[Bug 1582364] Re: Failure to reset devices.list on LXC privileged containers on Xenial

2016-05-16 Thread Serge Hallyn
I'm going to mark this invalid as I believe it's a non-issue. We may
want lxc and systemd to cooperate more to maximize the protection of
containerized services, though.

[Bug 1582320] Re: Problem detected upon boot/login

2016-05-16 Thread Steve Langasek
What I can see in the logs is this request for packages from the
ubiquity installer:

Start-Date: 2016-05-16 09:28:12
Requested-By: ubuntu (999)
Install: intel-microcode:amd64 (3.20151106.1), iucode-tool:amd64 (1.5.1-1,
automatic)
End-Date: 2016-05-16 09:28:19

Followed 5 seconds later by a request to install EFI grub:

Start-Date: 2016-05-16 09:28:24
Commandline: apt-get --no-upgrade -o
Acquire::gpgv::Options::=--ignore-time-conflict -y install grub-efi-amd64-signed
Install: grub-efi-amd64-bin:amd64 (2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3, automatic),
grub-efi-amd64:amd64 (2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3, automatic),
grub-efi-amd64-signed:amd64 (1.66+2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3)
Error: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
End-Date: 2016-05-16 09:28:26

It seems this must be an installer bug. Mathieu, can you please look at
what is trying to install grub-efi on non-EFI systems and why?

[Bug 1582320] Re: Problem detected upon boot/login

2016-05-16 Thread Steve Langasek
Sorry, when you say "upgrade or reinstall", what do you mean? You mean
you saw this error on an upgrade, and also again after reinstalling the
system?

The error message shows that you are installing the shim-signed package
on a system that is not booted in EFI mode. We should fix this to not
return an error (but such a fix is dependent on first fixing bug
#1366546). But why is shim-signed being installed on your system, if
the system is not booted in efi mode? Have you somehow requested this
package?

The dpkg logs attached to your bug report are not particularly
illuminating.

Oh, I should mention that I am simply try go connect to a wifi network

vpn (of any kind). So, I suspect this is a generic file picker issue
rather than something to do with openvpn.

I am seeing this on 16.04 too, though for me it show no files at all and

The workaround as described here :

is to use the generic file browser (nautilus) to locate the file and
drop/drop it into the VPN configuration file selector.

[Bug 1582312] Re: Sign-in dialog uses out-of-date button colors

2016-05-16 Thread Rodney Dawes
The colors in the U1 sign-in UI were provided by design, and are the U1
branding (which is different from Ubuntu).

I don't recall who all were involved in the U1 branding discussions, or
if they are all still at Canonical, but we should perhaps have a more
involved discussion if we wish to change anything related to U1
branding. The UI on the phone is meant to match the UI of the web site
as close as possible, and follow the branding and colors for U1. I admit
that maybe some things are perhaps a little outdated and could use a
little upkeep here, but the current colors used here are directives from
design.

[Bug 1582364] Re: Failure to reset devices.list on LXC privileged containers on Xenial

2016-05-16 Thread Serge Hallyn
On plain xenial, containers which I start as root get:

sudo lxc-info -H -p -n u1
18144
ubuntu@privlxc:~$ cat /proc/18144/cgroup
11:perf_event:/lxc/u1
10:devices:/lxc/u1/init.scope
9:hugetlb:/lxc/u1
8:memory:/lxc/u1
7:blkio:/lxc/u1
6:net_cls,net_prio:/lxc/u1
5:freezer:/lxc/u1
4:cpu,cpuacct:/lxc/u1
3:pids:/lxc/u1/init.scope
2:cpuset:/lxc/u1

which is how it should be, as root is able to create cgroups for the
container for all controllers. So the question is why that's not
happening for you.

[Bug 1533480] Re: banshee stops respondiing during media import

2016-05-16 Thread jimm
Disabling the podcast plugin got me past the 'Import Media' file browser
dialog, but then from the main window, Banshee was just "Scanning for
media" indefinitely. Tried importing by files, folders, and m3u.
Disabling all the extensions finally allowed me to import.

[Bug 1582371] [NEW] Update required (7.0.5 -> 7.4.0)

2016-05-16 Thread StoatWblr
Public bug reported:

The upstream version is 7.4.0 and was released in January 2016

7.0.5 - (The version currently packaged in Xenial) is almost 2 years old.
7.4.0 contains a lot of bugfixes and enhancements.

In addition:

Adding Baculum to Xenial would be nice - this is a web control panel for bacula.
http://blog.bacula.org/baculum-overview/

And the bacula-tray-monitor is missing from the packages...

[Bug 1582360] Re: crashes all the time in xenial

2016-05-16 Thread Dustin Kirkland 
** Description changed:

Hollywood always crashes (eventually) in 16.04, because the splits
change sizes, and eventually, one of them will fail to run in a split.
And when any one exits, all of hollywood exits. This is completely
fixed in the latest upstream release 1.8, which is already in Yakkety.
It should be SRU'd back to Xenial.
+
+ == SRU ==
+
+ [IMPACT]
+ Hollywood crashes a lot in Xenial, mainly from moving the splits around.
Eventually, one won't be able to fit, and will close everything.
+
+ [TEST CASE]
+ Run 'hollywood' a couple of times on 16.04, and notice that it only runs for
a few seconds. Upgrade to the new version, and try again, and it should stay
open pretty much indefinitely.
+
+ [REGRESSION POTENTIAL]
+ This package is completely and totally extraneous. Regressions are
negligible.

[Bug 1581761] Re: Kernel panic - not syncing - Attempted to kill init

2016-05-16 Thread Darek
No prior kernel version boots. Yes, I can mount disks via LiveCD.

I tested the lates kernel from here http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v4.6-yakkety. It don't solve my problem. I attached new
photo with the stacktrace from that kernel.

I think that kernels are ok as I didn't had such issues in the past.
Maybe my OS has broke in some place? In the stacktrace there's line
stating that ubuntu-root is not existing. It does exist. I am able to
mount it via liveCd. So maybe it's some timing issue? Maybe LVM won't
initialize so fast as script would like to? In general I was updating
ubuntu once or two per month so in general I was using every kernel
ubuntu has released (I use 14.04 lts). I don't have feeling that this
happened right after update.

I do suspend my computer (to ram) on daily basis from many years but
this rather could not broke my OS(?).

[Bug 1554806] Re: Change of behavior: "dpkg-reconfigure -f noninteractive" unconditionally overwrites /etc/timezone now

2016-05-16 Thread Michael Shadle
Looks like for the time being this is the best:

# change this based on desired locale
ln -fs /usr/share/zoneinfo/US/Pacific-New /etc/localtime
dpkg-reconfigure -f noninteractive tzdata

ignore /etc/timezone, that seems to be properly reflected after the
dpkg-reconfigure...

[Bug 1573062] Re: memory_stress_ng failing for IBM Power S812LC(TN71-BP012) for 16.04

2016-05-16 Thread Joseph Salisbury
I started a "Reverse" kernel bisect between v4.5 final and v4.6-rc1. The
kernel bisect will require testing of about 10-12 test kernels.

I built the first test kernel, up to the following commit:

The test kernel can be downloaded from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1573062

Can you test that kernel and report back if it has the bug or not? I
will build the next test kernel based on your test results.

In parallel to the bisect, I'll review the git logs to see if the fix
sticks out. There are 166 powerpc commits between these two versions,
so a bisect may be the only way to identify the exact commit.

Thanks in advance

[Bug 1581835] Re: Native Look and Feel for Swing does not work

2016-05-16 Thread Yanpas
Thanks for an answer!

I've got the principle of work. You've marked my bug as invalid - Is it
possible to see gtk laf on non-gnome DEs by default ? (I guess this
question should be adressed to openjdk developers). When will ubuntu
packages of openjdk be shiped with gtk laf by default? (which bugs
should I follow to track the status). And what will be the rules when
the bugs will be fixed? I imagine like this:

On Gnome DE (Gnome and Unity7): default LAF is gtk, using
UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName()) will
make LAF "GTK"

On non-gnome DE (Xfce e. g.): default LAF is gtk, using
UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName()) will
make LAF "SilverBlue".

The last one seems to be controversial. Avoiding of usage setLookAndFeel
will cause my app to look SilverBlue on Win/OSX and Native on Linux :)

I am able to rewrite my code, but there are apps like Yed, Logisim which
use setLookAndFeel, they look native everywhere except Ubuntu :(

[Bug 1558252] Re: Intel 8260 / iwlwifi Occasionally unusuable after restart

2016-05-16 Thread fichtenelch
I'm also seeing the same problems running Ubuntu 16.04 on an Intel
NUC6i5SYK. I installed Ubuntu a couple of days ago starting with kernel
4.4.0-21-generic, here the wifi worked most of the time. Updating to
kernel 4.4.0-22-generic made this problem even worse. Now wifi doesn't
work at all, even after several reboots. Booting with the previous
kernel makes it work again...

[Bug 1581559] Re: Some apps don't start (guitar tools, tuner beta)

2016-05-16 Thread Daniel d'Andrada
This differs from bug 1578665 because here the application surface is
not even created before the prompt comes up (actually, it's not created
until the prompt is dismissed).

In bug 1578665 the application gets to create its surface but doesn't
draw on it until the prompt is dismissed.

[Bug 1582075] Re: GPU HANG: ecode 6:0:0x85eefffc

2016-05-16 Thread Haggai Eran
The issue started after upgrading from 14.04 to 16.04. Previously I
believe I used 01.org drivers on top of the 14.04 kernel, and I don't
remember if it worked out of the box or not.

I'll try the mainline kernel.

[Bug 1575334] Re: Docking thinkpad laptop causes a complete system freeze

2016-05-16 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Are you able to boot either of those kernels if you bypass the GUI?
This can be done by removing "quiet splash" from the /etc/default/grub
file, then running sudo update-grub.

You'll still get prompted for the decryption password, but it will be a
non-graphical prompt.

[Bug 1512792] Re: Pip crashes with cryptography/cffi/openssl error

2016-05-16 Thread Barry Warsaw
I'm still unable to reproduce this. Can someone please take me through
exactly the steps you're using that trigger this bug? Please include a
list of your installed packages, or take me through the steps from a
live build or clean install of 16.04. If you're *not* using amd64,
please let me know.

Clearly there's something going on, likely some kind of bad package
interaction, but I can't reproduce it locally.

[Bug 1582342] [NEW] nm-applet display doesn't correspond to connection status

2016-05-16 Thread macho
Public bug reported:

nm-applet displays the wrong icon and shows no wireless networks post-
xenial upgrade, although the network manager does continue to auto-
connect to wifi. At first, it showed the greyed-out wifi icon, though it
was connected, and now it's showing the wired connection icon despite
only being connected through wifi (see the attached file).

This is with the amd64 network-manager-gnome version
1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04

Thanks for your help!

[Bug 1582340] Re: Sync drupal7 7.43-3 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2016-05-16 Thread Nish Aravamudan
** Description changed:

+ Drupal7 in 16.04 has been left as broken while we wait on upstream
+ Drupal7 to gain PHP7.0 compatibility. This has been achieved in Debian's
+ current version, which we should be able to sync as we have no delta
+ currently.
+
+ [Impact]
+
+ * drupal7 is currently uninstallable in 16.04.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ * There is no test case for this issue, other than attempting to
+ install drupal7 itself, which will currently fail due to php5
+ dependencies.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * As drupal7 is currently uninstallable, there is no possibility of
+ regression in 16.04 itself.
+
+ [Other Info]
+
+ * To reiterate, the plan for drupal7 in 16.04 was to wait for PHP7
compatibility to be available and to SRU in the corresponding version.
+
Please sync drupal7 7.43-3 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

[Bug 1582309] Re: Example e-mail address is pointless

2016-05-16 Thread Rodney Dawes
This is only about the e-mail address, but there are other fields with
placeholder text. Should those also have their placeholder text removed?
Note that the secondary "confirm your password" entry box does not have
a separate label. We also use placeholders in the pay-ui design, without
associated labels for entries. Should this bug affect pay-service as
well with us changing the UI there to match what we do here?

E-mail address:
placeholderText: i18n.dtr(rootFlickable.domain, "example:
u...@ubuntu.com")

2FA code:
placeholderText: i18n.dtr(rootFlickable.domain, "2-factor device code")

Name:
placeholderText: i18n.dtr(rootFlickable.domain, "First and last name")

Password selection on new account registration page:
placeholderText: i18n.dtr(rootFlickable.domain, "At least 8 characters")
placeholderText: i18n.dtr(rootFlickable.domain, "Must match the
previous field")

that is accepted, we can sync php7.0 in Yakkety. At that point, I will
backport the fix for gettext as mentioned here and will file an SRU bug.

[Bug 1582340] [NEW] [SRU] Sync drupal7 7.43-3 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2016-05-16 Thread Nish Aravamudan
Public bug reported:

Drupal7 in 16.04 has been left as broken while we wait on upstream
Drupal7 to gain PHP7.0 compatibility. This has been achieved in Debian's
current version, which we should be able to sync as we have no delta
currently.

[Impact]

 * drupal7 is currently uninstallable in 16.04.

[Test Case]

 * There is no test case for this issue, other than attempting to
install drupal7 itself, which will currently fail due to php5
dependencies.

[Regression Potential]

 * As drupal7 is currently uninstallable, there is no possibility of
regression in 16.04 itself.

[Other Info]

 * To reiterate, the plan for drupal7 in 16.04 was to wait for PHP7
compatibility to be available and to SRU in the corresponding version.

Please sync drupal7 7.43-3 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Changelog entries since current xenial version 7.41-1:

drupal7 (7.43-3) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Moved the farbstatic sources from debian/missing-sources
todebian/missing-sources/misc, to keep lintian happy
  * The right name for one of our conditional dependencies is no longer
php-sqlite, but php-sqlite3. Thanks to Nish Aravamudan for pointing
this out!

drupal7 (7.43-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Update dependencies to use PHP 7 instead of 5 (Closes: #821482)
  * Updated debian/watch to work reliably
  * Standards-version 3.9.6.0→3.9.8 (no changes needed)

drupal7 (7.43-1) unstable; urgency=high

  * New upstream version
  * Fixes several security vulnerabilities (SA-CORE-2016-001): File
upload access bypass and DoS, brute force amplification attack via
XML-RPC, open redirect via path manipulation, reflected file
download, wrong modes set on some user accounts setting saves,
information disclosure of email addresses
  * Several non-security bugfixes from 7.42 included
  * Fix typo in README.Debian
  * Add several needed lintian overrides
