[Bug 250079] Re: Random System freezes when aMule is installed
Don't know if the bug i'm experiencing is the same. The system freezes, hard lockup, (no log entries) almost randomly. The freezes happen more frequently when amule is open. I got this bug since i changed hardware Motherboard: Asus M2R32-MVP Integrated ethernet card: Marvell 88E8001 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (Asus) CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ Graphic card: GeForce 7600 GT I can exclude the bug it related to hard disks, ram, and power supply. The test i made transferring locally large file, or a lot of small files, didn't triggered the freeze. The ram test (24 hours) didn't triggered the bug either. I changed the power supply but the bug is still there. I think the bug can be related to the ethernet card (skge kernel module) or to the graphic card. @sedesc: Is the same bug? any hardware component is the same? -- Random System freezes when aMule is installed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/250079 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Problems: - Some opengl applications, once started (180 fsp), become choppy and unusable (something like 5fps), even if the application itself is displaying the same frame rate (180 fps). Cpu usage is normal. - Sometimes mouse clicks do not work. i have to alt-tab to make the windows respond to mouse clicks. - Scrolling in firefox with the mouse wheel is very choppy (1fps). Using the lateral slide bar is ok. - Scrolling man pages in gnome- terminal with keys is choppy too. Scrolling in the text terminal is ok. - I'm getting multiple key strokes in normal typing (lliikke thhisss). - starting an application from gnome-panel quick start icons, the blue windows outline that comes from the icon and expands to the screen is often very slow (2fps for a total of 2 seconds). [Bug 75055] Re: Sata disk not identified during install (Ati sb600)
With 2.6.20 kernel I'm suffering of another bug (probably unrelated) https://launchpad.net/bugs/86169 that causes a kernel panic. Currently I'm booting with the option acpi=off (that resolves the panic) and pci=nomsi (to get the disk recognized). I tried both pci=noacpi and acpi=noirq with and without acpi=off. If i omit acpi=off i get a kernel panic with both options. If i use acpi=off with both options the disk is not recognized as described above. [Bug 86028] non-stop distribution upgrade
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager I've just upgraded with update-manager from edgy to feisty. During the dist upgrade, some of the packages asks questions about the configuration files (substitute or keep, etc...) and the installation of the subsequent packages stops. This requires the user to check if the process is waiting for an answer (and it will take much longer to complete). I think the upgrade should be non-stop and only in the end it should ask the questions. ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- non-stop distribution upgrade https://launchpad.net/bugs/86028 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 86169] Re: Kernel panic acpi related
The bios is up to date (v0804 - 2007/01/26). It crashed also with previous bios version (712 if i remember correctly). No crash with edgy kernel (2.6.17-10 and 11). I tried also the first feisty beta (2.6.19 i think) and i had similar behavior (kernel panic with MCFG area is not e820-reserved) and the same fix (acpi=off) was working. I'm booting with the option pci=nomsi because otherwise the sata disk is not recognized. ** Attachment added: dmesg http://librarian.launchpad.net/6467378/dmesg.log -- Kernel panic acpi related https://launchpad.net/bugs/86169 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 75055] Sata disk not identified during install (Ati sb600)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic Sata disk not identified during install boot. Ubuntu Edgy x86-64 Motherboard: Asus M2R32-MVP (Latest bios) Sata controller: Ati sb600 The kernel sees that the disk is plugged but fails to identify it. I tried every bios sata setup: Native IDE, Legacy IDE, AHCI. I tried also the feisty beta, but i get kernel panic (MCFG area is not e820-reserved). I overcame the panic with acpi=off. The disk however is not detected. I tried also OpenSuse 10.2 (kernel 2.6.18) and the disk is not found.
