[Bug 1579135] Re: kernel BUG on snap disconnect from within a snap

2016-05-06 Thread Paul Larson
@Jamie: simply building that snap and installing it, and even
connecting/disconnecting the slots doesn't seem to reproduce the problem
easily. The easiest way I can come up with for reproducing it is to use the
snap that I'm using [attached]. To run into the problem I see, install this
snap, and run:
snappy-tests -check.f homeInterfaceSuite

[Bug 1577313] Re: Drag and drop not working from Qt to some applications

2016-05-06 Thread Vitaliy Gorbunov
I can confirm that bug is fixed for chromium and emacs. Also I tested drag and
drop in general with other applications and didn't find any issue.
Thanks again to Timo and all involved for such quick response to my request.

FYI: Bug seems to be not completely fixed on qt side, because it still
doesn't work for skype. But I will report it to Qt tracker.

[Bug 1565882] Re: ext3 is not supported in the tablet

2016-05-06 Thread Paul Sonnenschein
Today it is possible to mount the SD card via the mount command.
However, afaik to do so automatically one must manually change the root
fs, which is discouraged.

I personally mount my SD card with ext4 fs using an edited /etc/rc.local
and have not experienced any problems yet. However, I might not have
realized them or they might appear with an touch update.

And not all apps support this manually mounted location, however I could
convince the gallery app to show pictures using a symbolic link.

So to me the best solution seems to hope for a change in ciborium.

[Bug 1579216] [NEW] why was crystalhd-dkms package removed?

2016-05-06 Thread Dan Lenski
Public bug reported:

The crystalhd-dkms package was removed from the source package back in
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-
branches/ubuntu/wily/crystalhd/wily/revision/7

> * Remove dkms package which contained buggy driver.
> Driver already existed in mainline kernel. Any issues with the driver
> should be directed to the kernel package.
> (Closes: #682252)
> (Closes: #699470)

The crystalhd module has *not* been included in the mainline kernel for
about 2 years, since it was removed from staging in v3.17
(http://lkml.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/1408.0/01475.html).

In fact, it appears that the version that used to exist in the mainline
kernel was much older and basically abandoned. It only supported the
BCM70012 chip, not the more featureful and useful BCM70015:
https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/staging.git/tree/drivers/staging/crystalhd?h=v3.16

The CrystalHD hardware is still useful and functional with recent
kernels. I have an old Atom-based mini-PC which still plays HD video
nicely thanks to the BCM crystalhd decoder card.

Over at Github, we've updated the driver source to build correctly under
more recent kernels. https://github.com/dbason/crystalhd

I'm currently using
https://github.com/dbason/crystalhd/tree/82f4477b579b88fc9168b23c6c259598b3678fce
with xenial/16.04 and the 4.4.0-21 kernel.

--

It would be great to release updated crystalhd-dkms packages to make
this still-useful hardware more accessible to other Ubuntu users. I am
not very clear on the packaging conventions that I would need to follow
in order to update the current package.

Hi Joseph,

Yes, thank you. I just tested with a Dell USB Type-C ethernet adapter (PN#
96NP5). In the existing latest Xenial kernel hotplug did not work. Device
wasn't present in lsusb.
After installing that kernel i'm able to hotplug and device is present in
lsusb.

Thanks,

[Bug 1579214] [NEW] lightdm-webkit-greeter package themes reference missing icon files

2016-05-06 Thread filker0
Public bug reported:

The package "lightdm-webkit-greeter" installs two themes, "default" and
"webkit", that both contain the following line of JavaScript:

image =
'file:///usr/share/icons/gnome/32x32/stock/generic/stock_person.png'

The directory "/usr/share/icons/gnome/32x32/stock" does not exist. The
result is that the greeter screen does not display properly.

This is likely either a missing dependency or out-of-date theme files in
the package.

This was found on a newly installed amd64 Ubuntu 16.04 system (installed
today). I installed the package via synaptic.

[Bug 1579208] [NEW] Grub shouldn't require a keyboard to boot headless server

2016-05-06 Thread TenLeftFingers
Public bug reported:

Currently on 14.04 and I've been effected by this issue just now:
http://serverfault.com/questions/243343/headless-ubuntu-server-machine-sometimes-stuck-at-grub-menu?newreg=053b819f155745568d88e6fb42f45671

I've experienced this across the releases as far back as I can remember
but it meant I couldn't access my server until I had physical access to
it.

I installed from a standard desktop image, not the server specific one
as this machine evolved from an Ubuntu production machine to an Ubuntu
file server since 2006.

It's reasonable to expect to be able to administer a machine remotely
and I think this issue should be high or critical.

[Bug 1579204] [NEW] Auto Hide Launcher Doesn't Work

2016-05-06 Thread km
Public bug reported:

I running Ubuntu 16.04 in VirtualBox 5.0.20. With auto hide launcher enabled
the launcher
does not reappear no matter how I manipulate the mouse. Alt-F1 does bring the
launcher up.

This used to work on the same host with Ubuntu 15.10 running in VirtualBox. I
didn't do
an upgrade from 15.10, just a new install.

I see lots of bug reports to much older versions of Ubuntu, but don't know that
they
are relevant.

I'd request an increase in CONFIG_NR_CPUS to 512. This would match
Debian's default setting. For comparison, RHEL/CentOS ship with 4096.

Yes the commit is in the 4.4 based Ubuntu kernel. This bug also happens
with the vanilla 4.6-rc5 kernel, which also has that commit.

Hi Owen, you might want to take a look over on Github where I and others
have modified the source package to build without errors for recent
kernels. I'm using it on kernel 4.4.0 under Ubuntu Xenial current:

[Bug 1578547] Re: undefined variable in MiniTest::Unit::Runner::Worker (unit.rb:328)

2016-05-06 Thread jbatista
I propose to close this bug, since I cannot reproduce the original
problem.

First of all, the file is part of the ruby-core package: http://svn
.ruby-lang.org/repos/ruby/branches/ruby_1_9_3/lib/test/unit.rb That's
the file for which the package is mentioned.

Secondly, to upstream I mentioned MiniTest::Unit::Runner::Worker
(because of the output from the project-tested Rakefile compiled in
Lubuntu) and indeed they mentioned an external package (MiniTest). This
confusion is my fault (the affected file unit.rb seems to be from ruby-
core and not from minitest). Bah! sorry for the mess.

Anyway, today I checked out the test project mentioned at comment #1,
undid the change to /usr/lib/ruby/1.9.1/test/unit.rb and ran rake. The
rake execution executed as expected this time (did not end prematurely
with error). So I cannot reproduce the original problem with my current
installation, nor (for the time being) I have the means to test with a
fresh install to track down the possible origin.

[Bug 1578833] Re: pollinate should not run in containers and only for first boot

2016-05-06 Thread Martin Pitt
Hello Martin, or anyone else affected,

Accepted pollinate into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pollinate/4.18-0ubuntu1~16.04 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1563155] Re: No Application Data Found

2016-05-06 Thread Matthias Klumpp
So, this issue was basically misconfiguration and interference of bad AppStream
metadata...
I need to think about this a bit more, maybe I can come up with something to
fix these issues automatically...
(Although reliably removing cruft metadata will be difficult - ideally, that
data shouldn't have been introduced)

[Bug 1575152] Re: [SRU] gstreamer 1.8.1

2016-05-06 Thread Martin Pitt
Hello Iain, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gst-plugins-bad1.0 into xenial-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gst-
plugins-bad1.0/1.8.1-1ubuntu0.1 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Thank you in
advance!

** Changed in: gst-plugins-bad1.0 (Ubuntu Xenial)
   Status: New => Fix Committed

** Changed in: gst-plugins-ugly1.0 (Ubuntu Xenial)
