Can we really hard-code NID 0x1b here...?

alc_fixup_headset_mode_alc662 is currently only called from a pin fixup
quirk (via ALC662_FIXUP_DELL_MIC_NO_PRESENCE), and that pin quirk has
 headphone at 0x1b, so yes.

OK, then it'd be better to mention the assumption briefly in a
comment.

It would we better if we could make it more generic, but I think doing
this at HDA_FIXUP_PROBE instead would be too late (the boost control,
paths, etc, would already be created)...?

Right.

Do you have a better suggestion?

I think the current form is OK, but I wanted to make sure.

[Bug 1456881] Re: Some touchpads' right button doesn't work under I2C mode, need support of clickpads

2015-05-28 Thread Shih-Yuan Lee
We found under some extreme system usage that comment #2 can fix the
problem.

Run some application/operation (e.g: Play youtube on background, launch
libreoffice for awhile (about 5-10min) or insert USB to copy some files
: The touchpad cursor were no function after some operation, sometime it
scrolling automatically or keep send press signal.

Without the patch of comment #2, when the issue occurred we also check
the touchpad event on ttyl1 by evtest, we can found the event keeping
output without move cursor/click touchpad.

Our observation is the HiDPI platform may have more loading cause this
issue and sometimes its also cause xorg crash.

[Bug 1459580] [NEW] export button doesn't export routes

2015-05-28 Thread Max Waterman
Public bug reported:

I'm migrating from a laptop running 14.10 to another running 15.04.

0. On 14.10 machine
1. click network manager icon
2. click 'edit connections'
3. select VPN network and click 'Edit...'
4. select 'IPv4 Settings'
5. click 'Routes...'
6. add a route
7. click 'ok'
8. click 'Save...'
9. click 'Edit...' (again)
10. click 'Export...' and save the file somewhere
11. examine contents of file

ACTUAL: no routes specified
EXPECTED: routes specified

Predictably, when attempting to 'Import a save vpn configuration...' on
the 15.03 machine using the above file, no routes are configured.

Please consider exporting the entire configuration - configuring routes
is quite a laborious task.

[Bug 1340629] Re: indicator-applet-complete leaking memory

2015-05-28 Thread Joep Jansen
I use indicator-applet-complete with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and
gnome-session-fallback.
Memory usage of the applet had increased to 460 MiB. I killed and restarted the
applet, now it is using 8.8 MiB

[Bug 1448487] Re: Shimmer-theme Greybird does not get along with LXAppearance

2015-05-28 Thread Simon Steinbeiß
That depends. This isn't really a very critical bug, so I suppose the
fix might land in some PPA and in 15.10. Atm I don't think we'll
backport it to 15.04.

[Bug 1297849] Re: [SRU] Virtual private network connection fails after distribution upgrade due to outdated Network Manager configuration files

2015-05-28 Thread c2h5oh
Same problem with 15.04 x64 since upgrade from 14.10

I've tested all the workarounds mentioned in this thread and sadly no
dice.

If I edit the connection configuration files in
/etc/NetworkManager/system-connections and change password-flags to 0 + add:
[vpn-secrets]
password=my_password

and restart I am able to connect every single time, but the connection
doesn't work (can't reach any hosts)

[Bug 1454235] [PATCH] ALSA: hda - Disable Headphone Mic boost for ALC662

2015-05-28 Thread David Henningsson
When headphone mic boost is above zero, some 10 - 20 second delay
might occur before the headphone mic is operational.
Therefore disable the headphone mic boost control (recording gain is
sufficient even without it).

(Note: this patch is not about the headset mic, it's about the less
common mic-in only mode.)

[Bug 1457776] Re: virtualbox-dkms 4.3.10-dfsg-1ubuntu5: virtualbox kernel module failed to build

2015-05-28 Thread Kenneth Wrede
Running Trusty with original 3.13 kernel. Have been running Virtualbox a
long time without problems.

This crash appears after I have tried to install any other official LTS-
kernel, like Utopic or Vivid. The problem does NOT disappear by purging
those kernels+headers again.

I have tried dpkg-reconfigure virtualbox-dkms, and for virtualbox and
dkms alone as well. No result.

I guess this is somewhat related to, but not the same as bug #1457776.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virtualbox/+bug/1457776

As for today, I have a couple of error messages on every reboot.

[Bug 1459618] [NEW] Incorrect package checksums for trusty-updates since this morning

2015-05-28 Thread gcc
Public bug reported:

I am getting checksum mismatches on trusty-updates since this morning.
It seems that the files were changed:

$ wget -O- -o /dev/null
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/trusty-updates/main/binary-amd64/ | sed
-e 's/[^]*/ /g'
 Index of /ubuntu/dists/trusty-updates/main/binary-amd64
   NameLast modifiedSize
  Parent Directory nbsp;-
  Packages.bz2 28-May-2015 10:23513K
  Packages.gz 28-May-2015 10:23650K
  Release 28-May-2015 10:23104

These are the expected MD5 hashes:

$ wget -o /dev/null -O-
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/trusty-updates/Release | egrep
main/binary-amd64/Packages.'(gz|bz2)' | head -2
 2684076da64123b17dd4370f381444a1 665944 main/binary-amd64/Packages.gz
 db2bb58fc4545ae77d0ad0850d3d07d0 525354
main/binary-amd64/Packages.bz2

Packages.gz appears to be wrong:

$ wget -o /dev/null -O-
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/trusty-updates/main/binary-amd64/Packages.gz
 | md5sum
407e592770cac05d3e27e7ae4425f0aa -

But Packages.bz2 is correct:

$ wget -o /dev/null -O-
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/trusty-updates/main/binary-amd64/Packages.bz2
 | md5sum
db2bb58fc4545ae77d0ad0850d3d07d0 -

Users may not be noticing because most of them are using bz2
compression, but MAAS fails on maas-import-pxe-files.

The difference appears to be in the Phased-Update-Percentage values:

[Bug 1459600] [NEW] libxl guest fails to start due to incorrect emulator setting

2015-05-28 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Recent versions of libvirt are using the contents of the emulator option in the
devices section. For a while we were using qemu-dm which was correct when the
deprecated xm toolstack was in use. Since the option was not really used, there
was no need to change this and using the xl stack (through libxl) was
automatically picking up the right qemu path.
But now we have to be correct. Upstream assumes a Xen specific binary and path
which will at some point be provided through the pkg-config mechanism by
libxen-dev. This is not needed for Deabian/Ubuntu because we make use of the
qemu binary provided by the qemu package. So we only need to change two things
(and they are not upstream-able because they are special):

1. for new configs always use /usr/bin/qemu-system-i386
2. when loading old configs replace qemu-dm by the new path

[Bug 1348890] Re: Asus UX32LN: Brightness keys Fn+F5 and Fn+F6 don't generate evdev event

2015-05-28 Thread verion GmbH
This bug affects all current ASUS UX305FA models, tested with BIOS 206
and 207 and Kernel 3.19 and up to Kernel 4.0.4 from mainline. Kernel
parameters acpi_osi= or acpi_backlight=intel do not work at all,
acpi_osi only disables the WMI control (possibly another bug).

How are these ACPI events generated? If the BIOS does not supply the
event, maybe it must be enabled with some control sequence? (acpi_listen
mostly doesn't say anything if pressing Fn+F-keys.)

I saw that e.g. for newer hybrid touchpads, you need to initialize the
device with an ACPI command so that it will either work in PS2 or I2C
mode. Otherwise it will either be off or the mode is not what I
wanted. Maybe this works the same way here and we only have to enable
these key events?

[Bug 1459603] [NEW] libxl: Domain verification on edit fails with Extra element os in interleave

2015-05-28 Thread Stefan Bader
Public bug reported:

Error reporting for XML validation is hopeless. What causes this is the
fact that for HVM guests we have a loader element which is set to
hvmloader. But upstream wants this to be an absolute path to the
binary. To make things a bit more funny, the XML validation is only
enabled by default for edit, not create.

We need to replace hvmloader in the config by the full path, which is
a bit complicated because the binary is provided in a versioned
subdirectory. Since libvirt is only compiled against *one* version, we
always have to try replacing older paths by newer ones as well as
options without path by the current full path.

To help with this upstream libvirt started to set LIBXL_FIRMWARE_DIR
through dpk-config, but the current Xen (4.5) does not provide a
xenlight.pc file. So we need to ensure the value is set by other means
and then add code to change paths when post processing the configs.

** Affects: libvirt (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Medium

[Bug 1456597] Re: ubuntu-mate-settings 0.4.5 release [debdiff attached]

2015-05-28 Thread Martin Wimpress
The packages that have overlays do not have system configuration
capabilities. Previously I was putting the configs into /etc/skel but
some sponsors were uncomfortable with that, and reasonably so, so I made
the overlays. The overlays only work in a MATE sessions and will not
overwrite pre-existing configuration. This overlay approach was
previously approved by a sponsor. I am working withthe upstreams to add
system configuration to the applications.

Again the desktop files onlh affect the MATE session. Some are now
hidden in MATE because they are directly integrated or the
categorisation has been changed slightly to remove duplicate menu
entries or correct the placement in the System menus. Again, I working
with upstreams to change this where possible.

[Bug 1459591] [NEW] Keyboard stays US after french selection in Try mode

2015-05-28 Thread Kick In
Public bug reported:

Hi,

When starting the Vivid 15.04 livecd (on a usb key), I don't change
keymap at grub time, just let it boot, then it ask me if I want to
install or to try ubuntu. If I select Try ubuntu, after selecting
French, it still keep using US keymap. I need to change the Text Entry
Setting to get it work as expected.

I think it must be automatically switched to default country keymap.

If selecting install, the text entry remains EN-US, but ubiquity change
its own keymap, and the keyboard works as expected inside ubiquity after
keyboard selection.

If selecting french language at grub time and select 'try ubuntu',
keyboard is correctly setup.

[Bug 1451448] Re: bzr fails to build on vivid (release) and trusty (test-rebuild only)

2015-05-28 Thread Vincent Ladeuil
Sorry for the reply delay :-/

I've been able to reproduce on vivid.

These tests are racy (yet another occurrence of running a TCP server and
client in the same process (different threads)).

Out of the ~800 http tests, those two ones are the simplest: they
connect to an http server that always reply with a 'Bad status' message
and close the connection.

Running 'bzr selftest --parallel=fork -v -s bt.test_http.TestBadStatusServer'
repeatedly, I can:
- see the test pass,
- see the test fail as reported,
- see the test hang

Definitely a race :-/

This can be fixed in two ways:
- run the server in a separate process,
- identify the race more precisely and fix it.

The former requires some tedious work, the later requires some deep
investigation :-/

I've sent a patch to debian to disable these tests until they are
properly fixed. We don't lose significant coverage doing so (pqm will
still run them to gate lp:bzr).

[Bug 1456597] Re: ubuntu-mate-settings 0.4.5 release [debdiff attached]

2015-05-28 Thread Iain Lane
The overlaying approach is quite disturbing - we try to avoid packages
poking in users' directories. Why is it necessary - can you not prepend
a directory to XDG_CONFIG_DIRS and use a system location? Generally
things should be looking (or copying from) there.

What have you done with those desktop files? How do you plan on keeping
up to date with changes in the packages they come from?

[Bug 1455598] Re: connecting 2x 4k displays in ubuntu 15.04 with daisy chain displayport (MST)

2015-05-28 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
D, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your
crash report is manually attached. Please follow these instructions to have
apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the
automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal:
cd /var/crash sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade
sudo service apport start force_start=1

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your
/var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash
report and a window pops up asking you to report this, but then never opens a
new report, you would be affected by
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to
WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line:
sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf

and comment out the line:
'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

by changing it to:
# 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via:
ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently.

Please feel free to subscribe me to this new report.

Also, please do not attach your crash report manually to this report and
reopen it.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1455920] Re: settings from saved config files are not loaded correctly

2015-05-28 Thread Iain Lane
I'm marking as Incomplete so that sponsors don't look at this while
we're waiting for upstream reviews.

If we don't hear back in a couple of weeks (or so), please reset to
Confirmed/Triaged and someone can upload into Ubuntu.

Thanks for your fix! :)
