[Bug 812901] Re: Checkboxes are too big in Firefox

2012-04-28 Thread Dinero Francis
If they were of the correct size, they would be presented in a list
rather than that pattern of disarray. I don't have an example page, but
I'm sure any list of checkboxes with a small-enough font size and narrow
margins will demonstrate this error.

[Bug 553894] [NEW] Evince ignores Reverse page order option when printing

2010-04-02 Thread Dinero Francis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

I wanted to print out a PDF double-sided but my printer lacks this
function so I tried to do it manually. Printed even pages, then put the
paper back in and printed odd pages in reverse order. Instead, I get
the first page printed on the back of the last page. It works as
expected in Okular. Currently using 2.30.0-0ubuntu1 on Lucid.

[Bug 421568] Re: Microphone does not work on Acer Aspire 6530G

2010-03-18 Thread Dinero Francis
It is still an issue. I am currently using Lucid and the 2.6.33 kernel
from the mainline PPA. Occasionally the microphone will pick up a lot
of noise and only my voice if I am touching the microphone with my lips,
and at these times the speakers can also be muted when I plug headphones
in. The rest of the time, the microphone does not work and when I plug
headphones in the sound comes out of them and the laptop's speakers.
The Terminal command you left does not work; the error message states
that -p is not a valid option.

[Bug 408991] Re: [Acer, inc. Aspire 5920] suspend/resume failure

2010-03-13 Thread Dinero Francis
I am currently using 2.6.33 from the mainline kernel PPA because it
allows me to suspend my computer. I am not compiling any kernels to try
and identify where the problem is because my computer's mainboard killed
itself last time I tried because of the amount of time it was hot.
Using Lucid, when I try the command you gave, I got this error:

$ apport-collect -p linux 408991
Usage: apport-gtk report number

apport-gtk: error: no such option: -p

Suspend is successful with the kernel you asked me to install, but it
does not resume successfully with the latest version available in the
Lucid repositories.

2010-02-08 Thread Dinero Francis
The first test failed. The second one suspended my laptop, but it
didn't resume automatically and when I hit a key the same thing as usual
happened -- fan blew, CD spun, power light turned blue, but no screen.

[Bug 477705] Re: Obsolete plugins should be removed

2010-01-24 Thread Dinero Francis
How has the functionality of the Last Seen plugin been added to
Pidgin? I had to downgrade to an older version of the pidgin-plugin-
pack package because looking for the features the Last Seen plugin
offered was giving me a headache.

We both have an Acer Aspire 6530G so I assume the hardware is similar
enough for the same problem to be present in both.

[Bug 434789] Re: Notifications appear too low

2009-10-11 Thread Dinero Francis
I also thought this was a bug, and have been waiting some weeks in the
hope that it would be fixed in an update. It makes little sense and
doesn't look very good, having the large majority of my notifications
not directly below the panel, but about 2 cm below it. If anything,
shouldn't user-triggered notifications be delegated to a lower priority
since the user, having been the one who triggered it in the first place,
would already know that something is being changed and to what degree?
I don't think a bar needs to take priority over instant messaging and
media player notifications to indicate to the user how much light they
want to be hitting their eyes from the monitor when they can quite
easily gauge this for themselves.

[Bug 428427] Re: CPU maxing out

2009-09-17 Thread Dinero Francis
Yes, that sounds very similar to what I was experiencing while I was
using Karmic. However, the number of issues I was having was so great
that I had to go back to Jaunty. The fan was blowing constantly and
giving me a headache.

nothing in tty7 with GNOME can do anything. Pulseaudio was maxing out
my CPU. Also, the process cannot be killed using kill PID

[Bug 425122] [NEW] Configuration on installation should pop up in a dialog, rather than staying in terminal

2009-09-06 Thread Dinero Francis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: postfix

People who are waiting for this package to be installed as a dependency
can be waiting forever for it to finish since it asks for configuration
in the terminal rather than in a dialog, which would be more visible.
Very user-unfriendly.

[Bug 342890] Re: Cannot play DVDs - Could not open location; you might not have permission to open the file

2009-07-24 Thread Dinero Francis
Here's a question for you all. Is anybody who's commented on this bug
using a 64-bit OS? I had the issue on a 32-bit OS, but for the last
three weeks I've been using 64-bit Ubuntu on two different computers
(one of these the one I had the original problem on) and so far I've
experienced no problems. I know I'm probably jinxing myself here, but
still.

 Bug description:
 Hi.
I need to change fonts and to disable antialising for qt4/kde4 applications
in 9.04. I have installed systemsettings and when i launch it, i can see
only icons and emoticons in Appearance. Settings for fonts aren´t
available. So i'm not able to change it.
Or is any other way how can i disable antialising/subpixel hinting and
 change fonts?
If it would be a feature not bug, sorry, because i've started trying Ubuntu
and I'm newbie in the Ubuntu's world.
 Thanks.

I tried using the PDF printer today and I got the same error message --
/usr/lib/cups/filter/cpdftocps failed
Is it safe to assume that the error may not be with the Brother drivers?

I don't know if this is related, but I cannot use the CUPS web interface.
If I try and click on any links from the home page, it just keeps trying to
load until a blank page finally loads.**
