images and pxelinux configuration scripts. HTTP dishing out preseed files; one per host. I have tried with Ubuntu 13.10, 13.04 and 12.04, all AMD64 architecture. I have tried specifying the keyboard settings in the pre-seed file, and on the kernel command line, I've also tried leaving it out and answering on the console. No dice. Maybe one attempt in 20 works and I get a working installation, but most of the time, install hangs at the "Configuring keyboard-configuration" step. There seems to be no rhyme or reason why it suddenly works, then doesn't. The libvirt-manager CPU monitor seems to indicate activity consistent with a system that's waiting for input. But what? Where? How? It doesn't ask. It doesn't make it clear what it's wanting, or how I'm to provide it. It's not a matter of time either; I left VMs installing earlier this morning about 1AM … 6-7 hours later, I wake up, check on them, they're stuck at this very point. [Bug 969489] Re: lightdm tries (and fails) to start too early?
Ubuntu 13.04 Intel SSD i7 4770S Using the processor graphics with the default driver. I got the black screen with a white mouse cursor about a quarter the time on boot and finally discovered the machine wasn't broken/crappy by pressing CTRL-ALT-F1 to see if tty1 would work (previously I would just press reset when the black screen issue came up). I tried the sleep workaround here and have had good results so far (I used a 1 second delay): http://www.webupd8.org/2013/01/ubuntu-lightdm-black-screen-when-using.html Is there some way to detect the error state and present an error message to the user instead of the black screen?
