Further information: In my case, the situation happened when updating Kubuntu (16.4 to 16.10) from command line using, and after do-release-upgrade crashed during update. [Bug 1636253] Re: blocks audio output for other applications
Try to disable the squeezelite service, with: sudo systemctl stop squeezelite.service sudo systemctl disable squeezelite.service This will prevent it from loading on reboot. [Bug 1644098] [NEW] Network Manager + OpenVPN does not respond to DNS server change on second connection attempt
Public bug reported: Scenario: Discovered on Kubuntu 16.10, upgraded from a fresh install of 16.04. While I only have the one computer to test with, the 16.10 is definitely relevant (I did not have this problem on 16.04) but I can't tell if the upgrade is part of it, (the upgrade may or may not be relevant). Have "full time" wired or wireless connection (does not matter which used) Part time OpenVPN connection set up via NetworkManager. Steps to reproduce 1. Fresh boot 2. ping a device on the VPN network (eg amachine.remotelan ) Result: "ping: amachine.remotelan: Name or service not known" 3. Connect to the VPN service via Network Manager. 4. ping amachine.remotelan - result: PING amachine.remotelan (192.168.68.44) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from amachine.remotelan (192.168.68.44): icmp_seq=1 ttl=127 time=7.75 ms 5. Disconnect from the VPN service again. ping result again "ping: amachine.remotelan: Name or service not known" 6. [Bug 1636847] Re: unexpectedly large memory usage of mounted snaps
Hey Seth. To reply to your earlier question: @zyga: I'm honestly very surprised that the config change had that drastic an impact on the single-CPU system. Can you tell me what 'cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/possible' says on that system? This was in a virtual machine with one CPU and the file listed above says: cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/possible 0-127 Interestingly, using more CPUs (4 virtual CPUs) the numbers change to: $ cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/possible 0-7 So it looks like a bug in the kernel or the VM software (in this case vmware). [Bug 1643239] Re: Xorg crash on compiz login, with Intel 945
I haven't verified this yet, but it looks from the XOrg log like these systems are booting into dual head (with the SVideo out on head 2), 2128x800 total. That width over 2048 is probably what's causing the problem. I did "lose the mouse" on one, and suspected a "phantom head." I went to System Settings -> Display, it didn't show a second head but the whole desktop flickered (I suspect it turned the superfluos head off then.) I suspect it stored this in .config/monitors.xml, I'll check tomorrow if it'll now log into compiz, and if it's got some hotkey that may toggle that on and off. I guess if that works out, then there's no real X bug; perhaps compiz should fall back to llvmpipe if it sees an an otherwise-working opengl implementation, but asks for a large texture and has it fail. Kudos to the compiz, Xorg, and llvmpipe developers btw... the CPU and RAM use were already decent in 14.04 but much lower now, and llvmpipe's actually reasonably fast too. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1643239 Title: Xorg crash on compiz login, with Intel 945 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1643239/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1211110] Re: network manager openvpn dns push data not updating system DNS addresses
This might be my a-ha moment from comment # 64 "after upgrading to 16.10, yes it is even worse, the first VPN connection works as it should, but after disconnect/connect, DNS from VPN isn't propagated" I came to this bug because suddenly my VPN connection wasn't working when I *swear* it was yesterday. I didn't have (/don't remember having!) any problems under 16.04, obviously the 16.10 update was recent. I'm about to reboot - if it comes right after that, then I'll be able to confirm this diagnosis. That said, interesting discussion on http://askubuntu.com/questions/838948/16-10-fail-to-resolve-dns - is dnsmasq out of the equation now? That would suggest problems with upgrading from 16.04 to 16.10 not reconfiguring (and maybe the commenting-out of dns=dnsmasq is the missing sort of step). Also agree with Mathieu in comment # 50 that this bug report is way past its use-by date. It was started for 13.04 and now we're discussing the 16.04 to 16.10 upgrade? Similar symptoms, but highly unlikely that the same remedy would work across all these versions. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120 Title: network manager openvpn dns push data not updating system DNS addresses To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/120/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1643345] Re: nvidia-367 367.57-0ubuntu0.16.04.1: nvidia-367 kernel module failed to build [Makefile:81: recipe for target 'modules' failed]
I spent some time going through posts and trying various things. The best I can reckon from all information gathered so far is something about the upgrade process from 14.04 to 16.04 trips things up for the Nvidia driver build. If Ubuntu 16.04 is installed from scratch, people report it works, but the part of it not working during / after an upgrade from a previous Ubuntu release is consistent. The thing is I have a system that has so much going on on it that starting over would be a huge time kill, so solving this would probably take less time even if it is a bit involved to figure out. Also if it is working on some installations and not others depending on how Ubuntu was installed, that points to a possible issue on the open source side tripping up things on the Nvidia side of the fence. (The notion here clean install of open source 16.04 equals proper environment for Nvidia driver to build while something off kilter about the Ubuntu upgrade process equals broken environment for the Nvidia driver to try to build in. Of course I also would not discount the notion that everything from each team runs to their internally defined spec, but two teams had two different ideas on the details of what is a valid thing to do / expect from the other.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1643345 Title: nvidia-367 367.57-0ubuntu0.16.04.1: nvidia-367 kernel module failed to build [Makefile:81: recipe for target 'modules' failed] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-367/+bug/1643345/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1342175] Re: [upstream] Poor performance with find & replace with empty value on large data set
My sources.lst.d contains this file and this entry: File:libreoffice-libreoffice-5-1-trusty.list Contents: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/libreoffice/libreoffice-5-1/ubuntu trusty main I oversee an environment of around 50 PCs that are all running the same version of Linux Mint (17.1) and Libre Office. In order to keep all the systems up to date, we have a local mirror of a part of the Linux Mint / Ubuntu repositories and this includes LibreOffice locally mirrored, using the same ppa mentioned above. We would like to be on at least 5.1.x for all our client systems and would like to remain on this version or move to 5.2.x if that is stable. Could you please tell me where and how to download / install the bug- fixed version (deb version, please) that you mentioned in your comment, so that I can test the same and also deploy it to all the client machines via our local repository? And also which ppa we can use to keep all systems in sync? [Bug 1644071] [NEW] [SRU] MAAS 2.1.2
Public bug reported: [Impact] MAAS 2.1.2 is a new upstream bugfix release that includes various fixes that Ubuntu version of MAAS would benefit of. As per upstream CHANGELOG, MAAS 2.1.2 fixes: LP: #1516065Fix IPMI chassis config session timeout issue when configuring the boot device. Only error on PowerAuthErrors when configuring the IPMI chassis boot order. LP: #16429962.x preseeds with {{escape.shell}} fail if not upgraded at 2.1.1 LP: #1643057juju2 with maas 2.1.1 LXD containers get wrong ip addresses LP: #1640300Be defensive in the postgresql listener when a system notification is received for a none existent handler or missing listener channel. LP: #1613862Re-allow configuration of the port where to connect to postgresql. LP: #1638575Add two capabilities: bridging-interface-ubuntu and bridging-automatic-ubuntu. [Test Case] 1. Install MAAS 2.0.0 or Ubuntu 2.1.0 2. Upgrade to MAAS 2.1.2 3. MAAS will continue to function as originally designed. [Regression Potential] Minimal. MAAS 2.1.2 has been CI'd and manually tested: - We perform new install package testing to ensure that the package is rock solid on fresh installations. - We perform upgrade testing from previous MAAS and Ubuntu Releases. At the moment we perform upgrade testing covering upgrades from MAAS 2.0. The upgrade ensures that MAAS after the upgrade is up and running with no issues. - We have performed CI testing to ensure there are no regressions. ** Affects: maas (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: maas (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: maas (Ubuntu Yakkety) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: maas (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: maas (Ubuntu Yakkety) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1644071 Title: [SRU] MAAS 2.1.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maas/+bug/1644071/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1643934] Re: cannot install published snap
I'm glad it's working now! We are aware that there are some non-obvious UX paths on the web UI, but your feedback helps to further confirm and clarify that, so thank you. For now you may find it easier to work primarily from the command-line with `snapcraft push` and `snapcraft release` commands. You can also inspect the current channel mapping with `snapcraft status ` if you have the latest version of snapcraft. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1643934 Title: cannot install published snap To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/developer-portal/+bug/1643934/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This bug was fixed in the package php-imagick - 3.4.3~rc1-1ubuntu1 --- php-imagick (3.4.3~rc1-1ubuntu1) zesty; urgency=medium * Merge with Debian unstable (LP: #1644055). [ refresh for new upstream version ] - Fix failures in autopkgtests (LP #1549942) + imagick-3.4.0RC6/tests/025-get-color.phpt: Do not do version check, as Ubuntu has backported the referenced fixes. [ Refreshed for new upstream version and debian series ] - Do not manually set MAGICK_THREAD_LIMIT in d/t/control, as the number of threads are limited in the source. * Drop: - Use libmagickwand-6.q16-dev | libmagickwand-dev as the test dependency instead of hard-coding an soname that will require us to update the tests file for each new ABI. [Bug 1577074] Re: AMDGPU driver problems on "Carrizo" APU
I'm installing fresh Ubuntu 16.04, I will be trying the latest kernel 4.9 rc-6 to see if this is fixed. I have a AMD A10-8700P Radeon R6, 10 Compute Cores 4C+6G × 4. I can see there are a whole lot of AMDGPU commits in upcoming linux- next. Maybe kernel 4.10 will finally solve this important issue. I have to give thumb down on the Low 'Importance' of this bug. I do feel like complaining but understand that AMDGPU has really great performance for 2D acceleration and that's what I need. (catalyst has really poor 2D acceleration and makes my day to day work experience really laggy).
