[Bug 537474] [NEW] Clock menu is different color from other menus
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: light-themes Love the new light themes but, I've noticed that the clock menu (showing the calendar, time zones, tasks etc) is light grey while all the other menus are dark (as I am using the Ambiance theme). The clock menu would be hard to darken, but it kinda sits at odds with all the other menus at the moment. [Bug 536955] Re: On startup IndicatorApplet & FastUserSwitchApplet fail on startup
Ok, I solved my problem, but it was a bit weird... Yes, that is correct I didn't have 'gvfs'. It was broken: """ Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: gvfs: Depends: libgdu0 (>= 2.29.90) but 2.28.0+git20091012-0ubuntu1 is to be installed Recommends: gvfs-backends but it is not going to be installed E: Broken packages """ So, I followed this to 'udisks' which depends on libparted0 (>=2.2-1). I disabled all 3rd party repos and manually installed 'libparted0'. This caused 'devicekit-disks' and 'libparted1.8-12' to be removed and I was then able to install 'gvfs'. Now my fancy little applets work. -- On startup IndicatorApplet & FastUserSwitchApplet fail on startup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/536955 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 501201] [NEW] Trouble with subtitles and "Start playing files from last position"
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox This is not a bug in the program's function, but rather an odd way for it to function: >I have "Start playing files from last position" checked in the Preferences >menu. >I load a video file with subtitles and let it play for some time, then close Rhythmbox. >Double-clicking the same file again will start the video file playback as expected, but without subtitles. >Loading the subtitles causes the file to restart playback from the beginning of the file. So, this would defeat the purpose of having my file start from the last played position. I think this could be more user friendly in a few possible ways: 1) have subtitle files load automatically when "Start playing files from last position" is selected. 2) when loading subtitles, have the film resume from its original position, rather than restarting the file. I have lost data and moved to Dropbox because of this. I was so angry (as you can see by the angry face in the report title). I was slowly easing into U1. [Bug 461577] Re: [Karmic] Internal microphone does not record sound on a Dell Studio XPS w/ Intel 82801H HD Audio Controller
I have this report against "linux" package. But, can get my mic to work to one degree or another by changing "Input Source" from "Mic" to "Digital Mic" in alsamixer. The trouble with this is that whenever I power-down my system, this setting returns to the default "Mic". I've hacked-out a simple solution. I'll try to make it n00bie friendly, but do this at your own risk. Make a new bash script with this as the contents: #! /usr/bin/env bash amixer -q set 'Input Source' 'Digital Mic' And that's it. Save it as scriptnamehere.sh, and make it executable, either with the command line: chmod +x scriptnamehere.sh Or, you right-click on the file, select "Properties", hit the "Permissions" tab, and then check-off "Allow executing file as program". Now lets have this script run when the system starts up every time, go to System>Preferences>'Startup Applications'. Add this new script with the "add" button and select it but browsing for the .sh file we just made. -- [Karmic] Internal microphone does not record sound on a Dell Studio XPS w/ Intel 82801H HD Audio Controller https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/461577 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 449781] Re: [Karmic] Internal microphone does not record sound on a Dell Studio XPS
"alsa-driver" is a package that is not installed on these systems. I have started a new report (bug#461577) for Intel 82801H HD Audio Controllers. You should be able to find your audio card by typing the command: lspci | grep 'Audio' If that command gives you nothing, just do 'lspci' and go swimming for any output that looks audio related. :-) Also note, I have a quick and dirty hack that gets my mic working for the most part. [Bug 461577] [NEW] [Karmic] Internal microphone does not record sound on a Dell Studio XPS w/ Intel 82801H HD Audio Controller
Public bug reported: This is for Karmic Release Candidate amd64. This is related to bug#449781, according to that bug report, a fix has been release for that particular audio card. This report is for the same issue but for the Intel 82801H HD Audio Controller. As that bug reports: "After installing the latest Karmic image from alternate (20091012) on a Dell Studio XPS (Jolie MKL), the microphone does not seem to record sound. I went to the sound properties, into the input device tab, made sure that the input volume was not muted and that the input volume was set correctly. I noticed that the input level bars were all grey though, if that helps. Then, I ran the checkbox test for audio and there was no sound recorded. The output device works fine." [Bug 458631] [NEW] OOwriter crash when notes on captions
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org This is a bit complicated. I believe this is related to having notes on captions in .odt files. Notes float at the top of each page and are not connected to the point where the note was made (there are the dashed lines but they don't connect anywhere). Any caption which had a note on it, no longer appears, and trying to add a caption again causes the program to crash. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client Starting U1 or configuring Tomboy notes to sync (especially this) causes U1 to request that I register my current computer with my account. A large number of registrations to the same computer have accumulated on my account and I have to go through and clean them out ever now and then. [Bug 448807] Re: applet has box around it after returning from screensaver
@ VP Nope, this is invalid. This was a bug about the indicator applet and not the "Notification Area". The original screenshot I posted shows what the applet looks like when you have unread messages. As you can see in the screenshot I just attached (see the red arrow), the applet loses its box when I've read all my messages. This is ~not~ an error from the window redrawing, as I thought it originally was. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox This is on Karmic Beta (amd64) using Rhythmbox 0.12.5: When I transfer audio over to my MTP device (A Samsung YP-U3), with every track I transfer, an error window pops up and announces: "Media player device error: LIBMTP_Send_Representative_Sample(): object type doesn't support RepresentativeSampleData." [Bug 448309] [NEW] GNOME do launches with opened Guest Session
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-do I'm on Karmic. I'm have my GNOME-do set so that it silently launches whenever I log in. I recently launched a Guest Session when somone wanted to use my computer and the classic GNOME-do interface popped-up in the guest session. Shouldn't our "open on launch" option only apply to the current user account and not the entire system? I don't ever recall typing 'sudo' to give GNOME-do the right to make this change system wide. I haven't tried this with other permanent user accounts. Perhaps this has something to do with the way that the default guest session is created in Ubuntu, in which case, this bug should be moved to a different package. But this has only been an issue with GNOME-do. [Bug 433651] [NEW] no text wrap in IRC chat
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: empathy I'm on Karmic Alpha 6. When I type text in an IRC chat window, the text ~does not~ wrap, instead the window grows. I haven't noticed this in any other chat protocols (yet), just IRC. It would be nice if the text wrapped. :-) ** Affects: empathy (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- no text wrap in IRC chat https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/433651 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 432242] [NEW] M1330: Broadcom wlan detected but no jockey...?
Public bug reported: I'm running an updated Ubuntu Karmic Alpha 6 on a Dell XPS M1330. As far as I could tell, installation went smoothly. But I have no wifi. My card is a Broadcom 4312. Jockey has not popped-up as it normally would to tell me that freedom-hating drivers are available. If I run jockey manually, it shows nothing. dmesg suggests that the kernel has detected the card (I think...?) but ... I'm not sure what's going wrong, nor which package this falls under. One more thing: the "wifi" light on my keyboard is ~not~ on. ...(the toggle turning wifi on and off, is in the "on" position.) ** Affects: jockey (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- M1330: Broadcom wlan detected but no jockey...? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/432242 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 323153] Re: the search icon is very fuzzy
I'm put this bug up with the "human-theme" package (I'm not sure I did it right, so if I've mucked it up, someone please correct). Changing the icon set you're using from "Human" to something like "Tango" clears up the icon and it looks fine. It would be nice to get this taken care of... it would make GNOME-do look prettier on the default Ubuntu install. -- the search icon is very fuzzy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/323153 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
