[Bug 1863672] Re: The 'new' persistent live method starting in 19.10 no longer works
Thanks Michael. As you know, I would strongly favour reverting the problematic changes so that everybody has more time to analyse where the issue lies (and especially why some machines don't seem to be affected), but I think I made my position clear already so I'll leave you and the release team decide what you think is best at this stage. With regards to the updated initrd, this one seems to work much better, so I have attached the files I get. This test was performed on a very recent Intel NUC 10i7FNK where the persistent partition failed to mount. As you will see, nothing got written to udev-ls.txt, but hopefully you can get enough data from the other file. If you need more data, please let me know. ** Attachment added: "udev-files-nuc10i7-20200406.zip" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/casper/+bug/1863672/+attachment/5348021/+files/udev-files-nuc10i7-20200406.zip -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1863672 Title: The 'new' persistent live method starting in 19.10 no longer works To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/casper/+bug/1863672/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1861631] Re: "The AppStream system cache was updated, but some components were ignored. Refer to the verbose log for more information."
Please disregard my previous comment. Looking at the code, I realize that the maintainer packaged the upstream gnome-software "3.36.0" tag, not the "gnome-3-36" branch, which makes a lot more sense indeed. So even though the fix is made upstream, it is NOT YET released, and therefore not packaged for Ubuntu. [Bug 1871184] Re: openconnect throws errors and routing issues after connection.
I can confirm that 1- downloading the vpn-script https://gitlab.com/openconnect/vpnc- scripts/-/blob/master/vpnc-script 2- then putting it on /etc/vpnc/ 3- then running sudo openconnect --script=/etc/vpnc/vpnc-script myaccess.myvpn.com has solved the issue. [Bug 1871166] Re: lrmd crashes
** Description changed: [impact] lrmd crashes and dumps core. [test case] I can not reproduce, but it is reproducable in the specific setup of the person reporting the bug to me. [regression potential] this patches the cancel/cleanup part of the code, so regressions would likely involve possible memory leaks (instead of use-after-free segfaults), failure to correctly cancel or cleanup operations, or other failure during cancel action. [scope] this is fixed by commits: 933d46ef20591757301784773a37e06b78906584 94a4c58f675d163085a055f59fd6c3a2c9f57c43 dc36d4375c049024a6f9e4d2277a3e6444fad05b deabcc5a6aa93dadf0b20364715b559a5b9848ac b85037b75255061a41d0ec3fd9b64f271351b43e which are all included starting with version 1.1.17, and Bionic includes version 1.1.18, so this is fixed already in Bionic and later. This is needed only for Xenial. [other info] As mentioned in the test case section, I do not have a setup where I'm able to reproduce this, but I can ask the initial reporter to test and verify the fix, and they have verified a test build fixed the problem for them. + + Also, the upstream commits removed two symbols, which I elided from the + backported patches; those symbols are still available and, while it is + unlikely there were any users of those symbols outside pacemaker itself, + this change should not break any possible external users. [Bug 1871184] Re: openconnect throws errors and routing issues after connection.
@laspokemon, yes, you should be able to overwrite your global vpnc- script with the latest version from the master branch. Raw source here: https://gitlab.com/openconnect/vpnc-scripts/-/raw/master/vpnc-script You will likely want to overwrite `/usr/share/vpnc-scripts/vpnc-script`, since this is the location used by Debian/Ubuntu packaging, and where the Debian/Ubuntu openconnect packages look for the script by default. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1871184 Title: openconnect throws errors and routing issues after connection. [Bug 1871067] Re: libreoffice doesn't start
Well all of the libreoffice apparmor lines for the deb look normal. But then there are a TON of snap.discord.discord denied apparmor messages, a couple of them point to libreoffice: Apr 06 19:08:48 pellenor audit[534568]: AVC apparmor="DENIED" operation="ptrace" profile="snap.discord.discord" pid=534568 comm="Discord" requested_mask="read" denied_mask="read" peer="libreoffice-oopslash" Apr 06 19:08:48 pellenor audit[534568]: AVC apparmor="DENIED" operation="ptrace" profile="snap.discord.discord" pid=534568 comm="Discord" requested_mask="read" denied_mask="read" peer="libreoffice-soffice" My guess is that somehow your discord snap is interfering with libreoffice displaying. [Bug 1870971] Re: [amdgpu] Xubuntu 20.04 boots to black screen on Lenovo Ideapad L340-17API
This issue is not 100% reproducible. It happens after 50% of reboots and I can't figure out regularity. But I managed to contrive a workaround! ``` $ cat /etc/systemd/system/fix-graphics-after-boot.service [Unit] Description=Restart display-manager if amdgpu initialization failed After=display-manager.service JobRunningTimeoutSec=30 [Install] WantedBy=graphical.target [Service] Type=oneshot ExecCondition=/usr/bin/dash -c "journalctl -fk | grep -Fm1 'amdgpu_cs_ioctl [amdgpu]] *ERROR* Failed to initialize parser'" ExecStart=/usr/bin/systemctl restart display-manager.service ``` After you've created such file don't forget to enable it: systemctl enable fix-graphics-after-boot.service The idea of this service is to scan kernel logs for 30 seconds after display-manager is started and if there is signs that amdgpu initialization failed then restart display-manager. Works for me! [Bug 340106]
Git commit f40191a147c9643717fda1cf9d1f42c526550893 by Harald Sitter. Committed on 06/04/2020 at 09:27. Pushed by sitter into branch 'master'. smb: add hack to support spaces in workgroup names Summary: workgroup names are as best I can tell always still netbios names which means they can contain a bunch of characters ordinarily not found in valid host names. e.g. spaces this causes trouble with the IANA SMB URI draft, as used by libsmbc, since the workgroup would be the host field of the RI when browsing a workgroup (i.e. filtering hosts that are member of a given workgroup) because QUrl does not allow invalid hostnames in the host field. to bypass this problem we now put the workgroup name into the query of the url as `kio-workgroup`, should it cause trouble in the host field. SMBUrl takes this query into account when constructing the url for smbc. since the latter has uniquely exciting potential for breakage this entire dance is only done when absolutely necessary and otherwise we continue with all the same code and behavior as without this commit. on a side note: the awkward name flexibility seems to not extend to computer names anymore (supposedly because of LLMNR) so this entire use case is already very niche as we (and libsmbclient) currently only support workgroup browsing for NT1 networks, and NT1 is by default not supported on windows10 or samba. [Bug 1871184] Re: openconnect throws errors and routing issues after connection.
This is a bug in vpnc-scripts, not in OpenConnect per se. Upstream Debian bug: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=955016 We fixed this bug a few months ago in: https://gitlab.com/openconnect /vpnc-scripts/-/merge_requests/5 Long story short: 1) Old versions of `vpnc-script` with old versions iproute2 were silently doing the wrong thing (creating split-exclude routes always as `/32`) 2) Old `vpnc-script` with new iproute2 fails noisily, as you're showing. 3) New `vpnc-script` with new iproute2 works correctly. We need the Ubuntu package maintainers to pull in the latest vpnc- script, as Debian packagers have already done: https://bugs.debian.org /cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=955016 ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #955016 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=955016 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1871184 Title: openconnect throws errors and routing issues after connection. [Bug 1871186] [NEW] grub-mkconfig prefers /etc/default/grub.d settings
Public bug reported: Since the fix for bug 901600 was commited, setting in /etc/default/grub now can be overiden by /etc/default/grub.d. It helps developers to make customized images, but it can really blows up the brain to the rest users. I've lost an hour trying to understand why grub ignores my GRUB_TIMEOUT settings, until I found hostile file 50-cloudimg-settings.cfg, that silently overrides my setting. I think such behaviour violates simple principle — user settings must have the higest precedence. I understand that changing this behaviour, may break a lot of code. So please at least add BIG RED BANNER to /etc/default/grub with warning: before changing something in the file, check all the files in /etc/default/grub.d for conflicting settings, because they have higher precedence. ** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1871186 Title: grub-mkconfig prefers /etc/default/grub.d settings To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1871186/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1871166] Re: lrmd crashes
** Description changed: [impact] lrmd crashes and dumps core. [test case] I can not reproduce, but it is reproducable in the specific setup of the person reporting the bug to me. [Bug 1871178] [NEW] after some days stored passwords disappear, restart does not remember last used tabs
Public bug reported: ubuntu 19.10, snap version 80.0.3987.163 normally, i keep the same chromium browser open for days. it gets closed only if an update requires a reboot. as a certain pattern i have noticed that after several days (around 4 days in this particular case) chromium stops auto-filling the passwords. opening the settings, stored passwords shows an empty list. as an additional annoyance, restarting chromium results in not the most recent tabs but tabs that were open quite some time ago, i guess at the time when this bug actually occurs and the last tab state gets successfully stored. is this a symptom of chromium losing the ability to write files after certain time? ** Affects: chromium-browser (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1871178 Title: after some days stored passwords disappear, restart does not remember last used tabs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1871178/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1871067] Re: libreoffice doesn't start
Ok so sounds like you did a fresh install of 20.04 and then launched libreoffice (should be installed just fine ith a non-minimal install like you did). Perhaps something went wrong with your install, but everything went find for your VM install. Could you please provide the journalctl output from running the libreoffice command: 1. (terminal 1) setup file to capture the output: `script -f journalctl-output.txt` 2. (terminal 1) start watching journalctl: `sudo journalctl -f` 3. (terminal 2) start libreoffice from the cli: `libreoffice` 4. if i understand correctly, no libreoffice appears and the stdout in terminal 2 is empty 5. (terminal 2) kill your libreoffice command with `Ctrl+C` if it seems hung 6. (terminal 1) kill your journalctl tail with `Ctrl+C` 7. (terminal 1) quit capturing the stdout in a file: `exit` Please provide that journalctl-output.txt file so I might have a look at the logs. Also you said that sometimes you get a white square in the center of your screen when you launch libreoffice.. is this when you launch it with the command line or with the icon?
