[Bug 931044] Re: no more printing
Gunter, We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time. Presumably this problem was a one time occurrence and/or is no longer an issue? Can this bug report now be closed? If we do not hear from you the bug report will close itself in approximately 60 days time. Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better. [Bug 1705369] Re: Ubuntu 17.10/18.04 boots to black screen when using Nvidia drivers (on a desktop with an Intel GPU)
Hi, this is the basic configuration of my desktop: -Motherboard: ROG STRIX X370-F GAMING. -CPU: Ryzen 7 1700. -GPU: GTX 1050 2GB from MSI. I don't know if the bug I have is this one, but sometimes, after successfully login, the screen goes black in the first 10 minutes. On Ubuntu 17.10 I could see a message about "stopping user manager for uid", but on 18.04 I only see information about storage I always get in the boot process, nothing apparently bad. I used different versions of the NVIDIA blob driver without getting different results, but the error didn't appear in almost one month using Linux Mint, so I think the problem is from Ubuntu's stack. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1705369 Title: Ubuntu 17.10/18.04 boots to black screen when using Nvidia drivers (on a desktop with an Intel GPU) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1705369/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1784473] [NEW] Xorg freeze
Public bug reported: After a fresh install of ubuntu 18.04LTS(dual booted with windows 7) when I selected ubuntu from the grub menu to boot into the OS. But I got a black screen I waited for few seconds but I was still at black screen. So, I forced shutdown the laptop. Again in second attempt to login I got black screen this time I waited for more than a minute and pressed power button once which suspended the pc then I pressed enter and I was presented with login screen. To solve the problem I followed this guide https://askubuntu.com/questions/1029624/ubuntu-18-04-live-boot-leads-to- blank-screen and changed quiet splash to nomodeset quiet splash. After applying this fix there was no black screen at the time of login, but the laptop started to freeze randomly even when left idle for more than 30 mins it would freeze. I had force shutdown each time and this happened very frequently. I again changed nomodeset quiet splash to quiet splash, which again leads to black screen after selecting ubuntu from the grub menu. I also did RAM test using Memtest86 from GRUB and everything was fine systemd-analyze time Startup finished in 6.015s (kernel) + 1min 26.820s (userspace) = 1min 32.836s graphical.target reached after 1min 25.472s in userspace ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+19ubuntu7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-29.31-generic 4.15.18 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-29-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.2 Architecture: amd64 BootLog: Error: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/log/boot.log' CompositorRunning: None CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Tue Jul 31 00:17:48 2018 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: bionic DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: virtualbox, 5.2.10, 4.15.0-29-generic, x86_64: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GpuHangFrequency: Several times a day GpuHangReproducibility: Seems to happen randomly GpuHangStarted: Immediately after installing this version of Ubuntu GraphicsCard: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time. [Bug 1784471] [NEW] Ubuntu cloud-images fail after mutation due to having 2 disk images
Public bug reported: I've been attempting to use Ubuntu Vagrant boxes with vagrant-libvirt locally and hitting a lot of problems after using vagrant-mutate to convert the VirtualBox box to libvirt! After solving or working around several bugs in vagrant-libvirt itself I found the guest image would boot but never bring up any network so "vagrant up" fails eventually. This affects the Ubuntu cloud-image boxes since they are for VirtualBox and contain 2 disk images: the root-fs and the cloud-init data. E.g the ubuntu/bionic64 image when mutated results in only 1 disk image (the cloudimage-configdrive is not mutated): boxes ubuntu-VAGRANTSLASH-bionic 0 find . -ls 270462 4 drwxrwxr-x 4 tj tj 4096 Jul 29 17:43 . 270457 4 drwxrwxr-x 2 tj tj 4096 Jul 29 17:43 ./libvirt 262177 1028044 -rw-r--r-- 1 tj tj 1052704768 Jul 29 18:21 ./libvirt/box.img 267960 12 -rw-rw-r-- 1 tj tj 136 Jul 29 17:43 ./libvirt/Vagrantfile 267827 12 -rw-rw-r-- 1 tj tj 57 Jul 29 17:43 ./libvirt/metadata.json 270463 4 drwxrwxr-x 2 tj tj 4096 Jul 28 13:15 ./virtualbox 268076 80 -rw-r--r-- 1 tj tj72192 Jul 28 13:15 ./virtualbox/ubuntu-bionic-18.04-cloudimg-configdrive.vmdk 268075 307892 -rw-r--r-- 1 tj tj315267584 Jul 28 13:15 ./virtualbox/ubuntu-bionic-18.04-cloudimg.vmdk 268074 12 -rw-r--r-- 1 tj tj 310 Jul 28 13:15 ./virtualbox/ubuntu-bionic-18.04-cloudimg.mf 268066 20 -rw-r--r-- 1 tj tj11061 Jul 28 13:15 ./virtualbox/box.ovf 268071 12 -rw-r--r-- 1 tj tj 478 Jul 28 13:15 ./virtualbox/Vagrantfile 268072 12 -rw-r--r-- 1 tj tj 31 Jul 28 13:15 ./virtualbox/metadata.json ** Affects: vagrant-mutate Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: vagrant-mutate (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Bug watch added: github.com/sciurus/vagrant-mutate/issues #91 https://github.com/sciurus/vagrant-mutate/issues/91 ** Also affects: vagrant-mutate via https://github.com/sciurus/vagrant-mutate/issues/91 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1784471 Title: Ubuntu cloud-images fail after mutation due to having 2 disk images To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/vagrant-mutate/+bug/1784471/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

(LP: #1770553) ca-certificates-java (20180516ubuntu1) cosmic; urgency=low * Merge from Debian unstable (LP: #1771815). Remaining changes: - debian/control: Bump javahelper build dependency. - debian/rules: + Explicitly depend on openjdk-11-jre-headless, needed to configure. + Replace javac arguments '-source 1.7 -target 1.7' with '--release 7' as, per JEP-247, it also takes care of setting the right -bootclasspath argument. ca-certificates-java (20180516) unstable; urgency=medium * Team upload. [ Tiago Stürmer Daitx ] * debian/jks-keystore.hook.in: don't create a jvm-*.cfg file, a default file with the right configuration is already supplied by the openjdk packages. * debian/jks-keystore.hook.in, debian/postinst.in: Only export JAVA_HOME and update PATH if a known jvm was found. * debian/postinst.in: Detect PKCS12 cacert keystore generated by previous ca-certificates-java and convert them to JKS. (Closes: #898678) (LP: #1771363) [ Matthias Klose ] * debian/rules: Explicitly depend on openjdk-11-jre-headless, needed to configure.
