[Bug 148704] Firefox does not start when visual effects are set to none
Public bug reported: Hello, When I install Ubuntu 7.10, install all the updates and start Firefox it will run fine. Now when I go to System->Preferences->Appearance->Visual Effects And select : none I can no longer start firefox, it only shows up for a moment in Gnome-panel- 'Starting ' then the button disappears from panel and nothing happens. When I select Normal for visual effects, it works again... I am able to start open office, geany, kompozer or whatever when the effects are set to none. [Bug 134061] Re: brasero hangs on calculating size when burning audio
Hello Luis, I just tested Brasero with gstreamer-fluendo-mp3 on Hardy Alpha 2, Steps: Create new audio compilation-> then I add a mixture of MP3 and OGG files.. When I add them to the compilation Brasero obviously tries to save them in some sort of wav format for the burn. But some files juest keep saying: loading... and the ' hourglass' mouse poimnter stays. When I push the burn button it will say "Please wait, some tasks are not completed." This takes more then 5-10 minutes. Waiting any longer is useless since in k3b the CD would have been ready. This can be a codec issue, although if it is, it should be adressed if more people are having this. (Since ubuntu is not for power users) or something else. But it does not say anything in the terminal beside: I/O warning : failed to load external entity "/home/ubuntu/.gnome2/brasero.session" (on the live cd) I am currently using k3b (since that added the option " number of copies" before brasero did. And the above problem has been around for some time.) Re: [Bug 134061] Re: brasero hangs on calculating size when burning audio
Yes, I don't know if brasero does anything fancy with the hardware. As said I am running ubuntu i386 on an intel 64 bit system. So that or the codec problem. Maybe it's an idea to integrate a timer in Brasero that show a dialog after an amount of time. Showing debug info (last command runned etc). And a way to send it back to devel... gives also an idea of the size of the problem. Because now it doesn't say anything... makes it hard to debug if you don't have the time to run it from an IDE GDB or something. (Which I don't know about, and lack the time for) Thanks anyway, Regards, Barry > I can't reproduce this bug but i'll research about your problem it might > be a codec problem somewhere yes. > > Thanks > > -- > brasero hangs on calculating size when burning audio > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134061 > You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber > of the bug. > ___ | _|_ | | | | |Do not end in hieroglyphs | |_|http://www.barrydegraaff.tk/openformats| |___| -- brasero hangs on calculating size when burning audio https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134061 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 134061] Re: brasero hangs on calculating size when burning audio
Hi Saïvann, The original bug was that Brasero dialog said that the size is being calculated. And that lasted forever. I haven't seen that problem anymore in the last version. So I think that one is resolved. So this morning I enabled gutsy backports (so not using the live CD anymore) and tried to burn 15 MP3's to an audio CD. That worked without a flaw. Still a bit slower than K3b. But no problems. Then I threw in that directory I told you about yesterday. 51 burnable items. That worked also... So I think that is good news. Brasero is still a fine program for less- geek users... I will install it this week for somebody. So I think the bug of yesterday is only in the Live CD or in Hardy A5... I will ask my colleague if we have a PC that can run the Alpha on a hard-drive. But we are also testing some Debian stuff... so I don't know if we have anything available. Let me know if you wish to track the new bug in the live cd. Anyway I find the original bug closed. -- brasero hangs on calculating size when burning audio https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134061 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 134061] Re: brasero hangs on calculating size when burning audio
And the above problem has been around for some time.) Hi Saïvann, The original bug was that Brasero dialog said that the size is being calculated. Re: [Bug 134061] Re: brasero hangs on calculating size when burning audio
