[Bug 1415880] Re: 14e4:4365 bcmwl-kernel source: fix for null pointer crash
Just a personal update. I've been using a manually patched version of the i386 driver for several months, but I only use up to 0014-null-pointer-crash.patch. I currently have the trusty 3.13.0.-63.103-lowlatency kernel on a dell 1558 and the BCM4315. I haven't seen another null pointer crash since I applied the patch, but have suffered random loss of wifi synchronisation, sometimes after a day or so, but other times every hour or even less. I didn't expect to see a difference, but I thought it was worth saying that I successfully applied the just-released wily package bcmwl-kernel- source_6.30.223.248+bdcom-0ubuntu4.1_i386.deb to my trusty system. The build was clean (logged "using CFG80211 API") and the driver loads without a problem. I haven't been using it long enough to say whether it is better, but it is definitely no worse! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1415880 Title: 14e4:4365 bcmwl-kernel source: fix for null pointer crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/dell-sputnik/+bug/1415880/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1480245] Re: package xserver-xorg-core-lts-vivid (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/xorg/modules/libglamoregl.so', which is also in package xserver-xorg-vide
I ran into this bug when upgrading the HWE stack from Trusty (for the X server) and Utopic (for the kernel) to Vivid (for both). What happened is that APT removed the packages xserver-xorg, xserver- xorg-core, xserver-xorg-input-*, xserver-xorg-video-* before moving on to install their Vivid counterparts, only somehow the following three packages were not removed, and therefore were left with broken dependencies, even though they were listed in the "will be REMOVED" section: xserver-xorg-video-all, xserver-xorg-video-ati, xserver-xorg- video-glamoregl. The persistence of xserver-xorg-video-glamoregl explains the error message. On my system the following three packages were also left with broken dependencies: xorg, libegl1-mesa-drivers, nvidia-340. I was also left without a working X server of course. I tried Andy's workaround but APT refused to run the first command (sudo apt-get remove xserver-xorg-video-glamoregl) because of the broken dependencies, and trying to remove all the broken packages (sudo apt-get remove xserver-xorg-video-glamoregl xserver-xorg-video-ati xserver-xorg- video-all xorg nvidia-340 etc) only led to more broken packages appearing and APT refusing to run the command. So I let APT fix everything: it reinstalled all that it had uninstalled in the first place (the Trusty X server): $ sudo apt-get -f install Then I could apply Andy's workaround: removing the offending package: S sudo apt-get remove xserver-xorg-video-glamoregl # this also removed xserver-xorg-video-ati and xserver-xorg-video-all and then re-running the HWE stack upgrade: $ sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-lts-vivid xserver-xorg-lts-vivid libwayland-egl1-mesa-lts-vivid # the other packages are installed as dependencies Thanks Andy! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1480245 Title: package xserver-xorg-core-lts-vivid (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/xorg/modules/libglamoregl.so', which is also in package xserver-xorg-video-glamoregl 0.6.0-0ubuntu4 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server-lts-vivid/+bug/1480245/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1445772] Re: Static ip configuration is not possible with touch gui
I guess this bug is not only related with indicator-network. but also with system-settings and more. I don't know. I missed it too when first connecting the device to home's WLAN. Since I usually don't turn on DHCP service, being unable to establish an static IP configuration was an inconvenience, only solved by activating DHCP (against my will) with an unique IP on the pool. I know that the great majority of WiFi networks use DHCP but taking it for granted from the connecting device is not always a right assumption since there are weird people like me who wants an all-static IP configuration for the network. Sure you can do it from terminal, but I think it's not a good user experience on such a basic topic. I've seen some designs (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Networking) that indicates that it will be possible at some point in future time. Nonetheless I feel this has to be prioritized somehow. ** Changed in: indicator-network (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1445772 Title: Static ip configuration is not possible with touch gui To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-network/+bug/1445772/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1494735] [NEW] LightPath Dignostics framework on PowerNV platform
Public bug reported: == Comment: #0 - VASANT HEGDE- 2015-09-11 05:56:57 == IBM x, i and p systems have Service indicators (LED) that help identify components (Guiding Light) and also to indicate a component in error (Light Path). Currently, Linux only has a couple of commands that cater to LightPath services, but not close to what is expected. The work involved is to deliver a LightPath framework that will help customer to identify a hardware component in error. commit 8a8d91817aec6b9ca7a289891f9e6f721100ec09 Author: Anshuman Khandual Date: Wed Aug 19 22:19:52 2015 +0530 powerpc/powernv: Add OPAL interfaces for accessing and modifying system LED states This patch registers the following two new OPAL interfaces calls for the platform LED subsystem. [Bug 1494692] Re: Total hang of the krillin with a graphics artifact
Unity 8 log available upon request but I don't see anything abnormal there until timestamp 1441965689 which maps to the time of the force reboot. ** Description changed: I've had total hangs with both OTA-5 and now OTA-6 on my krillin. This was the first time I had developer mode enabled when it happened. With total hang, I mean no interaction is possible besides turning screen on/off, and the hang does not go "by" ie it's not apport running. Auto- dimming is also still functional during the hang, as is brightening the screen when touched. However, I was not able to adb in in this state (I kept the screen on throughout until I was able to try adb): $ adb shell error: protocol fault (no status) $ adb devices - List of devices attached + List of devices attached JU012772 device $ adb shell error: closed The fault/closed statuses did take a minute or so to arrive, unlike when the device is locked when the "closed" is immediate. Hang happened at 12:48 (clock stalled at that point). Forced reboot at 13:01. No .crash files generated. The log files below were touched at 12:47 or later. I browsed through all of those and mostly nothing extraordinary was seen. Only two with timestamped logs showed any activity during the hang, but indeed they did show it was not total hang even though also adb was not working. Those without timestamps are hard to know when the messages were logged - before the hang, during the hang or after the reboot. --- 2194 Sep 11 12:48 application-legacy-webbrowser-app-.log.1.gz - 130 Sep 11 13:01 indicator-network.log.1.gz - 91 Sep 11 13:01 untrusted-helper-type-end-push-helper.log.1.gz - 117 Sep 11 13:01 application-failed.log.1.gz - 457 Sep 11 13:02 usensord.log.1.gz - 41 Sep 11 13:02 ofono-setup.log.1.gz + 130 Sep 11 13:01 indicator-network.log.1.gz + 91 Sep 11 13:01 untrusted-helper-type-end-push-helper.log.1.gz + 117 Sep 11 13:01 application-failed.log.1.gz + 457 Sep 11 13:02 usensord.log.1.gz + 41 Sep 11 13:02 ofono-setup.log.1.gz 1673 Sep 11 13:02 mediascanner-2.0.log.1.gz - 118 Sep 11 13:02 telephony-service-indicator.log.1.gz - 57 Sep 11 13:02 click-user-hooks.log.1.gz - 94 Sep 11 13:02 tone-generator.log.1.gz - 178 Sep 11 13:02 indicator-messages.log.1.gz - 228 Sep 11 13:02 pulseaudio-trust-stored.log.1.gz - 52 Sep 11 13:02 cameraservice-trust-stored.log.1.gz - 113 Sep 11 13:02 mtp-server.log.1.gz + 118 Sep 11 13:02 telephony-service-indicator.log.1.gz + 57 Sep 11 13:02 click-user-hooks.log.1.gz + 94 Sep 11 13:02 tone-generator.log.1.gz + 178 Sep 11 13:02 indicator-messages.log.1.gz + 228 Sep 11 13:02 pulseaudio-trust-stored.log.1.gz + 52 Sep 11 13:02 cameraservice-trust-stored.log.1.gz + 113 Sep 11 13:02 mtp-server.log.1.gz 7691 Sep 11 13:02 account-polld.log.1.gz - 272 Sep 11 13:02 ubuntu-location-service-trust-stored.log.1.gz + 272 Sep 11 13:02 ubuntu-location-service-trust-stored.log.1.gz 3916 Sep 11 13:02 ciborium.log.1.gz - 465 Sep 11 13:02 maliit-server.log.1.gz - 323 Sep 11 13:02 nuntium.log.1.gz - 935 Sep 11 13:02 media-hub.log.1.gz - 370 Sep 11 13:02 address-book-service.log.1.gz - 195 Sep 11 13:02 ubuntu-push-client.log.1.gz - 257 Sep 11 13:02 sync-monitor.log.1.gz - 624 Sep 11 13:03 unity8-dash.log.1.gz + 465 Sep 11 13:02 maliit-server.log.1.gz + 323 Sep 11 13:02 nuntium.log.1.gz + 935 Sep 11 13:02 media-hub.log.1.gz + 370 Sep 11 13:02 address-book-service.log.1.gz + 195 Sep 11 13:02 ubuntu-push-client.log.1.gz + 257 Sep 11 13:02 sync-monitor.log.1.gz + 624 Sep 11 13:03 unity8-dash.log.1.gz 2001 Sep 11 13:03 scope-registry.log.1.gz 3018 Sep 11 13:03 dbus.log.1.gz 8870 Sep 11 13:03 unity8.log.1.gz - 885 Sep 11 13:03 application-click-com.ubuntu.telegram_telegram_1.3.20.114.log.1.gz + 885 Sep 11 13:03 application-click-com.ubuntu.telegram_telegram_1.3.20.114.log.1.gz --- The attached image shows how the phone hanged during starting Telegram. [Bug 1494683] Re: Ubuntu 14.04.03 - Add PowerPC hook to Apport
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1494683/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. It's really just support for getting your development/test environment right. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1494716 Title: vivid+overlay : unity8 fails to load To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity8/+bug/1494716/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Is that on a latptop or desktop? If so, the cleanest way to run unity8 is to install unity8-desktop-session-mir and then select it the unity8-mir session from the lightdm greeter when logging in. ** Changed in: unity8 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1494716 Title: vivid+overlay : unity8 fails to load To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity8/+bug/1494716/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1188647] Re: Please change intel_pstate default to disable
@Phillip: Tell us more about what you trying to do and how you are doing it. I assert that the "control knobs" work fine, however, I only use primitives to control it and never any higher level tool. For example, I would limit the maximum CPU frequency to 0.75 of maximum with: echo "75" | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/max_perf_pct (If I was in performance mode and not powersave mode, then I would set the min_perf_pct to 75 also, but I myself I wouldn't be in performance mode for this situation.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1188647 Title: Please change intel_pstate default to disable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1188647/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1489154] Re: NetworkManager does not start / fails to start
No, -proposed should never be enabled on a development release. We actively discourage it (it is still *possible*, but it's not done by default, and we strongly recommend people *not* to do that), because it's not abnormal for things to be broken for a period of time in -proposed during the development release. Things get updated from Debian, and stay stuck in proposed for a while because they don't build completely, cause other packages to be uninstallable, etc. Once these issues are fixed, we let them through to -release. Currently, wily is not yet released (won't be until October), so having proposed enabled can indeed break your system pretty badly -- if documentation says to enable it on a version of ubuntu in development, it's quite probably wrong and should be fixed. This is very different from *stable* releases -- at this time, anything from Vivid and earlier. In that case, it's fine to install packages from -proposed if you want to test a fix to a bug that we're preparing an update for. apt-get upgrade should always get you a properly upgraded system, but when -proposed is added to the mix, this can break since the packages there are "in testing", being prepared for an "official" update. Things *might* be broken. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1489154 Title: NetworkManager does not start / fails to start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/1489154/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1467267] Re: Please sync to 1.0.6 from Debian (main)
I'm acknowledging that this would be good to have, but it's getting increasingly late to go through the process for a full update of NetworkManager -- wily is in freeze, we've already just done one (and it has taken 10 times the time I thought it would). This should be a priority for wily+1, but it probably won't be *my* priority, there's a ton of other things on my list these days. If someone wants to prepare the update and provide a debdiff here, I'll be happy to sponsor it, but it's something that *does* require a substancial amount of testing even before thinking of uploading (I usually test a few different wifi setups, ethernet, VPNs, etc. -- see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/NetworkManager/DistroTesting/ for an idea of it). In the meantime, feel free to file bugs for every single issue you find with NM, crashes, etc. We can easily fix them and cherry-pick bug fixes from the upstream git. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1467267 Title: Please sync to 1.0.6 from Debian (main) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1467267/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1494715] Re: lt_LT should use the Euro
The upstream bug about lv_LV switching to the Euro is interesting: https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=16374. The situation with lt_LT is very similar, only we got the Euro one year later. Same legacy 8-bit charset (ISO-8859-13 has no Euro), but everyone uses UTF-8 now, right? Anyway, the upstream bug for lv_LV is still unresolved, despite a long discussion that seemed to end with a consensus and a posted patch. I'll file a bug for lt_LT. ** Bug watch added: Sourceware.org Bugzilla #16374 http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=16374 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1494715 Title: lt_LT should use the Euro To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/langpack-locales/+bug/1494715/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
