[Bug 1637801] [NEW] Incorrect Russian translation of "apt list --upgradeabe" results
Public bug reported: bor@bor-Latitude-E5450:~$ apt list --upgradeable Вывод списка… Готово build/неизвестно 20161025 all [может быть обновлён до: 20151105] In Russian this means "version 20161025 can be upgraded TO version 20151105) While original English says exactly opposite: bor@bor-Latitude-E5450:~$ LC_ALL=C LANG=C apt list --upgradeable Listing... Done build/unknown 20161025 all [upgradable from: 20151105] Literal translation (that does not require serious phrase change) would probably be "может быть обновлен с" although it sounds also artificial, as in Russian subject is package that is being updated (currently installed), not new version. [Bug 1637794] [NEW] Keyboard and mouse stops working randomly
Public bug reported: Description:Ubuntu 16.10 Release:16.10 xinput: Installed: 1.6.2-1 Candidate: 1.6.2-1 Version table: *** 1.6.2-1 500 500 http://my.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu yakkety/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Keyboard and mouse is supposed to just work. With Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 (clean install) keyboard and mouse randomly stops working. It doesn't appear to be a system freeze as anything that's running appears to still be working. Ubuntu just fails to receive any keyboard and mouse input. The only 'fix' is to reset the PC. As far as I can tell, there's no pattern to it. I could be browsing the web and it just suddenly stops working, or it could be idle for a while and I can't get the monitor to wake up from sleep. Sometimes I could use the system for days without incident, and sometimes it just keeps on 'freezing' within minutes after a reset. Alt+SysReq+reisub doesn't work at all. Public bug reported: Straightforward upgrade. 14.04LTS desktop system (x86-64) was in a valid state, with updating working and all updates applied. Answered "Yes" to the prompt to upgrade to 16.04 LTS. Let that run. Failed with dialog box "Could not calculate the upgrade", with no additional useful information. Looking at the logs shows a huge number of "Broken" packages, many of which are internal to Ubuntu, so that's not helpful. [Bug 1168742] Re: [udev] Disks are not unmounted when physical eject button is used
@Peter Bennett Ok, I finally managed to test this with CDs and worked out the problem. This was a fault in my shell script. The test line in the script should be 'if [ "$n" -ne '0' ];then umount /dev/sr0;fi'. Note the command should have been 'umount' not 'eject'. Complete solution taking the above into account: sudo apt-get install dvd+rw-tools echo 'KERNEL=="sr0", ACTION=="change", RUN+="/usr/local/bin/sr0_change.sh"' | sudo tee /etc/udev/rules.d/61-sr0-change.rules cat << 'EOF' | sudo tee /usr/local/bin/sr0_change.sh #!/bin/sh dvd+rw-mediainfo /dev/sr0 > /dev/null n=$? if [ "$n" -ne '0' ];then umount /dev/sr0;fi EOF sudo chmod +x /usr/local/bin/sr0_change.sh sudo reboot -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1168742 Title: [udev] Disks are not unmounted when physical eject button is used To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/systemd/+bug/1168742/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1626268] Re: install crash on thinkpad yoga with default bios settings with message: The 'grub-efi-amd64-signed' package failed to install into /target/
Dear Phillip, you are totally right, and I fixed the explanation I got while trying to install already helped me to find out that I had to change a setting in my bios prior to install. That's exactly what I did. And everythign works well. The problem here is related to the Modal that is attached in the screenshot of the second message that displays a close button which doesn't work. So it's a pure GUI design problem. The code behind the close button doesn't work and doesn't close the modal. And that's why I say install crash. The install doesn't work, it shoudl at least handle properly all the error case including the one when someone as EFI mode enabled and get the modal I got. But of course it's not a critical bug :-) just a user interface that fail to achieve his purpose. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1626268 Title: install crash on thinkpad yoga with default bios settings with message: The 'grub-efi-amd64-signed' package failed to install into /target/ To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1626268/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1637773] [NEW] update replaced custom setting in sudoers, despite showing "no changes"
Public bug reported: I have Ubuntu Studio 14.04. I used software updater to update. I then got a box asking me to replace /etc/sudoers. There was an expandable called "changes", which I clicked on. This revealed an _empty_ text area. Just in case, I backed up my sudoers file. Then I went ahead and allowed the replace of this file. Now it turns out there were changes. My custom setting was removed: Defaultstimestamp_timeout=0 Also, the path line was updated with an added /snap/bin. It shouldn't show no changes when there are changes. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the sudo package or the updater. ** Affects: sudo (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1637773 Title: update replaced custom setting in sudoers, despite showing "no changes" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sudo/+bug/1637773/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1637770] [NEW] package mysql-common 5.7.16-0ubuntu0.16.10.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
Public bug reported: I may have messed up the setuid bits in /usr. I wasn't paying attention when I did a chmod -R as root. I thought I fixed them all because "Software Center" and "MySQL" were working fine again, after I compared all files with "rws" with my Ubuntu 16.04 system and updated the 16.10 system with that permission. Now that, "Software Center" doesn't install with Polkit and I got this error, I assume it's related to file ownership or setuid. Maybe this isn't a bug per se, but it would be nice to get some pointer from the error message for users who tend to be oblivious like me when doing "User" stuff v. [Bug 1363670] Re: 8480dn
the driver appears to be corrupting the printer in some way. brother has the same problem even in their windows drivers, at least in earlier versions. the only "fix" is to break up every print job into 1-page documents, send 1 page, let it print, reboot the printer, delete the printer, re-add the printer, send the next page, etc... until you finish printing. this is really poorly designed. may only affect the USB printing. brother says "direct printing" works just fine. i take that to mean networked printing over port 9100 / jetdirect works fine. its the USB printing thats the issue ** Tags added: yakkety ** Tags added: regression-release -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1363670 Title: 8480dn To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1363670/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1630459] Re: Ralink rt5390 unstable connection on ubuntu 16.04.1
Julio Palazón, besides the reverse commit bisect (which you advised is a challenge), you would want to provide the previously requested information: 1) Full router manufacturer, model, and firmware. 2) Advise if updating the BIOS of your PC to the latest changes anything. Also, I have no issues you mentioned with either Intel, Qualcomm/Atheros, or Broadcom WiFi chipsets (802.11g, 802.11n, and 802.11ac) with 16.04 via Network Manager.
