[Bug 873952] [NEW] Embedded terminal does not automatically respawn

2011-10-14 Thread Adi Roiban
Public bug reported:

In previous Gedit version, pressing Ctrl+D in the embedded terminal
will cause the current terminal to exit and a new terminal will be
automatically started.

In the current Gedit version, pressing Ctrl + D will close the
embedded terminal and the new terminal is no longer restarted.

[Bug 771716] Re: middle click emulation not working

2011-09-04 Thread Adi Roiban
I delete the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file with 'Option Emulate3Buttons' and
started gpointing-device-settings again, enabled middle mouse emulation and set
timeout to short.
After this, the middle click emulation is working again.

No need to edit any xorg.conf files.

Sorry for the noise.

Only now I saw comment 228.

I added dell_laptop.backlight=0 to kernel start options and it is now
working with the standard Oneiric kernel.

It was not required to use gnome-settings-daemon from the PPA.

Thanks!

note there was no /etc/X11/xorg.conf file before

[Bug 771716] Re: middle click emulation not working

2011-04-28 Thread Adi Roiban
Here is the requested file. (It was taken on Maverick, but I hope it is
ok.)

Are there any drawback for enabling middle click emulation by default?

I have an external keyboard and mouse attached to the laptop. The touchpad from
the laptop has only 2 buttons.
In Natty, pressing the 2 touchpad buttons in the same time triggers the middle
click event. Pressing the 2 buttons from the external mouse does not trigger
the event.

In Maverick everything works fine.

[Bug 771713] [NEW] Image on external monitor is broken when only the external monitor is enabled

2011-04-27 Thread Adi Roiban
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I have this strange regression in Natty. Everything was fine in
Maverick.

I have an intel core i3 CPU with the default video card.

I connect the external monitor using the D-SUB (VGA) connector.

First time when I have connected the external monitor, Ubuntu was trying
to be smart and automatically enabled the external monitor and disabled
the builtin monitor. The image on the external monitor was broken,
flickering very hard and it was not possible to see anything on the
screen.

I pressed the external monitor key from the keyboard and `Display
properties windows was opened with both monitors enabled. Now the image
was stable on the external monitor.

I tried various configurations, it it looks like the image on the
external monitor is only broken when the internal monitor is turned off.

Thanks,
Adi

[Bug 771716] [NEW] middle click emulation not working

2011-04-27 Thread Adi Roiban
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-mouse

This looks like a regression in Natty as in Maverick everything was fine

I have installed a fresh Natty system, but the middle click emulation on my
external mouse is not working.
I am using an external mouse attached to the laptop.

The middle click emulation is working when I used the 2 buttons from the
laptop touchpad.

[Bug 771722] [NEW] The new dark theme from Natty has poor contrast

[Bug 771728] [NEW] new scrollbar - Autoscrolling is not working with mouse drag selection

2011-04-27 Thread Adi Roiban
Public bug reported:

I am trying Natty and in applications like Nautilus or Gedit where the
new scrollbars are enabled, when I try to select multiple icons or
multiple lines, when the selection reached the windows margin, the
windows viewport is not scrolled.

To reproduce this bug, try to open a long text file in Gedit. Then while
holding the mouse left button move it down to select multiple lines. Go to the
windows margin as when you would like to select more lines.
The view is not scrolled.

[Bug 771733] [NEW] Menu is not revealed on mouse over for the secondary monitor

2011-04-27 Thread Adi Roiban
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-appmenu

I am using Unity 2d with a dual head setup.

When some windows are in the secondary monitor, the menu is not revealed

[Bug 747343] Re: [launcher] does not autohide

2011-04-11 Thread Adi Roiban
Hi.

I have a similar problem... not sure if it is related or not... but the
left panel (launcher) is not hiding when windows are in full screen.

I set gconftool --set --type int /desktop/unity-2d/launcher/hide_mode 2
but no luck.

I also tried to push the panel with another windows but did not hide
the left panel.

Here are my unity processes:

[Bug 713983] [NEW] Menu shortcuts can not be edited using all key combinations

2011-02-06 Thread Adi Roiban
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-application

The is a strange behavior in appmenu.

I have enabled the editable menu shortcut keys in GNOME.

When using the appmenu applet in GNOME, I can delete a menu shortcut
using „backspace” but then I can not add a Ctrl+KEY combination or
assign a function key.

It looks like the Help - Contents menu entries is always displayed as
having F1 as the key shortcut even though I have disabled it Trying
to press Backspace over Help-Contents does not remove F1 from the UI.
(shortcut is in fact disabled).

Also when removing the appmenu applet and adding it again it seems that
the shortcut are somehow not updated... not sure what is happening
there. In the normal GTK menu a I have some custom shortcuts ... but
when enabling the appmenu they are not the same.

Cheers,
Adi

[Bug 656517] Re: launcher should allow to start several instances of an application

2010-10-26 Thread Adi Roiban
Unfortunately, the Unity wiki page does not share to much information
about various Unity components and I am not sure which part is exactly
the Launcher

From the point of view of this bug, i guess that the Launcher is the
left side imitation of Mac OS X Dock.

If I click the Ubuntu logo, and then I type terminal in the search
field and then I wait 30 second... I can click on the 'Terminal'
icon and it will open a new terminal each time I click it. First I was
thinking that this is The launcher

The always visible, left side launcher, looks to me much more than a
launcher since it is also a task manager, trash manager and volume
manager.

--

Getting back to the bug report.

Since the always visible, left side toolbar is somehow following the Mac
OS X Dock behavior, I was thinking that maybe applications could provide
a hint whether they are single or multiple instances. A right click on
the the launcher will show a New instance option in the menu.

For example having multiple instances of Ubuntu software center is not of
much use and could only confuse the users.
I can also think of Empathy as only requiring a single instance.

---

Btw. Unity is much more usable than Gnone-shell... keep up the good work
:)

[Bug 655580] [NEW] Add a quick controls for microphone (mute/unmute)

2010-10-06 Thread Adi Roiban
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-sound

Right now, the sound indicator allows only to mute/unmute or change the
speakers (output) level.

It would be great if it could also provide a quick control for the
microphone (input).

By doing so, users will have a quick feedback regarding the reason why
the sound input is not working... in most cases the input level being
muted or too low.

Thanks

[Bug 568611] Re: Screen brightness control fails on Dell Studio 1558

2010-10-03 Thread Adi Roiban
I have tested on a Dell Inspiron N3010 with Intel video and it works. It
should also work on N4010 13n 14n or 15n with Intel video card as they
have the same hardware.

I noticed that with this kernel the computer hangs for about 10 seconds
before showing the splashscreen.

I used dell_laptop.backlight=0. Without this parameter the dell
backlight module is loaded.

Thanks!

[Bug 551950] Re: gnome-bluetooth cannot use pin = 1234

2010-09-27 Thread Adi Roiban
It looks like the preset pins does not work in gnome bluetooth manager.
I was trying to pair and use a bluetooth headset.

I was able to use it by installing blueman bug #480959

Still, it would be nice if this will work by default in Ubuntu.

I have the same problem in Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10 beta

[Bug 477983] Re: Authentication title on NTFS mount dialog is not translated

2010-06-05 Thread Adi Roiban
The Authentication is required to mount the device strings is from
policy kit and it requires the manual export of translations, updating
the policykit files and the uploading the package.

#: ../policy/org.freedesktop.devicekit.disks.policy.in.h:9
msgid Authentication is required to mount the device

---

I have found the Not Authorized string in devicekit-discs:
devicekit-disks-007/src/devkit-disks-daemon.c

throw_error (data-context,
 DEVKIT_DISKS_ERROR_PERMISSION_DENIED,
 Not Authorized);

I guess those strings needs to be made available for translations.

Martin, why do you think this bugs does not affects devicekit-disks ?
Do we need to open a different bug

Adding this bug for language-pack-pt does not helps to much, as
language packs are automatically generated and those strings are not
available for translations in Rosetta.

[Bug 387707] Re: Firefox startpage links (Help, Participate, and Shop) not translated/localized

2010-04-26 Thread Adi Roiban
HI YannUbuntu,

There is an ongoing effort for providing links from local resources from
the www.ubuntu.com

Still, this bug is not due to ubufox package and the Ubuntu Start Page
team can not link to localized version of Ubuntu Shop, Ubuntu Help and
Ubuntu Participate since they don't exists.

The Participate or Community' or any www.ubuntu.com will not be
translated... so this is Won't fix

For the Ubuntu Shop, you should file a bug to the Ubuntu Shop project...
but I am not sure if we have one and I am not sure if this is going to
happen soon this can also mean Won't fix

There are plans for providing a translated version of help.ubuntu.com
... but until this is done, we can not link it from the Ubuntu start
page.

For now, this bug will not be fixed in Ubuntu Start page.

If you want to help with the translation of help.ubuntu.com, please get
in touch with the Ubuntu Documentation team.

Cheers

[Bug 533269] Re: External display not working

2010-04-19 Thread Adi Roiban
I don't know how to better describe this bug. The external monitor is
just not working.

It is enabled in gnome-display-properties but the external monitor is
still not receiving any signal and remains in standby.

Since this is a hardware specific problem you will need an ATI x300 card
to reproduce it.

Since Hardy, where everthing was perfect, the video support for this
card got worse with each release so maybe Lucid is not supposed to be
running on this computer and I should stop my upgrades at Karmic where I
can get 1024x768 or use Hardy where I can use the full 1600x1050
resolution.

I have attached a screenshot of gnome-display-properties.

Feel free to mark it as won't fix.

[Bug 441986] Re: Live CD Examples desktop item translations depended on having the PO files

2010-03-11 Thread Adi Roiban
example-content is in main, so I was thinking that if we try to upload
example-content, langpack-o-matic will strip them.

Maybe the bug is not in langpack-o-matic, but in the script that builds
binary packages.
