[Bug 1630413] Re: segfault in server/mpm/event/event.c:process_socket

2017-09-05 Thread Christophe Meron
I would have wanted to provide the full chain of the reproducer, but
days has already passed, here is the information i can provide for now:

I reproduce the crash with a simple:
rm failed; for i in $(seq 200); do (curl -qo /dev/null "$URL" || touch failed)
& done

A single run usually is enough, rarely two. In addition to the curl
failure and 'failed' file, there's a error line in Apache's error.log

I used the attached script for the consistency checks, tried with and
without the sleep.

I run all of thoses with our closed source daemon as the backend behind fastcgi
with the following directive parameters:
FastCgiExternalServer /var/www/proxy -host 127.0.0.1:1 -flush -idle-timeout
300

So you should be able to reproduce if you have some kind of stub behind
fastcgi, which you maybe already have ?

[Bug 1630413] Re: segfault in server/mpm/event/event.c:process_socket

2017-08-31 Thread Christophe Meron
Hi Brian,
I finally did some functional testing

With 2 differents clients (!= IPs), i started on each of them 100
parrallel GETs, targeting 3 different files. I ran this in a loop with
some randomness for an hour and it didnt raised any crash nor
consistency mismatch on thoses fetched files

I didnt do any checks on headers nor tested anything else than PUTs but it
gives a first idea
Tell me if you had anything else in mind

[Bug 1630413] Re: segfault in server/mpm/event/event.c:process_socket

2017-08-25 Thread Christophe Meron
Good news, it seems good this time !

I almost always reproduced the segfault with a single run of my script
(which spawn 200 parrallel requests on a file on our daemon behind
fastcgi). Once i had to run it twice to reproduce.

With your last version, i didnt had any crash for 100 consecutives runs
of the script or when increasing parrallelism

Apport done.

I understand the 2 lines : one snap and one deb.

But today it's absolutly confusing. It's important to insist about a
clear presentation of what you install.

I'm nearly sure that 90% of ubunteros don't know what is a snap package.

Excuse me, but Jeremy Bicha (jbicha) ask me
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1711728)
to DON'T creat the bug in gnome-software, but in the specific package of
the application.

Christophe.

Please file individual bugs against those apps and add the tag
'appstream'. If you can find the upstream bug tracker for a specific
app, it would probably be useful to file a bug there too.

I'm closing this bug because it's not specific enough to be fixed.

[Bug 1692073] Re: check_clamav test fails

2017-08-17 Thread jean-christophe manciot
Building 0.99.2+dfsg-6ubuntu2 in **Zesty**:

dpkg-shlibdeps: error: no dependency information found for
/usr/lib/libxml2.so.2 (used by
debian/libclamav7/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libclamav.so.7.1.1)
Hint: check if the library actually comes from a package.
dh_shlibdeps: dpkg-shlibdeps -Tdebian/libclamav7.substvars
debian/libclamav7/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libclamav.so.7.1.1 returned exit

debian/rules:71: recipe for target 'binary' failed
make: *** [binary] Error 25
dpkg-buildpackage: error: fakeroot debian/rules binary gave error exit status 2

Although:
# apt-cache policy libxml2-dev
libxml2-dev:
  Installed: 2.9.4+dfsg1-2.2

It turns out that the requested file does not exist in Zesty:
# apt-file search /usr/lib/libxml2.so.2
#

However, the same requested lib file is offered in another location by libxml2:
1) in Zesty:
---
# apt-file search libxml2.so.2
...
libxml2: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxml2.so.2
...

2) in Artful:

# dpkg --contents libxml2_2.9.4+dfsg1-3build2_amd64.deb | grep libxml2.so.2
-rw-r--r-- root/root 1801528 2017-08-02 22:08

./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxml2.so.2 -> libxml2.so.2.9.4

In both Ubuntu releases, the file libxml2.so.2 is located in:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu

[Bug 1692073] Re: check_clamav test fails

2017-07-13 Thread jean-christophe manciot
I tried to build it with:

apt-cache policy llvm
llvm:
  Installed: 1:4.0-34ubuntu2

I also had no issue when building from the exact same clamav sources
(0.99.2+dfsg-6) while on Ubuntu yakkety which uses llvm-3.9.

It seems that the issue originates from incompatibility(ies) between
clamav and llvm-4.0.

[Bug 1690898] [NEW] s-nail alternatives missing in zesty

2017-05-15 Thread Christophe Lyon
Public bug reported:

Hello,
Until Ubuntu 16.10, I had alternatives pointing to s-nail (mail, mailx, ),
which is no longer the case after I upgraded to 17.04.

Now, I have alternatives pointing to mailutils (which got installed when
I installed google-earth-stable).

My problem being that the replacement is not 100% compatible. Is this is
bug in s-nail, or a feature of the new version?

I tried to uninstall mailutils, uninstall+re-install s-nail but this did
recreate the alternative links.

[Bug 1622306] Re: Scanning from CanoScan Lide 120 results in black pages only

2017-05-11 Thread Christophe Olivé
Hello, all.

Scanner CanoScan Lide 120 is detected but doesn't work with Simplescan
or Xsane. Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

May be because The sane-genesys library implements a SANE (Scanner
Access Now Easy) backend that provides access to USB flatbed scanners
based on the Genesys GL646, GL841, GL843, GL847 and GL124 chips.

the canoscan Lide 120 is based on a GL848+ !

not supported !!!

thanks to see that.

[Bug 1673701] Re: Indicator does not always close its drop down menu when clicking on it

2017-03-17 Thread Christophe Bourez
** Description changed:

- > Actual and expected behaviour description:
- When clicking on an indicator icon (network, envelop, sound ...), it opens
its drop down menu and re-clicking on it without moving the mouse outside
closes the menu, which is the expected behaviour.
- When clicking on the bluetooth indicator icon, it opens its menu, but
reclicking on it does not close it. Worse, it impacts the other indicator icons
to behave this way, forcing to move the mouse outside the notification icons
area in order to close the dropped down menu.
+ > Actual and expected behavior description:
+ When clicking on an indicator icon (network, envelop, sound ...), it opens
its drop down menu and re-clicking on it without moving the mouse does not
systematically close the menu. By moving the mouse over the half upper area of
the icon, I manage to close the menu.
+ The expected behavior would be to close the dropped down menu wherever one
clicks on the indicator icon area.

Got same issue after an upgrade from Ubuntu 14.04 to 16.04 and the
following actions solved the problem :

sudo pam-auth-update --force
sudo vi/etc/pam.d/lightdm

=> add following lines at the end :
session required pam_loginuid.so
session required pam_systemd.so

sudo reboot

[Bug 1665306] [NEW] Install spice-vdagent if installing witih QXL video driver

2017-02-16 Thread Christophe de Dinechin
Public bug reported:

Running Ubuntu as a guest in virt-manager is not comfortable, because
the spice-vdagent is not installed by default on Ubuntu. Among the side
effects: the mouse remains captured within the guest until you hit
Control-Alt; there is no copy-paste support; resizing the window does
not change the guest resolution; etc.

One solution would be to enable spice-vdagent by default. If that is not
acceptable, one hint that spice-vdagent may be useful is when the
installer runs on QXL video. It is likely to indicate that the
installation is in a virtual machine, and that installing spice-vdagent
would be useful.

[Bug 1661992] [NEW] postfix race condition with DHCP, copies an empty resolv.conf

2017-02-05 Thread Christophe Lyon
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I think there is a race condition at startup between postfix and DHCP
(or the network startup code), leading to an empty copy of resolv.conf.

Specifically, I'm running Ubuntu 16.10 on an x86_64 workstation, which
gets its network configuration via DHCP.

I am also using postfix, and since "a few weeks", the outgoing mails are
pending in the mail queue until I do 'service postfix restart', which
updates postfix's copy of resolv.conf in
/var/spool/postfix/etc/resolv.conf.

When I say since "a few weeks", it's because I'm not exactly sure when
the problem appeared, but for sure it used to work. I'd say the problem
appeared when I upgraded from 16.04 to 16.10.

[Bug 1656836] Re: No more keyboard shortcut for inserting the date?

2017-01-16 Thread Christophe Combelles
** Description changed:

I just switched from Debian Jessie to Stretch and I use gnote a lot, for
everything (I have more than 500 notes).

something, just by hitting Ctrl-D.

With the new version (gnote 3.22) I cannot do that anymore. The date

- Is it intentionnal? Did I miss another shortcut ?

[Bug 1593869] Re: do-release-upgrade crashed with ValueError in update_interface(): could not convert string to float: '0, 0000'

2017-01-10 Thread Christophe Romain
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1592817 ***

I faced this issue as well.
it was solved with python3-distupgrade 16.04.19
and reapeared with python3-distupgrade 16.04.20

temporary solution "that works for me" is to force installation of
python3-distupgrade 16.04.19

[Bug 1630324] Re: Broadcom wifi dies in 60s cycles with 4.8 kernel

2016-12-21 Thread Christophe de Dinechin
I have a similar issue with Mac Book Pro 15", with only one of my two
base stations, the other one seems to work fine.

The base station that fails is a Freebox Revolution, configured to use
channels 12 and 8 with 40MHz bandwidth in 2.4GHz mode (according to its
configuration page).

The base station that works (same SSID, same password) is an old Airport
Time Capsule.

When I attempt to connect to the Freebox Revolution, I get a stack

[Bug 1647166] [NEW] systemd-networkd Lost wlan0 carrier although it is always there and strong

2016-12-04 Thread jean-christophe manciot
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 16.10 4.8 with systemd 231-9ubuntu1

Wlan0 carrier is lost now and then although there is no apparent reason:
the signal which is broadcasted by the nearby AP remains always strong
just a few feet away.

All the related logs are attached.

What could trigger the error message "systemd-networkd[2940]: wlan0:
Lost carrier" (line 577 in log) other than a weak signal?

[Bug 1639180] Re: no login possible after update to nvidia 304.132

2016-12-02 Thread Jean Christophe André
Well… Switching to another window manager doesn't solve the “any 3D/GLX
app would crash” issue…

In my case I would have preferred to use the nouveau driver from the
beginning, except that for ancient cards like the 6150SE it makes the
whole system freeze after only a few minutes…

Finally, I was so p*ssed off about this bug and the fact that I have to
tune this or that after some security update, that I looked back into
this nouveau driver bug for 2 days and finally found a way to use it
without patching/installing anything or totally disabling all graphic
accelerations. (options nouveau config="PMPEG=0" => works for me/my
card)

So now that I have returned to The open and happy world and am not
concerned with this bug anymore. Goodluck everybody else! :-P

[Bug 1639180] Re: no login possible after update to nvidia 304.132

2016-11-29 Thread Jean Christophe André
FYI, after a kernel upgrade the NVIDIA driver was unusable again. This
time was because of the DKMS mechanism which, for whatever reason I
didn't investigate yet (could it be because of the apt-pinning??),
didn't success to build and install the nvidia_304.ko module for the new
kernel.

If that happens to you, the solution is to run these commands:
 dpkg-reconfigure nvidia-304
service lightdm restart (no need to reboot)

[Bug 1639180] Re: no login possible after update to nvidia 304.132

2016-11-06 Thread Jean Christophe André
In my case I have a GeForce 6150SE so I really need this 304.131 and
can't higher version like 340.xx.

For people needing to downgrade, this is one (among others) correct way to do
so with Ubuntu 16.04:

- first create a file named /etc/apt/preferences.d/local-nvidia-quirks
with the following content:

Explanation: block this specifique update because of OpenGL problem with 304.132
Package: nvidia-304
Pin: version 304.132-0ubuntu0.16.04.2
Pin-Priority: -10

Explanation: block this specifique update because of OpenGL problem with 304.132
Package: nvidia-opencl-icd-304
Pin: version 304.132-0ubuntu0.16.04.2
Pin-Priority: -10

- then reinstall the working old packages (they are still available in
the repository):

sudo apt install nvidia-304=304.131-0ubuntu3 nvidia-opencl-
icd-304=304.131-0ubuntu3

- finally, reboot your computer (because it also affects the initrd boot
image)

The previous way only blocks the currently known not working version, without
blocking future updates.

If you want a way to stay at the known working version without further
updates, here is the content you should use for your
/etc/apt/preferences.d/local-nvidia-quirks:

Explanation: do not use any other version than this one, ever (priority 1001
will ensure that)
Package: nvidia-304
Pin: version 304.131-0ubuntu3
Pin-Priority: 1001

Explanation: do not use any other version than this one, ever (priority 1001
will ensure that)
Package: nvidia-opencl-icd-304

[Bug 1639180] Re: no login possible after update to nvidia 304.132

2016-11-05 Thread Jean Christophe André
Since this problem greatly affects usability (no graphic login anymore),
may be it's worth (in the users' point of view) creating a “fake
version” security-upgrade like "304.132-0ubuntu0.16.04.2+really304.131"
to fill the gap while waiting for Nvidia to provide a fix for 304.132,
IMHO.

[Bug 1624715] [NEW] rpc.statd not started automatically

2016-09-17 Thread Christophe Lyon
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I've noticed that if my NFS mounts do not have the 'auto' option,
rpc.statd does not start automatically, without a password.

When I try to mount the share, I'm prompted for the sudo password, in order to
start rpc.statd.
If the current user does not know the password, he cannot start rpc.statd and
thus cannot mount the share.

Here is a sample session:
$ mount /media/xxx
[a popup window opens to prompt for a password, choose "cancel"]
Failed to start rpc-statd.service: Access denied
See system logs and 'systemctl status rpc-statd.service' for details.
mount.nfs: rpc.statd is not running but is required for remote locking.
mount.nfs: Either use '-o nolock' to keep locks local, or start statd.
mount.nfs: an incorrect mount option was specified

/var/log/syslog contains:
Sep 17 20:22:41 mcqueen rpc.statd[5160]: Opening /run/rpc.statd.pid failed:
Permission denied

$ systemctl status rpc-statd.service
● rpc-statd.service - NFS status monitor for NFSv2/3 locking.
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/rpc-statd.service; enabled; vendor preset
   Active: inactive (dead)

/etc/fstab entry:
192.168.0.5:/volume1/documents /media/xxx nfs user,noauto0 0

Of course, if I enter the sudo password, or if I manually start
rpc.statd as root before trying to mount, the mount operation succeeds.

Similarly, if I replace "noauto" with "auto", rpc.statd is started
during the boot sequence, and everything works.

Yet, I'd expect that any user be able to mount this share, since it has
the "user" option.

Problem currently noticed with ubuntu 16.04.

[Bug 1581263] Re: Problems with wallpapers in Cinnamon 3.0 with Ubuntu 16.04

2016-09-09 Thread Christophe RAZAFIMAHATRATRA
@Christopher,
I see. I've never used a custom wallpaper with Unity. That's why I don't have
this folder.

Anyway, I switched to Unity desktop manager and changed the wallpaper
with the cinnamon wallpaper, and then, I switched back to Cinnamon
Desktop. And everything is OK now.

[Bug 1608179] Re: Multiple failed tests during 2.11 build

2016-09-01 Thread jean-christophe manciot
First off, your successful tests are not conclusive in this situation: you're
using 16.10 beta when I'm using stable 16.04.
Secondly, I am able to successfully build other go packages, so I don't think
my environment has an issue, but I remain open to all suggestions.
Third, in the meantime, I have found a way (unique to this package) to overcome
the previous error messages with:

[Bug 1561250] Re: Xenial vagrant image is missing its hostname in /etc/hosts

2016-07-26 Thread christophe
About libnss-myhostname. This was how it was done in the trusty box. Not
saying it should be done that way in xenial though...

[Bug 1577170] Re: screen cannot be turned back on after being switched off after some time of inactivity

2016-07-18 Thread Christophe
Another thing I just noticed : with or without the patch, the only thing
that works with two screen is the extended mode. When I try to go from
two screen extended to two screen clone mode, both screens switch off
and cannot be switched back on.

[Bug 1577170] Re: screen cannot be turned back on after being switched off after some time of inactivity

2016-07-18 Thread Christophe
In the next comment, you will findthe output of xrandr --verbose, when both
monitors are enabled, with the original (non patched) drivers.
I must say that the patch you posted in comment #47 works perfectly when it
comes to wake the monitor after some time of sleep. Only the problem of black
screens when switching from one to two screens enabled remains.

[Bug 1577170] Re: screen cannot be turned back on after being switched off after some time of inactivity

2016-07-06 Thread Christophe
Same problem with this patch. Well in fact, it's even worse as I got a
kernel panic when trying to switch from 2 screens to only one (see
picture attached).

I attached the output of xrandr before and after the black screen (but
before the complete crash).

The black screen when changing between one and two monitors also appears
without the patch.

I must add that without the patch, after the black screen and the ctrl-alt-F1
then ctrl-alt-F7, I had a dialog box saying : "Impossible de restaurer la
configuration de l'affichage
could not set the configuration for CRTC 80".
