[Bug 1603008] Re: Lockup using nvidia proprietary driver, HP Pavillion Gaming 15-ak008TX

2016-07-18 Thread Stuart Bishop
The system is running fine without the Nvidia proprietary drivers
installed.

I'll try to get the bios updated shortly (no windows partition or
factory installed hp_tools makes this tricky)

[Bug 1551122] Re: Crash on screen power save

2016-07-18 Thread Timo Jyrinki
@Shawn: http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-
kde/qt/qtbase.git/tree/debian/patches?h=ubuntu is currently about Qt
5.5. It has most of the xcb screen related patches backported one way or
another (sometimes a bit tricky) from 5.6, but as mentioned here and
elsewhere on the net also 5.6 users suffer from related problems.

Qt 5.6.1 is planned to be landed to Ubuntu 16.10, but 16.04 LTS and the
bulk of the desktop users will remain on Qt 5.5 so any additional 5.5
patches will be welcome in the future too.

[Bug 1573470] Re: BQ M10 tablet. Libreoffice Impress presentation mode displays wrong colors

2016-07-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Good news! Maybe...

In comment #13 I said "We can't immediately make Mesa use Android's
preferred XBGR format."

Turns out though that the imminent new Mesa 12 release adds the missing
GBM_FORMAT_XBGR that Android prefers:

https://cgit.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/tree/src/gbm/backends/dri/gbm_dri.c?h=12.0#n542

It only appears in the Mesa 12 source code and not Mesa 11 (except by
accident of our own making where the colours will appear backwards ->
bug 1473901).

So it would appear that Mesa accepting the unsupported pixel format was
a Mir bug 1473901. But that shouldn't matter starting in Mesa 12.x
because upstream Mesa *seems* to support little endian
GBM_FORMAT_XBGR properly (which to Android is the same thing as big
endian HAL_PIXEL_FORMAT_RGBX_).

Assuming it works and is not a mistake, Mesa 12.x will finally speak the
same pixel format as Android, which might solve this bug.

[Bug 1506704] Re: Thin font, nautilus doesn't integrate with Unity.

2016-07-18 Thread Merlijn Sebrechts
I have the same issues as Wiktor explained in commend #2. Fonts look
exactly like the screenshot.

As Wiktor said, the problem is possibly related to bad hardware messing
up the boot sequence. Everytime I have this problem, something display-
related seems to crash right after boot, making the screen flash, and
showing the ugly black X cursor for a few seconds. Everytime I have this
problem, I see Intel Bluetooth driver issues in dmesg output. No font
issues = no bluetooth error messages in dmesg output and vice versa.

[Bug 1590940] Re: Can't enable/disable SMS status report

2016-07-18 Thread M.K.
Same on BQ Aquaris E5.

Workaround: Add some code in the beginning of the sms and you will
receive status report by sms; the code will appear in the conversation
window, the recipient won’t see it.

e.G. in Germany put *N# in the beginning (see http://www.sms-guide.de
/sms-sendebericht-jedes-handy-kann-ihn-auch-das-iphone-662.html) - it
works on my phone.

in Ireland it should be *R* (see http://cgarvey.ie/archive/2009/09/22
/getting-sms-delivery-reports-on-your-o2-ireland-iphone/)

It is not an evereyday solution, but sometimes it helps. A "normal"
status report would be much better of course...

Ross, I would suggest to open a new bug report (run "ubuntu-bug os-

it is caused by a different case. Which needs more info to avoid. The
snippet above does not work in the general case. Which means to avoid it
automatically this needs more info about what to avoid.

Hi

Tried to run perf command in Ubuntu16.10 command failing with
libbfd-2.26-system.so not found .

Reproducible:

1- Install system with Ubuntu16.10

3- run perf command

Expected result :

Perf command should able to run successfully

Actual Result:

perf here is looking for .so file "libbfd-2.26-system.so" however the
installed version is "libbfd-2.26.1-system.so", which is updated version
of libbfd but perf is looking for older version.

Work around is creating a symlink, which seems to be working.

I'm guessing the launchpad bug is just trying to mirror the status of that one?

separate connected) at the beginning of my session everything works fine.
+ The lid is closed while booting.

After starting Firefox Webbrowser the focus of the mouse is some how
lost. Then for example it is not possible to open the context menu of
Firefox or typed letters appear on the other screen.

I found a workaround to have a working setup. I boot the laptop at the
beginning with only one attached screen (cable disconnected). After
login I attach the second screen and open the "Displays" configuration
menu and click on something without changing the configuration. After a
few seconds the second screen appears and everything works fine.

Sadly the focus is also lost when I remove the Laptop from the
dockingstation and attach it back to the docking station. The focus
works always fine when only the build in display is used.

  Regards,

  Michael

precise-backports seems like the right place for this bug. If you want
to reassign back again, please give a reason. We certainly won't be
doing a major feature backport of OpenSSH in e.g. precise-updates.

[Bug 1229456] Re: Provide way to pass rootflags=degraded (for btrfs)

2016-07-18 Thread Toby Corkindale
Nearly three years on.. I'm sad to see that even in Ubuntu 16.04 that
this bug still exists.

It's quite annoying -- if you have mirrored btrfs drives, you'd really
hope that you could boot with a drive missing! (Without having to fiddle
around with the grub menu manually)

[Bug 1603706] Re: Possible races in tst_daemon tests.

2016-07-18 Thread Alberto Mardegan
I definitely see how these failures can happen: the tests set the
OnlineAccounts.Manager service's auto-termination timeout to 2 seconds,
which is generally appropriate. However, the testAccountChanges() test
is not even trying to keep the service alive, because it's modifying the
accounts DB via libaccounts; so, on a slower testing machine, indeed the
service could auto-terminate itself during the lifetime of the test.

The error in vivid shows exactly this; in the yakkety case, the auto-
termination happens a bit later, allowing the testAccountChanges() test
to succeed, but then by the time the next test (testLifetime()) sets up
its watch, the OnlineAccounts.Manager service has already quit, causing
the other test to fail.
