[Bug 594705] Re: avidemux crash when saving

2011-11-27 Thread Aswarp
Avidemux crashes for me too. Here is how to reproduce the trouble:
I Load a *.VOB file generated with a conventional digital video camera, which
is stored under a secondary hard drive within the VIDEO_TS folder. I set the
'A' and 'B' marks in order to export a cropped portion to any format, such as
plain AVI (but tried some others). I leave the Video and Audio settings set to
'copy'. then I try to save the project, choosing a folder on the harddisk disk
(I tried same disk and a different one and checked that it can be both read and
written). then the app throws an exception and crashes with the following
message:

[Bug 693751] Re: Impossible to type in passwords or update software packages in KUbuntu 10.10 fresh install

2010-12-27 Thread Aswarp
I mean that when a pop-up dialog box is raised in order for the user to
type in a password, nothing will be written (not even asterisks or black
fat dots) within the text field even when the pop-up has got the focus
and the user is striking the keyboard, which works all right elsewhere.

[Bug 693751] Re: Impossible to type in passwords or update software packages in KUbuntu 10.10 fresh install

2010-12-23 Thread Aswarp
The bit of being unable to update software has been SOLVED using this page:
http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-621698.html
The solution involved backing up the directory /var/lib/apt/lists/ then
deleting everything inside it (except for the backup, obviously) and then
running apt-get again.
The reamining trouble is the one with passwords not been properly typed in
within dialog boxes, either in KPackegeKit or other applications with routines
which graphically require user authentication.

[Bug 693751] Re: Impossible to type in passwords or update software packages in KUbuntu 10.10 fresh install

2010-12-23 Thread Aswarp
When referring to the patch above I meant this one:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kpackagekit/+bug/578605

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: kpackagekit

  I will describe my sympthoms:
  Fresh install of KUbuntu 10.10.
I log in and get connected to a WiFi connection. I run the rekonq new
embedded web browser and it offers details about some packages to be installed
(flash player, etcetera). I try to install those and I am asked for
authentication. I choose my username and try to type in a password but nothing
happens. Apparently, password pop-up dialogs have some trouble in this new
release, because nothing gets written. So I can not authenticate and install
the packages.
So I try Firefox web browser instead, but it does not come preinstalled. I
have to install it and I am asked again for password confirmation, and again it
won't work.
So I try tu update my package list and web browsers from the terminal. I try
apt-get, aptitude and synaptic, but none of them will work. I enter
/var/lib/dpkg and sudo rename the archive 'lock' into 'lock_old' and try to run
apt-get again, but to no avail.
I try kdesudo kpackagekit and it says that I need to update my software
source (as I if didn't know by now...), but when I try, a message appears
telling that the package cache could not be opened.
- And that is it. I hope that you can help me. The patch above does not help me
clarify the problem or its solution because I do not understand what it is or
how to use it, and I think that the average user wouldn't either.

[Bug 590672] [NEW] Blue pixels upon boot

2010-06-07 Thread Aswarp
Public bug reported:

With no apparent cause, when booting from time to time one gets a bunch of blue
pixels on top of a black background before arriving to the KDE login screen in
Ubuntu Lucid Lynx. Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to restart the k graphical manager has no
effect, even when it was previously activated for this distribution. Ctrl+F1
does not grant access to a console terminal. the only course of action is
rebooting. From time to time, this black screen with blue corrupted pixels will
be shown and the the login screen will come up, while other days it just gets
stuck.
The system is an Intel dual core PC with an NVIDIA 8400 GS series video card
and propietary current drivers, running a fresh install of Ubuntu Lucid Lynx
10.04 with KDE installed on top and a "Z X city" theme for the login screen.

[Bug 589263] [NEW] Endless windows open at the KDE taskbar in Lucid Lynx, forcing restart

2010-06-03 Thread Aswarp
Public bug reported:

Endless windows open at the KDE taskbar in Lucid Lynx, forcing restart:
In different circumstances, describe below, endless application windows open in
the KDE taskbar in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx with KDE. The application which is being
opened in an infinite loop seems to be a file manager, probably the default
file manager, which in my case i think it it Dolphin. Its icon can not be
distinguished at the task bar, which gets cluttered in a matter of seconds. The
rest of the user interface does not respond or responds too slowly to be of any
use in order to stop this effect. The simplest solution is to restart the
desktop manager with Ctrl+Alt+Backspace (given that this shortcut has been
previously enabled) or a hard reboot hitting the poweroff button in the
computers case.
The causes that trigger this effect are still unknown, however it has been
observed when using firefox and trying to open a recent download, and as well
when click-opening a file within a desktop folder panel.
This problem is very annoying and forces to lose all the work in progress
within the GUI, so I would rate it as severe.
A possible workaround would be to implement a limit in the number of windows
which can be opened in the taskbar at any given time, or either to implement a
detection system which triggers a kill pid signal when more than x (say twelve
or so) number of windows for the same program are being opened within a short
timespan (say, five seconds or so).
Apart from those workarounds, the causes for this effect should be investigated
and fixed. It is possibly triggered when an OnClick mouse event is detected and
chanelled to a graphical desktop application program, like Dolphin.

[Bug 196911] Re: I get endless autostart windows when i plug in my digicam in the front usb pannel

2010-05-31 Thread Aswarp
I hereby report a similar problem happening in Lucid Lynx (KUbuntu 10.04
64bits, fresh install)
I left some files on a panel at the first desktop. They are links to webpages
in Chromiun. When I double click one of those, I get and endless stream of
Konqueror window popups cluttering my task bar. The system opens one or two
windows every second, so I must restart kdm when I get this effect, because it
is really fast, resource consuming and apparently unstoppable.

[Bug 569902] Re: Lucid KDE cannot start session

2010-05-28 Thread Aswarp
I have this same problem in combination with the following:
If I change the theme of the login screen, kubuntu will not get to it, but will
freeze instead at the kubuntu logo.
When I try to logout, restart or shytdown from the K Menu, the system does
nothing.
When I type "sudo shutdown now" or "sudo reboot" at the console terminal, the
system does poweroff, but a blue very low res screen is shown with some messy
data on it.

[Bug 250506] Re: shutdown and restart buttons do nothing

2010-05-21 Thread Aswarp
I have this problem in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04 on KDE.
It is a fresh install with some added packages and non-free drivers for an
Nvidia card.
When clicking shutdown on the K menu, nothing happens. I must resort to console
and shutdown there or push the CPU poweroff button.
And as well, the system wont boot ramdomly, which I have recently reported. I
mean, it freezes at the KUbuntu logo screen, before the login screen.
Vry bad impression of this new "stable" and "solid" release.

Same problem here:
I installed a vanila Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04 and updated everything using
apt-get.
Then I installed KDE and up to this point, everything works normal.
Then I downloaded a couple of login screen themes and switched my default theme
with one of those.
Then trouble started. t first, I viewed the low res logo at boot, with some
aliasing errors. The boot proccess stops there and then I can not even switch
to console mode with Ctrl+Alt+F1, the computer is just frozen.
I tried a trick: inserted the ubuntu cd-rom on drive and hard-rebooted the PC,
then choose "boot from first hard disk" option and then I could log in to mi
KDE desktop.
I reverted my login screen theme back to the default one, and rebooted. Now I
see a splash screen reading "kubuntu" but the computer freezes again, keyboard
is blocked, etc, same as before.
My PC currently only boots when using the CD-in-tray trick.

[Bug 13867] Re: iso9660 not loaded by default. cannot load once system started.

2009-01-06 Thread Aswarp
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 13830 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/13830

Sorry, but bug13830 does not seem like a duplicate for this one. It goes
about Nvidia drivers not loading.

I got the same effect. Some days ago I had some trouble with the cdrom not
automounting on Kubuntu 8.10 and had to mount and unmount it manually.
Susprisingly, I had to use "su" to unmount from a different user account than
the one I mounted it from, or it won't let me.
A couple days later I removed some old kernels from my system to save space
with the usual fools-proof procedure. After that and wothout having rebooted, I
tried to read a cdrom and it would not mount. The CD is detected when put into
the drive, but it does not mount automatically, so I tried to do this manually
with mount -t iso9660... and it would not either.

See my console session:

[Bug 125970] Re: MASTER - slow scroll with image as background-repeat

2009-01-03 Thread Aswarp
I will tell the problems that I am finding with Firefox upon upgrading
to Kubuntu Intrepid Ibex. My system is kubuntu 8.10 with all the updates
for 2008 applied, Nvidia GF6600 with driver 177, Compiz active, dual
core i386 CPU.

Along woth the nasty known bug about right clicking (opens random item), I see
that the images for the firefox tabs are not being rendered correctly on the
screen. I can see an artifact just below some of them, like a grey line 5 to 10
pixels thick on most of the tabs. When I write in a webpage such as in this
launchpad textedit field can not see the cursor, which is very annoying,
specially when one does ctrl+arrow_pad_key in order to scroll some words back
or forth; I have to write to see where the cursor is located, which can cause
some websites operations mistakenly to be activated. Changing from one tab to
another is extremely slow, as scrolling is. Whenever I perform any operation in
firefox, such as opening a menu option, the program freezes for some seconds,
ranging from one to thirty or so, then it performs the operation. I find that I
can make it respond sometimes if I invike yakuake console with F12, detracting
and retracting it back again seems to cause Firefox to update the window
rendering.
All in all, this makes Firefox for me completely useless and really, really
enraging when there is work to be done.
I pray the gods to fix all this rubbish once and for all. My theory is that all
the good firefox developers have escaped to join Google Chrome...

[Bug 278506] Re: Automount partitions in kde 4.1.2

2008-12-30 Thread Aswarp
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 269615 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/269615

Same here:
Some time ago I upgraded to KUbuntu Hardy Heron and was around back then when
the system lost its wonderful automounting capabilities. Now in Intrepid Ibex,
they are still not back to normal.
I can blurrily remember that the automounting of all partitions and disks on
the computer was a default setting un 2006 Ubuntu distributions, and that in
KDe it came along a multipackage one had to install apart which was called
something like kdedesktop-utilities. But only blurrily.
More attention should be paid to the automounting of partitions and drives,
wheter IDE/SCASI/USB/whatever, in order to make the distribution really
accessible to the end user. It gets quite deceiving when a user can access
his/her files on a given previous system, and then has to fight the terminal
war after installing Ubuntu in order to set fstab up and be able to watch last
summer's photographs or whatever.

[Bug 48241] Re: Kubuntu 6.06 final: cannot retrieve an ip via dhcp from my router

2008-12-30 Thread Aswarp
Finally I got a cabled internet connection to complete a full upgrade of
my system. After that, the wireless connection would not work yet
though. I could get a DHCP address from my router by editing my
"interfaces" configuration file in nano from terminal, and then with
ifdown , ifup and asking for an IP with dh-
something . However this would work with the cabled Ethernet
interface (eth0), it would not on the wi-fi interface (wlan0).

The previous DUP! packages seem to come from an scenario when I hade two
woreless ethernet devices both plugged-in to the same machine. I did did
in order to discard the hypothesis of a hardware malfunction or
driver/firmware issue. I can not remember if I had both cards plugged-in
at the time I received those DUPlicate packages but I am pretty sure it
was like that.

My Wi-Fi is still kaput. It will show a zero coverage indicator even
when from then same machine in Windows it shows an almost full coverage
bar. And I can not get a DHCP IP either.

[Bug 37280] Re: "KDEInit could not launch XXXX"

2008-12-29 Thread Aswarp
I got this error and some more:
I recently updated to KUbuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex and somehow got the X up and
running in low res. When I log in to my administrator account I get the
following pop-up message:
<>
The problem is, that when I close the message pop-up, I get authomatically
kicked out of my session to the graphical login screen. If I just minimize the
pop-up, I can still operate in my session.
The program "boincmgr" is a distributed computing software used for sharing CPU
time over the internet for projects such as SETI and LHC. However, as I see in
this thread, people are having similar trouble with other executables, not just
this one.

[Bug 187313] Re: [MASTER] right click (with button release) might activate random popup-menu-item

2008-11-05 Thread Aswarp
The random menu open may be caused because of a wrong pointer to a memory
address cell.
I am always up for a good ranting flame but I will stick myself up to the "too
long bug report" comment.
An interesting issue has been indicated though: the effect happens because the
behaviour (open menu option) is associated with the event OnMouseClick instead
of OnMouseRelease (in Delphi). This may be causing the former, so an idea to
solve the bug is to download Firefox 3 source code, open it on the Eclipse
Integrated Development Environment or whatever Object-Oriented IDE of your
choice, get to the subroutine associated with the bug, and browse for events
associated to the equivalent to OnMouseClick in whatever programming language
it is written in. Switch the event to the correct one (equivalent to
OnMoseRelease), recompile, install, run and cross fingers.
- It it works, notify here, there (the firefox developers team) and everywhere.
- If it doesn't, observe the new behaviour and comment here and there, maybe
perform a few more tests to gather more info.

[Bug 187313] Re: [MASTER] right click (with button release) might activate popup-menu-item

2008-09-02 Thread Aswarp
To give a bit more of information about the bug:
It seems that it meay be somewhat related to the cursor's position capture
method. For if cursor stands still over the link during 2 or 3 seconds and the
the right mouse button is pressed without [X, Y] movement, the correct pop-up
menu is shown (at least most of the times). So it seems that when the click
event is raised, the current, actual position of the cursor is not correctly
captured. Instead, some other [X, Y] coordinates are passed as argument, that
maybe quite far from the place qhere the arrow icon is on screen. for instance,
sometimes I get mi del.icio.us plugin summoned, even when it is located on the
top bar of the mozilla firefox 3 browser window, hundreds of pixels away from
the link I am clicking. So I don't think the [X, Y] argument is really related
to where the position of the cursor was some fraction of a second ago, but
instead, the the algorithm that computes and hands over the coordinates is
wrong.
This bug may be related to strange frozings of the browser that occur when
trying to save an image file to the harddisk, documented as well in Launchapd.
Hope this helps.

[Bug 225477] Re: Firefox crashed while using the save image dialog box

2008-09-01 Thread Aswarp
I found the following problem:
Running Firefox 3 with about a bunch of tabs loaded on KUbunru 8.04.1, Compiz.
I experience quite low performance, specially when writing within textfileds
and using Yahoo mail and Google Reader, the browser will go gray ans stall for
about a minute or so. But the worst of all is when I try to right-click-save an
image: then no folder browser window will pop-up and Firefox will stall
forever. Sometimes, if I kill -9 firefox and reload it again (yes, waiting over
for all the tabs), I am able to save the image, though after a while surfing
the same stalling behaviour repeats itself.

Same problem here. It is quite annoying and very user-unfriendly and easy to
encounter with.
Sometimes, with patience, if I leave the mouse still for a couple of seconds,

it likes (opening tabs, windows, wrong menues, etcetera).

[Bug 262172] Re: Gray square overlaps top-left corner when opening an Mplayer+FireFox3 stream in Toma Internet TV

2008-08-30 Thread Aswarp
Let me see... I can't find that "System Settings/General/Look and
feel/Appearence" menu, remeber however this is KDE and maybe your are talking
about Ubuntu on Gnome.
Under System Settings/General/Appearence are many, many options which don't
seem to be related, nor I do think they are causing the troubling here (Widget
style is Oxygen, by the way).
But... under "System Settings/General/Look and feel/Desktop/Desktop Effects"
is the plugin I signaled before (good shot!).
I disable "All desktop effects", Apply, and...
bingo! Now I can watch video streams without the gray squared area appearing in
front of everything (however with effects turned-off, obviously).
The effects I had active were:
-Zoom
-Logout
-Present Windows
-Dialog parent
-Login
-Minimize animation
-Shadow Translucency
-Fade
-Box switch
-Desktop grid
-Taskbar thumbnails
...and the rest were inactive.

There is yet another observed behaviour which may be realted: when I switch
user X sessions and go back to the one that raised the gray square, I can't get
to see the login popup. It is there, however it does not show (screen is all
black). Sometimes the user/password fields blink there for half a second, then
they go away. The login popup is there but no key I press gets to show it.
Typing some arrow keys and my password blindly I could fortunately log in (I
had some work ongoing on that session and restarting kdm was just not
acceptable). Login fields look good when I try to switch to other user X
sessions without the problem.

I observed screen corruption as well on the left mouse button contextual

Corruption stays for a fraction of a second, and then the correct pixels are
drawn.

I hope there is a way around waiting for Nvidia to fix this, it seems they

I can confirm that the bug occurs only when OpenOffice is active.
There are other problem possibly associated, such as al the "Leave" button
icons not loading correctly (Logout, Lock, Switch User, Shutdown, Restart),
neither the icons in the "End session" modal window.
By the way, it takes far too many mouse click to get outta the session... one
or two less would be nicer.

-Objects that have disappeared do appear suddendly, or on mouse rollover.
-Objects blink from time to time showing background desktop wallpaper.

[Bug 262172] [NEW] Gray square overlaps top-left corner when opening an Mplayer+FireFox3 stream in Toma Internet TV

2008-08-28 Thread Aswarp
Public bug reported:

System: KUbuntu 8.04.1 (KDE4) with all updates as of today, Nvidia GeForce 6600
video card with latest propietary drivers.
Gray square overlaps top-left corner when opening an Mplayer+FireFox3 stream in
Toma Internet TV.

That's it: when I try to run a video stream from the internet television
website "Toma Internet tv" (and other websites which broadcast video) I don't
get the stream loading at the embedded MPlayer window though the corresponding
firefox pop-up window container opens up.
Instead, I get a strange grayed square area which occupies a large portion of
the top left corner of the screen. This square can't be closed or removed even
when I close Firefox and kill -9 both firefox and mplayer. I get rid of it only
by logging out of the session and then logging in again.
By the way, the problem does not happen on the first account I created on
KUbuntu, but only on the second and the third user accounts I created. If I was
to create a fourth account right now, I am pretty sure that it would show the
same wrong behaviour.

when I close Firefox and kill -9 both firefox and mplayer. I get rid of it only
by logging out of the session and then logging in again.
- By the way, the problem does not happen on the first account I created on
KUbuntu, but only on the second and the third user accounts I created. If I was
to create a fourth account right now, I am pretty sure that it would show the
same behaviour.

[Bug 156041] Re: gnome-app-install - "ldconfig deferred processing now taking place" does not end

2008-08-07 Thread Aswarp
The bug may be related to this other one:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/aptitude/+bug/139411
As i said there, I confirm the same problem in KUbuntu 8.04.1 (KDE4):
It seems that the installation ends up good. I usually solve this problem by
opening a console, typing xkill and then clicking the hanged-up window with the
red cross in order to close it.
This problem may be related to a strange behaviour observed in Adept Notifier:
it does appear constantly in the small icons bar saying an update of
"quicktime-...(whatever)" is required, no matter how many times I close it or
apply the update.
I hope in the future we won't have to run every application from kdesu in order
for them to work well (such as Kooka, no offence meant)

[Bug 109727] Re: xscan not connecting with scanner and crashing

2008-08-06 Thread Aswarp
Thank you Hew: As I wrote in my previous message, I run it as root because it
detected my scanner previously this way, and I was in a hurry.
After reinstalling XSane and Kooka I could not login to my kde user account due
to DCOPserver not working properly (and root password misteriously changed,
whoa!). I had to reset the root password then create a new user and overwrite
the /home/user .IC*,.DCOP* files with the new user's ones, followed by a chown
user.user on the files, then removinv the dumb user.
Afterwards I could login to my user account and kooka detected my scanner
correctly.

[Bug 109727] Re: xscan not connecting with scanner and crashing

2008-08-06 Thread Aswarp
I first have this problem (Kooka not detecting mi Epson 1250 USB scanner) on
KUbuntu 8.04. However, my system does correctly detect a Pinnacle Studio PCTV
card.
Then I read some thread about running it as "kdesu kooka" and it started
working for some time. After that I reinstalled KUbuntu but this time to
version 8.04.1 and having separated my "/home" folder onto a different a
partition.
And now kooka does again not detect the scanner even if I run as "kdesu kooka"
or "sudo kooka" from the command line.
I tried to reinstall Xsane and Kooka from Synaptic but this didn't work. Oh,
and by the way I observed that when package reinstallation has finished,
Synaptic window wouldn't close (I had to xkill it).
Now, when I run "kdesu kooka" I get a message telling that "dcopserver is not
running" before Kooka opens up.
Typing "sudo scanimage -L" throws the following output
"
device `v4l:/dev/video0' is a Noname BT878 video (Pinnacle PCTV Stud virtual
device
"
(last line from "device" is blank).
What can I do?
Apart from scanning within Vista, you know...

[Bug 48241] Re: Kubuntu 6.06 final: cannot retrieve an ip via dhcp from my router

2008-07-20 Thread Aswarp
Oh, yet another issue I wanted to comment over:
During the short and ephimereal periods I have my wireless internet connection
working, I get a veru strange happening. Latency times are very high, I mean,
even when I am connected to the 3mb ADSL router being the only user, over a
24mb wifi link. Http access is very slow and all pages take a whole shit load
of time to open, when they do at all. FTP still gets about 50 kbps in average
where it should be much higher (and is, when other systems are connected to the
same gateway). It's a real pain in the ass (no metaphore here)...

[Bug 48241] Re: Kubuntu 6.06 final: cannot retrieve an ip via dhcp from my router

2008-07-20 Thread Aswarp
Hola:
I experience a similar trouble with wireless access within KUbuntu Hardy Heron
v8.04: Wireless internet access sucks, to say the least. I even found basic
ortographic errors in the window text, such as "inhalámbrico" for "inalámbrico".
I recommend this subsystem undergo a very thorough revision. Friends of mine
are downgrading theirs to v7 or v6 due to the internet connection problems this
new release brings.
knetworkmanager and dhcpclient seem to have some programmings bugs. I had to
reinstall them from the CD. Lucky I was I had one near, but some many people
could enter an infinite loop: no internet connection gets no upgrades, and no
upgrades don't solve the connection problems.
Reinstallation somehow worked, but I still have some trouble: I seem to be
connected to the internet through the ADSL wireless router (telefonica) but
after some minutes, Firefox won't open any pages. I am forced to manually
reconnect from knetworkmanager system tray icon every few minutes.
I even got DUPLICATE packets when I ping! What's going on? (details below).
A handheld Linux device of my own (N770) in the same room connects to that very
same router without effort.
I therefore ask (beg) the developers for an inmediate, heavy revision of this
subsystem which is a very important one and one of the keys to transmitting a
good impression of the distro so as many people as possible adopt it as their
own. Adding a user-friendly Wireless Internet Connection Wizard won't harm much
either...

[Bug 239274] Re: after installing firefox-3.0 beta 5 through synaptic, virtually every page comes accompanied with a huge assert window

2008-07-16 Thread Aswarp
Got the same error on Hardy Heron. I apparently fixed it with the
following procedure:

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get dist-upgrade
reboot
recompile NVIDIA driver for the new kernel
overwrite xorg.conf with previously backedup working version
(the two latter I have to do every time the kernel, or the X server get updated)
reboot

Now i've got 3.01 release of Firefox and everything seems to be working
fine, with no annoying messages every time I blink :)

2008-06-19 Thread Aswarp
It is just a theory but I think that the freezing of the Operating System could
be somehow related to microprocessor, harddisks, memory or motherboard
overheating.
If that was the case, the term "freezing" would be completely inaacurate (I a m
trying to find my sense of humour about it however it is not funny at all when
you have been working heavily and Hardy gets harder...)

Hoever, not always. If I use "free -m" just before watching the video, KUbuntu

Oh, and it got hanged up in different situations as well... it seems to me that
this bug is somehow related to a low memory/swap/disk space circumstance.
Any clue/patch/fix for this?

[Bug 219345] Re: random freezes on Ubunt Hardy Heron

2008-06-12 Thread Aswarp
I have this problem as well which by the way I would tag as critical and has
IMHO very bad effect on Hardy's perceived image of stability. I don't even get
a BSOD, just... nothing.
I am running KUbuntu Hardy Heron with Compiz, NVIDIA latest official driver
(GeForce 6600) on a 8 GB partition. It seems that the freezing problem started
happening around the time when I run low on disk space, but not quite sure. The
I freed up some space by removing already installed packages within Synaptic.
But the systems continues to freeze randomly. The screen keeps showing what it
has got but the mouse does not move nor can I use the keyboard. Trying to get a
console access with Ctrl+Alt+F# does not work either, obviously. So I must do a
hard reboot EVERY time.

It seems that the system stays for longer time before freezing if I perform a
"free -m" periodically, every five minutes or so, but I never know when the
system is going to get frozen and I keep bleedin'...
What can I do?
