[Bug 594705] Re: avidemux crash when saving
Avidemux crashes for me too. Here is how to reproduce the trouble: I Load a *.VOB file generated with a conventional digital video camera, which is stored under a secondary hard drive within the VIDEO_TS folder. I set the 'A' and 'B' marks in order to export a cropped portion to any format, such as plain AVI (but tried some others). I leave the Video and Audio settings set to 'copy'. then I try to save the project, choosing a folder on the harddisk disk (I tried same disk and a different one and checked that it can be both read and written). then the app throws an exception and crashes with the following message: Crash Assert failed :0 at line 386, file /build/buildd/avidemux-2.5.4/avidemux/ADM_encoder/adm_encConfig.cppADM_backTrack videoCodecGetMode() ADM_Composer::saveAsScript(char const*, char const*) saveCrashProject() ADM_backTrack videoCodecGetMode() ADM_Composer::saveAsScript(char const*, char const*) A_saveWorkbench(char const*) FileSel_ReadWrite(void (*)(char const*), int, char const*, char const*) /usr/bin/avidemux() [0x8164cb9] GUI_FileSelWrite(char const*, void (*)(char const*)) HandleAction(Action) guiCallback(_GtkMenuItem*, void*) g_cclosure_marshal_VOID__VOID g_closure_invoke g_signal_emit_valist g_signal_emit gtk_widget_activate gtk_menu_shell_activate_item -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/594705 Title: avidemux crash when saving To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/avidemux/+bug/594705/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 590672] [NEW] Blue pixels upon boot
Public bug reported: With no apparent cause, when booting from time to time one gets a bunch of blue pixels on top of a black background before arriving to the KDE login screen in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx. Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to restart the k graphical manager has no effect, even when it was previously activated for this distribution. Ctrl+F1 does not grant access to a console terminal. the only course of action is rebooting. From time to time, this black screen with blue corrupted pixels will be shown and the the login screen will come up, while other days it just gets stuck. [Bug 589263] [NEW] Endless windows open at the KDE taskbar in Lucid Lynx, forcing restart
Public bug reported: Endless windows open at the KDE taskbar in Lucid Lynx, forcing restart: In different circumstances, describe below, endless application windows open in the KDE taskbar in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx with KDE. The application which is being opened in an infinite loop seems to be a file manager, probably the default file manager, which in my case i think it it Dolphin. Its icon can not be distinguished at the task bar, which gets cluttered in a matter of seconds. The rest of the user interface does not respond or responds too slowly to be of any use in order to stop this effect. The simplest solution is to restart the desktop manager with Ctrl+Alt+Backspace (given that this shortcut has been previously enabled) or a hard reboot hitting the poweroff button in the computers case. The causes that trigger this effect are still unknown, however it has been observed when using firefox and trying to open a recent download, and as well when click-opening a file within a desktop folder panel. This problem is very annoying and forces to lose all the work in progress within the GUI, so I would rate it as severe. A possible workaround would be to implement a limit in the number of windows which can be opened in the taskbar at any given time, or either to implement a detection system which triggers a kill pid signal when more than x (say twelve or so) number of windows for the same program are being opened within a short timespan (say, five seconds or so). Apart from those workarounds, the causes for this effect should be investigated and fixed. It is possibly triggered when an OnClick mouse event is detected and chanelled to a graphical desktop application program, like Dolphin. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Endless windows open at the KDE taskbar in Lucid Lynx, forcing restart https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/589263 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 125970] Re: MASTER - slow scroll with image as background-repeat
I will tell the problems that I am finding with Firefox upon upgrading to Kubuntu Intrepid Ibex. My system is kubuntu 8.10 with all the updates for 2008 applied, Nvidia GF6600 with driver 177, Compiz active, dual core i386 CPU. Along woth the nasty known bug about right clicking (opens random item), I see that the images for the firefox tabs are not being rendered correctly on the screen. I can see an artifact just below some of them, like a grey line 5 to 10 pixels thick on most of the tabs. When I write in a webpage such as in this launchpad textedit field can not see the cursor, which is very annoying, specially when one does ctrl+arrow_pad_key in order to scroll some words back or forth; I have to write to see where the cursor is located, which can cause some websites operations mistakenly to be activated. Changing from one tab to another is extremely slow, as scrolling is. Whenever I perform any operation in firefox, such as opening a menu option, the program freezes for some seconds, ranging from one to thirty or so, then it performs the operation. I find that I can make it respond sometimes if I invike yakuake console with F12, detracting and retracting it back again seems to cause Firefox to update the window rendering. All in all, this makes Firefox for me completely useless and really, really enraging when there is work to be done. I pray the gods to fix all this rubbish once and for all. [Bug 187313] Re: [MASTER] right click (with button release) might activate random popup-menu-item
The random menu open may be caused because of a wrong pointer to a memory address cell. I am always up for a good ranting flame but I will stick myself up to the "too long bug report" comment. An interesting issue has been indicated though: the effect happens because the behaviour (open menu option) is associated with the event OnMouseClick instead of OnMouseRelease (in Delphi). This may be causing the former, so an idea to solve the bug is to download Firefox 3 source code, open it on the Eclipse Integrated Development Environment or whatever Object-Oriented IDE of your choice, get to the subroutine associated with the bug, and browse for events associated to the equivalent to OnMouseClick in whatever programming language it is written in. Switch the event to the correct one (equivalent to OnMoseRelease), recompile, install, run and cross fingers. - It it works, notify here, there (the firefox developers team) and everywhere. - If it doesn't, observe the new behaviour and comment here and there, maybe perform a few more tests to gather more info. -- [MASTER] right click (with button release) might activate random popup-menu-item https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/187313 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 187313] Re: [MASTER] right click (with button release) might activate popup-menu-item
To give a bit more of information about the bug: It seems that it meay be somewhat related to the cursor's position capture method. For if cursor stands still over the link during 2 or 3 seconds and the the right mouse button is pressed without [X, Y] movement, the correct pop-up menu is shown (at least most of the times). So it seems that when the click event is raised, the current, actual position of the cursor is not correctly captured. Instead, some other [X, Y] coordinates are passed as argument, that maybe quite far from the place qhere the arrow icon is on screen. for instance, sometimes I get mi del.icio.us plugin summoned, even when it is located on the top bar of the mozilla firefox 3 browser window, hundreds of pixels away from the link I am clicking. So I don't think the [X, Y] argument is really related to where the position of the cursor was some fraction of a second ago, but instead, the the algorithm that computes and hands over the coordinates is wrong. This bug may be related to strange frozings of the browser that occur when trying to save an image file to the harddisk, documented as well in Launchapd. I found the following problem: Running Firefox 3 with about a bunch of tabs loaded on KUbunru 8.04.1, Compiz. I experience quite low performance, specially when writing within textfileds and using Yahoo mail and Google Reader, the browser will go gray ans stall for about a minute or so. [Bug 262172] Re: Gray square overlaps top-left corner when opening an Mplayer+FireFox3 stream in Toma Internet TV
Let me see... I can't find that "System Settings/General/Look and feel/Appearence" menu, remeber however this is KDE and maybe your are talking about Ubuntu on Gnome. Under System Settings/General/Appearence are many, many options which don't seem to be related, nor I do think they are causing the troubling here (Widget style is Oxygen, by the way). But... under "System Settings/General/Look and feel/Desktop/Desktop Effects" is the plugin I signaled before (good shot!). I disable "All desktop effects", Apply, and... bingo! Now I can watch video streams without the gray squared area appearing in front of everything (however with effects turned-off, obviously). The effects I had active were: -Zoom -Logout -Present Windows -Dialog parent -Login -Minimize animation -Shadow Translucency -Fade -Box switch -Desktop grid -Taskbar thumbnails ...and the rest were inactive. There is yet another observed behaviour which may be realted: when I switch user X sessions and go back to the one that raised the gray square, I can't get to see the login popup. It is there, however it does not show (screen is all black). Sometimes the user/password fields blink there for half a second, then they go away. The login popup is there but no key I press gets to show it. Typing some arrow keys and my password blindly I could fortunately log in (I had some work ongoing on that session and restarting kdm was just not acceptable). Login fields look good when I try to switch to other user X sessions without the problem. -- Gray square overlaps top-left corner when opening an Mplayer+FireFox3 stream in Toma Internet TV https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/262172 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 48241] Re: Kubuntu 6.06 final: cannot retrieve an ip via dhcp from my router
Hola: I experience a similar trouble with wireless access within KUbuntu Hardy Heron v8.04: Wireless internet access sucks, to say the least. I even found basic ortographic errors in the window text, such as "inhalámbrico" for "inalámbrico". I recommend this subsystem undergo a very thorough revision. Friends of mine are downgrading theirs to v7 or v6 due to the internet connection problems this new release brings. knetworkmanager and dhcpclient seem to have some programmings bugs. I had to reinstall them from the CD. Lucky I was I had one near, but some many people could enter an infinite loop: no internet connection gets no upgrades, and no upgrades don't solve the connection problems. Reinstallation somehow worked, but I still have some trouble: I seem to be connected to the internet through the ADSL wireless router (telefonica) but after some minutes, Firefox won't open any pages. I am forced to manually reconnect from knetworkmanager system tray icon every few minutes. I even got DUPLICATE packets when I ping! What's going on? (details below). A handheld Linux device of my own (N770) in the same room connects to that very same router without effort.
I therefore ask (beg) the developers for an inmediate, heavy revision of this subsystem which is a very important one and one of the keys to transmitting a good impression of the distro so as many people as possible adopt it as their own. [Bug 239274] Re: after installing firefox-3.0 beta 5 through synaptic, virtually every page comes accompanied with a huge assert window
Got the same error on Hardy Heron. I apparently fixed it with the following procedure: apt-get update apt-get upgrade apt-get dist-upgrade reboot recompile NVIDIA driver for the new kernel overwrite xorg.conf with previously backedup working version (the two latter I have to do every time the kernel, or the X server get updated) reboot Now i've got 3.01 release of Firefox and everything seems to be working fine, with no annoying messages every time I blink :) -- after installing firefox-3.0 beta 5 through synaptic, virtually every page comes accompanied with a huge assert window https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/239274 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I updated the kernel and xserver-xorg (en dof june released version) and have not had this problem again. Oh, yes, my X graphical desktop stopped working but I fixed it by reinstalling the nvidia drivers. There is a thorougher explanation of what I did afterwards in the following link. [Bug 219345] Re: random freezes on Ubunt Hardy Heron
It is just a theory but I think that the freezing of the Operating System could be somehow related to microprocessor, harddisks, memory or motherboard overheating. I could reproduce the frozing when playing a lengthy HD vídeo online, for instance at www.vimeo.com. Hoever, not always. If I use "free -m" just before watching the video, KUbuntu does not always freeze. [Bug 219345] Re: random freezes on Ubunt Hardy Heron
I have this problem as well which by the way I would tag as critical and has IMHO very bad effect on Hardy's perceived image of stability. I don't even get a BSOD, just... nothing. I am running KUbuntu Hardy Heron with Compiz, NVIDIA latest official driver (GeForce 6600) on a 8 GB partition. It seems that the freezing problem started happening around the time when I run low on disk space, but not quite sure. The I freed up some space by removing already installed packages within Synaptic. But the systems continues to freeze randomly. The screen keeps showing what it has got but the mouse does not move nor can I use the keyboard. Trying to get a console access with Ctrl+Alt+F# does not work either, obviously. So I must do a hard reboot EVERY time. It seems that the system stays for longer time before freezing if I perform a "free -m" periodically, every five minutes or so, but I never know when the system is going to get frozen and I keep bleedin'...
